I'm also 16 weeks pregnant and this is basically what I've been doing! Too small for real maternity clothes but too big for regular jeans. I call my bump a "fump" because it can look like I'm just getting fat. I try keeping my hair down and pinned in a feminine way, clean and simple makeup, and be more mindful that I'm growing...

Encourage him to go out with his friends, to pursue his hobbies, and help him make sure he has time for himself. DH plays video games, occasionally, and when a new game comes I make sure to pre-load it and install updates so when he comes home, it's all ready to go. He also likes playing board games with his friends, and I point out dates that he can invite them over. When they come over, I make sure there are snacks, drinks, etc. and stay out of their way so they can have fun. Above all, I do m…

I'm also pregnant, right now, but it's early and so far there are no complications. My husband has told me that if I push myself and don't look after myself, then I am making it harder for him. I work from home and he works at an office, and we are both first time parents. He told me he doesn't want to sit at work and worry about me. I have a history of skipping lunch because I'm too busy or cleaning the entire house and passing out due to exhaustion. He made it very clear that me taking it easy…

Right, but people can openly avow to be Christians and behave very un-Christian. People can be avowed to be committed Vegans and yet eat honey. I've met many people who swear up and down that they aren't racist, but then proceed to say extremely racist things to my face. Then get very upset if I tell them that's racist. People say they are a lot of things, most of the time they aren't. It's about what they do, not what they say. EDIT: Also, it's important that people never confuse this man's tre…

It's always important to keep in mind that having a relationship also takes both individuals to adopt a RP/RPW mindset. In my experience, while being a RPW can encourage RP behaviors in the man, often you need a conversation to get it clear and in the open. Communication is always key. It sounds like he is not RP, but just abusive. Yes, while it is possible that behind close doors she could be terrible and bitchy, but that level of public abuse is rarely warranted. A RP man wouldn't let his emot…

The CFA exam is extremely difficult and challenging. One of my close friends took the exam and I barely saw/spoke to her for 3 months leading up to it. She wound up passing and now makes a ton of money, started out at Ernest and Young! If you pass it and have the grades, you can make a lot of money out the gate. He's only 23 and he's living with you, sharing with finances with you, and now needs to study for a major exam that will probably dictate his entire career arc. He was injured 3 months a…

This is from an actual person, and to add to it, this includes hugging his mother and sister. He told me and my husband that only his wife can hug him "like that" (meaning more than a pat on the back) and he doesn't want anyone, including my husband, to hug him any tighter.

I think there is a fine line between "oneitis" and an extremely compatible relationship. From what I have seen, Oneitis is (and I've actually heard/witnessed these things): My partner has made all of my dreams come true. My life was empty and void without them. I can now believe in love again. If they're mad at me, I did something wrong and I'm just a worthless person for upsetting such a perfect creature. Anyone who takes the phrase "happy wife means a happy life" seriously. A guy who no longer…

If I was in your situation, I would not bother asking them if they're seeing someone else. I never felt comfortable doing that because I felt like I was pursuing them (in a way I don't like). If I'm not sleeping with them, then I don't have to worry about STI's. But when I met my husband, after a few dates I knew I wanted to just let him know how I was feeling. It was scary, I had to be very vulnerable, but I basically told him that I liked him a lot. I'm very grateful to have met him, and I'd l…

Do you clarify that you just mean a monogamous relationship, not that you need to be married/engaged? Do you act like you are waiting for them to say "well I'm committed!" Or do you make it more matter of fact? When I told men, I told them very matter of fact. Like "this is just me. You can agree or not, no pressure. This is just how I roll." So it wasn't like I was fishing for a response, it was like a fun fact about me. "I'm 5'8" and I don't have sex without being in a monogamous relationship!…

Like everyone else is suggesting, prep ahead of time. If you have a second oven, set it to 175 (or lower to 140 if you can) so it can keep your food warm. Any desserts? Bake the day before in the morning, let them cool and store in fridge once cooled, then once dinner is being eaten pop them in the oven at 175 and let them slowly warm up. By the time dinner is done they are perfectly warmed. Works great for pies. Make as much as you can before anyone comes. Create a drinks station so no one has …

