I agree with you. I'm sorry you took a sane stance. I'm noticing a lot of people here just want blood against women because to them woman=feminist. This woman shouldnt have to lose her financial security to her husband. Th same people downvoting you are probably the same people who say Bezos' wife shouldnt have had half his earnings. No she shouldnt have but this is the same situation and if people cant see that then their opinions shouldnt matter to you.
/r/MensRights06/03/20 01:42 AM

No he doesnt deserve half. If she made most of the financial contributions then she deserves most of the returns. Defaulting to half of financial gains is just wrong. I'm sure you wouldnt agree that Bezos' wife deserves half of his earnings. Fairness is fairness. What is earned is what is due. Yes she is echoing a plight most often experienced by men. Highlight that instead of saying that she should lose half of her money because it would somehow balance out the equation.

Obviously everyone is going to comment on how men have higher rate than women. We know that. We hear it here all the time. But I think the better point of focus here is how much rates for men have gone down. It's incredibly heart warming to see men slowly getting better and dealing with suicidal tendencies. That's my big takeaway from this.

There was a three part video that someone did on this study that really shows the flawed logic in the conclusions that the media and activists pull from the paper. It came to the conclusion that if we use the same methods used to calculate the number of false claims, then the number of true claims are only something like 7 percent. Forgot where I saw it but it might be in the sidebar. Cant look for it right now but if you do find it, its definitely worth the watch.

Remember when the same petition came out around the original allegations to have Depp removed from Fantastic Beasts? And this sub thought it was so wrong? This is the same thing and it's being treated in the total opposite manner. Fairness is fairness but if it were the other way around you guys would be pissed about this petition. Feminists are maligned for their hypocrisy regularly here, as they quite often should be, but this is the same hypocrisy that we detest.

It's actually very similar to sexual assault by "stealthing" I am not solute what areas have made this a chargeable offence but I do know that in some places it is ilegal.

Actually it's very VERY similar to "stealthing" which was made recently prosecuable (don't know the right word sorry) as a form of sexual assault in some areas so he would have some legal ground to stand on. It would just be a matter of getting a fair trial. So yes she did something ilegal, but no she won't go to jail.

Completely respectfully disagree. I don't believe he should be supported just as I don't believe she should. Let the evidence speak for itself. If there is none and he still gets thrown under the bus, THEN we have a problem. But as it stands now, this shouldn't be turned into some big men's rights fight. As long as he gets a fair deal, then the system is working properly.

Unpopular opinion but we say that most of our issues deserve more attention because they are mostly against males. Suicide should be focused on males because it affects us more. Homelessness should be focused on males because it affects us more. How are we better than the feminists if we say that we deserve a piece of the cake that they are the majority of? I understand you are saying that we should be included in the conversation, but if we start saying "what about us" then that dilutes the pro…

Long story short had a night out with some friends. A girl and I come back from the bar. Next day I'm being charged with sexual assault. And I can't move in with family because I have to stay in the area while my discharge goes through. After that I'm free to go anywhere. They have already offered me a place to stay if I need it, so the option is on the table but it but take another few months.

I can't speak for all trials but my court martial actually went pretty well in terms of conduct in court. Every rule was followed and the judge made sure the jury knew that it had to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt that I was guilty before they could sentence me. He made it clear more than once. My defense was given all the evidence that the prosecution was. All in all a fair trial. My only complaints were that a guilty verdict can't be repealed based on a review of evidence, but only if the…

But by completely removing it we let real rapists go free which is unacceptable. I understand your side of this completely. I was affected directly by it. But aside from colleges, our justice system (while imperfect) generally works for the betterment of society. And I cant support the COMPLETE repeal of something that serves justice and rape victims. I just want a better solution. Also this is where the standard of proof being "beyond a reasonable doubt" comes into play instead of "a prepondera…

I understand your thinking but at the same time there are people out there that push alcohol or drugs into someone in order to gain consent. If we just get rid of the law entirely then that means those people get off free. I know there isn't an easy answer to this question, but I personally don't see a better one than that I proposed.

Mensrights, where if you submit a view slightly different from the vocal majority, you will be stamped down. Funny how we criticize feminists with this yet here you are trying to submit a separate source that adds more info to the situation and you get down voted to hell. I don't like this comparison very much mostly because on the male chart, it has three sections, one of which is 20-80% which HUGE range. Bigger than the other two combined. That is really bad statistics. Also the female one has comparitively more categories and the same problem where three categories are equal to one of the others. Just a bad graph really.

The only other returning character is called (I believe) Mon mothma or something like that. A leader of the rebellion. They are the only other confirmed returning character.

This is true, but I've heard plenty of bad stories about foster homes and the child protection profession. I think, so long as it wouldn't be too much of an extra cost, to at least allow minors in, that way there is another option if the foster system fails them.

