I’m currently reading Andrea Dworkin’s book, Heartbreak: The Political Memoir of a Feminist Militant. The very first sentences on the very first page of the preface? I have been asked, politely and not so politely, why I am myself. This is an accounting any woman will be called on to give if she asserts her will. In the home the question will be couched in a million cruelties, some subtle, some so egregious they rival the injuries of organized war.

It’s obviously her partner. But we’ve all been blind at one time or another. To prove it to herself, she should buy a new pack of condoms. She needs to tell her SO that she lost the previous pack and blame it on all the traveling she has done recently. Make sure he knows that there are new condoms and don’t tell him she found the holes. “Ugh. I’m so annoyed! I had to buy more condoms, because I’m a dork and lost the ones we had left.” Then… watch and wait.

My oldest brother and I have different fathers and look nothing alike. He’s 15 years older than me, and we’ve been mistaken for a couple. He seemed puzzled by that and quickly corrected them. However, his current girlfriend is younger than me. Men- logic not included.

Oh my god! She’s absolutely miserable on the inside. It won’t be long before it’s clear to everyone around her that she’s miserable. She’ll try to close the relationship back up. He flat out won’t or he’ll lie to her by continuing in secret. Eventually, she’ll leave him, and hopefully, she’ll seek out therapy to immediately start healing. I feel kinda bad for her. We’ve all been brainwashed by the patriarchy to different degrees. It’s selfish to say, but I’m glad that I was never in this deep.

Actions > Words. Always. I do have a tweak here. Actions = Words His actions and words should align. Always. He should tell you that he loves you AND show you that he loves you. When his actions and words aren’t the same, there’s something wrong. Never accept someone who is 1) all talk, 2) all actions, or 3) mismatched in words and actions.

My last two LV boyfriends met all of the items on the physical list. Nothing on the emotional. Men who are disrespectful to women can absolutely have traits that are traditionally associated with HVM, e.g. proper grooming. The disrespect is what makes a man Low Value. How that disrespect, i.e. Low Value, manifests differently is the reason why we vet men.

I did so much damage to myself, because I believed that I could reach the other person if I just figured out the correct combination of words, tools, strategies, etc. It didn’t matter if it was a work colleague, romantic partner, customer, family member, or friend; I would totally deplete myself in my endeavor to connect. But those words, tools, strategies, etc. only work if the other side respects me, and they’re exerting just as much effort as I am. What I couldn’t- or wouldn’t - see is that t…

I hope you’re saying that you’re not getting men, because you’re not willing to date men (for, at least, the time being). Because if you’re dating but not vetting men, then you’re missing a significantelement of FDS.

I was creeped out from the get-go. “…bundle into the back of his car…” Wtf? He’s talking in third-person about putting a woman into the back of his car. Is he putting her into a child’s car seat? Is she getting in of her own free will? Why must she sit in the back? Is it because his ego is writing shotgun? He’s one of those guys that will talk at you. He will complete a 25-minute monologue, then remark that we’ve been having, “a great conversation!”

One of the things that irked me to no end on OLD profiles was some variance of, “I like to go out; I also like to stay in sometimes.” So you’re a person. That’s just a description of a person.

I’m gonna write a song called, “It’s Not About You” then make every man listen to it every day. They will be forced to recite the lyrics from memory like an American can recite the pledge of allegiance. Before they speak/comment/post/email/doodle, men will have to say or write, “It’s not about me.” In church, men will be forced to say the “Scrote’s Prayer” which begins: Our father, who should’ve done better Cur-sed! Men don’t experience discomfort in general. Their shoes, clothing, and undergarments are all built for comfort and function. Men don’t flinch and tense their muscles as they walk quickly by a group of guys and pray that the men just leer instead of talk to or follow them. Men receive analgesics quicker than women in an emergency medicine situation. The world is built for them and their comfort. After all that coddling, of course guys are begging for the pain to stop after just a few moments of e…

Your attitude is so beautiful! It’s so difficult for people to admit a mistake and especially difficult (and rare!) for people to analyze their reaction. I catch myself slipping back into that misogyny sometimes. Everyone born and living in a patriarchy has to do a lot of work to overcome that level of brainwashing. What helps me is FDS. These women are so smart and insightful.

I don’t think this advice is to be used in the event that you feel suspicious. It’s a vetting strategy for any man that has, thus far, been high value. If you’re feeling suspicious of a guy, I guess this strategy could be used. But I would just block and delete if it feels off. My instincts have always borne out.