My best friend majored in biochemistry and had the same thoughts as you. She is now doing a grad degree in computer science because she is limited in biochemistry. She also abandoned all dreams of a grad program (PhD) after getting her master's. She regrets her path, and said that any person going into the science field should learn automation. Not quite sure what that means, but we have a friend who did that and she didn't need to finish her master's. She works in the top biotech companies in t…

I remember the first time I had a discussion about "emotional labor" with DH (then just BF). He was surprised, and admitted that he didn't even know it was a thing. His sister would remind him, or he and his brother were just excused from doing any of that at all. A lot of gift cards were given during the holidays.... I think what women tend to miss, if they resent having to manage the majority of the emotional labor, is that this is their time to show the family how much they care. Especially i…

I know three people who married a person they met on OkCupid. Including me. My sister and best friend are the other two. It took me about 3 different tries (attempted over about 6 years) but it was worth it. Like they said, answer questions, be honest, and pay attention to the match rating. All of us had matches over 90%. DH and I had a match of 98%. It means something! You just have to be willing to answer as many questions as possible and figure out what really is a deal breaker versus what is…

Oh no, sorry that did come off that way. No, I meant that it shouldn't be like that AT ALL but men are totally encouraged to do that. I know many men who abandoned long-held hobbies because their SO found it "annoying" or "didn't like it." (Those are actual words I've heard.) I don't think anyone should do that. But if a man does it, he's just being an understanding partner. That's what I meant!

A woman that cooks, does laundry, cleans, does the dishes, and in general minds the house for her SO is being oppressed. A man who does that is "such a thoughtful and loving" partner. He's treating her like "the queen she is." A woman who has to changes interests, wear different clothes, doesn't hang out with her friends as much, and participates in all of her SO's hobbies is being controlled and abused. [EDIT: No one should do this!] A man who does that is just being a good SO and every man sho…

I am not sure. I do know that pattern matching tests are a newer element (comparatively). But, instead of just "pick what is missing from this square", they are also developing a portion that is more hands-on. Like putting together blocks to match the pattern in the picture. This will be better for testing children, as well as taking into account spatial awareness/reasoning and not just pattern recognition. They are also believed to be the best indicator/correlation of mathematical/scientific ab…

Simply because IQ tests have been shown to be biased towards certain ethnicities (predominately white) and socioeconomic statuses. IQ Tests are Biased Against Certain Groups of People Minority Testing Bias Persists Intelligence Testing: Accurate or Extremely Biased? In my opinion, it is nebulous. Could you submit to someone whose decisions you could not trust? Can you trust someone where you can see that his logic is faulty and that he is unable to see it? I could not submit to someone who could not listen to counsel of those around him. I could not submit to someone who would needs to feel right instead of being right. I think smart people, especially good leaders, know how to listen to they lead and do what is best for the group and not for their vanity. I understand what you mean if y…

I read a lot of reference to IQ's in RP/RPW discussions. I never really understood why it was relevant. Recently, IQ tests have been proven to be weak indicators of intelligence. We can sit around here and talk about our IQ's and whoever has the highest, well she must be in for a struggle. (I am 144, by the way.) But the reality is... it means squat. I haven't lived for very long, but looking at 30 this year and I can tell you that high IQ means nothing if the person doesn't have the work ethic …

Being a leader doesn't mean that people do things for you. It doesn't mean you get to boss people around. It means that you know how to lead by example, that you are unafraid of challenges or struggles, that you are ready to sacrifice and carry on those around you if needed. But that also requires the people they lead to trust them. So obedience is key, especially when it is a stressful/risky situation. That being said, orders shouldn't be needed when you work as a team. I don't feel like DH ord…

