forced yes, but 'only' 18-23 weeks depending on function. tbh this is the only flaw in switzerland as a man. and going through military service even makes fun IMO. especially because of the fact that all men have to serve, so you get a general sense of brotherhood and patriotism

i'm swiss myself and will have to serve as of january next year. i find this a wrong approach. better would be the elimination of the compulsory service. in that case, only the people that want to serve will serve and because of this, they will have more resources / money for less people. also the infrastructure, technology and transportation could be upgraded / improved.