Ah, gotcha. I was guessing that using “girl” was just a mistake that we all make- which is slipping back into our internalized misogyny. Your response of “yep” seemed flip and dismissive. Sounds like I misunderstood the “yep.” Thank you for giving me the chance to correct course 😌 Also, speaking more than one language is so cool. I know that it’s true, but I still have to remind myself all the time that men’s default setting is to lie. The overwhelming majority of men have zero hesitation to babble absolute inane bullshit to support whatever position they’re currently guarding. It’s reflex. They lie to themselves if it serves the narrative. There’s no depth or foundation for their word salad. Men’s projection is very much a part of that lie to themselves. Hell, most of them can’t remember what they even said, because the…

Oooo! This theory is interesting. Seems to be a very intensive egocentrism at work. Which I have found in men out in the professional world too. I wanted my team to meet with a trade partner to discuss a new initiative. The company’s owner sent a group email that suggested we meet at “the office.” The company’s VP immediately sent an email just to me; she explained, “He means his office.” Because, duh, the company had more than 4 office locations in just the greater area. In some instances, their comment is just as lengthy as the post. And I’ve never read a single comment that had any value for women. Men are always speaking about themselves. Always. Men are completely disconnected from reality. And people will look at something like that and say, “Aw, he’s shy! He was hoping they could fall in love! That’s definitely happened to me too. The men who are best at that (in my experience) are elder Boomers who worked in an office setting for their professional lives. They seem so skilled at a sneaky insult that takes a minute to actually hit you.

It’s so difficult to endure something like that. You’re not weak for having feelings. Hopefully, you can use your past experience in a future encounter. You can remember that clapping back or biting back does not give you the satisfaction or peace of mind that you hoped. The absolute height of satisfaction is not reacting to his bullshit. My LVX would whine at me to try CrossFit with him. I asked him ONE time to try a Pilates class with me, and he scoffed at me. That guy’s reaction after he grabs her ass and she looks horrified- I mean, the ACCURACY. And I have to clarify that I am referring to the FIRST incident since that kind of assault was depicted twice. I remember a time in my early 20s when my friends and I were all headed to the bars. The name of the book is escaping me at the moment. What I do recall is the author noting that women’s presence and influence (especially, professionally) in the world was inversely proportional to the physical space they were expected to occupy. As women gained ground in equality, the popular/ideal physique for women became thinner and thinner, i.e. weaker and weaker.

So I’ve received a note like this. And yeah, it freaked me the fuck out. I found it under my windshield wiper when I was leaving for work. Meaning, he lived in my apartment complex, so I was always terrified every time I had to be in the parking lot. The note was SO long, written in a teal blue gel pen, and riddled with grammatical errors and oddities. I swear one of the reasons that Pewdiepie is so popular is his beauty. The boys and men who loyally follow him are delighted that Felix is such a prominent gamer and unbelievably good looking. He’s the fairytale version of a gamer. Felix is incredibly wealthy, very handsome, and happily married to a beautiful woman. The reality is every gamer I’ve known has awful eating habits and a mediocre body, at best.

Also, the ranting and raving about her feeling jealous and how she’s a bad person for (potentially) feeling jealous. This idea that jealousy is inherently bad needs to die. Jealousy is a natural and healthy reaction to interpersonal situations. Jealousy is a driving factor for the concept of monogamy; having jealous love means being intolerant of unfaithfulness. Now, being jealous and resentful is a terrible way to live. Also, using jealousy to justify controlling, abusive behavior is unacceptab…

Men will absolutely stand on “social norm” “supposed to” and “law” when it supports their argument. I’ve seen several men argue that the wage gap can’t be real, because it’s against the law. They said that with (I’m assuming) a straight face. Exclaiming, “They’re cousins!” is just pretending that this exact grossness doesn’t happen all. the. time. because it “shouldn’t” happen. White women have absolutely left WOC behind in every feminist movement. White feminists have focused on solutions or goals that exclude or alienate WOC, and it comes at a detriment to the entire movement. Intersectionality is vitally important to having a successful feminist movement. A white woman’s experience with sexism is not interchangeable with a WOC’s experience with sexism. White women have to be better allies. That’s not up for debate. It’s fact.

I’ve seen plenty of men say that they hate FDS, but agree with x,y, and z. Honestly, I’d happily accept some men and women “rejecting” FDS, but accepting the philosophies anyway. Men claimed use of the word “crazy,” and it’s easily one of their best strategies for abusing women. If someone is “crazy,” their actions, feelings, and speech are incongruent with reality and, therefore, invalid. You can dismiss that person out of hand. The moment men play that card, women (understandably) feel moved to prove they’re not “crazy.” But “crazy” people don’t know they’re “crazy,” right? What a deliciously awful trap for women. Victim blaming is shitty. Women have been conditioned to endure this kind of abuse from men. It’s one of the reasons we share stories on FDS. We’re taking the blinders off each other. In all seriousness, the kind of men who will be drawn to this app will be physically violent towards women. It’s all about power and control. Any hint that a woman’s obedience is not absolute will result in him flying off the handle. Eventually, it wasn’t enough if I obeyed my parents and said what they wanted me to say. If they perceived that I even silently disagreed with them, I was punished.

