Yea, it's really horrible when you think about it. People joke about what shitty human beings their partners are in a circle jerk and it just boogles my mind cause why are you with that person then?? One of my sister's SIL (her brother-in-law's wife) and I were talking one day when her phone rang. On it was the name, "Fucking Asshole" so it was a bit jarring. She answered it and started yelling into the phone. It was her husband. They both yelled at each other for a few minutes before she hung u…

I agree. People tend to mirror the worst in the groups they associate in. My BIL came out of rehab and continued working on himself so he wouldn't resort to being an alcoholic again. Within 2 years, he interviewed for his current job and got it, which allowed him much more freedom and security. At the time, his new company needed new workers so he got all his friends and ex-coworkers on board. I don't even think he know how much he changed as a person until this past year and realized he outgrew…

Yup, they really are easy to manipulate by other men. It's quite sad. Oh no. My BIL knows how much he fucked up 5 years ago and knows that if he ever goes back to the person he was back then, my sister will take their daughters and leave him in a heartbeat. He was in rehab for 6 months and it opened his eyes to what life without his wife and his daughters would be like. He told us that alcohol and being angry all the time just wasn't worth losing the best thing that ever happened to him. I think…

My oldest sister has been married to my BIL for over 12 years now, been together for 15 years. While their relationship hasn't always been the best (he had a major alcoholism problem 5 years ago) he went to get professional help for it and has since turned into a different man. My sister told me that he's the one who is big on communication now and will be the one who always suggest they do a monthly "where are we at" sit-down with her. He gives my sister all his bank account information and acc…

My recent ex told me he really cared for me when I said I loved him. He cared for me so much that he thought it was alright to disrespect me by ghosting me the next day. I had another ex who said he cared for me then a week later, he dumped me over the phone because he couldn't handle being in a relationship despite it was him who pursued me. "I care for you" is worthless words sprung out of the mouth of someone who is just saying it to make you feel better as they decide what to do next--mainly…

I've been looking at a lot of relationship subreddits and posts today out of boredom and noticed that the men are playing hours and hours of video games and have no other hobbies. The major reason why their relationships are failing and/or they struggle to maintain one is because they spend most of their free time only gaming. That's the #1 common denominator. I never really thought about this before joining FDS. I find this video incredibly sad and it adds to my resolution to never date a gamer…

It's alright! I was just venting this morning really and FDS is the only safe space for me to do so without a man coming in and talking over me. I think the anger came from watching the news regarding how women are treated around the world, my own personal issues and how much I have had to buried inside of me because of how I was raised. It came to a boiled point and it's just so damn freeing to be in this space where I am angry and I'm not denying it anymore. I don't know if there is a solution…

I always side-eye and avoid men who says, "men/fellas/guys and females" as if saying women is too hard for them to compute. It's such a passive aggressive jab.

I was in another subreddit earlier where there was a discussion on the #NotAllMen hashtag and there were so many men playing devil's advocate and trying to downplay sexual harassment. I think I might had broken my block button by the time I left that post. They don't care about what women are going through until women brings it up then it's, "Uh, I'd like to say in my honest opinion that uh, you're wrong about the things you faced being a woman despite being a woman and here's what I concluded a…

I'm waiting for the day she wakes up and realizes that he's not the one for her. He might break her heart first and I'm scared that she'll be left alone in Florida if that was to ever happened. 6 years together and he doesn't know if he wants to marry her, and is terrified of her getting pregnant to the point that he told her he would leave if she ever does before he is ready. WTF really. I've tried to gently tell her that she deserves better than him but her co-dependency on him outweighs every…

My dad was an angry person and like yours, we weren't allowed to have any negative reactions at all. He would walk away from us or reprimanded us when we weren't being the perfect and obedient like Angel doll he wanted. I think that's why my bursts of anger lately has been so overwhelming and frightens me. I don't know how to process it or use it in a really productive way yet, even though I'm trying. I'm sorry to hear that you were abused at your old job. I can understand to some extent because…

My baby sister is 22 years old and has been dating her boyfriend for almost 6 years now. We recently got together for dinner and she said that she wants to get married but he says that doesn't want to yet, which is sorta valid since they're still young. However, she then tells me that he doesn't believe in wedding rings or that people can stay faithful and he's terrified of her becoming pregnant. His plan in the next 5 years is to move down to Florida, invest in the stock market, and retired by …

She's the best. I'm dreading the day she'll go back to her hometown. I'm glad I found this sub too. Some things are harder to accept than others, some things I don't agree with but I'm learning to stay open-minded and willing to put in the work to change myself instead of staying in one place mentally and physically.

