Tracking it or not, it's much easier to say it's statistically rare if there aren't any charges/arrests for such behavior let alone convictions. If rape accusations are notoriously difficult to prosecute because of the he said she said nature of complaints, often without clear evidence to support the claim, false accusations are an order of magnitude harder to prosecute because not only do you need to overcome the original complaint, but you need enough evidence to win a conviction.

I saw this topic yesterday and read a few articles, it seems like it really only changes the preservation of rape kits to coincide with the statute of limitations. It's so overwhelming, can open you up to additional liability and few people will take such a case without a significant retainer. In many cases a stalemate is the best they feel they can hope for. Unfortunately there aren't many resources for this kind of thing. The innocence project type organizations are focused on people who are falsely accused in actual jail.... Easier said than done in some cases. Very easy for universities to railroad you and many law firms in the area work with them so they won't take a case.