I was listening to a podcast hosted by a woman that had an episode featuring a male guest, who’s focus was minimalism. While listening, I started scrolling his website, which had a listicle for “clutter busting” your household. One of the tips was “Fold Clean / Remove Dirty Clothes Immediately,” and he described it as a “game-changer.” He admitted that he used to be a “throw them on the floor” guy but explained the value of putting away clean and dirty clothes immediately. THEN He revealed that …

Too many women have been physically attacked or killed, because men were pissed at being rejected. Among other things, I’ve been hit in the head by a man I politely declined. I’m not taking the risk of purposely pissing him off.

Also, sure, provide free condoms. It’s almost like we should make it easy for people to access products and resources for their health. But seriously. Feminine hygiene products should be free. And it’s desperately needed in developing countries. Girls miss school due to menstruation. How can women possibly have an equal place in the world when they don’t even have the opportunity to be present???

Honestly, I think they don’t care to know the truth. They absorb just enough vague information to form their own fantastical lies about women. They have no interest in dealing with reality- especially if it dispels their illusion that women are the bad guys. We would rather wear diapers... FFS... if I could hold my period, I would be thrilled. No spending money on menstruation products. No bloody underwear, clothes, or bedding. No “smuggling” a tampon up my shirt sleeve, so other people don’t se…

Yes. I had a man ask me if I could just hold it. And I have so many questions about that. What did he think menstruation products were for if women could just “hold it”? We were just lazy and didn’t want to get up to go to the bathroom? Forget not knowing how periods work. He understood incontinence. He thought women were “potty trained” up until puberty, then just... what? They forgot? This dumbass has to be out there somewhere putting puppy pads down for his girlfriend.

I had the same understanding of the poem. The mother (and presumably the author) is speaking about her son while he is in her womb. He’s growing and grown within a woman. What was once child-like wonder and innocence has hardened into cruelty. He now sees women as foreign and separate from himself when he was once fed, protected, and developed from the body of a woman.

Early diagnosis for cervical cancer. Mortality rate for giving birth. Likelihood of r@pe, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner. All these bleak things are so much bleaker for WOC. Of course, those three items above don’t begin to even scratch the surface of the disparity.

I applaud you for being clear and direct, then taking action. Queen shit for sure. I’m still working on the delay/hesitancy that happens when I first set boundaries, so I find stories like this inspiring. My comment was motivated in part by a particular word choice. I’m wondering if there’s a difference in our lexicons that’s potentially confusing me. To me, muting and blocking someone on social media are two different actions with very different results. The former provides less visibility but …

Recently, I commented about that video of a man kicking and punching an Asian woman on the streets of NYC. The attack took place in front of building with a security officer that was just watching it happen. More men gathered at the front of the building and just looked on as this man continued to beat this woman. Finally, one of the men walked forward and shut the door to the front of the building. I sobbed. I’m tearing up now as I type. I saw that video more than a week ago, and I think about …

That’s not a criticism. It’s a fact. A heartbreaking fact. Unless you block and delete, you’ll be on this seesaw for months at a minimum and, more likely, you’ll be on the seesaw for years. I’m so excited for you! Just hold on to that goal and dream. That always helps me endure something. My average resting heart rate dropped 15 BPM within 2 weeks of me entering this period of extremely low male interaction. I’m sorry that happened to you! But yeah, once the project is paid in full, you lose all negotiating power. A lot of my professional life has been spent in contract management (not my current work though). Even with my significant experience with contractors, I’ve still made missteps and been taken advantage of. So I wouldn’t chide yourself too much for being the good guy that got burned. A…

The job I had years ago included a lot of contract management. Finding electricians was an absolute nightmare. So many companies declined to bid, because they just didn’t have time. Other companies didn’t even show up to our scheduled on-site meetings to start the bidding process. Again, it was because they were too busy. It took me about 9 months to get more than one bid for the project. This was years ago. It’s only gotten worse.

There are “office” jobs in construction. Management is an entire subset of construction. People can get a degree in construction management. Also, trade work is in HIGH demand right now. There is a serious deficit, and people (especially home builders) are desperate to figure it out. Meanwhile, tradespeople are making a ton of money and have more work than they know what to do with.

