In my experience messaging hundreds, if not thousands of women by this age in my life (I've been a dating app junky since I was like 12 pretending to be an older guy to get pics), the "hi, how are you" line will not work unless you've got some serious reputation or attractive profile photos to show up, and even then there's at least 20 better lines you could use.

I actually have been reading that book and I wanted to reread it again to touch up on the topics he has. I used to smile a lot but I have since fallen out of that habit, I will start doing it again so I don't always look so pissed off. I recommend people get skilled at using the first shittest solution, which is to come back with a funny line or over exaggerated answer. It creates a little bit better environment rather than waving or laughing off what the girl says, which may be a little weak if you really want to make an impression. In any case, even agreeing with the girl is an easy start to developing a reflector for a lot of the stuff they try to pull on you.