There is a third untitled standalone as well which go go in either direction. I think reports right now have it as most likely being a Yoda movie. I thought your entire comment was about Rogue one. And yes both movies do have female leads, but for what it's worth, they are also the only large female roles in the movies, with the expected exception of Leia in TFA. There were still more large male roles in general which I think balances out the female lead roles.
/r/MensRights14/12/16 04:44 PM

Quick question, why only to males over the age of 16? Hat about the ones who are 16 and under who have nowhere to go? It is great that you are trying to do this (and I highly suggest a gofundme page) but what reason is there to deny boys access?
/r/MensRights14/12/16 04:36 PM

We can't be talking about the same movie. There is only the one female lead in this movie, and the only returning character is Darth Vader, who isn't even in the top 5 billed actors.
/r/MensRights14/12/16 04:33 PM

I don't think this movie will have the same Mary Sue issue as TFA, which was quite terrible really. It was pretty much my only complaint about the movie, and it really sorta took me out of the experience a little. From what I have seen of this film though, we won't have another Mary Sue issue. It seems the rest of her team are equally as lauded as she is in their respective fields.

OK, since you apparently know nothing about the film, by your own admission of having skipped the trailers, let me fill you in. The movie takes place well before the destruction of the death star. This is the story of the events that lead to the first star wars movie. So it will have nothing to do with Yavin aside from a few scenes at the Rebel base. Secondly, the trailers show a grand total of ONE female on a team of about 5 or 6 people. They aren't saying that this one female kicked everyone's…

Just a quick bit of advice, its not only important to throw numbers at them. You have to also make an argument that they could care about. Make it human and personal. Think about that article were moms were complaining about getting 50/50 parenting. The reason it worked wasn't because they threw out some 50/50 number. It worked because they painted a picture of mothers struggling to cope with their situation. You gotta do the same. Don't just mention lenient sentences on women. Mention how these…

They were supposed to put in a permanent plan in place at this point. So the fact that they are extending this order means that it is very likely going to be the lasting decision, especially given the information that Brad is having to fight for his children. If there is anything I can say about all of this, it is that she has really earned my respect for standing by her film. She could have easily taken the easy road and made the film then step away and say any number of things to distance herself from it. She has endured a tremendous amount of backlash and nastiness for her work on this movie. I believe there should be a list in the sidebar of sites that need to be archived, and with these sites, archives should be posted with a link to the actual page in the comments. Two reasons: 1) some places (like my workplace) block archives and 2) it allows people to go to the site and comment if they feel so obliged.

Don't we constantly criticize feminists for not acknowledging men's issues though? (spoiler alert: every day) That makes it hypocritical to attack someone who makes a balanced argument about men's and women's issues. I don't go out looking to make points about women's issues, mainly because I feel they have very little merit in the western world. But when I do, I am met by the same criticism that we condemn on a daily basis.

It ranges from country to country, with some having men slightly less victimized and some have men way more victimized. There is also matters of if the violence was simply shoving and name calling or if it was throwing objects or sexual violence. All of these have to be taken into account before you can make that broad generalization. I think the right solution to domestic violence is to treat it not as a "men/women have it worse" gendered problem, but as a gender neutral, human rights problem.

The idea of MRM, yes. The movement itself is supposed to have that line of thinking. This sub, however, is not always like that. There have been times where I made valid points and got downvoted like crazy without any explanation. I'm usually on board with the fact that men face more problems and worse problems than women in modern society, but there are still issues that they do face. And that statement would get me crucified on this sub.

To be fair, that happens here too. We don't go out of our way to ban people of course, or to run smear campaigns. The closest we came to that was a couple months back with Julie Bindel, but everything we did was justified. But if you post something that might be against the general consensus here, or admit that there might be a problem that women actually face here, prepare to be downvoted to hell.

There was no mention of sexual assault. They were reaching for him, just like all fans do at all concerts. He should not have kicked her and does deserve a punishment. I don't believe the punishment fits the crime, I don't think the gender should have been a factor, I don't think the judge and jury should have been 100% women. All of those are bullshit. But that still doesn't mean he should have kicked a fan. They were right that there were any number of things that he could have done instead.

They argue with feelings. And that is why they are so successful. Feelings attract women more, whereas men will be more attracted to logic. That is one reason for their follower base. Also, like you stated, it is harder to debate thoughts than actual numbers. Because of this, your best tactic would be to steer the conversation back to logical arguments with numbers and statistics. If you are playing ball in your own court, it is a lot hard to lose. If they say something, then ask them to back it…

I've seen many reports suggest that women are more prone to mental disorders. I don't think it is a gender bias, but a fact. Those bad cops should be reprimanded for their actions, and anyone who tries to "cover up" what happened should be dealt with in a proportionate manner. Just because these bad cops exist though, we can't assume that there are exponentially more to warrant an issue. I don't think anyone really tolerates the bad officers. One of our politicians said the same about a month ago and was blasted for it. I want to say it was Mike Huckabee, though I am unsure. But I agree with the sentiment. Looking at the numbers, there isn't as big of a problem as people want you to believe, roughly 1000 deaths out of 20 million police encounters. Yes. The phrase is a stereotype because black people are commonly believed to be faster runners. It has also been scientifically studied, but that is besides the point. It is not racist however, because it does not imply that this characteristic, which is seemingly intrinsic to the race, makes them any lesser than those of other races, nor does it promote discrimination against the race.