Totally possible. In retail, it’s typically not about making up hours that were missed. You’re only worried about coverage on the floor at any given moment. But I can definitely see him calling in because he’s going to be late and a manager just tells him to work the later shift. No matter the reason, his work schedule is not something for which his wife has to be on call. He is so childish. I feel badly for his ex-wife and his son. He took someone else’s shift. Voluntarily. “Work for someone” means a worker called out of a shift and the manager reached out to him and asked to adjust his hours to the later shift (retail shifts are typically staggered by two hours). Traffic is higher later in the day, especially on a Friday, so the manager took less coverage between 10a-12p rather than 4p-6p. OR he traded shifts with someone who wanted to leave earlier in the day because they had plans on Friday night. Some people will offer…

/u/Mediocre_Principle, you might want to take his name out of your phone contacts, so his phone number will show up at the top of the screenshot of the text message(s). Since a user can enter any name for a phone contact, it could be argued that there’s no proof who sent you that message. But with a phone number (instead of a name) showing above the text, there’s no doubt. (/u/RabidWench, your username reminds me of Rab Witch from Jenna Marbles. I would bet an entire limb that this is true. Look at all the YouTube videos with men trying cosmetics or any grooming habit that is traditionally performed only by women. They put on lip plumper and practically scream. I’ve watched a man react like this in IRL as well. It can be intense but it’s not that bad. And while I’ve had a lot of really great sex with a couple of boyfriends, none of my toys try berating me into butt stuff. My toys also don’t produce disgusting warm fluid that I don’t want anywhere near my body. Finally, none of my toys have ever told me that I wasn’t a bitch- I was just acting like a bitch. Men need to clean up their act. They messy.

Who remembers Jessica Simpson being fat shamed in 2010? They claimed she was wearing “mom jeans.” She was eviscerated in the media, because she didn’t look like she did five years prior when she did the Dukes of Hazzard movie. Meanwhile, she was a size 4 and looked GREAT. If she would have been at some local bar, men would have been falling all over themselves to talk to her. That experience was so traumatizing to her that it’s an entire chapter in her memoir. But yeah, men’s bodies are commente…

Men only care about protecting their experience of women. Women aren’t fully formed human beings in the eyes of men. We’re merely lifestyle accessories for them. If a woman does anything that isn’t fulfilling a man’s expectations for his experience, he wants her punished. It’s of no consequence to him if this other human is having a hard time. She ruined his experience. Then you dared to question the judgment that he had rendered. He sentenced her to be a bad woman forever, and you were to have …

Every time I read a version of, “Women are allowed to express their emotions,” I clench my teeth. No, they’re not. Women allow other women to express their emotions without punishment. And the women expressing themselves are still expected to keep the expression constructive and controlled to some degree (e.g. not smashing another person’s phone out of anger). It’s men who don’t permit women or men to express emotions without punishment of some kind. A woman doesn’t even have to display strong e…

A guy I dated made several self deprecating jokes about being small. Because of the jokes, I suspected he was actually on the larger side. I finally called him out and shared my theory. He went quiet. Dude was the size of my forearm. So yes, my theory was correct lol I think he just enjoyed the humor, and it didn’t bother him due to his size. It’s likely he was also amused that he was “tricking” me with a good surprise.

I laughed at this too!! It’s awkward phrasing to be sure. More importantly, what in the hell is that logic? So he didn’t agree with her? He decided to (pretend to) agree with her? And what was he gonna do if he didn’t agree? Force her to stay? That’s not his decision. He’s flipping the narrative. Instead of her making the choice to leave, he’s reframing it to be his decision. If men weren’t so terribly violent and hurtful, I would feel sad for them. They’re pathetic.

I wanted to go on a walk yesterday. During the day. And still felt unsafe doing it. I got super angry about it and railed at the sky for a few minutes. Two years ago, a woman was walking down the street from here and got attacked in the middle of the day with people all around. I’m sure there are a lot more stories/incidences of this happening nearby. That’s just the first story that popped into my head. I just want to exist in the world.

A week ago, I saw that horrifying security video of a man punching and kicking an Asian woman on a street in NYC. The huge security officer just watches it happen from inside the building. Other men in the building walk to the front of the building. They’re just watching it happen. One of the men actually shuts the door to the building. He‘s a couple of feet away from this suffering woman, and he does nothing. I think about that video everyday multiple times a day. My heart is broken for BIPOC. …

I had this same thought. The pronouns are gender neutral. But the other users are right. It’s almost always a man that leaves a woman with a health condition. The stories that women share on this subreddit are meant to open the eyes of other women. We realize that we all have similar stories. That despite the constant campaign from men, the truth is we’re not crazy or asking for too much. They are.

Since March of last year, I have left my own property under 20 times. I’ve gone to hospitals/doctors, pharmacies, and a store one time. I think it hits differently when it’s another man, because there the possibility of physical harm/attack is much more real. Men like this perceive their attraction to women to be power that these women have. Men fear this perceived power; they’re angry and resentful about the powerlessness they feel. In order to eliminate this threat, men will abuse or even kill these “powerful” attractive women. Meanwhile, women are completely uninvolved in this imaginary power struggle. They also have no interest in wielding this imaginary power. They’re also completely powerless to change this dynamic that these men have construct…

Why do men whine about the water temperature that women use for their showers? They act like it’s lava. Idk. It must be nice to be warm all the time. I feel like I would be a happier person if I was the correct temperature the majority of the time. It’s genuinely one of the reasons I’m looking to move. It hurts to be cold. It’s dumb and makes me angry.