My warning is only that you want to find someone with red pill mentalities and don't mind if they're older. A lot of young red pill men, in your age group, are not interested in a LTR. They need to grow, mature, and experience life before they can commit to anyone. But what does a +27 year-old man want with a 22 year-old woman? Someone who is still in school and doesn't have an independent source of income? All you can offer them is to look after their home, be a good and respectful partner, and…

I'm a red pill millennial (on the older end, sure) but I didn't have too much trouble finding a red pill liberal man in California (in one of the most liberal and, in my view, backwards parts of the state). If you want to find someone conservative and aren't religious, then you should join a young Republicans club or the libertarian club. If you are religious then finding a church with a large number of young men and women is your best bet. Keep in mind that you are 22. For our generation, in Ca…

Then they became extremely misogynistic because they realized women just wanted them for money/status (which they now have) but were still angry because of all the lack of attention from their younger beta years from being a pasty basement dweller. I think you hit the nail on the head here. I also dated tech guys and this is the common theme. Later on, I added "no chip on his shoulder" as a dating requirement. Men like to be complimented. Especially told that they are handsome. We live in society where women are supposed to be complimented constantly. About their appearance, mind, interests, personality, etc. But men are only complimented if they look like a model. Men also have an ego that needs to he validated, and that's okay. It's not something I do all the time to random men, but it's something I make sure to do for my husband. It's a small part of what helps him know that he's still attractive a…

Been together almost 3 years and honestly the only times it hasn't felt like it is when there is some great outside stress. Like a family member passing away or a family member in the hospital. It's been a wild ride, but it only was hard because we had to work closely together to survive it. Once the stress is over, we come back together and are even more grateful. I like to think it's different from us falling out of love or resenting each other, or even hitting a rough spot. It's just... Life.

I use black soap, which has shea butter, jojoba oil, etc (depends on which brand you get). It also is very cheap, at least the brand I buy, and can be used on my body and face. I use foxbrim lotions with three drops of argan oil mixed in. It's not a lot, but it spreads well and moisturizes/heals. If I have redness/dryness, I use a honeymask. Just honey on my face, some baking soda if my skin is very oily and breaking out. I also use a black sugar scrub exfoliant, then a rice scrub that is very g…

We'll be making a fancy dinner at home (right now the plan is prime rib, roasted potatoes, and yorkshire pudding!), together, and then dress up in nice clothes and enjoy a romantic meal! We don't really celebrate days like this. Even our anniversary, we just do token gifts. Like an engraved compass, a music box, etc. Something that costs about $30 at most. Instead of trying to figure out how to tell them, try to figure out how to show them. Actions speak louder than words. A girl who is kind, capable, in good shape, charming, and comfortable in her own skin will tell men that she isn't just a one-night stand kind of a person. What helped me was having the mindset "I want to be this kind of person" and if you become the person you want to be, the kind of man who fits the person you are will show up. The only thing is determining what kind of woman …

Something I learned through therapy: The person who controls their emotions is the person who controls the conversation. The person yelling on top of their lungs and screaming vs. the person who is quietly listening and waiting for the screaming person to stop screaming. Who is really in command? When you are talking to people with differing opinions, many of them can be very "blunt" because they "tell it like it is!" and "have no time for fakers." I always roll my eyes at them. They think they'…

Something similar! It's his birthday dinner. He wants it every year without fail. Spaghetti and meatballs. I offer prime rib, but he wants pasta. Takes about 4 hours from start to finish. 1 onion finely minced with about 1/3 cup of olive oil. Open a can of anchovies and drain it well, no oil. Put those in a hot dutch oven pot. Let those cook until the anchovies disappear. Add in a can of tomato paste, then let it fry and get a nice deep red color. Then put in a splash of red wine and a splash of…

