Complaint sent. I am in a similar position and I have seen woefully incompetent girls get funding from the Loreal/Unesco funding scheme when there were much better male students who couldn't get any funding at all and subsequently couldn't do a PhD

I would argue that the MRM needs to move away from saying 'false rape' and instead arguing for due process in rape trials and identity protection for both parties until the trial is over.

It depends on the feminists. Most do acknowledge that there are neurological differences between men and women but that these are reinforced or modified in some way by their upbringing which is what the reliable data suggests. The vast majority of feminists who think gender is 100% a social construct are TERF's who use this idea to deny that transgenderism is a legitimate thing and that trans people are just impostors. TERF's are scorned by the mainstream feminist movement to a large degree

/r/MensRights30/09/13 09:42 AM

No. Any social movement will have a certain percentage of extremists and careerists. As the movement achieves more the percentage of this people increase as less moderates are attracted to the movement as the need isnt as great. These sort of people can never be satisfied and will continue to see victimhood and oppression where none exists

To the moderate feminist, patriarchy is having power institutions dominated and by opposing patriarchy, they are supporting a more balanced split in the sex of people occupying these positions. They do not see this as being anti male

The problem is that truly, not all feminists are like that. Talk to your average feminist and they aren't all that bad. The issue is that the most vocal ones are truly shitty and they tend to invest more in their feminism and they rise to the top. Its like saying all muslims are terrorists because the most prominent muslims in the media are those who believe in violent jihad. The best way forward imo is not to pursue feminism per se but to focus on mens issues and deal with feminists only when t…

Also beware of talking in absolutes. Saying 'studies have indicated' rather than 'x is a fact, heres a citation' is a much better attitude to take. No research is flawless and most people throwing the 'facts' around aren't capable of properly critiquing a study and I would say that most dont even read more than the abstract. When reading a paper relating to my own research I will often spend a week with it before I am confidant I have understood everything the authors wish to communicate

I dont have the links to hand but IIRC he wrote some articles conceding a couple of points to the MR side of things. I think he was throwing a line to see if he would be received by us as the feminists were giving him a lot of flack

Well known feminist, wrote a lot about whats wrong with men and got a lot of credibility for it because he was a guy, lost favour with the feminists after it came out that he used his academic position to sleep with students, made attempts at getting sympathy from the MR side, was rejected and had another stab at white knight feminism and has now thrown in the towel

The dismissal of criticism has become a problem in the MRM in the last year or two. Valid concerns are dismissed out of hand as concern trolling and the critic is usually branded as a feminist. It reeks of McCarthyism

Wow what a loaded post. I support equality which is why I support campaigning for removing the stigma from mental health. Not for men, not for women, but for people with mental health issues. If you remove the stigma, you help all sufferers, if you remove the stigma but do it in a way which only helps men, you leave women in the lurch
/r/MensRights06/06/13 11:02 AM
15

It depends. How do you define a false MRA? It can be easy to confuse an MRA who does not share the same views as you with someone who is intentionally trolling. Attacking everyone who posts things which are critical of the MRM prevents the movement from weeding out the extremists and allows them to dominate the conversation

/r/MensRights06/06/13 10:55 AM

The problem is that people of both genders feel stigmatized and to not ask for help. Its not like there is a policy of denying men help and helping women instead
/r/MensRights06/06/13 10:43 AM
5

Personally I dont like that style of campaigning as it ultimately leads to exclusion. It is similar to setting up womens shelters to help victims of sexual abuse because they are statistically more likely* to suffer this varies from country to country and reliable figures are nearly impossible to come by. I use this example for argument only
/r/MensRights06/06/13 10:27 AM

I think mental health awareness is a much wider social issue than just being a mens issue. People of both genders feel stigmatized about mental health issues

Herbivore men arent exactly the same as MGTOW. MGTOW is a conscience decision to avoid long term romantic relationships with women due to perceived inequalities in the system if they break up which outweighss the potential benefits. Herbivore men for the most part are the equivalent of 'basement dwellers'. They are men who are happy doing their own thing and usually are socially awkward, especially around girls and avoid them because of social anxiety. There is a strain of herbivore men who act …

Your liver metabolises ethanol. Young livers have a lower expression of the isoform of the CYP450 enzyme that does the majority of ethanol metabolism giving a slower rate of clearance. Less clearance leads to a higher bioavailability which means alcohol has more of an effect on young people