I think women who endure pregnancy and birth are magical. I don’t know how women survive all of that. And, heartbreakingly, I know not all women do in fact survive. I feel genuinely awful for women who are miserable during pregnancy. Not only is that terrible to endure, but it seems especially cruel when pregnancy is often held up as some kind of ethereal Mother Earth fairy experience. When new parents are really stressed about the level of care needed for an infant, I want to giggle. They’re cu…

Sometimes I get so annoyed with how whiny men are about so many trivial things, but they scoff at women expressing their real pain and fear of violence from living in the patriarchy. Sadly, what will most likely happen is she will complain to her friends and girlfriends about how annoying he is. She’ll grow resentful of his refusal to care for his child. When the kid is 6 or 7, she’ll seriously consider leaving. When the kid is 12 or 13, they’ll finally divorce after years of ugliness.

My cursory thought was, “He is so childish.” How the hell is he going to take care of a baby? He’s never going to change a diaper? Feed the baby? Burp the baby? Children don’t get any less gross as they age. Toddlers and pre-adolescent children are always covered in something. They cough in your face and let snot run down their face.

I had a friend who introduced that kind of heads up in the best way possible. I completely stole her phrasing. She would say something like: “Because I’m your friend, I wanted to tell you that there is some spinach in your teeth.” It’s just a sweet, soft opener for a potentially awkward social interaction. I’ve never read anything on FDS that I would categorize as, “bitter.” Angry, frustrated, annoyed, unamused, hurt, embarrassed, ashamed, sad, disgusted, indifferent, hopeful, tickled, excited, and passionate are all emotions that I frequently see. But I don’t see FDS having openly hostile and hateful monologues or dialogues or fantasies about the sincere desire to gleefully inflicting pain on men. Lol yes! Pretty much any time I post on FDS, I comment at least once, “men should just leave women alone.” It would solve so much misery in the world. The ultimate utopia is one that has loving, respectful men. But until they figure that out (because I’m no longer willing to help them while they pretend that they’re trying to improve), we just need men to leave us alone.

I mean, it is unusual for women to have the unyielding expectation for men to show us respect. The shocking part is that it’s revolutionary instead of standard. I have a feeling this author has to spend a lot of time talking really loudly and quickly about how awful and wrong FDS is in order to avoid letting any of the truth sink in. Amen. Honestly, it’s incredibly difficult to let go of the mirage that men want the same things as women. Women think a committed relationship is composed of two people who respect each other and want to be happy together. Women think men are looking to find their equal in order to live happily together. YES! I noticed that too! By the “gray,” he meant he endlessly derailed the conversation using “what about...” and “what if...” My mom talks to me like this. In family counseling, I told her (and the therapist) that I was unhappy she lied about getting the marriage certificate, then asked me to lie to my siblings about it. Her response? “It’s not like I lied about being pregnant.” ... what? What does a completely fantastical supposition have to do with this conversation, my dear post-menopausal m…

Lol! This comment made me giggle. My uncle loved vanilla with his scrambled eggs. There are two options for vanilla scrambled eggs: savory or sweet. The savory route is really simple. When beating the eggs in a bowl, just add vanilla extract. The amount is truly to taste; it might take a little trial and error. I wouldn’t add more than a 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract to 2 eggs. To elevate this recipe, you can add a bit of cream or milk. Then pour the mixture into a pan and scramble as normal. Salt …

She sounds severely beaten down. Absolutely no self worth. I have a sinking feeling that her new boyfriend isn’t a good guy. Two years does not seem long enough after surviving that horror show. It takes time to recover emotionally, financially, mentally, etc. She had therapy. I’m glad for that. But what else? What position is she in financially and professionally? How vulnerable is she to this man? I don’t consider a new man to be the “happily ever after” ending. Healing and leveling up is the …

Rape isn’t sex. It’s violence. It’s violating. It’s trauma. Someone wrapping their arms around you and refusing to let go is not a hug. Someone driving your car without permission is not sharing. Someone rubbing your shoulders at work while you pray for it to stop is not a massage. The actions might be similar, but the social contract was broken. Someone was violated. Someone was hurt. Rape is not sex.