I don't understand how people don't realized "stereotypes" and "racism" are two different things. I can say that black people run fast, white people love suburban BBQs, and latinos can't get sunburns. All of them are stereotypes, none of them are racist. However, if I say black people are murderous hood-rats, white people just want to use their privilege to oppress everyone, and latinos are all border-hoppers, well then we have an actual problem.

She has removed it from her page, but she has yet to publicly acknowledge that she was wrong. The closest we have got was when she said "Believe all victims.. until investigations and evidence has proven their claims 100% false," or something to that effect. Hillary has gone on record with the "Believe All Victims" narrative, or in other words "Guilty until proven innocent." She also wants to make the justice system even more skewed towards women. Men's rights are a very broad issue, encompassing many ways in which men are disadvantaged. Paternity leave is one of these issues, but there are many more. On the whole, Trump will be better for men's rights than Clinton would, even with her being more supportive of paternity leave. This one issue is important, but it doesn't (for me at least) overshadow all the other ways in which a Trump presidency would be better for this movement.

There would be article everywhere talking about how nice it is to see all these bulges on facebook and a few of them would probably outline which guy they thought was the most "blessed." These articles would be preceded by articles on how men are pigs for objectifying women who are wearing clothes specifically to show off their junk. Then the last article would be a writer complaining about how commenters are so mean for attacking writers and not und…

I agree that there is a lot of negativity here. I've been one to contribute to that negativity from time to time, and I wish there was more uplifting stuff here. I think a lot of people here use that negativity as fuel to keep them coming back. But we need this kind of content too to show that a difference can be made and is being made.

If a woman is so far gone that trying for hours to wake her up doesn't work, then there is no way she was sober enough to consent to his fingering. The other four counts should have been dismissed, but the charge that he received was fitting.

If she is in and out then when she is in she isn't coherent enough to give consent. Also they would have done a start kit on him which would have revealed her "self" being on his fingers. Even if they didn't, his confession would likely be enough

The consent is debatable. He said she consented to it, but she says she doesn't remember anything. If someone is too drunk to understand what is going on then they cannot consent. So if she is telling the truth then there was no consent. If he is telling the truth then there was consent. The only real way to figure out which one is telling the truth would be to look at the toxicology report to find her level of inebriation. Also, given that multiple people tried to wake her multiple times, it ca…

Things as simple as this aren't really all that important, both in the scope of men's rights, and in a relationship. If she doesn't want you to say it then that is your decision on whether or not you will put your foot down. I personally would just say ok like you did. Whenever she starts saying it though, it isn't about the phrase anymore, but about the fact that she is hypocritical. If she doesn't want you doing something, then she shouldn't do it as well. This is good and all, but it is sorta useless without a source. Our argument is only as strong as the evidence we use to back it up with. That evidence has to be well founded to be used. Anyone can write this up and say it is proof, but the times that you are actually going to need it is when you are in a debate with someone, and they will want to verify something like this.

It depends on the exact definition of the law. I believe New York's law is written in a way that at one point it says words or actions can show consent, and then another point is says only verbal consent can be given. So it depends on what your state law says. There is also the defense of reasonable belief which is when someone doesn't give consent, but under the circumstances, one could reasonably assume consent was given. An example of this might be you start trying to take someone's pants off…

So you don't mean consent, you mean explicit or affirmed consent. Maybe if you used the correct term you could have gotten an answer sooner. With explicit/affirmed consent (which I don't agree with anyway, so this question seem moot to me) if neither party gave clear permission, then both parties could be tried for sex assault, though the defendant would be whoever was the "aggressor" in the sexual act ie. who initiated the sexual act. I disagree with the last statement. If someone is too drunk to know what they are doing, then how can you charge them with rape? That is the exact logic that is used to say someone was raped. If someone sober sleeps with someone who is blitzed out their mind and can't consent then that is rape. But if someone who is too shitfaced to tell a turdhole from a keyhole and they sleep with a sober person, then they can be charged with rape? Isn't that the very definition of a double standard? If you look at demographics and statistics, they do have higher rates of rape, and there was a heavy influx of rapes when they started being admitted. Technically, the law banning pepper spray doesn't specifically state pepper spray. In section 5, subsection 1, sub subsection b of The Firearms Act of 1968, it states that a person is guilty of committing an offense if they possess "any weapon of whatever description designed or adapted for the discharge of any noxious liquid, gas or other thing." Pepper spray fits this definition, but the actual law is much more broad. Therefore it doesn't actually affect women more.

