I'd recommend you look further into the "compelling medical support" for circumcision. The numbers are almost negligible and are dwarfed by the combined risk of long term complications such as urethral trauma, permanent penile pain, significant loss in sensitivity, severe infections and even in rare cases death. This is a cosmetic surgery, constructed by the religious to reduce sexual sensation to reduce unwed sexual activity, which has been surrounded by quack medical research that barely holds…

I used to use a female avatar in Star Wars: Galaxies for awhile. It's amazing how much free shit I got. It was within the first day of playing that character, and someone had gifted me a vehicle and about 10k in credits for nothing than being a "newbie." My previous character, a male rodian, got jack shit.

Epidemics a strong word, but the number is a lot higher than being reported, and the system is rigged against the defendant. The US legal system is supposed to be willing to allow 100 guilty people go free over a single innocent person be wrongfully convicted. The fact that the system allows this (and allows it to be easier than in any other type of criminal conviction) may not be an EPIDEMIC, but it's absolutely a human rights travesty. It should not be taken lightly, and people need to stop wa…

These feminist male servants tend to actually fall on their swords for the cause without thinking much about it. They are disposable commodities walked around like show dogs for their masters and are expected to take care of their mess as dirty pathetic men when the time comes. I doubt they are even aware of how fucked up it is.

I think allowing false accusations in a society that has "rape culture" that sees the accused as guilty before proven innocent to be left untouched is extremely dangerous. The cries of "It's important to make sure we don't deter real accusations by not going after the false ones" screams of the emotional pleas of "Won't someone think of the children." And I don't have the statistics right now, but I'm sure someone can fill in the data, but false rape accusations range between " a lot higher than…

MRA organizations do not focus on specific orientation-based issues, they deal with issues involving injustices that men (regardless of orientation) face. They may inadvertently coincide with issues gay rights activists deal with, but it's not really their primary concern. you will fight quite a few people in the MRA that are also gay-rights activists though.

There seems to be a big business behind social justice now. They are hot button issues that get you massive readers/viewership as a media outlet, tons of money for ad hits and payment for interviews as a "social justice warrior," and tons more students as a professor of the various fields directly related. Maybe I'm just too much of a conspiracy theorist, but I feel that if you follow the money, you'll find your answer to almost any question. They exaggerate, misrepresent and lie because a lot o…

Yaoi is a sub-category of bishonen, but they are generally mutually exclusive. You can have a bishonen-style romance or erotic manga that is entirely heterosexual. The style of feminine men has more to do with the aesthetic appeal to Japanese women, not necessarily their sexual orientation.

The same reason why tons of government projects pander and unfairly slant for the elderly: In America, women are the majority of voters in the country. As such, the current progressive tactic is to pander to them. Why are men unfairly treated in these programs? Because you have to pay for these programs somehow, and like the young paying for the old, men must pay for the programs for women. Nobody likes paying more for things, so if they get a benefit and they don't have to pay, they are more li…

The art style is bishonen (Japanese for pretty boy/beautiful youth) a style of japanese manga, usually romance oriented towards women. The men are youthful and feminine in appearance, innocent and typically lack agency and are acted upon by (sometimes) more worldly female protagonists.

Don't move the goal post to dig yourself out, troll. Was the TTC's policy of women-only Request Stop service exclusionary? Was the clear words "to women" and "allows a woman" not specify guidelines for a then exclusionary system? You were wrong and you proved yourself wrong. I'm a layman, so I need someone to look into this, but to me the actual research seems faulty. When dealing with risk - benefits, a huge section of major risks' "rating of evidence" is listed as N/A. How can you judge anything with incomplete judging of the bias of evidence? Even so, this drastic reduction of disease and risks really only seem to come into play with urinary tract infections, where a circumcision reduces the risk by 32% for ones lifetime. All other conditions seem to barely breac…

Lol. No. It showed that you were wrong, that it did specify it was a gender specific policy, that you couldn't read, and that while it was changed 20 years later, that it very much was an exclusionary policy. Stop worming your way out of it. You were wrong. Nowhere does this sign say that men cannot request this. They use this example to illustrate on common use for this option. This is reaching, at best. I see it as an example for who can use it, but I see no exclusionary language. The Request …

I really don't care about your history, I care about the content of your post, which is indicative of either two things: a troll or a person with poor reading skills and an inability to accept that their assertion was incorrect. No, you are incorrect because it WAS, in fact an exclusionary system, which this image showed, that was finally, after three decades, changed to become inclusive and not discriminatory based on gender. So the image, which was from BEFORE the some 25-year-too-late revision was exclusionary. Which means you have, as previously addressed, poor reading skills (or were being deliberately obtuse in order to give an obviously discriminatory program based a pass.) It's a desperate move that can blow up in his face and cause even larger trauma. Legal trouble, a potentially far larger financial burden, potentially serious jail time and a destruction of your career. If your tactic fails he could potentially be slinging burgers for the rest of his life because of a criminal record that makes the concept of his employment toxic. It's a bad idea and he shouldn't go down that road. That's not a feminist perspective, it's just an intelligent perspective.