He told me about 1 month of dating, "I'm going to marry you." Then 3 1/2 months in, he drags me into the jewelry store (I wanted to go but I was worried he felt pressured) and he wanted me to design my ring with the jeweler. Then the jeweler proceeded to call me on accident to update him about the ring, so I knew when it was done. I would stop her before she could say anything and go, "no! wrong person!" She felt awful. 29 years-old, work from home for a legal-tech company. I have a BA from one of the top public universities in the U.S. and a law degree from a regionally well-known law school. Distance and time. I have a similar situation. While my BIL's wife is not as bad, she was very upset when DH and I got married a few months after they did. I think 1) structure 2) hierarchy 3) identity Is what can give kids a solid foundation. Clear rules, guidance, and boundaries are so important. I see so many kids that either have all the freedom (met parents of a 4 year old that told me not to tell him “no” because they don’t want to put limits on him) or no freedom at all. Both extremes are terrible, but kids look to parents for an idea of what is safe and what is dangerous. To them it comes out to be a lot like what is good and what is bad. H…

Yes! A shower is always a good idea. I think once you make it known that you think he should stop and that you don't want him to worry about it, then you can trust that he heard you. He definitely heard you, but they really want to do the task because they want to be capable of taking care of you. This recently happened to us as well. We were in the process of moving and I was cleaning the blinds. The blinds in the kitchen get super grimy, and DH insisted he wanted to help. I always planned on changing my last name. However, I am Asian American with a very American sounding first name, but my last name will tell other people that I am Asian. So when I speak to someone on the phone or sign an email, they can see from my name that I will not be white and when we meet in person, it's easier for them and there aren't any weird conversations. When my DH and I were still dating, I would write love notes and hide them in certain places (places he will eventually find). He's the type to love things like that. I'd also make him his favorite dinner, surprise him with something he's been thinking of buying (something small) but didn't want to spend the money. I never watched “This Is Us” but I heard it’s a tear-jerker and that it’s about a married couple. Something I said to my husband, when we need to have the “talk,”: I really like you. I don’t want to see anyone else. Have you heard of a show called “good eats”, hosted by Alton brown? It no longer runs, though I believe they are rebooting it due to its popularity, but it doesn’t just teach you recipes. It teaches you how and why food reacts the way it does. So many shows just tell you “put in this and then put that.” Instead, good eats explains to you why you want to do this. Eventually, you realize that a lot of the skills are translatable. You learn what flavor elements exist in a wide variety of cuisines, …

All of these suggestions are great, so the only one I would add is: How would you want to handle an ill parent? If a parent is sick or can no longer live alone, would you want to put them in a home or bring them into your home? As the wife, the majority of the care would fall upon your shoulders. I guess I'm just wondering WHY people stay in monk mode and for how long? And when would you consider it time to end monk mode? I often think about why monks become, well, monks. They cloister themselves, dedicate to study and focus on a higher calling. They give up all of those tempting vices, anything that will get between them and religious peace/enlightenment. It's not super helpful, but you stay in monk mode for as long as you need. If you have more issues to sort out, then you need to stay…

Yes, CA is a community property state. Due to the way student loans are in CA, they would not be able to come after you if you divorce. EDIT: I believe the only way they can come after you is if you're still married and he passes away, so whatever you are to inherit from his estate would first go to pay the debt. So it really doesn't even come after you, just after whatever you would get after he dies. Almost all student debt (especially federal ones) discharge after death, meaning that once you…

This is not legal advice, but do you live in a community property state? Student loans are a unique exception in the community property world. If you did not co-sign, they were not incurred during the course of the marriage, and depending on where you are married, then you are not responsible for his debt. So in the event of the divorce, you are not obligated to repay it and it will not reflect on your financial records. However, once you're married you might have to help him pay for it (not rea…

I think the first thing to realize and understand is that RPW applies to you as you can. There isn't one blanket way to be a RPW, and it's a gradation. Some people, if they go full RP, might just be too much for their relationship. Other people need that much. It depends on you, your partner, and your relationship. Nagging depends on his threshold for nagging and his own quirks and tendencies. The reason we give suggestions like that is because you're coming here with a problem. If there isn't a…