I would love to do that but all the parks near me are always occupied to max capacity, lol. I might have to go to a middle-of-nowhere state park and scream if I don't wanna be arrested or something.

Wow, thank you for the insight. I appreciate it. I was going through this...IDK, facade? With my therapist. I was presenting a side of myself that I didn't even know existed where I was just happy and looked at the positive side to everything. Thought there was a life lesson to every situation and there was no used in mourning over the past or being mad about the things that happened to me. My therapist called me out and asked me if I was just trying to say what I thought she wanted me to say in…

That sounds awesome. I've never played an instrument before but my sister did recently receive a guitar for free so I might learn how to play that. I need to rent a place to box too. I never realized how cathartic it would be until I got into it last month.

They really do. Too much make-up equals a woman is fake. Too little make-up equals a woman is hideous. You can't win and really, if a man hates how you look with or without make-up then why be with him? I'd rather be single and enjoy glamming myself up just for me.

Men can pass everything through "dark humor" and "it's just a joke" with those kinda comments but if a woman gives them the same energy, we're being spiteful and a bitch. I remember when NikkieTutorials came out with "The Power of Make-up" many years ago and it went viral, the comment section was just full of men saying they would just take women to go swimming on the first date to see if she was "all natural." Women responded with them being alright with going swimming on the first date cause t…

They must be stalking this page cause that screenshot has a down arrow that doesn't have a number present and less than 10 comments. Indicting that it was taken within the first or second hour of it being posted. Yikes. Imagine being so obsessed that you're being a fan of a page you hate and checking out its contents periodically. There are so many subreddits I dislike on Reddit but I just click "Hide post" when I see it on the popular trend and go about my day.

I used to believe that I could only start doing something (road trips, learn how to shoot a gun, hike at a national park, etc.) when I was in a relationship for dumb reasons, lol. It kinda was linked to those warnings people constantly gave single women. Don't be out alone! A woman shouldn't be doing those dangerous things! A woman needs a man for everything she does! My parents drilled this into my head constantly growing up and I'm still learning to unpack it all. Self-defense, being aware of …

I actually found FDS last fall because people were complaining that this subreddit was a hateful place that demonized men and waaaaah, how dare those evil women have standards! I started looking more into what FDS stood for and found myself agreeing more and more with them as I remembered my past and seeing what other women were going through. I had to make this my second "throwaway" account because I didn't want to get bullied on my personal account too due to the unnecessary hatred for the wom…

You know, now that you mentioned it, my recent ex did that to me too. Making me feel like an understudy and he was the expert. I was talking about gardening and my hydroponic system for my herbs. He interrupted me to say that he had been doing research on farm work and gardens so he could help me with that...despite never doing it himself and I had one already set up. Funny story. I once went on a date with someone to Chilli's, about three years ago or so. It was an okay date, nothing we talked about was memorable but it wasn't until the end of the date that he realized he had a coupon for a birthday freebie. A cake or something. Except, the coupon was expired. I think you had a month to redeemed it? I don't remember but the amount of debating he did over one tiny item that cost less than $10 was so embarrassing. Thank you! I felt is was really uncalled for, especially when it's a group of vulnerable people going through a break-up. Oh, don't feel bad 😅 I admit they're a lot but they work for me. Everyone is different. I'm going to try out kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, learn how to swim, candle making, and rollerblading once spring comes. See if any of those make me happy. Thank you! I'm not good at speaking up. In my head, yes, but not IRL. And especially not in front of strangers. I was raised in a family where we were told to be quiet and my dad was always angry or annoyed with us kids so I learned to distinguish tone of voices by listening and not reacting until they finished speaking. I can tell when someone is genuine and when someone is insincere, amongst other things, by listening to the way they talk to me. The way he said it made me think of my dad and I…

Thank you. I understand what you're saying. I also went back and forth on what he could meant by it. I think if he has said something to what you're saying, I probably would had shrugged it off and not worry about it. However, it was the tone of his voice and that chuckled (that's now stuck in my head) he let out that rubbed me the wrong way. It wasn't with good intentions.

