Thanks but you didn't answer my question as asked :) this wasn't about fear of rejection. I want to know how often you get rejected.

I know right? I think I was caught completely off guard!

Doesn't make sense. Sometimes a girl would suggest do something. That doesn't mean she would pay. Also you would expect to pay, but also expect the woman to offer to go Dutch? If she does, you would insist on paying anyway?

$40 just her or both? Regardless, in a big expensive city including drinks, no way you can get away with that. It would be $60-70 per side at least.

But do you have some idea of her relationship expectations before. Do you ever ask what "what are you looking for" during the date for example?

I think that's it. I'm not saying you shouldnt approach and escalate. I'm saying you do when the opportunity arises. And the opportunity really arises when you are comfortable with people. It never arises when you are that annoying guy who hits on everyone even when there are no signs or even friendliness whatsoever. It's also a very tall order when you are not massively attractive. Of course I agree you have to be direct and show intent when you maybe after a couple of conversation and there be…

Yes, you are more likely to be direct, but also suffer more when you fail. If you went partially for enjoyment, it wouldn't be so bad if you fail. That said I'm genuinely curious if it works for you. If you are very good looking, I say go for it!

If you are type who does well in night clubs then go for it. I stopped going to those places regularly and if I do, I go with friends. You say online dating isn't working for you which is fair, but then interest groups etc. also are not? Why do you think that is and that night clubs will be any better? Night clubs are all about confidence and profile. You must be tall and good looking as your verbal skills and personality count for less. But if you are going alone, then it's mostly confidence. I…

So my question would then be what do you talk about on a first date, if you don't discuss anything intellectual, which also happens to be impersonal. Presumably things like life, yours and hers, but would you really reveal all your secrets and potentially vulnerabilities on a first date?

I get this, but on online dating you have a very narrow window to reveal interesting parts of yourself... Particularly if you are average looking and need to leverage things about yourself... Like how else would you reveal you have a million dollar condo or a super interesting job (lol which I don't but get the point) in the first few messages?

I am not really talking about cold approaching... More like mid-conversation. The one big problem with the whole getting to know her and making conversation thing is it doesn't escalate or seduce...worse, it risks friendzone...or at least it doesn't get beyond this.

OK, understood... But that one is probably said to someone you know well and partly in jest too

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