In your example, is it super vital to know that Ethiopia is north or south of Tanzania? What's hard in those situations is when he isn't listening to you, even though you're right. But at the same time, knowing that isn't super vital unless you're in Tanzania and trying to make your way to Ethiopia. When I first met my husband, my rule was to not try to make a point of correcting him unless it's vital. Like, him not knowing something puts him at risk either in an argument with another person or …

I think definitely just being honest and direct with him is a good first step. He might be concerned about you being a "gold digger" so it is good to discuss this in bits. Talk about how you feel about it. I told my husband that I feel very fulfilled cooking meals and looking after our home. How nice it is for me and rewarding to know that I can take care of him when he comes home after a long day. This is before we got married, btw! Definitely talk to him about it honestly and see how he respon…

Out of curiosity, do YOU like traditional gender roles? If so, did you tell him that? He might just not want to say it because you didn't say you like it. My husband was like that, because he was taught that he shouldn't ask that of his partner. After I admitted, he admitted it too and now we're happy doing our thing, our way.

DH and I discussed this. Not divorcing, but if he just.... doesn't come home. A car accident. Something happened at work. Who knows. I told him that I would probably sell all of our possessions, donate his clothes, give things to his relatives as they want. Save all photos and items of sentiment, give plenty to his mother. I would probably never come back to visit his family. (I would definitely keep in touch with his parents, especially his mother who is a mother to me.) The main reason is that…

Yes, scream! That "hyah" sound in martial arts isn't just to "look cool" but it also helps give force in your actions as well as scare your opponent. I would recommend not using your fist if you can. It's so easy to hurt yourself. Heel of your palm, elbow, and knee if you can reach. Those parts are the toughest. I had to break a brick, a standard red brick, with my bare hand to get my black belt. My instructor told me to do it as if I want my hand to reach the ground, not break the brick. Did it…

But, I have a black belt (almost got 2nd degree) in Tae Kwon Do, several gold medals in state competitions for sparring and grappling. I also had some training with disarming someone with a knife and/or a gun, as well as using a bo staff. I know better than to mess with a person holding a gun or a knife. As someone who was also diagnosed with BPD, but, much to the surprise of my family and doctors, has been in remission for over 6 years now, I know what you're talking about. But everything in life has an action and a reaction. No one party is at fault, no matter what it is. But in your case, it seems like your brother is also dealing with some sort of mental illness. What would you feel if you felt that they were "the one"? Would you feel absolute certainty that you will have a long, happy life together? Would you feel like nothing could ever tear you apart? Or is it a sexual attraction? The reality is that you can have this strong belief, you can work as hard as you can to make it come true... but, relationships are a two-way street. CA isn't a model RP state so yes, being smart AND pretty is going to get you a higher quality man here than being pretty or smart alone. This is so true. Unless you're a 10, you need to have brains if you ever want to find a man. Since you're going for CompSci, it is clear you have the brains! There will be more men than women in your classes, and be prepared for men you meet to be very excited that you are studying CompSci.

I think what a lot of couples forget is that they can enjoy social events alone/apart. I have friends who have similar dynamics, and the long-term solution is that you need to be okay with going out and doing social things on your own. It's great to have fun and get out, if your friends ask just say that your SO had a long day and just needs some rest. If they want to be weird about it, then that's their problem. Yes, this is big! It is also heavily related to sleeping well. If you aren't happy and full of anxiety and worry, you don't sleep. Take care of your skin. Hydrate, protect from the sun, use vitamin E oil or something like it to remove scarring. Don't neglect taking care of your hands and neck, as well as the rest of your body. Doesn't matter how much makeup you put on, if your hands look old then the jig is up. You can also take of your skin by not drinking alcohol, staying hydrated, eating a balanced meal with plenty of vitamins, and realizing that your skin needs extra hydration through lotions/natural oils.