It is a lot, lol. Thank you. I can get addicted to doing things which is why I've never touched drugs and I rarely drink anymore. Also why I stay off of online dating because I was addicted to it for a long time. Hurts to say that (I was in denial for a long time until recently when talking to my therapist about toxic patterns) but it is what it is. It helps to go onto the Tinder and Bumble subreddits to curb those feelings though, NGL. Working with a few therapists and free counseling over the …

I get that, I really do. However, I was talking about the hobbies and interests I started looking into since my break-up a month ago to cope. Some of these are new and some of them are older ones but I can't work on such as gardening, hiking, etc. because it's still winter. Nonetheless, I understand why someone would say it in disbelief but the way he said it and then chuckled about it makes me think it wasn't in disbelief but rather him belittling me instead. Thank you! There's still a part of me that says, "Don't say anything. Don't make him angry. Be quiet and just take it." but I think as I'm improving my mindset and being more confident, it's coming to me naturally. Even without me realizing it. I'm still learning what negging is, TBH. It's one thing to read about it online and another to identify it when it happens to you IRL. Also, I didn't even think about that as to why he would want to message me afterwards. Glad I blocked. I'll be sure to mention him in the email too. Thank you!

Thanks! I'm learning to love myself again and it's a work in progress. Also this kinda reminded me. I recently came out of a relationship so I've been stepping out of my comfort zone with some hobbies and going outside of the house instead of being cooped in. I also lost a lot of weight recently so my body and face look completely different than it did months ago. I was thinking about it earlier and I know for a fact that I wouldn't had said anything in a negative way about his hobbies (which I'm not interested in). And I definitely would had been supportive of his hobbies if it had been a one-on-one conversation. The language I would had chose with him is different than from the one he used with me. I love learning new things and my lists grows more each day. I try not to limit myself in hobbies, food, music, or fashion and be open-minded to growth. I was feeling that maybe I was doing too much but fuck that. Reading all these comments solidified my stance. I refuse to be something less because a man doesn't feel like a man in my presence. I didn't even think about that at the time but the facilitator didn't say anything about his comment and she was the one who changed the subject. I think that's why my feelings have been so up and down on this matter. It made me feel as though she and everyone was trying to soothe his feelings instead of addressing what he said. Funny part was that it was a session about break-ups and coping mechanisms. Oh well. And thank you! 😊

It was an online therapy session on break-ups and learning new coping mechanisms so maybe, lol. I can't take credit for the reply though. It was as if my mouth opened by itself and said it before my brain could catch up. I know that if I thought about it, I wouldn't had said something like that, TBH. Whatever, lol. It was all me regardless. Thank you.

That's exactly it. Most of my hobbies are still rather new but I'm embracing them wholeheartedly. Yes, I use social media but I set time for the things that excite me and help me become better. It's as if they can't believe we can do or learn more than one thing at a time.

I don't have any photos physically. All the photos are on my old phone and I took out the Sim card (tossed the phone) and gave it to my oldest sister to hold/hide in her house so I can't go looking for it. I agree. I'm beginning to realize that too. Like, what made him sooo special that I'm thinking this way? My therapist has been slowly pushing me to think outside of the box I put around him and I really think it's more about grieving for the woman I was in that relationship. I think I miss her and am angry at her more than anything else and have been projecting it onto him. Cause the further I walk away from him, the more I question why I was with him in the first place. My very first boyfriend, I forced myself to be attracted to him because I thought he was the best I could do and because everyone told me it was "shallow" to want to only date hot men aka men who were supposedly above me in looks and status. No, I get it (: I couldn't afford therapy until recently. I spent years just listening to videos on YouTube and reading books which helped a lot but it's the human connection and having someone to talk to that was the difference I didn't realized I needed. It's harder now than ever to get therapy because of Covid too which really sucks. I'm lucky to found a therapist I enjoyed talking to after going through a few. I hope things work out for you.

I've been ghosted by guys I didn't even date in the past and none of them hurt as much as being ghosted by him. I wasn't willing to let myself be open to another relationship until he came along so the pain right now is like being stabbed by a fire poker. So yea, you're right. When we first met, he was more open and we could chat for hours about anything. Then we got into a relationship and he started pulling back while my feelings evolved. He doesn't show a lot of emotions but he was willing to try at the beginning but lately it feels like I was talking to a robot. I never saw Gone Girl until last year and it was a wake-up call for me because that was exactly what I was projecting with men. The bubbly, "I'm down for anything," sweet, never give shit to men type of cool girl. I also watched a bunch of YouTube videos on that trope and God, it was eye opening. Yea, there's a reason why I stopped going to the advice, dating and relationship subreddits. The same kind of people (men) lurk there. Men are idiots. They're assholes, once they smell blood they all circle jerk around women and attack her but are cowards when it's 1 on 1. I would suggest you turn off your notification in the Settings on here so you don't get notified of their stupidity. I'm sorry you're being harassed.