It's really easy to look at the things that happen to us and cry discrimination. As there appears to be both genders being promoted roughly equally in your situation, it's clear that it's not gender discrimination. It doesn't seem like a horrendous bill. It'll protect people from being fired for exchanging pay information with co-workers and being dumb enough to bring it up during pay negotiations. I don't see though how that would really help women to get "equal pay." If unfair wages based on gender was a reality, this bill would just ensure less women were hired, as the profit would be gone.

They don't blame all their problems on patriarchy and men - just the ones related to gender roles and social equity. And despite our disagreements about the totalitarity of male hatred involved in practicing patriarchy theory, this is the major issue you don't disagree with, which is the leading issue as to why feminism is not compatible with men and men's rights in general.
/r/MensRights04/04/14 04:32 PM

So here's the major issue with Feminist doctrine and how is clashes with egalitarianism and men's rights. If you call yourself a feminist because you believe in equal rights, that's fine, but you aren't actually adhering to feminist doctrine, the core of the belief structure of feminism. Feminism is based around the idea of privilege and the idea of patriarchy. If you believe that men have total control over society and are solely privileged in their day to day life, then any problems they have …

I'm not opposed to criticizing someones role in a situation and how they got there, but the vast majority of the top posts involve completely making fun of the persons attack and then using victim blaming as a means to dismiss a man's sexual assault. This is less about "Crying" victim blaming. This is about using victim blaming to reinforce a lack of care for male victims of rape.

Huh ... Feminism has stopped being about the liberation of women and has instead become about not alienating men. We can’t simply talk about rape culture and strategize how to destroy it without every single statement requiring the caveat “we don’t mean all men”. We can’t hold conferences without including men. We can’t even hold Reclaim the Night marches without men demanding to be included, irrespective of the fact that the men who demand the right to attend rarely show up. Or that the inclusi…

This is pretty simple. MRA's are misunderstood because people are being told what they are far (usually abhorrent things) instead of finding out what they are for. A fetus isn't a child, it's a parasite. It's incapable of living outside the womb and is an endangerment to it's potentially un-consenting host. It's potential to become life does not define life. It's important to remember that a lack of a conviction in any criminal case only shows that the person is legally not guilty, not innocent. Plenty of rape allegations that don't receive convictions can simply be due to the lack of evidence presented to acquire a conviction. So while 76% could be false rape allegations, it's not so likely.

I guess the issue is the definition of harassment. Admittedly I'm not familiar with some of these claims, so I can't really speak to them. If you could get me some citation I'd be interested in seeing the situation. How do you define harassment? Is it just questioning someone? Disagreeing with them openly? I know much of the Adria Richards discussion was talk about her hypocrisy, feminist principals criticism and discussion on the gendered issues in the tech industry. Is that harassment? I mean …

I'm sorry, but with all your proselytizing, you haven't answered my question. We know you feel that the extremely minor health benefits are an important factor for your argument. We also know you ignore the idea of consent, claiming somehow that it's a moral issue, and not a human rights issue? I guess I have no ground to stand on against pedophilia, okay, whatever. SO. So then you support the clipping of a child's earlobes for aesthetic purposes? Some parents may see it as beneficial, others as brutal or maiming. You may even find some minor health benefits to it. Some parents want to tattoo their children, and don't see a problem with it, others view it as abhorrent. The general feeling on almost all of these is that it is immoral and unjustifiable because it's simply wrong to do something to somebody that they do not consent to. It's the basis of our own leg…

The minor health benefits are irrelevant. The issue is with consent. Should another person be allowed to permanently maim another person without their consent? The answer is always no, regardless of the insignificant health benefits they may present.

You are painting a picture of a very small portion of the prison population. Most of those incarcerated for drug offenses were users, not dealers, and even fewer of those dealers were major dealers or suppliers. For the majority of those, who do have an addiction that is illegal and get caught, the job market is cruel and unforgiving to past sins. Sure you can work at Burger King for 15 hours a week and live in a half-way house, but that's about where the upward momentum ends.

That is the modern reason. It was the sole focus that brought male circumcision outside of religious ritual and into mainstream medical procedure. When the Victorian values died out, supporters drummed up new bullshit minute medical benefits to validate what has now become an aesthetic and societal norm. In most studies about male circumcision in America, a vast majority of mothers report deciding to do it because: "it looks better." That would be like giving your kid a Rhinoplasty.

This is excellent progress on a huge inequality. Many felons in the United States are in jail for non-violent drug offenses, and already have an extremely hard time re-adjusting to a society that views them negatively, and are almost untouchable in the workforce.

Thanks for responding so quickly. A common misconception I often hear about FGM is the complete removal of external genitalia. While this definitely is involved in some areas, the total procedures counted by the WHO on FGM are rather broad. Both are meant to significantly limit the sexual pleasure of the individual in order to curb sexuality outside of/before marriage. I'm not advocating censorship or moderator removal of topics, I'm saying we as a community should be self-advocating and be sure that we are allowing the truly best content is rising to the top. It's a general problem with all subreddits that start to get too big, and it's actually a good sign. The thing is though that we can get off track easily if we allow it.
/r/MensRights03/03/14 03:38 PM

I don't think the OP is saying that we should censor sub-par posts, but that we should hold ourselves to a higher standard than the lowest common denominator. We already get a lot of facebook image posts from time to time inexplicably rising to the top that stray awfully close to our existing policy of low-effort image posts.