The law that she broke isn't any more benevolent to rapists than gun bans. She wasn't charged for defending herself, it's the way she defended herself; with illegal pepper spray. I don't know what this has to do with men's rights... The article is right. She was attacked and defended herself. Now she is being charged with owning pepper spray, which truly seems wrong to me. A five percent difference in women lying about having slept with less people isn't exactly a ground breaking statistic. 5% percent isn't a lot. 9% of males saying they have had more partners than they have actually had more often than women is a little bigger, and maybe something of note. So instead of the Government and the company in question putting this money towards something useful like men's shelters or proper research on circumcision, they instead put the money into something that has already been debunked time and time again and will help nobody in the end. Love the article. It shows that feminists, just like everyone else, can be offended by anything if they look hard enough. I know MRAs can do the same sometimes, so this is a good reminder that sometimes we should just step back. I think the difference is that we can take that step back, whereas feminists will complain that we are "mansplaining" and call us misogynists. The article proves that we aren't perfect, but that they are way worse.
/r/MensRights12/07/16 05:29 PM

Feminists don't care about real women's issues because they don't affect them. So they have to make up problems like this, and all that does is give everyone else ammo to hopefully stop them.

MGM=circumcision. It needs to be treated just like FGM and outlawed. Title IX trials are the campuses prosecuting males for sex assault. This needs to be done by law professionals, not the clearly biased universities with an agenda.

Because it is so engrained into our society that few people realize it is sexism. It's just normal for them and it makes me sick.

I agree it isn't really a big MRA problem. But the reason I'm putting it up is because People see the word sexism and just immediately go along with it, and that usually has a negative connotation towards men. The Twitter replies in the article also lean to the side of misogyny
/r/MensRights07/07/16 07:36 PM

Very well thought out article. Good to see something unbiased, whether in support of men's rights or not. They don't explicitly state that they are fighting for men, but the article does certainly come of that way to me. I like getting the MR point of view across without shoving it down someone's throat, like a juxtaposition of feminist journalism.

All the writer did here was cherrypick what she wanted, and offer no context of the original in her writing. She is one of Scorcese's women because he likes having her in his films, just as Leo is one of his men. The sophomore line isn't talking about her looks or whatever is supposedly "sexist." It's talking about how she is a sophomore to the acting scene. By the way, sexism is a belief that one sex is superior to another, and I don't understand how saying someone is a sophomore means that per…

I know WE would consider this sexual assault. But we are, and always will be, fighting an uphill battle. That means that if we are going to win an argument, we have to do so on their terms. Its not what WE think that matters in a debate because it is THEM that we have to convince. And like I said that one wasn't as relatable to Brock.

The knights would have been gone, but their traditions (such as this) still remain to this day. The military salute is derivative from knights, as is the entirety of chivalry. Whether you want to argue if it is dead or not, or if it is harmful or not is another discussion, but the fact remains that apsects of knighthood are still around, so it is not inconceivable that this is one of them.

In that case: 1- If it is the tumblerinas and feminists that you are worried about, then you shouldn't bother trying to be an MRA, and I promise I'm not trying to be as harsh as that sounds. Here is why: 90% of the conversations you have in the real world are going to be met with skepticism and even hate sometimes. It will always be an uphill battle and you will always be chastised. So yes, it will be hard, but if you are really passionate about it then you will be able to find the courage to do…

There is nothing wrong with changing the words of the anthem in this case, and I would have supported it if I were in office. I feel like the name change is founded in logic. If they service both male and females then their name should reflect that. It's like a food court that has a McDonalds and Burger King, but just calling the food court a "McDonalds Food Court." I see no problem with this.

The point I'm trying to make is that She could have been overweight, or had some kind of handicap or something that maybe made her seem like she wasn't in the military. The reporters here don't know and aren't trying to find out which is their job. And if that case is true then she can't just throw out the term misogyny. I can see both sides of this. if he makes more than why shouldn't he put more money into the rent or utilities? Equality is all well and good, but sometimes proportionality is the right answer. On the other hand it is money that he earned and he should be able to spend how he wants. This is a good illustration of how the earnings gap exists. I don't see how trying to dissect how someone reacts to rape is a men's rights issue. Rape is rape no matter how you react to it. If your natural response is to freeze up, or to scream it doesn't matter. Only rape victims will be able to tell you how they reacted, and each person reacts differently. I agree with this though. There isn't a solid reason why women shouldn't be allowed to join. If you want a men's only club then that is fine, but you should offer the same service in the form of an all women's club. You just showed everyone watching the entire reason for this series so thank so very much. 2) when men look at a pretty woman in the media (I am going to use Jennifer Lawrence for an example in all futtur ecomments unless otherwise stated) when men look at JLaw they do…