I think it's a great (for lack of a better word) motivation in the beginning. Makes you active and on the move to do better, be better than you were yesterday. However, I agree that it's not a healthy mindset to stay on for a long time. Temporary only. When I broke up with my ex, I cried for days. Yea, he was an asshole, a manipulative loser but I really did fell for him. The pain hit harder than I thought possible. Trying to move on, I latched onto a few other douchebags which ended badly too. …

You said the exact same thing my sister (who is a psychologist) told me, lol. Every time it doesn't work out with a guy in the past, try to look at the situation like a therapy session where it didn't go how I wanted it to but now I learned something more about myself. It's strange but after telling him of my past trauma in relationships, he was the last guy I did that with (besides my boyfriend) because him practically ghosting made me realized that it takes a lot of trust, growth and emotional…

Yup, it's a manipulation technique. This guy also only told me how his past traumatized him (which was why he wasn't ready for a relationship) when he was already running out the door. It was so unexpected and now that I had time to processed it, seemed like a ploy for sympathy and to make me feel like the "bad guy." Stopped me from questioning him and telling him he was an asshole for fake futuring me. Ugh.

I agree wholeheartedly. A guy pressured me to tell him about my past trauma in all my relationships before while refusing to tell me of his own past. I was so naive and broken that I told him despite something deep inside of me screaming not to. I had only known him a few days. He made me felt heard, wanted and I felt we had formed a connection. I thought there could had been a potential relationship there. Not surprisingly, he slowly started to fade about 2 weeks later. When I called him out an…

I can't find it now. Tried looking for it to no avail. I only saw it since it was in my recommendation feed as I try to avoid all dating and relationship subreddits.

Me too, lol. He sounded like he didn't even want to propose to her and was just finding an excuse to give her an ultimatum so he get out of marrying her. Nobody called him a gold-digger for wanting her to get a better career though. Hmm, wonder why?

There was a post on r/relationships yesterday about a man who didn't want to propose to his girlfriend because she didn't have a steady career while he did. Most of the comments were telling him he deserved a woman who was on his level and it was within his right not to seek marriage with her. Will probably end in a break-up but seeing how people were so encouraging of him, so sympathetic and coddling...really makes you notice the difference in how Reddit treats men and women. I hope she leaves …

I'm so sorry you and your family are going through this ): I'm Southeast Asian so I know what you're going through to an extent. My dad cheated on my mom numerous times when I was a child. Every time she would leave him, he would run after her and begged to be taken back. Promising her it would be different and he wouldn't cheat again. Which lasted usually a month only before the next woman came along and soon, we wouldn't have enough money for food or the bills because it all went to his young …

It really is horrifying. The most disturbing thing is how little all the commenters care about the real issues of racism, sexual assaults and harassment, discrimination and the sorts but whining on how unfuckable they appear in their profile photos and getting no matches. One of the reasons why I don't go on AskReddit much. Lots of people out of tune with the world sometimes.

Damn. I mean, I knew but at the same time to actually read it from employees who worked there. Yikes. Makes me wanna take a shower now. Yea, if I ever find myself single again, I'm never going back on dating apps. Nor am I going to tell another woman to go on it. Thanks for sharing.

I feel sorry for her but what's with all these women posting photos and videos of them crying over LVM and being dumped? If I ever do that, my sisters have the rights to dig a grave and bury me in it alive.

Probably like most men, just looking for a platewarmer until his best friend give him a chance or he find the "right woman." He wanted his best friend's input on everything and when we talking, he would constantly bring her up. Every topic went back to, "Wow, that's cool. Reminds me of when best friend and I blah, blah, blah." She did everything with and for him. She was the one he went to for advice and when he needed a meal or shoulder to lean on. I told him that maybe they should date. He tol…

He had her photos all over his social media. Even had a photo of their feet together, with heart drawings over it as the header, lol. I get men and women want their friends' input on the people they want to date but there has to be a line somewhere. I refuse to be the third wheel to a friendship like that.

