I think this is a lovely gift. Someone else here in the comments said jewelry is useless. It most certainly is not. She seems quite young and they've been together a year so I think this gift is totally appropriate and very sweet.

Traditionally men would give women serious jewelry on special occasions and especially after giving birth to a child. Part of the reason for this was that in the past women could not open bank accounts or get credit on their own. Their jewelry was their insurance. If things went wrong they could sell it.

I am not part of that generation, but the next right after and this was considered normal and expected behavior in my corner of the world (NYC area) at the time of my engagement and marriage. My ex-husband bought me a large diamond engagement ring, gold bracelets and diamond earrings as gifts at other times and for my wedding present a beautiful pink pearl necklace. My father, even though he was a shit in most ways also gifted my mother some very nice jewelry.

Edited to add: Among men, being cheap and/or unable to provide for your girlfriend or wife was considered unmasculine. No self respecting man would ever brag about getting away with doing nothing for his woman or leaching off of her

My husband was very creative too. Before we were living together he got me one of those pull alarms that scares away criminals or rapists. He did that for me because of a very scary encounter with some old man in my apartment building at the time.

My sweetheart and I lived 400 miles apart at the time but he wanted to make sure that I was safe. A HVM will always look out for you no matter what. This is the same HVM that came to my rescue as well when I couldn't afford my apartment anymore and my dumbass roomate got herself evicted. He drove all that way to get me and bring me back home with him. I had visited him twice before that of course. But my HVM saved my life and I am forever grateful to him <3

The point of this post is not the bracelet or whether its worth anything (I think the bracelet is cute but I agree its cheap and not the most epic or creative gift) BUT the point of this post is the other girls comment that men who like you will get creative and put in effort.

So... what exactly is creative in picking up a bracelet? What if he didn’t know there’s 12 roses and she literally made that up to justify his affection cause that’s the only gift she received? Also, jewelry is useless.
