I prefer the "Slight edge" way of reading a book which is to just read 10 pages a day. It is a slow, arduous process but at least it will make you think about those 10 pages and maybe give you some perspective on what you are reading. Rome wasn't built in a day and so isn't being able to read and digest literature. However, if it works for you then go for it I am sure there are people who will want to get the books over with and can find use for this method.