In the 60’s, my grandmother went to college while doing all the cooking & cleaning and raising 4 children under 15 years of age. After she graduated, she began teaching at the college. My grandfather had a full time job and... that’s it. My grandmother was a little surprised when I told her how incredible it was that she did that. No one helped her do it. My mouth dropped open when I read the edit. FFS And I’m officially over people using the word “vanilla” to describe something as “boring.” Vanilla is amazing. It’s delicious. Vanilla ice cream is the foundation for most ice creams. Vanilla ice cream itself is the magical companion to pie and brownies. Also, vanilla can be added to endless kinds of food. I wish I could remember what user it was, because it was so significant. Someone on FDS summarized men’s emotional “block” more eloquently and accurately than I’ve ever witnessed before or since. I’ll attempt to capture the concept: Men are emotional. They’re even “permitted” to feel emotions. They’re not able and/or “permitted” to claim that feeling. Men cannot name the emotion, which leaves them unable to filter or process the emotion, i.e. demonstrate emotional intelligence. I have an anecdot…

Women would pass down their surname to their children. Universal childcare and healthcare (looking at you, US) would be widely available. Marriage between a man and woman would be unusual. And I’d like to talk about just how significant that consent is for sex work. Let’s set aside, for a moment, the people who are forced into sex work. We’ll just examine the “volunteers” as it were. If Belle Delphine was paid the same amount of money she makes now for working part time in an office, how quickly do you think she’d disappear from sex work? Women don’t have to communicate that they want emotional support from men. These are all basic ideals. Men know. They don’t want to, so they don’t. Men aren’t trying to pair with a woman, live with her for the rest of his life, have kids with her, and die with her at his side. Men and women are not looking for the same things in a relationship. Women want all those wonderful things. Men want a mommy bangmaid who looks, says, and does what the man wants. If one woman isn’t fulfilling his expectations, he gets another woman. That’s why men leave when women get sick. That’s why men don’t help with child care. That’s why men won’t marry women. …

I don’t know how much nuance is necessary for “Yes, I would force women to have sex with me if I could get away with it.” Racists do not want to be called racists. Totally understandable. I think it’s shocking to hear people acknowledge that they’re monsters. It’s common for people to lie to themselves and others about how awful their actions are. Yeah, it was weird. I mean, the guy was our age and he was clearly there with his friends. But the club was either asked or felt obligated to just sprinkle in some women as party favors. Without asking us. I did a lot of promotional modeling at that age. The weirdest ones were “atmosphere” models. The gig was just to be present at the event and be pleasant. And, sometimes, wear a brand specific dress. I remember one event I did was for Crown Royal at a large stadium in a very large city. Our job…

Absolutely. I think men often go out of their way to keep their emotional intelligent low and their self awareness stunted. That way, it’s easier to paint a pretty picture of themselves. Ignorance is bliss... for the ignorant.

Oh, I’ve had several good friends who are gay men, and I trust them completely. They would never raise a hand towards me. My best friend in my senior year of high school was gay. There’s no way he would lay a hand on another human being in anger. And I agree with you. The LGBTQIA+ community has a lot of mental health challenges. The discrimination and lack of resources are deadly to queer men and women. Both homicide and suicide are a significant problem (to varying degrees for different cohorts…

Madonna / Whore complex 100% It’s truly astonishing to see the juxtaposition of the types of mental gymnastics men and women do. Ugh, I’m so sorry! He can’t be violent, because he’s gay. Alright then. I had so many gay friends. I was THE person to come out to, and I tried to start a Gay Straight Alliance in my tiny Midwest town. Gay people are people, so they can be anything a person can be. Including violent. Now I’m wondering if his thought process was, “Violence is overwhelming carried out by heterosexual men, therefore...” I mean, that’s still insane. I’m sure your definition of “average” is a million times better than the average man. Men genuinely don’t care what women want or need. Men do not see themselves clearly at all. I’m conventionally attractive and so many unattractive or mediocre men have no hesitation hitting on me. One night in my mid-twenties I was out at a bar with friends. Over the course of a couple hours, a few different unattractive men approached me. It was so off putting, that I turned to my friend and (jokingly) asked, “What do I look like to other people?” The experience made me question reality for a second. When my mom was 15, she won a motorcycle in a raffle. She enjoys recounting how she would ride onto the army base with her jacket and helmet on. After she would park and take her helmet off, she would take down her hair and shake it out. She enjoyed the jaw drop from all the guys who thought it was just some dude on his bike. Yeah, I think back to before birth control existed, and I wonder how women could agree to have sex. There’s just no way that I would be willing to roll the dice on getting pregnant over and over. What I also find interesting about the role reversal is that it would be more effective. If men were made to have the curfew, it would be safer than a curfew for women. When men say, “Not all men,” my first thought is, “So?” So what if it’s not all men? Whatever conversation about women’s pain was taking place is no less substantive because of a man’s whiny, uninvited interjection. In contrast, “Not all men,” has no substance or insight. My mother sacrificed so much for my father’s (at one time successful) business. After their divorce, their 30-year marriage left her with nothing. She has no money saved for retirement. She was upside down on a mortgage (thanks to using the home’s equity to pay off my father’s debts), so she made nothing from se…

Women commonly contribute to men’s professional success by providing unpaid labor. Childcare, housework, and cooking are all provided by wives, so men can go into work early, stay late, and participate in networking events. Men can be more productive at work, because they’re not drained and exhausted from going to the dance recital, doing the grocery shopping, packing the school lunches, and performing the emotional labor in their marriage. Women, without even realizing that’s what they’re doing…

Write the letter. Don’t send it to him. There’s power in forming the words. Personally, writing out things like this can stop my mind from repeatedly cycling through the fractured thoughts of the letter that I would write, because I wrote it. The letter is written. My brain can close that tab. It can give me peace.