I love this because it also works for the fact that a start-up can't just stop working together without some great consequence. But a large company, if the merger falls through, they'll still be okay because they have their independent resources. A lot of studies say that living together before marriage results in a higher probability of divorce. But what it's leaving out are some key details. Fitness is key for men on so many levels. Attraction, compatibility (lifestyle), and how confident you are in your form. As you get more healthy, you need to shed the "fat girl" mentality. I can understand this question, because I had a similar thought when I read this at first. But I think you need to clear the term "vulnerable" (here at least) to not mean "weak." Instead, a woman letting herself be vulnerable truly emboldens us and allows us to engage all aspects of being a woman. It is what softens us, it is what softens those around us. Woman are not weak by letting ourselves be vulnerable, instead we are able to expend and use every aspect of ourselves to be the best we can b…

Gratitude is a big part of a happy life and definitely about a happy marriage. This is what works for me and DH, and advice we've gotten from married couples (happily married and unhappily married): Never stop saying "thank you" for everything that they do for you, even if it seems pointless or that they "know" you are grateful. Never criticize in public, only praise. Keep your problems and issues behind closed doors. Always be ready to apologize. Remember that everything in life requires an act…

And she also talks about the new generation in Korea. Many live at home and can't move out, too expensive, and many of them are not in a rush to get married. Birth rate is low, apparently. A friend of mine who was raised in Korea, her parents still live there and are impossibly wealthy, told me that apparently when a girl is pregnant (even out of wedlock) a lot of people are excited. They just want the next generation to arrive and realized that their children will probably not do it the way the…

From what I understand, this new generation has a mentality that the old can't grasp, which is the feeling of entitlement. (I'm just explaining what I am told not what I can actually figure out.) the young never went hungry, they didn't lose family or friends or war, famine, or disease. My parents were born just post-war Korea, so things like a crate of oranges still bring a smile to their face. But the young kids, their generation's children, can have all they want right now. They want Mr or Ms…

I'm from California as well, and you're right. When I married a white man, my relatives were shocked that my "successful" parents would be "okay" with it. But they always told us when we were young to a marry someone we love and that we can be partners with. Even though they might have liked if we married a Korean man, my mom was the first to admit that something kind of went wrong in the new generation and that our (my and my sister's) generation of Korean men would not be a good fit for us.

I would not set your hopes on marrying a Korean man. I am Korean (American) and I'm going to warn you, this will sound awful, but Korean men very rarely marry a non-Korean. I had non-Korean friends go teaching in Korea and talk about the guys they date and the attention. But the moment they ask about seeing their home or meeting parents, they are gone. The unspoken rule is that Korean men can date anyone, but don't marry a girl unless she will carry on your family's name and bloodline in a way t…

A lot of people become resentful. But RPW mindset tends to be thinking about "this is not for him, this is for us". He does his part by keeping a roof over your head, warm and safe. But you need to do your part by making it a home. I always put it as, "he provides the house, you provide the home." I was in a similar place with my husband, before we married. I was very tight on money so I just felt the need to "earn my keep". But now I'm working full time and we had to level things out a bit more…

"When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time." I think you already explained it here. He grew up in a household where his father dominated, meaning he most likely saw his mom handle all of that. Sure, he helped out, but there was a clear division and not "50/50". Maybe Dad handled the outdoor stuff, or he hired someone to do it. Mom probably handled the stuff inside. It's pretty standard. Are you living in his house for free? Are you paying him rent? I agree. Bars are not a place I would consider safe. I don't drink and I don't really think drinking, for anyone, is a good idea. The idea of ingesting a toxin to purposefully alter your mind and perception sounds like a disaster, whether in a bar or in your home. But, you can easily change "bouncers" to "security guards." All of those places have security for when someone starts acting out, behaving belligerently, and threatening the safety of others. Just different barometers of what that migh…

I agree, it clearly is a "real rape", but yes, the real issue is not even drinking in bars alone. This happens in groups, with your friends. The question for me, at this point in my life, is should we even go drinking out in public? Let's say you were drugged, but avoided being raped thanks to your friends, I'm sure the drugging itself was distressing and life-threatening enough.