When men sexualize women, we take away part of their humanity. Objectification mean taking taking some one and turning them into an object. Women aren't objects and society need to treat them as more than just eye candy. And if that is all a woman wants to be cough kardasians cough then so be it. But there are women out there like Jennifer Lawrence and Emillia Clarke who are trying to make an honest living and all men care about is when they will take their clothes of next.
/r/MensRights18/05/16 01:29 AM

The proof behind my claim is all the bikini clad women on billboards, or the women who are just eye candy in movies. ASPORTS magazine devotes an entire issue to just women in sexy poses and almost no clothing.

Servicemember here. We can kick anyone's ass right now no problem if they attack us. numbers aren't a problem so much anymore with the level of technology we have. And if someone did start another war with us, there would be another resurgence in those who enlist just like with Pearl Harbor or the attacks on the twin towers. The draft is no longer necessary and should be stricken altogether. Also we didn't have to draft anyone in WW2.

Prepare for a long response here... First you have to understand your professor here: she has been doing this for years probably, is very centered in what she believes, and will fight tooth and nail (and probably make fairly decent point because of her experience) against damn near everything you say. So prepare for an uphill battle. But this isn't you against her, it is about you against an ideology that affect the entire class. You aren't fighting for her, you are fight for all of them. With t…

she had at times been, “incredibly inappropriate, foul-mouthed and sexual” at the CBC. So what? None of that is relevant to how Ghomeshi treated Borel... How is this irrelevant? If she was inappropriate and sexual then he was just reciprocating. Typical it's ok for a woman but not a man if you ask me.

It is a similar situation to the pay gap. It does exist in the fact that there are more men at the top of businesses. Contrary to what feminists believe is that it isn't because of discrimination, but because women choose different lifestyles than men.

I understand that wearing heels suck, but so does a suit in the middle of summer. If you want to argue against them then do so, but don't try to say it is sexist, because men have dress codes that we have to put up with as well.

Well if they are leaving because of their children then that is IS something they can't help. Most daycares take in toddler aged children, so it can be hard to find someone you trust to take care of your newborn while you work long hours.

And even if its illegal, why then does the gap still exist. It must mean people are just not being honest and getting away with it.
/r/MensRights10/05/16 01:17 AM

I think maybe a lot of women might not be aware of the fact that they are being paid less than their coworkers. So they don't know that they need to fight their employer on it.

You may have had the opportunity to be whatever you wanted, but the toys for traditional female led jobs and lifestyles were marketed towards girls. These same jobs and lifestyles that were derived from childhood experience are also low paying jobs in adulthood. You are correct that correlation is not causation is correct, but in this case I feel like there is a causation with these incidents. As children, we are much more susceptible to suggestion than as adults. So putting these gender roles o…

Just because they aren't civilized doesn't mean we shouldn't be. Its ironically up to us to be the perverbial bigger men.
/r/MensRights09/05/16 06:06 PM
2

Before I reply, I hadn't ever seen the breakdown of the social science category like that so thanks! Back to the discussion though; there is surely an underlying reason that the lower paying field is the primarily female driven one. I would say that is because our children are indoctrinated through cartoons and toys to take those lower paying jobs by companies that are run by males. Because of that, they grow up thinking that they need to take those lower paying jobs.
/r/MensRights09/05/16 04:56 PM

If you want to use this analogy, then the car dealer has a price posted for all buyers that you can then try to negotiate. In a job offer, the employer should offer the same pay to all potential employees then allow them to negotiate that price.
/r/MensRights09/05/16 04:48 PM
2

Shouldn't the employer OFFER equal pay to all his employees with transparency? I'm sure if he was willing to offer someone else the $10,000 and the other potential employees knew this, they would ask for the same amount. But what they don't know IS hurting them.
/r/MensRights09/05/16 04:04 PM

So if they are hiring women at $7,700 (as I assume you are implying) then they are taking advantage of that woman, which is unethical.
/r/MensRights09/05/16 03:38 PM

That last part was something I was thinking about as well with civility. Feminists can be demeaning an insulting. This is an emotional topic for some, so practicing here in a safer environment can help them to learn how to control those emotions and debate properly.

I visit this site a lot more often than I run into feminists. I would say that is probably true for a substantial amount of the people here. So it does makes sense to practice here, so that when you do encounter a feminist, you are prepared.