Vasalgel is injected into the vas deferens, so this contraception wouldn’t be self administered. But your premise is spot on. I remember my friend asking her husband about getting a vasectomy, so she could stop battling birth control that was ruining her skin and mood stability. He said that he had never even thought about the procedure or idea that he could (or should) shoulder the burden of contraception. It wasn’t even in his realm of reality. Men are the shittiest people.

It’s child sexual abuse material. Pornography features adults, who (allegedly) consented to the creation and distribution of sexual imagery. When children are involved in sexual imagery, it’s always abuse. All members of FDS (should) know how exploitative and harmful pornography is for all parties. Even so, child sexual abuse material shouldn’t be lumped into the vast realm of pornography. It’s not a category or a preference. It’s a crime. And you’re right. She’s a child. After arguing forever about whether or not he mansplained everything to me (including what a “work commute” was), I went outside to find my car towed from the spot that he told me to park in. Getting my car back the next day was a nightmare. It was POURING rain, I had to leave during work, take an Uber and a FERRY to get to the tow company. I Venomed that asshole for the cost of my Uber rides to home/work/tow company and the cost of getting my car out of the impound lot. He replied that he thoug…

You don’t seem blunt or nasty at all, but I appreciate the disclaimer all the same. My long explanation was in response to being told that I accused FDS of being racist. I never ever said that. I’ve never even thought that. I felt like my intention and reasons were not only misunderstood but had been warped into something else entirely. Something ugly. So my longer reply wasn’t to over explain why I was right or change the mod’s reaction or even to hammer home my point. Because, even if no one r…

FDS is a fantastic space for women that has the power to change lives (it’s already changed mine). I’m really appreciative to the mods and the members that make FDS that way. I apologize for doing a poor job communicating that 1) I do know FDS’s membership is diverse and 2) I have no doubt that racist, homophobic, or other discriminatory remarks have ever been tolerated in this community. I never meant to imply anything to the contrary. My comment wasn’t an accusation of wrongdoing at all. My co…

You’re so right. BIPOC are doing the lion’s share. I’m trying to do what I can in my own to learn, so that I can be a better cog in the wheel. I spent a lot of time last summer working through the shame of being part of the White Silence. I needed to do that, so I could be an effective part of the movement. Now, I’d be lying if I said that I don’t still feel guilt and regret, but I don’t let it lead or prevent me from participating. I don’t want to burden BIPOC women in our FDS community and ask…

Oooo! Saviors. That makes total sense. I’m always a little fascinated by the range of awareness in men. Specifically, the awareness of their destruction and toxicity. Some men scheme and plan their choices to maintain the power imbalance. Some find misogyny so ingrained and natural that they don’t even realize they’re doing it. And plenty of men have a nice little mix and range of awareness.

Literally to survive. Being financially secure on our own is the only way to possibly be free. Without our own money, women are dependent on men; without our own money, women don’t have choices or rights. I was thinking this too! Dinner is usually more expensive than lunch. Refreshments can easily cost more than movie tickets. A pair of shoes compared to an entire SUIT? Unless the shoes are designer and the suit is JCPenney, that’s crazy unbalanced. I know this is one of the more minor points, but like you, I’d heard this speech before. Maybe my boredom and eye rolling allowed me the opportunity to nitpick on her misguided mindset.

Ugh, I’ve been thinking about this so much lately. Just a cesspool of spoiled genes. I mean, what in the hell is with men in their twenties having the hair pattern of bozo the clown? How are they bald before 30? What IS that?!

Seriously! All the men complaining there isn’t a soft place for them. Chief, you’re doing it to each other. Stop being hateful to everyone. Simple.

Most of them will die swearing, “Men good. Women bad.” Because reality has nothing to do with their beliefs. Once, mid-heated debate about men vs. women, a guy shrieked, “Well, men are in charge of everything!” I spread my arms out wide and looked around frowning (at the state of things), then did a slow clap. Other people chuckled while his face went a little red. It was more theatrical in place of intellectual, but it was effective none the less. The reign of men has stumbled. I would love to …

That’s sickening. The smartest, funniest, kindest, and most interesting people I know are women. And the dumbest, cruelest people I’ve ever met are all men.