It's important to remember that as a budding human rights group, everything we say has an impact on how people will perceive us. There are already subreddits that actively hunt out for posts on this sub that fit their view of us, and out actions and faults will surely shape the narrative of how people perceive the moment going forward. We must tread lightly and moderate ourselves strictly. We don't have the luxury those who oppose us have.

It's a difficult question, but really I feel like the problem isn't with the amount, but with how this money is allotted and utilized. How is that by definition? Racism noun 1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others. 2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination. 3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races. Rape is non-consensual sex. His conditional consent would have been breached when he overrode his birth control method (the object of his conditional consent.) In courts this has already been established as a rescind of that consent. If this is the case, it's definitely rape.

I posit to you, this idea: what if it is nothing that we are doing that is leading us to being listed as a hate group, but instead the established system being guided by another group to do so in order to silence us? Nobodies dog has been mutilated and it's corpse laid on the doorstep of a person because of Men's Rights. The MRA doesn't go and give death threats to its opposition. Again, we aren't the ones running around banning people from boards, pushing to place legal restrictions on our views and generally being disruptive. Are we snide sometimes? Sure. The legality of opting out has nothing to do with how the child feels. Children already live in a world where either parent can abdicate their parenthood. To be fair to Rebecca Watson (ugh), it wasn't really her that escalated "Elevatorgate" into the craziness that it was, she just wrote a blog where she was doing her very best to act like a Valley Girl High Schooler "Ew, omg, boys -- don't do that, like srysly. Mkay?"

I don't want any person to have to fight involuntarily. An all volunteer army is the most reasonable and moral solution for the problems of national defense.

Given the context of the game, it's not a questionable interpretation at all. Anything other than that is actually suspect. I'd suggest you look at the game and its setting. Just the torso, or severed bodies? There's the Walking Dead collectors head that's just a mutilated male head with a screwdriver sticking out. There's also a Bishop collectible that's his head and torso for an Aliens trilogy collectors set. Those are off the top of my head.

I don't have any on the top of my head with just the body, but there's a rather brutal dismembered head statue that you get with the Walking Dead collectors boxset.

Doesn't seem clear to me. It seems to me it's intending to be shocking and twisted, but not sexy. It looks like a play on traditional marble busts, with the ends, arms and legs removed, but using the dismembered corpse of a tourist. It doesn't really seem provocative to me.

Would you call that bust sexy?

Just to elaborate on the double standard, there's literally dozens and dozens of these tchotchke add-ons for various horror boxsets and games that depict severed male heads or other body parts, and caused absolutely no outcry. The moment this one, depicting the dismembered body of a woman in a swimsuit (the game is based on an island resort) the outcry was so harsh it forced the company to issue a formal apology.

I'd rather see selective service disposed of. You shouldn't force people to go and die for anything.

They aren't supposed to subdue the man, they are going beyond their job requirements and are asking risking disciplinary action. Wal-Mart management is trained in the event of a hostile encounter to remove any employees that are endanger and contact security/police.

Is it a stretch? There's no evidence one way or another that indicates she is referring to any particular contraceptive. She could just as be easily talking about all forms of contraceptives for all people as she could be just about oral contraceptives and just for herself. The point is you have no evidence one way or another, and it's an inappropriate to infer such from this picture. Men's rights not about pissing and moaning in a corner shouting "don't forget to mention us too!" every time a p…

It's a poor inference, nothing more. She could equally be talking about purchasing a big handy dandy shack-pack of condoms for her and her significant others use, not just female-only contraceptives. Its something two people use, not just one. She believes that feminism is her dog in the fight to make affordable/free for use for people. That's people, not necessarily just women. It doesn't say "Because women shouldn't pay for birth control" or "because men won't pay for my birth control." It's a…

Instead of attacking feminists for wanting oral contraceptives to be covered by more health insurance companies, we should be striving to work together on this one to get all contraceptives covered.

So you instead chose to assault her. If this was your house/your apartment, you have a lot of avenues to remove her and have the ability to gather legal paperwork even to protect you. If her threats felt like they had merit, you actually did the FAR worse thing by touching her forcibly and allowing her to not only use that as a reason to press charges but also use that as evident for a violent past. Don't blame your fear of the crazy bitch for making the wrong decisions. If it's your house or yo…

Also, the kid was black, and the girl was white and scared. It's not really a politically correct opinion, but a lot of white people, especially older, more conservative or ones in emotion distress, have a difficult time identify the unique facial characters of someone of a different race. This post makes it sound like she just fingered anybody, when in fact it sounds like it was more like an emotionally confused moment.

The better question is, who cares. Him having had plenty and this being her first time shouldn't matter. It's not important, it doesn't change it, and nobody should make a big deal about it.