Anyone with halfway decent knowledge of biology should know that. 2) While yes, girls toys tend to be angled at what women choose as professions is true, nobody is making that girl choose that toy, or making that woman choose that job. You are right that I shouldn't demand outrage. What I thought we could be in agreement over is the fact that the male was seen as being disposable but the woman wasn't. I thought there would be agreement that it is wrong to focus on the injustice done to women on the show but then turn a blind eye to the men of the show. To me this reflects on the real world, which is why it bothers me. It isn't that both groups should be or shouldn't be complaining. It's a show and that would be silly. It is th…

I think this is on here because of two things. 1) There would be media outcry and people would be outraged if a female prisoner were being sent racy photos of men. They would be condemned as creeps a equated with sexual assault. 2) He was given six years for a crime that we see women get no time for very often. I don't think the argument is whether the punishment fits the crime, but that the punishment doesn't fit the punishments given to women.

There are multiple youtube videos of social experiments where women assault men in public and nothing happens, but in a role reversal everyone jumps up and defends the woman. An the two situations will play out exactly the same; same dialogue and same actions. The same thing was done in terms of rape/sexual assault and the results were the same: help the woman but ignore the man.

I cant speak for everyone here, but I believe if a man walks away because he is scared or just doesn't want a child, then what right to we have to criticize him if we aren't criticizing a woman who gets an abortion because she is scared or just doesn't want a child? That's what it all boils down to, equality. And if the woman elected to have the baby and the man walks away, he will be shunned as a deadbeat. But if the man wants to be a father but the woman aborts, then she is a strong woman maki…

It is society as a whole. We are told by the world that men are supposed to be strong and shouldn't be hurt emotionally because that makes us "pansies" and "sissies" so we bottle everything up and just deal with it to keep our perceived manhood intact.

You aren't the first to have told us this. There was someone about a month or two ago that said they trolled a bunch of gender subs and found two things: 1) This was the most civil and tolerant of the male subs and 2) We were more open and accepting then the Feminist subs that tended to harass and ban those with differing views. So your situation is nothing really new.

The only ideal answer we have is the same for most of our issues: equality. For male contraception, we have to options: wrap it or get the snip. Women have SO many more options available to them. More so than this though is abortion. We don't try to argue whether it is right or wrong, we simply argue that if a woman can relinquish her duties as a mother before the birth (abortion), then a man should be able to do the same (opt out of child support.) It isn't about us trying to stampede over wome…

Until I found this sub, I agreed that a man should never hit a woman. Now I still have problems losing this mentality, even though I know I should. Partly because it is how I was raised (conditioned) and partly because I know I would be crucified for hitting a woman, even if she hit me.
/r/MensRights07/04/16 07:43 PM

No, it usually happens when you apply for your drivers license. Otherwise, when you turn 18 you get a notice in the mail to register for the draft. The draft is still in place in case there is another war in which there aren't enough volunteers for. It was created because of a shortage of troops over 50 years ago, and now we still have it in case we have a major conflict that would require large numbers or servicemembers.

We are seen as weak if we seek help, and society tells us that weakness isn't good.
/r/MensRights07/04/16 07:37 PM

Just because a man can defend himself better, doesn't mean that it should be acceptable for women to hit men. And men are also criticized when they defend themselves because we are told from a young age to never hit women. The draft is only ENACTED in times of war when necessary. The problem with the draft is that men still have toregister for the draft or we have our rights taken away.

I understand. You have been fed your whole life that women are underprivileged and that men hold the power. Most people are, and the news loves to shove that down our throats. We don't resent that there are safe places for women in domestic violence situations. We resent the fact that we don't get equal care and treatment when we are victims, assuming the police and public believe that we really are victims. If someones idea of the MRM is to rape and assault women to make it fair, they are not MRAs. Plain and simple as that. And yes the draft is still a thing that men HAVE to register for. Nobody is currently being drafted, but that doesn't change the fact that we los…

This is a hard question to answer. If people who didn't understand the MRM came to this sub, I think we would be much better off. I have heard your concerns voiced more than once. Just like Feminism, our movement does have hate filled individuals or misguided folks. There are those that claim to be MRA but aren't and those are usually the ones that slander our name. I don't have a problem with people posting things and creating their websites to try to debunk religions. That is their right that I wouldn't want taken away from them. I just personally stay away from them because they tend to try to make religious individuals look stupid or only present one side to an argument. I think these websites are good for religions because it will make a person stronger in their beliefs if they care enough about their convictions.

I get what you are saying. But there are still women who are oppressed in certain parts of the world and they need care just like many men do. Mainstream feminism has undoubtedly poisoned the cause for true equality in these cases and it disheartens me. I hate what feminists have done to set back equality, but I also know that there are places that still need feminist support.

I am in full support of anyone who strives for equality. I support this movement over the feminist movement because I wholeheartedly believe, based on substantial evidence, that men are absolutely not equal in the rights race. However, there are women in other (mostly less-developed) countries that require attention from feminists (and us) that I will also fully support.

