Last week I posted an idea about having Devil's Advocate Debates here to help improve debating skills amongst our members, as well as disseminate information to those not generally caught up on all the tools (studies, stats, etc.) we have to refute feminists. I received mainly positive feedback, and enough supporters that I decided to follow through with the idea, and here is the first one.

I picked the pay gap because it is perhaps the easiest feminist platform to refute, it offers even casual members here an easy in to debating, and has enough material to make a decently sized debate. Two things to remember when posting here:

1) Civility- Stay civil. No matter how vitriolic feminists can be, we have to be the bigger ones and be respectful. It isn't fair, but because we are fighting an uphill battle, we are the ones that have to be the better people, or we get lambasted for being assholes. Same applies to this series. It is training for the real world, so that is how we treat it like it is the real world.

2) Sources- Just like before, we are treating this like the real world, and in a real argument you can't just whip out a link to a website and past it on their forehead. If you have to look something up then look it up and summarize in the comment. Don't just copy and paste a link. Still give the main source for the information the way you would in real life, but don't hide behind a hyperlink.

As for formatting, present evidence in a comment then I will provide discourse in that comment thread on the evidence that you present. Reserve new comments to evidence not presented in former comments. Please no long walls of text.

This is especially for those who need to improve their debating skills. If you fall into that category, please use this opportunity to your advantage. In the same manner, if you are already a master-debater (ha) try to only step in if you think the other guys need help.

Last thing: use comment downvotes sparingly. The very nature of this post will incite the want for downvoting comments. Only do so if you truly think a comment doesn't contribute to the discussion at hand.

I submit that there is a discriminatory gender pay gap that stands at 79 cents to the dollar, go!
