One of the few consolations Canadians have is that literally no matter where you are you can drive at most a couple hours and be in complete isolation or be in a region that requires you to have your shit together to face the elements physical and mental. Seems like Australia and Ontario are a lot alike. I can drive about 4 hours and be far enough north to be completely away from city life but close enough to have critical amenities like Tim Hortons. 2 hours further and it's total isolation.