It does not emerge logically from empirical evidence. We have a system that has different positive and negative discrimination against both genders. This would suggest that gender roles are the sole root of the problem. Patriarchy theory turns this into oppression of women by men, where all of women's privileges are benevolent sexism and thus still oppression as it is condescending and all of mens problems are just a by product of their power. It is viewed through the filter of ideology and thus…

Patriarchy is interpreted as men, as a class, ruling society regardless of the actual definition. Although in many places there is a majority of males in positions of power, power does not lie with males as a class. Males also occupy the lowest rungs of society in greater numbers than females and hence from this perspective patriarchy theory ( which is not a theory at all but it was concieved during a time when the humanities were trying to mimic science to gain credibility. Read up on the Scien…

The MRM is pretty fragmented. I was participating in the MRM on youtube and 2 other forums for about a year before I came to reddit. I had been discussing MR issues since long before that. A lot of people realise there are serious issues, uniting and providing a unified platform that everyone can support is the main challenge

The problem arises with defining feminism. It is a banner term for a philosophy that covers a lot of different ideas and concepts which a lot of feminists argue with each other about. Not all feminists believe in patriarchy theory and by attacking feminism rather than specific concepts and ideas which are under the banner of feminism we attack people who do not deserve it. In truth, not all feminists are like that

Disgusting. The MRM doesnt need pieces of shit like you
/r/MensRights05/09/12 10:48 PM

I wouldnt put false accusations as the first point. It is controversial as many people automatically assume you are a rape apologist and it isnt as widespread in other countries as it is in the US. I would lead with fathers rights or circumcision as it is a more moderate issue that most people have no arguments with and lead from there. I also dont see the need to mention feminism and anti feminism at all. It is an intro to the MRM and it should focus solely on mens issues, many people looking t…

The MRM doesnt blame gynocentrism. It doesnt have an official ideology and the most common cause suggested is gender roles which evolved from a survivalist society which needed to exploit biological differences between the sexes

She was a musician, I would have done the same
/r/MensRights26/08/12 11:04 AM

Yes but that is negating minor attributes. Objectification is usually used to describe when you negate everything except their physical being, reducing them down to essentially a living statue
/r/MensRights26/08/12 01:06 AM

You dont understand the term. To objectify someone is to view them purely as a physical object and negate their personality, intellect etc
/r/MensRights26/08/12 12:08 AM

It depends on the context. If there is a discussion on female inequality and someone brings up unrelated male issues then I dont mind it. If it is used as a silencing tactic then yes it pisses me off
/r/MensRights25/08/12 11:59 PM

Yes it is. If a guy has a dispostition to be a protector, great let him do it but there is no need to raise all guys telling them that it is their duty to protect

Leave out feminism in the article. If you appear anti-feminist most people will assume you are anti-womens rights and think the MRM is a bunch of guys who want women back in the kitchen. Focus on the issues, problems and double standards. Let them reach their own conclusion on the cause

I'm not saying its not possible and if as much research had gone into it as the female pill we would definitely have it by now but there are a lot of different factors that companies take into account when they are looking for new drugs. A couple of companies stopped their research into it when a number of studies came out that showed most women wouldnt trust a man if he said he was on it and married couples would prefer to use the female pill as it had a proven track record. They decided it was…
/r/MensRights16/08/12 09:32 PM
2

This is more research being done into it but it isnt very promising. Most pills for male contraception have a higher risk of causing permanent sterility than for females because the pill takes advantage of the fact that women have a natural temporary period of infertility and uses hormones to sustain this temporary infertility
/r/MensRights16/08/12 09:25 PM

The movement is focused on discrimination faced on the basis of gender, not race, disability status or orientation. We stand for the rights of every man as a man. That is not to say the vast majority of us dont support these causes but we are a movement with one goal in mind

No blacks allowed-its a cultural thing
/r/MensRights07/08/12 01:52 PM

It could be down to the way they talk to the boys. We cant really judge without knowing what she meant
/r/MensRights07/08/12 01:18 PM

In fairness Irish jokes are just plain old racism. I pretty laid back with offensive humour but context has a huge role to play in it. People dont seem to realise that it wasnt uncommon for pubs to have 'no dogs, no blacks, no Irish' signs up until the late 60's and unspoken racism well after that