Drinking in excess This is often one I heard or read in court transcripts. "She must have drunk too much" is typically what the defense likes to say in response to a rape claim. But back in my undergraduate studies, my college town had an outbreak of drinks being spiked by drugs. It seems minor, but little sister's say "hi" whereas women say "hello" I don't actually mean older women never say "hi" but rather how it's said. They don't say it high pitched or squeakily. They say it with melody, rolls off the tongue, accompanied by a warm smile (not a cheeky or big grin). I think it's important to keep in mind that a long-lasting relationship cannot be one that keeps score. You're keeping track that you got him this, and he didn't get you that. That you want this time, or just whatever you gave him. Remember this: expectations ruin relationships. You keep thinking "Oh i'm doing something super sweet!" and then expect something. If her husband did break a banking law and is looking at 3 to 10 years, then imagine what possible crime he committed. It has to be something pretty big, so big to the point that when he gets back out no other finance company would ever touch him when he gets out. He'll never get a job in finance again. That being said, I suggest you try an apple cider wash and baking soda shampoo for a while. They are the same in height, strength, and both are equally necessary. But they are not identical. In fact, there are big differences. But these dif…

The courts call it "contempt of court" because you aren't following the order to pay child support. We are fully aware of how backwards and stupid this is, especially given the economy and that it may mean a lot of men may need to have an hour or more commute just to get to work. Example 1 Example 2 Example 3 It's awful. There needs to be a way to fix this, but the legal system is unable to stretch between such extremes. A father who earnestly wants to pay child support but has lost his job and …

This is a pretty accurate description. In general, the courts HATE it when a guy bails out on child support. Your husband needs to find a lawyer to basically advocate that he did not even know this child existed because it was a one night stand. If he knew, then he would have been there but he was only recently informed. This can help him look more favorable and they may not take such a large amount for "back pay" child support. They can take it straight from his paycheck (depending on the juris…

Made about 100 pork dumplings and 100 shrimp dumplings to freeze, eat, and share with my SO's family. Like potstickers. I also made cioppino tonight for a special dinner for our vacation. It went well! Scallops, shrimp, mussels, calamari, and red snapper. We're giving some to his dad tomorrow (his dad lives alone). Not sure what else this week. I think we are going to eat a lot of dumplings.....

Yes, this is absolutely true. I am a lawyer, and there are many cases when a pre-nup is thrown out the window. I can go on about this, because it is extremely interesting. But, I only wanted to add that during law school, the course on community property was almost 85% focused on attorney-client relations. The law is relatively easy to learn, compared to other subjects. But what is hard is how to counsel your client about getting a pre-nup, custody, and divorce. What we all learned to say is, "N…

I'm having my future sister-in-law and her family over (they're visiting from far away) and I'm making a complete Korean BBQ dinner. All from scratch! It'll be very exciting. I made some homemade dumplings/potstickers/etc (I don't know if there is a difference between them in English!), some kalbi, and will make some spicy noodles and chive pancake. I've never made dumplings on my own before, so it should be pretty exciting to see if they turn out well! So far, so good!

Sometimes being a "beauty" doesn't matter if your face is lined with bitterness. I was going to post about them being jealous, but rproller nailed it perfectly. Also, since I am going through a similar thing, it isn't even if they fancy your SO. Sometimes they will just go, "Her? But I'm right here and I'm way better than her..." and just try to tear you down. It's not about actually having him, but about being enough to have him. Have you ever seen a woman try to hook a guy just to see if she c…

We were talking about our childhoods. I told him about our family trips, and his eyes narrowed and he immediately asked what my dad did for a living. I told him. Then he told me his dad was a convicted felon and was gone all of his life. My dad's profession tends to be associated with wealth. It went downhill from there. I didn't react poorly to hearing about his dad. But I think at that point, no matter how I acted it would have gone very, very poorly. EDIT: If I recall correctly, he did say, "…

The Good With my fiancé. We watched a movie and talked for hours. We went to eat Chinese food nearby, and he insisted on getting these spicy noodles. I warned him they would be very spicy, but he promised m he could eat it. It resulted in him turning red, sweating, and then becoming gassy for the rest of the night. It was love! The Bad I met a guy who seemed great, until he realized that my family is wealthy. He had a very big chip on his shoulder and began to take any chance to make fun of me a…