This was a truly horrific account of a horrific crime and both people deserve to rot in every hell of every religion. But you shouldn't criticise me for posting this when postings of sexual assault/rape and killing are posted here from the other side (women getting lesser sentencing)

Why don't you ever complain about people parading the standard "woman gets less sentence?" Yea the fact here is that a child died and that is a sad and terrible thing. You aren't understanding what I am saying. I believe it should be illegal. But it isn't. I don't think they should able to mutilate. But I cant walk in on an operation a stop them. Under the first amendment, all individuals have the right to freely practice their religion. As it stand what they do is legal. I don't support that, but I do have to accept it. All I can do is fight for the law to change.

I wasn't trying to start a religious debate here. What I'm saying, and this cannot be argued, is that as of right now, whether we like it or not, circumcision is a religious right that these people have. I don't agree with it. It should be illegal. But there is nothing I can do to stop it because they are protected by their first amendment right until someone steps up to challenge that to SCOTUS. Hopefully that day will come. And hopefully it will come soon.

People know not to kill and torture as almost all religions say not to, plus common sense. People still perform circumcision because they don't know better. The media shoves baseless "facts" down their throats, and false statistic so that people think they aren't doing harm.

I understand, and expected, this comment. The point I want to make is that as of now we legally have to let them do it. And it's a hard situation because making this illegal would set a precedent of being able to tell people how they allowed to practice their religions. It's a lose lose situation from the "big picture" standpoint; either we make it illegal, and religious group cry foul and ask what would be taken away next, or we don't make it illegal and our boys continue getting mutilated. When the amendment was written, the founding fathers were sorta on a "rights rampage." They wanted to make sure everyone had all kinds of rights, and didn't think through the potential ramifications. Also they were, a majority, Christians; they didn't think about the Jewish practice of circumcision. Finally, there wasn't an uprising against circumcision until hundreds of years later; it wasn't seen then like it is today.

Even getting the same amount in these budgets isn't equal. I know that sounds like something a feminist would say but here it is true. It admits that men die disproportionately to women, which would indicate that we need more funding to help with this. yet we actually get less money. It is implying that it is more serious when inflicted upon a woman. Dictionary.com is widely used for quick searches. While not as official as Merriam-Webster, it is still considered a credible source so this is troubling to an extent. However, recent strides in written law have been made to remove this gender bias. We are getting there one step at a time.

It wont happen overnight. I know that. But the sooner we get started, the sooner we might see changes. I'm not looking for an overnight solution. I'm just looking for something that we can start, that will get the ball rolling so that we can eventually see change.

Giving up isn't the answer. I know that much. We can't just hide away and complain online because we have an uphill battle.

While that's a good step, the issues we face cannot necessarily be fixed by town halls. Most of our issues are bigger than the town hall level. But it would be a good place to start, I will admit.

Education on our issues is paramount. But what good is knowledge if we don't use it?
/r/MensRights10/03/16 04:22 PM

Staying the course (not giving up) is wise. But if we ever want REAL change, then we need to make some changes. Complaining on reddit, and discussing these issues with those around us will only get us so far. It's one thing for us to be educated on men's rights and to spread that knowledge with those around us; but it is a completely different thing to actually get the world to look at us. The press is one of the most powerful tools, so let's use it.

First is the article that outlines the 8 main reasons that the pay gap is a myth created by women's choices, primarily the choice to have children. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/the-gender-pay-gap-is-a-complete-myth/ Next is an article supporting my claim of the reverse-pay gap in which women outearn men until, as previously stated, they have children/families. http://content.time.com/time/busines…

Same thing pretty much happened to me this morning at work. It was brought up and I told them that the wage gap is due to women's choices and they just laughed me off and shut down the conversation. I say she should be an accomplice because the article states that the men did all the robbing and she just aided, unless I read it wrong.
/r/MensRights05/01/16 05:10 PM

There is absolutely a sentencing gap. I'm not arguing that, however in this case wouldn't she just be charged as an accomplice, thus receiving an inherently shorter sentence? We also don't know the men's criminal history. At face value this does look like an example of the poor justice system, but I feel as though we don't have enough information.

I get what you are saying but this shouldn't be about marriage is my argument. It's called paternal leave, from the Latin for father. It isn't called husband to a mother leave. If it's for fathers, it should be for ALL fathers. I hope that clears it up.