I never said the majority of the reddit held that opinion. I said it is easy to develop that opinion reading this reddit as he expressed that he wishes to avoid women all together which is anti-woman. I invented no fictitious standpoint
/r/MensRights24/06/12 03:18 PM

There is some truth to that but there is no need to spread outdated gender stereotypes

Feminism is based on postmodern thinking and manipulates and misuses data to fit their ideology. MRA's call this out and oppose special treatment of women which feminists view as an attack on women

/r/MensRights20/06/12 12:36 AM

What does this have to do with male rights? Where is the discrimination based on gender?
/r/MensRights20/06/12 12:12 AM

It means you have at least one Y chromosome. Masculinity is culturally defined and I, along with many MRA's and Masculinitists, reject cultural definitions of men and gender roles. Men are human beings with their own free will and lifestyle preferences. They are no less of a man if they choose to wear dress, speak in a high voice and have sex with other men than if they are strong, stoic and 'manly'
/r/MensRights19/06/12 11:57 PM

I agree with the anti feminist issue. I feel as a community we need to refocus our discussions back towards men and away from bitching about feminism. Misandry stems from anarchaic gender roles and the male stereotype, if we can fix these we will find it much easier to fix institutionalised misandry
/r/MensRights19/06/12 11:48 PM

To be an MRA you dont need to oppose feminism, you just need to express an interest in male rights. The MRM is about male rights at its core, feminism is just something MRA's use to project their aggression towards and to explain why things are the way they are, much the same way as feminists view 'patriarchy'
/r/MensRights19/06/12 11:46 PM
2

I agree with the maximum personal freedom achievable without significantly impacting on others, regardless of gender. I think this will answer all of these
/r/MensRights19/06/12 11:42 PM
4

This is why we need to focus more on dismantling the male gender role. Depression and suicide is linked to self esteem and self acceptance and when society restricts what you may live your life without facing ridicule you push men into a box which they are not happy in
/r/MensRights19/06/12 09:42 AM
4

Its funny but I dont see what it has to do with mens rights
/r/MensRights19/06/12 12:41 AM

Why are the MRM so obsessed with bringing feminism into everything when it is not necessary? Gender roles and stereotypes are the main problems

Great video. I'm glad the coverage is more sympathetic than it has been in the past and I'm especially delighted at the younger women/girls in the protest. It will hit the public much harder than a load of 'grumpy old men'
/r/MensRights17/06/12 01:18 PM

If women can have abortions men can commit suicide whatever way they want. Its the right to bodily autonomy
/r/MensRights17/06/12 09:19 AM

Good article but its a shame that men are still so pussy obsessed that they need to know what women prefer when really they should only be making the decision about their own body based on their own preferences Also the writer doesnt understand what smegma is. It is mostly skin, sperm and lube that has formed a cheesy substance over time due to poor hygiene. It isnt common and lubrication is not automatically smegma

/r/MensRights16/06/12 12:06 AM

The short answer is your experience is based on clients who have come to you. The MRM uses stats from large scale multi disciplinary academic studies. The dissonance in your experiences and the findings of studies is due to the well documented tendency for men to suffer in silence or not to seek help when they do speak out because they are told to 'man up'

I wouldnt judge it by karma. Many redditors are teenage idiots with no experience of the professional world and it is always possible that you could be creating accounts and downvoting it. What I have outlined is the official policy of the places I have worked. You do not escalate things to HR straight away. You have to exhaust all other means first because the company will view you as a trouble maker
/r/MensRights15/06/12 09:17 AM

you are redefining feminism to suit your own purpose. Very few, if any, feminists actually believe thats what feminism is

also let someone outside of work know you are being harrassed. If you are visiting a doctor or psychologist they would be good to have on your side if it does blow up further down the line

It would be a pyrric victory if he won the case and lost his job. It is possible to win this case once he does everything carefully
/r/MensRights14/06/12 03:05 PM

I disagree. To identify as an MRA, all you have to do is express and interest and work towards achieving equal rights for men and changing the perception of men in society to free them from the restrictive male stereotype. You can be pro feminism and still be pro MRM. Feminism is too diverse a movement to effectively criticize as a whole, one must focus on specific people and actions when criticizing feminism
/r/MensRights14/06/12 03:03 PM
2

