Good morning, Redettes :) Let's showcase hobbies in this thread. A hobby is an activity you enjoy in your spare time. I often hear that many women do not have hobbies (TV/FB doesn't count) and I think that's a shame.

Enriching

Pastimes give us something to look forward to. It enhances our ability to focus and concentrate. If you enjoy creating, you will naturally think more creatively, 'outside the box'. Furthermore, doing something you love raises your self esteem. Do you want to spend your days wandering in other people's museums, or create your own museum?

Hobbies enrich those around you

As a child, when I learned that other adults pursued interests, it added a new facet to them; "wow, her dad really digs this, he's a creator." If you have kids, or want to have them, exposing kids to your creative passions will make them appreciate the craft, the detail and skill that goes into something handmade. Or maybe your hobbies are non tangible, like reading or exercise, this also instills the importance of curiosity and self improvement.

Your man will also think it's pretty cool. At RPW we have a lot of discussion about being supportive of our men, always being there, lending an ear, tending to his needs..all the sweet things. However, having your own passions and interests is also a way of adding to your relationship. You can give him space while you go and do your activity. You'll be a more well rounded partner and self sufficient. He'll think highly of you; example: I had a friend who got into scrapbooking, her boyfriend was indifferent to it at first, didn't really see the value "Why not just put your photos in a photo album?" But she loved doing it, and learned new techniques of presentation and paper folding. Within a few months he said "Yeah, she's really into it. It's pretty cool how she made that." He was proud of her.