It actually places a very strong prominence on the meaningful Ness of fathers, see my comment for further explanation
/r/MensRights22/12/15 10:52 PM
1

I think people on both sides are reading too much into the male/female aspect. That being said I do see this film giving father's a good name. Something OH left out is leia says luke (wise and powerful jedi master) couldn't save their son. But the power of a father can. (Paraphrasing slightly) not only this but it is the killing of the father which is seen as the most atrocious act in the film that solidifies this character as a villian.
/r/MensRights22/12/15 10:50 PM
7

They had a strong female lead yes (a little too strong if you ask me, she has zero character flaws) but I feel theven story serviced father's roles much more than female empowerment. Also leia was ALWAYS a strong female characters who happened to be captured for 15 minutes of a 5 hour trilogy, nothing to scoff at. Padme was a queen in one movie, an ass kicking senator in another, and a caring wife/mother in a third showing a range of different powerful levels of femininity. I don't see any argum…

I agree with the fact that the father should have full custody, but is it legal to say that the children who are US citizens can no longer enter the United States?
/r/MensRights15/12/15 07:35 PM
5

Upon researching the term, "babysitting" uses the term "while the parents are temporarily away" as their primary definition. Thus it is concluded that the father isn't seen as an equal parent, factually speaking.
/r/MensRights15/12/15 04:07 PM
3

The supervisor is a male. He is not an inherently sexist individual. He simply didn't think before saying "babysitting"
/r/MensRights15/12/15 04:04 PM
14

While technically correct, it still infers that the individual is watching over the child as a non-primary caregiver. It is the same issue with newspapers who refuse to label females with the word "rape" or "rapist" While they still say "forced to have sex," they will stay away from the R word. Here, while he is "babysitting" 1) I have have yet to hear someone say a mother is babysitting her own child and 2) the father should have been refered to as fathering or watching or parenting, as mothers…

It's not rubbish, I'm not like a feminist who will make up whatever they can too serve their purpose and garner attention. If this were made up for me to self-victimize, then I would have made myself the victim; not my coworker. Just because you are lucky enough to not have others joke about your parenting, doesn't mean others aren't, as is evidenced by the multitude of similarly based posts to this subreddit.

This story doesn't sound right. She could be telling the truth but if so why would these two individuals choose to do this in a very public setting and how could one person hold her down AND threaten her with a knife? If she is telling the truth then she has nothing to worry about, as victims are always believed in todays society. Rape is a terrible thing and I hope that she receives whatever help she needs.
/r/MensRights11/12/15 09:31 PM

This is a real issue in the US. No doubt about it, but does this story belong on mensrights? Men are more often victims of homelessness and maltreatment with most of those cases being veterans, but this particular story involves two men. This is a veterans rights issue, not a mens rights one.
/r/MensRights11/12/15 03:38 PM

I've seen studies encouraging parental leave but most of them only talk about "up to 2 weeks." Aside from simple equality, what would be the benefit to having more paternal leave? I am an airman about to have a child so this hits hard at home with me and I need to know what's up.
/r/MensRights11/12/15 02:58 AM

We need more of these action opportunities. It's great to be able to discuss men's rights on here and with people we come into contact with, but how can we truly call ourselves Men's Rights ACTIVISTS if we aren't doing things like this? Keep things like this coming where we can really make a difference.

I feel like this one is nitpicking. Yes I agree that women get more representation on many cases. While, yes this character is a woman, they show isn't trying to spread awareness specifically through her being a woman. It isn't trying to parade autism as a women's issue, they just simply decided to make the character female.

I was just at the hospital and there was a womens room and a unisex room. The womens door was open and nobody was in, but i had to wait for the other room. There are more jobs in the military than just combat that a draft can help fill. So women who can't perform at the same level of men could still be drafted into those positions.
/r/MensRights28/09/15 05:42 PM
-2

The draft wasn't created until after WW2 and was only used in Vietnam to the best of my knowledge. However another form of drafting does take place in the military called stop loss in which the military decides you are too necessary to let you leave, therefore they stop you from leaving when your contract is up.

I recently read a comment on a post stating that studies have shown roughly half of accusations are false (three studies at 41% 50% and 60%.) Why does this data say otherwise, aside from having been written with clear bias?
/r/MensRights19/09/15 05:10 PM

Because women complain about being objectified and sexualized, and this is pointing out that they do the same thing to us but with no repercussions.
/r/MensRights17/09/15 05:41 PM

The article states that there are more false accusations than actual rapes. Does anybody have the source for that statement and/or evidence backing it up?
/r/MensRights16/09/15 06:46 PM

Most, like myself, don't take youtube comments seriously. But these individuals still said those things, and believe them to be ok, whereas a man wouldn't be able to say those things without having the entire interwebs dropped on his head.

Im in the military. Even not being in combat, just having a woman around as a coworker changes the dynamic of the entire shop. Mainly due to the policing of what is said and done, and how women react to it differently than men. This is one of the few times that I will actually agree with something on 2x. The man seems to have no drive and cant take care of himself much less children. I may catch some flack but I actually believe this is a good thing. the hospitals are required to offer the operation but only if the parents want it. Aside from the stupidity of the charge, we have the bonus points for the males name and photograph being released but not the females. Even if they both get charged the same (which we know won't happen) the male already has been affected more by having his name and photograph broadcasted across the nation.
/r/MensRights04/09/15 12:24 PM