I'm not sure about the US but that is very illegal here and even if he wins against her he would lose his job

have you never worked in a professional company? HR issues are a huge pain in the ass for companies and they look very bad in audits and company reviews. They take up a lot of time and are a lot of hassle for people of both departments and they arent good for the company moral. By showing that you want to sort it out quickly and quietly they are more likely to be sympathetic to your case because it shows you are not looking for a lawsuit or any money.
/r/MensRights14/06/12 02:54 PM
2

It is similar in my work (pharma company) except if the accused has not made outright threats you are advised to let them know you are feeling harrassed by their behaviour
/r/MensRights14/06/12 02:42 PM
3

Going to HR without letting her or your supervisors about how you feel will get you fired down the line. You have to make the accused aware that you feel bullied and threatened by their behaviour unless they have made out right threats. If you take it straight to HR there is a lot of paperwork and legal issues and she could just say that she wasnt aware that her behaviour was making him uncomfortable and that he should have told her. Harrassment has to be proven and by CC'ing the email to HR the…
/r/MensRights14/06/12 02:40 PM
2

yes you do. You have made the first move and by CC'ing the HR department they know about it. You have shown that you do not want to make a big deal of it and they will appreciate that
/r/MensRights14/06/12 02:34 PM
1

Care to explain why?
/r/MensRights14/06/12 12:56 PM
-2

It depends how you do it. Where I work it is viewed better by the company to try and sort small squabbles like this out by yourselves first to avoid adding more work to HR. The email could just be a list of incidents where he felt bullied and him telling her how he feels bullied by these actions and ask that she stops without any accusations. Its best to take a soft approach with these sort of things to avoid looking like an ass
/r/MensRights14/06/12 12:51 PM
-12

Send her an email calling her out on her behaviour. Dont focus in on the MRA aspect of it, just outline her behaviour and how you feel about it and CC the HR department. It avoids escalating it too much but HR will still be aware of it and it will help you if the shit hits the fan later

/r/MensRights12/06/12 11:05 AM

No. We do not fight sexual discrimination with sexual discrimination. We aim to change social perceptions and we do not do this by demonising an entire gender
/r/MensRights12/06/12 10:47 AM
2

It wont happen. Most MRA's view feminism as the source of all the misandry in the world and are opposed to everyone that calls themselves a feminist. Feminism is to many in the MRM what patriarchy theory is to feminists
/r/MensRights12/06/12 09:24 AM
3

Men are men, regardless of their sexuality and should not be shamed for how they choose to live their life
/r/MensRights12/06/12 09:18 AM
6

Its not just gay men that have to suffer their sexuality being shamed. Promiscuous heterosexual men are rarely regarded as studs despite what many say. They are assumed to be sexual predators or users of women if they have many sexual partners. Virgin shaming is also rampant, its as if for a guy to have a socially acceptable sex life he must have lost his virginity at 14 and only have ever had sex with that one woman

Thats because there is no cure for the rhinovirus. In medicine the goal is always to treat the disease, management of symptoms is of lesser concern and my treating the root cause you eliminate the symptoms
/r/MensRights09/06/12 05:54 PM
1

this could be a feminist video if you replaced every time he says feminism with patriarchy. The harm that feminism has achieved is a symptom of the social perception of men and males being forced into gender roles, feminism is not the root cause
/r/MensRights09/06/12 03:11 PM
6

Many guys are pretty sex crazed in their younger years due to the raging hormones but most guys talk up their sexuality because it is part of the male gender role that they are pushed into to be a sex crazed beast who is horny 24/7. Tell him you prefer guys who have control over their libido and standards about who he finds attractive
/r/MensRights09/06/12 02:58 PM

because many men view women as the source of their problems and blame feminism as a proxy. I'm not saying there aren't any flaws to feminism but many MRA's use feminism the same way feminists use patriarchy theory. Misandry predates feminism and the toleration of feminist misandry is a symptom of a wider problem which is the way men are viewed and the concept of gender roles but it is not the cause of it
/r/MensRights09/06/12 02:49 PM

/r/MensRights06/06/12 06:12 PM

I disagree. The MRM isnt about men vs women, its about societal preconceptions and different treatment based on gender. There men are as much the enemy as women as they too perpetrate gender stereotypes
/r/MensRights06/06/12 06:01 PM

Some good points but overall I got the vibe that traditional masculine men are the only real men and men who want to live alternate lifestyles with attributes that many would consider more befitting for a woman are traitors to their own gender