In my experience, it's a lot about trust. Like VR said, you prequalified your captain because you made sure that his leadership was something you can be happy and work well with. So you have to trust that he'll make the right choices, not just for himself but for you both. And, as said earlier, if he is a good Captain then he will know what he can or can't do. I used to ride horses so I know what you're talking about the level of danger if he doesn't listen to you. A good captain will know that …

Oh I think a lot of people do! And I do, to an extent. I can understand her logic, since my Dad cannot cook at all (his first attempt was his last after one of us threw up after eating it) ALL of the cooking was on her. Now that I can cook as well, she lets me and is often relieved she doesn't have to anymore. Cooking can be an amazing outlet, and I can definitely agree it is something I enjoy to do. But you struck a key difference between "cooking" and "creating". One simply feeds your body, th…

Yeah, it sounds strange but the logic is that baking isn't exactly necessary. For her, baking is sweet things, pastries, cakes, etc. She never needed to eat those so she never made them. To her, my love of baking is wasteful (but she's glad I enjoy it). From how my parents grew up, they tend to be pragmatist, to the extreme. Edit: Further example is if I call home and talk to her, she rarely wants to talk about new things I cook because it's a very mundane aspect of life (and she cooks some real…

Hobbies include baking, yoga, reading (mainly non-fiction), piano, and ukulele. My mom played piano when we (my siblings and I) were growing up. She signed all of us up for lessons but it only stuck with me. I was most proficient so she ran with it. I still like to play, and my SO got me a digital piano (a keyboard) for Christmas. He knew I was saving for one and would ask me innocuous questions about what I would like. I also picked up the ukulele in law school and he got me a tenor ukulele to …

As a former student of philosophy, I believe that any moral obligations an individual has rises out of whatever is in their capabilities. You cannot expect a starving person to have the moral burden of feeding others. In the case of women, I think we have our limits (just as men have their limits) and we have our strengths. In my eyes, a woman who is a wife and a mother has the moral obligation to build up her family and not tear it down. She must honor her family name (this view comes from my A…

It's one that I made up! 1 lb of crab meat 3/4 cup of panko bread crumbs 1 whole corn with kernels cut off 1/3 cup of honey mustard (homemade with mayo, whole grain mustard, and honey) 1 egg 1 tsp of chives 1 tsp of parsley 1/2 tsp of hungarian paprika. 1/4 cup of flour, if too watery. mold it into thick, small patties. coat them in cornstarch and fry them on both sides to create a golden crust. then put in the oven at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Done!

Just made crab cake sandwiches on Kaiser roll for lunch! Over the week I plan on making a southern style chicken fried sandwich, plenty of salmon (in a variety of ways), and some pasta. I just made some pickled daikon radish for the week. Fiancé loves it and likes it with rice, soft boiled egg, and a piece of fish. It's a great meal to put together quickly and it's very tasty! He's been coming home for lunch for the past week and this week, so I get to make a really special lunch! It's been such…

Good recipe! I would recommend that you would not use sesame oil to fry/cook foods. It tends to be overpowering and can burn easily if you are not careful. It also is not always a flavor people like. When it is all done, you can add just a touch of sesame oil and toss the veggies/tofu (like in the pan, just make sure the heat is off). I taught this to my future brother-in-law, if you take a bite of food, keep your mouth closed and then exhale through your nose, you should not be able to "taste" …

An amazing list! I am now completely thankful that we have a pretty small apartment. I just wanted to throw my tip in here: using white vinegar (which is about $3.50 to $5.00 a gallon) to clean things from windows to counters can save money as well as make sure little hands and paws don't get sick from cleaners. We don't have children or pets, but I am sensitive to cleaners like Windex and 409 (I get headaches and/or allergic reactions). Effective Against Bacteria and Different Ways to Use It
