The only RP type of women I have met in my area have been via the nursing home I used to visit. I have one other female mother I get along with, but she's not aware of RPW and even though she does have a few rp traits she still gets very emotional and crazy at times. She doesn't use the internet much so I'm not sure if it's worth introducing her to this sub. I have mentioned that I go on a forum where women discuss self improvement and working on the domestic skills she's very good at. Maybe pri…

1) If you have similar parents to me, how did it affect your relationship with you SO? Did it make having a RPW-type relationship with your SO more difficult? Similar in the sense that they weren't very good parents, and caused harm. Thankfully, my SO pointed out some of their behavioural traits to me early on in our relationship. It didn't seem true at first.. But I saw their true nature when we both lived with them for a while. They weren't able to guilt trip him, and my narcisstic mother who …

I never had wealth like yourself, but one of the biggest things that helped me develop domestic and simple living skills was being poor for a couple of years. I could always call my folks if I needed grocery money, so I did have a backup if needed, but I would try and stretch out my small amount of cash and make the most of it. Instead of dining out I would cook meals for myself and friends with less then $10. Even though I could have gotten money I chose not to.. Maybe try setting a budget of s…

The only other RP type of woman I talk to who is understanding is an elderly lady I met at the local nursing home I used to visit. Her generation was more traditional, and her and her husband live at the home together. They are country folk and remind me a lot of myself and my partner. She is the only genuinely supportive person, aside from my man, that I know. Family is crazy. Aside from that, I don't really have female friends. Those that I talk to at work I keep my opinions and views to mysel…

While you may have preferences for appearances keep in mind that who you may settle for may not exactly fit into that category. Keep an open mind. My partner definitely does not fit into what I used to find visually attractive, (I used to also have a thing for pretty/thin/feminine looking boys and he is muscular, hairy and like a giant) but his charisma and alpha traits actually helped develop physical attraction and now I can't keep my hands off him. When we began talking I didn't even know wha…

If it's something pressing, time sensitive or important I sometimes ask my partner (when initially discussing the topic) something along the lines of, "would it help if I made a note for you or set an alarm for you?" sometimes this is very helpful for him, and if he declines then I drop it. Really depends on the task or thing that needs to be done. Sometimes things like cleaning or simple household tasks that I'm capable of I just do myself without mentioning unless he has specifically said that…

These are a few of the books that have been very helpful in my process of self-actualization and personal growth - . "Tao teh Ching" by Lao tzu , "the prophet" by kahlil Gibran, and "the meditations" by Marcus Aurelius . You can google and find all of these texts readable online :)

It think it really depends on the individual and the kind of relationship they are in. I'm 24 and have been with my partner for roughly 1.75 years. We live in different countries and are planning on getting married soon for visa reasons. Ideally we would've waited around 3 years of being together before marriage if we weren't dealing with the home country difference. It boils down to intentions of marriage, when you are wanting to have kids and several other factors. If you set a deadline I thin…

Rather than venting to a friend or family member, I try and write it all down on some paper or in a diary book. I write "emotions/how I feel", then "Why" then "other External Factors/influences" and at the end the "reality of the situation" and how to best handle It. Most of the time just writing it down really helps and by the time I am done the intense emotions have settled and I feel much better.. And I didn't let them control my behavior or have me irrationally project them onto my partner w…

I had severe depression for many years and was able to overcome it a couple ago. Mindfulness meditation really helped as well as seeing a therapist for a while (a good empathetic one) . CBT and DBT helped me a lot. Actually wanting to understand yourself and get better is also key. Self study, keeping journals , and making an effort to do things that push you out of your comfort zone help make them become more natural. Rather then sit at home I would force myself to take a nice walk and do other…

They are also products of their own environments. It was unfortunate but on the positive side it helped bang some empathy into me :) there's a lot of meditation stuff out there, I'd start with just basic mindfulness stuff. Focus on breathing and what's going on around you, observe where your mind wanders but bring it back to breathing. Mentally say inhale/exhale as you do if you need to, that tends to help me :)

Partially, yes. Also affected by other environments and experiences such as school and even things during teenage years. I got bullied a lot as a kid and was teased about my appearance and being really bright. Had a variety of instances that lead to trust issues and severe low self worth as well as anxiety/depression and an eating disorder. Kicked the depression and eating issues but I still get anxious and worried about things but that's where meditation really helps , calms the mind and allows…

It's very beneficial, highly recommend it! Began "self observation" a few years ago. Wanted to understand why I behaved the way I did and what things shaped my thought processes and development. Had a great therapist who used CBT, did some DBT. She got me into mindfulness meditation, which really helped. Lots of journals and self study. I've always found psychology and the human mind to be fascinating. Also came to the conclusion that I couldn't truely help or understand others until I did so ab…

As a child my father used to be a photographer and do work at weddings professionally. I think this is part of how I developed and interest in photography myself. My mother would do sewing projects with us when I was really young but lost interest by the third child. She's almost the embodiment of what rpw suggests we don't do as a wife -emotional spender, histrionic, projects her issues and worries onto her kids while using her role as a concerned "mother" to justify her bad behavior. I have a …

The ketogenic diet usually results in weight loss. (Low carb, medium protein, high fat). If it's too hard to stick to then try cut sugar and carbs anyway.