It it not that the man has to pay the women per se but both parents have to contribute to bringing up the child so it is not disadvantaged. It is because the mother is usually the custodial parent that the father is usually the one who has to pay the other parent but if the father gets custody the mother pays him. It isnt seen legally as one parent providing for the other but as ensuring both parent pay for the upbringing of their child

not necessarily. It usually a reflection of what is considered to be in trend in their particular culture. Someone wearing eyeliner does not tell you anything about their personality other than that they like to wear eyeliner
/r/MensRights31/05/12 02:27 PM

men are still male so whatever males do is by default masculine. It isnt a fixed set of behaviours, merely attributes that are associated with males in a certain period of time
/r/MensRights31/05/12 02:22 PM

So you prefer to be a tool, an appliance, a utility, rather than a person who strives for self fulfillment?
/r/MensRights31/05/12 02:20 PM

What does pedophilia have to do with this? People dont choose who or what they find sexually attractive so why should they be judged on this? Unless of course you mean child molesters which is a completely different thing altogether Why dont you respect them? Is it wrong for a man to choose how he wishes to look? Does it make him a lesser person for having different fashion preferences to you?
/r/MensRights31/05/12 02:13 PM

yay for gender roles! 'if you arent a macho man, your not a man so stop being happy as a sissy and man up and be miserable' Shit like this really annoys me. All men are men deserving of respect, regardless of how they choose to live their lives

I'd like to see discrimination against men called discrimination rather than reverse-discrimination first of all. stay away from crazy women. I dont believe strict censorship is good in any situation but I think people should be called out more when they make blanket statements about either gender ie men are prone to be sexually aggressive or women are biologically programmed to be self entitled bitches. There are evolutionary reasons why some behaviour might be favoured for a specific gender role but in modern times when those gender roles are very fluid these arguments are just blatant sexism. I think the reddit community as a whole…
/r/MensRights15/05/12 07:30 PM

That idea is pretty much the way the majority of men in the MRM view feminism! They argue that this is an extension of female nature and women support feminism to deliberately keep their privileges
/r/MensRights15/05/12 05:15 PM

To all of your points; SOME feminists in SOME countries. Many feminists support the actions you suggest. Bitching about feminism does absolutely nothing to achieving these. We need to fight for mens rights and make this movement about men. Bitching about feminism does neither of these things
/r/MensRights15/05/12 04:39 PM

Your attitude of lumping all feminists together is one of the reasons the MRM doesnt get much respect. Feminists have done great work over the years and by denouncing feminism you denounce these achievements to people outside of the MRM. You also exclude the support of women who identify as feminists who believe in egalitarianism.
/r/MensRights15/05/12 04:29 PM

We should just campaign against the discrimination, complaining against feminism will achieve nothing. Its not like you are going to convince a politician that feminism is bad and all of a sudden they are going to repeal laws that were supported by people who self identified as feminists. Feminism is too broad to combat anyway as for every argument you can make against one particular individual there is always an opposing faction of feminism that agrees with your argument. We need to stay focuse…

Pretty accurate. You left out the section of the MRM that dont discuss discrimination or do anything productive to combat it and just spend all their time complaining about feminists as if they can make everything better by pointing out the negatives of the feminist movement to people that already agree with them using BS pop psychology that was invented by other idiots who fancy themselves as perspicacious intellectuals I am an MRA by the way before people accuse me of being a white knight, I'm…

There should be a rape walk organised to raise awareness about the victimisation that rapists face

Personally I dont see anything wrong with calling dibs. Where I come from at least it isnt claiming the person as your own, its claiming the first chance to take a shot at trying to win her rather than all the guys going for her at once

Great article. I think one of the reasons MGM isnt recognised is because it is more widespread and men tend to be very proud of their junk so rather than come out and condemn the practice, many circumcised guys try to rationalise it and say it hasnt affected them negatively and that they prefer the look of disfigured penises. This is especially true of men outside the MRM

everyone else was helping and he could have rushed over and helped out. He shouldnt have taken pictures

That wasnt rape, it was a guy pushing his luck.

I dont see this as a gender discrimination issue, its the fact that someone took pictures rather than help the person he had chosen as his life partner

They had something similar in an old episode where Homer creeps a babysitter out and then he peels a candy venus di milo off her ass and he is instantly demonised