At the beginning of the video, she explains that the woman she’s referencing are women who knowingly stay in a toxic relationship only because they don’t want to be alone. (In order for those women to make the “weak” choice to stay, they would have to know 1) they’re in a toxic relationship and 2) that their sole reason for staying is to avoid being alone). This message would not be applicable to women who stay because they: - do not have the resources to get out - don’t realize the relationship…

They’re reading to relish in their anger and hate. They’re not reading to learn or understand. They already think they have it figured out, and they’d be happy to tell you aaaaall about it. I would imagine if men actually ingested the real content on this sub, they would be terrified. This growing movement is all about women abstaining from men while simultaneously building self-love, career growth, and physical/mental/emotional health. We have no interest in swimming in a pool of hate, but men …

I need a tshirt with this in it. The back of the shirt will be a beautifully manicured hand flipping the bird, and the caption will read, “Fuck that.”

Men just see women as part of their life’s experience. To them, a woman is a lifestyle accessory and/or some passing entertainment, so men have expectations for women to perform for them. You don’t find his sexist jokes charming and funny? You’re a bitch. You tell him that you already know the basics that he’s explaining to you? Then you’re mean, because you’re ruining his fun being the big, smart man. Ever have a man tell you, “Wow! You’re actually funny!” ? Yeah, you’ve surpassed his low expec…

It very much seems to be about power. Men were able to manipulate and extract sex from the very first interaction with a woman. They “win”! Trophy. Conquest. Entertainment. Men don’t see women as people. Sex is simply another way to dominate and use women. At this point, men repulse me. They... they just suck at everything lol

I second this. Pre-FDS, I stopped dating, because it was miserable. Rather, I was miserable. When I was OLD a few years ago, the new phenomenon I noticed was men’s expectation to meet up. So many guys would ask, “How many messages until we can meet up in person?” Many of them would whine about “wasting” their time talking to women, who ultimately didn’t meet them in person. I remember being outraged and flabbergasted by their insanity. Date = sex had moved to message = date = sex. They actually …

One of my ex-boyfriends would get angry at me, because he felt bad about what he did. For example, if he accidentally stepped on my foot, he would, of course, immediately apologize. I was still in pain, so I was holding my foot waiting for it to pass. He would yell, “I SAID I’m sorry!” Yeah, dude. Got it. I forgive you for the accident. But the words aren’t magic. My foot still hurts. I’m not yelling at you about it. I’m just coping with the pain. I knew what made him angry was that he felt bad,…

Right??? I came home from a pilates class and excitedly told my then boyfriend about my significant progress with Teaser, which (I explained) is crazy hard to master. He had no reaction. Literally continued to stare at the tv screen. When I called him out (cOmMuNiCaTe), he kept saying that he “didn’t know” that it was good or something to be excited about. Oh? How about the part where I was excited or the moment when I told you how difficult it was? Too subtle for you, bud? Need me to draw pictu…

When I was still using OLD, the first time I had a profile on Match, I received about 80 messages in less than 24 hours. I felt physically sick from the onslaught. It was completely overwhelming and totally disheartening. Clearly, these men had not taken the time to see if we were compatible. They’d seen my physical appearance and clicked. So to see if there were any viable candidates (and we all know there were NOT), I would be forced to wade through each one. I almost deleted my profile immedi…

I couldn’t breathe from laughing so hard at “...make-believe that you do with your dick...” Men are having an imaginary tea party and they’ve invited their dick and porn. No one is having a good time, and the tea is just as imaginary as their respect for women.

You’re absolutely correct. That woman suffered. And by the way, for those SO concerned with this man’s suffering, his penis was reattached and worked normally. I bet it hurt. A lot. Thankfully. His FRIENDS testified this asshole’s abuse and obsession with rape. I mean, come on.

The documentary “Lorena” examines the story of Lorena Bobbitt, who cut off her husband’s penis after years of abuse and rape. It’s extremely well done, and discusses the larger social issues surrounding the case. Seeing Lorena struggle to calmly tell her story on the witness stand was absolutely heart breaking. The documentary was produced by Jordan Peele, and it is available on Amazon Prime. Also, let me say this: we need to remember that the propaganda against women is comprehensive. Do not le…

I have dated one gamer in my life. He was the cleanest, most organized man I’ve ever met in my life. His home, clothes, and person were always clean. He’s certainly the exception to the rule. Regardless of hygiene, he still engaged in typical gamer behavior that I found mind boggling. The time dedicated to a game is insane. And I say “a game” because sports is crazy too. Instead of gamers, I’ve dated sports fanatics. And I say fanatic, because none of them watch just one game. They watch all of …

The “I contribute to most of the household expenses...” struck me as well. Most? Most??? So not all of the household expenses. And he said “contribute” instead of “split” or “50/50,” so she’s paying the majority of the living expenses. No wonder she’s asking him to pay for her new phone. All her money has been spent paying his bills. I hope he pays for that new phone, and she uses it to find a new place to live. Her new home, without him, will always be sparkling clean. She won’t have to pretend…