He's given you a timeline of this situation, and it's to benefit you both in the future. I'm in a similar situation. My partner is living with me at my folks house in a different country at the moment. We both have a lack of autonomy because of this but we chose to do it to get to our end goal of having our acreage nest. Just try to keep In mind that it's temporary and for a reason, not because he's lazy or in able to live on his own. Be thankful that they aren't nagging you or kicking him out, …

What about a healthy eating/lifestyle type group? I've been doing the ketogenic diet for a year and eat for nutrition and physical well being, but never with the sole intention to lose weight or do it as a fad/temp diet . Losing weight was just an additional side effect to it :)

Try not take these things personally, most of the reactions from these females seem to stem from jealousy. Women can tend to act like crabs in a Bucket when they see someone that is happy or in a functional relationship. With the wedding issue, do you believe it would benefit his work potential/environment? Try to remember it's only one day and perhaps in the long run it would benefit the both of you if it furthers his rapport with his colleges/managers. As for your your problem with going out w…

I agree with you on your first point, but for me it is biological not financial. Anecdotal evidence does not change statistics or reality. Would you have left your current husband if you had to pay for anything while you were dating?

Do you think men should spend a dime on a woman before they are married? Given the high divorce rates and our female advantage in both birth , custody and monetary rights post marriage ...Why would you risk commiting to someone before knowing they would actually support you "come hell and high water". Also.. Are you aware of the high risks and costs of a "modern" wedding and marriage?

You seem to forget he has been able to rely on himself and provide for the both of them while working full time. He's going to start school soon and she will have to help out a little during that short phase. She also stated she's not just going to throw money at him, she's concerned about him feel emasculated.

Trp is mainly about sexual strategy, here it is about having healthy and functional relationships. You really think that all women should just find a guy with money to ensure a good relationship?

Switch the gender roles, would you say the same thing? He has supported her in the past.. Was that okay? Just because they aren't husband and wife doesn't mean they shouldn't support one another. Money is not always the main focus in a relationship.

It is best, not just in this situation but life in general, to not let other people affect you. You can chose to be offended or not. Keep your head down, try not to react to other people's opinions or comments. It's understandable to have emotions arise when they do, but you ultimately make the decision in how you react to them. Why should you care what an idiot has to say? If you really are certain and sure about your beliefs then you wouldn't let others get to you so much. Lead by example, com…

Are you more concerned about having to spend money on him or him feeling emasculated? I would suggest perhaps sticking to the same budget you are currently on and reminding him that the role reversal is just for a phase. He took care of you while you were in school and now you are going to do the same for a little while. Focus on the long term goals, his study will help ensure your future goals are met. You are both still young, and you are both a part of a team. There are also things aside from…

I'm back living with my folks while we try and save and have had my SO staying with me coming from another country. Depends on your partners parents but for us we have found that they tend to focus on what we haven't done as opposed to what we have, unless we bring it up. Something that has helped has simply been making a polite informative comment when we have done something, for example "oh we did the dishes for you guys tonight since you've been so busy" and things like that. I was vegetarian for about 5 years but I had a guideline that was - generally eat vegan, sometimes vegetarian, but if someone invited me into their home and spent effort cooking a meat dish I would have a small dish or at least have a taste of what they prepared, just out of respect. If your partner eats meat and likes it I don't see it as being manipulative to make him food he enjoys. You don't have to do red meat (depends on what turns your stomach or not ) but maybe try things like fish or ba…

Keep in mind getting a dog is not like getting a cat. They are closer to a 'child" in terms of care and attention and maintenance. I would also never recommend buying a pet to medicate a personal emotional issue, if you already have cats for company then I wouldn't suggest getting another animal unless you have the time and energy to really take care of it, and doing it because you are the position to and it's well thought out , not just to have it around to make you feel better. I'm on the keto diet, few simple easy things I like to cook up are kind of improvised, but here's a rough outline of a few recipes. Mince stroganoff - fry up onion garlic and mushroom (I usually do it with coconut oil) , take out when nearly cooked. Cook mince, add spices (I usually go with cumin and basil and turmeric for health) . Once mince is cooked reduce heat, add mushroom mix back in and add a dash of brandy or red wine. I've personally never had a problem with it turning out watery, maybe try slightly undercooking them so they aren't as mushy :) see the comments above too /u/goodlucknextseason had a good tip for texture. I've been doing the keto diet for about 7 months now. Pretty much meat, veggies and cheese and fats. Have you thought about roast veggies? Slow roasted is always a treat. lately I've been getting into cauliflower mash! It's delicious and much healthier than the potato kind . I steam the cauliflower with a little basil and cumin sprinkled on top, them mash together with some butter, cheese and garlic. I agree. My mother does it a lot, and all it has done is make us automatically block off anything she has to say now. Celebrity/Hollywood culture is toxic. These people have more than enough wealth and power to bring communities out of poverty and despair yet they chose to live selfish hedonistic lifestyles instead. I personally wouldn't look up to them as leaders or examples of what you want to be like, most of it is merely idol worship I our society. Look at how someone acts and behaves, not what they say. Sounds like you need to find a balance between the two. I used to be in a very similar situation, either one extreme or the other. My first suggestion is you observe your own self descriptions. You seem to use very Down putting/negative language when it comes to describing yourself , for example "lazy/useless slob" etc. That ties heavily into the depression thing. I used to have severe depression/anxiety and I would say the same things about myself. I would also say 'sorry' every second sentence…

I suggest looking into DBT therapy and mindfulness meditation. Worked wonders for me. Keep a journal, for your emotions, thoughts and behaviours and how they relate. Eventually you will start seeing patterns and once you are aware of what sets off certain things you can start to consciously choose to not react as you normally would in those situations. It takes time and effort, lots of patience, but the more you practice replacing negative behaviors with positive ones they will become automatic …