OMG... it's too early to be this irritated with everyone and everything going on in that video lol. It's so obvious that he's in love with his best friend and she, the girlfriend, needs to get the fuck out. Reminds me of the guy who wanted to go on a date but needed his best friend, a woman, to approve of me. Yikes. Bye, boy.

I could had written this post myself because everything here is the truth. I had to unsubscribed from every relationship and dating subreddit because I was getting hated on by men for telling women to leave their boyfriends/husbands. In most posts, there's such an outrageous display of disrespect towards the women by their partner but everyone wants her "to communicate more." Bullshit. Time and time again, women are manipulated into give men second, third, infinity chances when they screw up. Wo…

I used to listen to Matthew a lot when I was starting to date again. Some of his advice were solid but most of them just made me confused. He was always telling women to "put themselves out there" in the dating world to attract manipulators and LVM. And he would blame women for when a relationship go wrong too. Ick. When he started dating Camila Cabello, it really came to light what a loser he was. How is he going to preach about (and make a career out of) how to attract men when his love life i…

Finally a story about a woman leaving the loser! Hopefully she kicks him out and focus on getting therapy to help with her mental health. I had to unsubscribed to all the relationships and dating sibreddits earlier because they were driving me crazy with how many women were asking for advice but won't listen to anyone but the men telling them to "communicate." I got my first hate message too, calling me a misogynist and troll lol. All for telling a woman to leave her boyfriend.

I get it, we're programmed at a young age to always be nice and not hurt anyone's feelings. I was like that too for a long time until I woke up and said, "no more." The block button has been my best friend ever since and I don't even tell guys why I don't want to talk to them anymore after they make me uncomfortable or disrespect me. There's no use explaining.

I'm at the point where the only advice I offer women are usually: "Dump him" and "Block him" because these women always deserve better. I was going around telling women on the relationship subreddits to dump their boyfriends and divorce their husbands and I really just don't care anymore. Better to be single than be with someone who doesn't respect you or doesn't choose you first every day. Even if just a little, I hope they find FDS and realize they never need to stay with someone.

I spent my night reading through the relationship subreddits (cause I have no life, lol) and it just made me sad how many women are in these loveless, twisted and sick relationships thinking they can't leave. What makes it worst are the people in the comments telling them to go through counseling or that they need to "work it out" with their husbands/boyfriends. Dear Lord, just leave. It hurts to see them so defeated but I know most won't listen to anyone and only come on here to rant then log o…

My financial advisor is someone I knew from years ago so I had a bit of an advantage there since he was willing to work around my budget. For me, it cost about $300 last year (I started around October) but that also included consultations and setting up my accounts. I don't need him long-term so it really was a "one-time" thing until I contact him again. Depending on the firm you go through or the person and what they're needed for, it can cost between a few hundred dollars to a few thousands. P…

That's awesome to hear! (: It took me some time to find a financial advisor that I was comfortable with and one where I felt wasn't treating me like an idiot. Don't go for the first one you meet, take your time to find one who is patient and is willing to explain things to you. Good luck!

Investing in stocks was scary at first because I didn't know where it would go but I'm glad I did it. I'm learning to invest for my future and I have people who are happy to help me succeed and gain financial freedom. It's such a big relief.

I'm very liberal leaning and my views align with the Democratic party more than anything else. I used to cut off men who weren't left-leaning liberal and had different views from me, opting to go for men whose values and morals supposedly aligned with mine only. Well, I learned the hard way that just because they're so-called feminist and/or were liberals didn't mean jack shit. A LVM is a LVM, especially when they're only interested in controling you and/or want sex from you. I've chatted with m…

My ex-boyfriend didn't even buy me a gift or do anything for me on our first Valentine's together despite telling me constantly how much he loved me. He only promised to get me something when he got my gift in the mail because he "felt like shit for being such a bad boyfriend." Like wow, a card or flowers were so hard to send when he had internet access. A week later I broke up with him and he still hadn't even given me anything at that point lol. I refuse to do anything for a man on Valentine's…

This is something I learned the hard way. I was always the "nice" girl who would give men more chances despite not being interested anymore or when they disrespected me or when I didn't want to hurt their feelings so I would continue to chat with them. I've been told I was cold and heartless for rejecting them without any good reasons except that my instincts were telling me to leave. More or less, I usually got ghosted in the end and/or used. Not anymore though. I learned to reject or block wit…
