The low life I've dated at age 18 did exactly this. It was a lightbulb moment when a former friend pointed this out to me: "You're literally running after him." It was so humiliating! I'm hobbit-sized, but since then, walking speed differences have never been an issue with taller friends or, in general, people who gave a shit about me. Body language is subconscious. When you care for someone, when you have rapport, you'll start mirroring their body language, and I believe walking speed is a part…

This helps indeed - thank you so much for your detailed response! Believe it or not, the idea simply trying on outfits for different Kibbe types and comparing them never occurred to me! I will try this, thank you!

My go-to free self-care activity is taking the time for a long stroll in the neighborhood while listening to podcasts or having a nice chat on the phone with friends or family. I love to explore more of my surroundings. I also love photography, so if I get some nice nature/landscape pics out of it, it's even better!

One of my best friends (though I think her Kibbe type is more FN or something) is an absolute badass queen who rocks a very feminine style with a lot of flower patterns and pastels while radiating "don't f with me" energy. I think wearing the style you love unapologetically can be a huge confidence booster! But yeah, it's appalling how people assign so many negative connotations to anything feminine/girly, it's misogyny at it's best and reading about your dad discouraging your sister from wearin…

There's still quite a harsh lockdown in place where I live, everything fun is closed. I'm quarantining with my bf of a year (we're in a LDR and decided to stay together in my city to ride out the lockdown). Honestly, I'm pleasantly surprised how well we get along, considered we've been cooped up in my tiny apartment for weeks if not months. I thought I would murder anyone for just existing at that point but actually, I genuinely enjoy having him around for a long period of time. He's very affect…

Oh nice, an opportunity to gush a little bit - didn't want to highjack any of the Valentine's posts. I've had the first decent Valentine's Day in years! It might sound a bit low-key since my bf and I didn't get to go on a getaway or even dine out - everything's closed where I live due to the plague. But as far as stay-at-home holidays go, this one was very pleasant! I've spent the night before V-Day at my bestie's place, we had an amazing girls night and I got to see her face light up in the mor…

I'm having a surprise bouquet delivered to my bestie's house on V-Day and am already really giddy when I imagine her joy. She often says to me that I've set the bar very high for any guy she might be dating in the future, because she wants him to treat her at least as I treat her. If that's not a huge compliment, I don't know what is. We also joke about how any guy who wants to win her heart must go through a bootcamp designed by me, to learn how to treat her right. Love the idea!

I think the difference lies in how the standards are enforced. Most men have zero qualms dating women who don't fit their laundry list of requirements while still dreaming of the unicorn that fullfills all these ridiculous and contradicting demands. They know they're settling (according to them) and treat the "good enough for now" partners accordingly. Whereas FDS women would rather not date at all than date the wrong one. So it might hurt egos upfront by rejection, but at least we're not leadin…

This is the first time in years I'm actually kinda looking forward to Valentine's day, because I trust my bf to be capable of making it special. Previous V-Days were often ruined by my exes' stinginess and overall NV-ness. But there is no either or, I can spoil myself and my friends despite being in a relationship. I've already gifted myself new fancy make-up, and I ordered a beautiful bouquet of flowers to be delivered to my bestie on V-Day, I'm really excited about how she will like it!

I get where you are coming from, and I feel the same way. Recently, I've noticed an influx of "men don't wash their a**" posts and I always wondered how we at FDS benefit from them (besides getting a chuckle out of it). Unsanitary men are so hopelessly LV that I believe no one who follows FDS would ever consider dating them, even in their worst nightmares. So imo we don't have to be "warned" or anything because gross guys like this wouldn't ever be considered for vetting. And yeah, these post mi…

Good question. I don't think it got removed removed, because I still can see it on my post history and it's accessible via the link I posted above, it just doesn't show up in the FDS feed... I have a standard for cleanliness when I'm at home alone and a standard for cleanliness for when I expect guests. When I don't expect company, I don't mind if my place is a bit messy - messy, not dirty. But I ALWAYS clean thoroughly before guests arrive. That's why I hate it when friends offer to "drop by" spontaneously like in 15 min. No the fuck you don't. I can't panic-clean my place in 15 min. I can't wrap my head around his "logic." If I understand correctly, to him, personal hygiene is a chore along with doing dishes etc.? Washing HIS body is something he does FOR HER, so if he's done some bare minimum chores, he gets a free pass on being sweaty and disgusting? Make it make sense.

My boyfriend is the same. We don't own a car, so we have to carry our groceries all the way home - except he does all the carrying. I once tried to help by carrying a lightweight, but cumbersome object (like a pack of toilet paper) and he stubbornly snatched it from me lol. And he always offers to carry my purse. I can't express to you with words how much I detest this harmful narrative that equals monogamy to insecurity. Insecurity is about not being able to enforce boundaries - as in letting your bf flirt with other women or worse. Not wanting to put up with this bullshit has nothing to do with insecurity. We don't reject infidelity because we feel threatened by other women - we reject it because we ARE secure enough to know we are a catch and deserve a loyal man.

Recently, I've read/heard something about butterflies/the tingles not being a good sign, because they're basically an anxiety response. It could be that your body is reacting to some red flags that your subconscious picked up. For this reason, I would take butterflies with a grain of salt, beside this, I very rarely get them because I need to warm up to people platonically first to feel sexual attraction. This reminds me of a podcast episode on narcissism that I listened to yesterday. It really brought home the point that the first sign something's off is the fact that you are confused to the point you feel the need to do research. Healthy relationships, healthy people don't have you lose sleep researching mental illnesses to figure out what the hell is going on with them.

My take is that the universal love language is effort. Stepping out of your comfort/convenience zone, trying or learning something new, improving skills that might be underdeveloped - all in the name of making your partner happy. How this applies to the individual love languages might differ, but the foundation is always effort, effort to make someone feel valued in a way that speaks directly to them.

To me, polyamory seems like a concept to rationalize greed for people with an inflated ego. People who think they're so awesome they deserve to dissapoint multiple partners simultaneously. And they target people with low self-esteem, who deep down believe they are not "enough" so it's okay for their partner to "supplement" them with additional partners. A friend of mine nailed it when she said: "Polyamory is not about having more. It's about having less. Less intimacy, less responsibility, less …

So happy to hear that you are doing so much better, and so proud of you for setting yourself free! LVM take a toll even on our physical appearance, I can confirm this. Looking at old photos from back when I was dating an abusive sociopath makes me shudder. I was borderline anorexic with permanent bags under my eyes. No wonder my parents were convinced I was abusing drugs - I looked like a heroin junkie! Which I was - emotionally and spiritually. And my eyes just looked sad and scared. Ever since…

Stopped reading after "issues with infidelity" because the wording already rubs me the wrong way. It shifts the responsibility, makes it impersonal. He doesn't have issues with infidelity - he is a cheater. We don't say murderers have "issues with killing."

This brings back traumatic memories from where I was 19ish and dating an absolute psychopath. I had the AUDACITY to spontaneously get an undercut and dye my hair a low-key unnatural color. My ex was FUMING. Why didn't I warn him? And best of all: "What will my parents think?" (we lived at his parents' place at the time... don't ask, long story). Fun thing is, his mom LOVED my style. She once even asked to take a photo of me in full goth outfit because "I looked like a doll." It wasn't about the …

You will stop caring about being popular, and thus be able to form real connections. No one will rescue you but you yourself. Once you're free from whatever you're trying to run away from, you'll learn to love being alone. Polyamory is emotional torture. Don't let the fear of being alone force you to settle. You are already having doubts - I would recommend to listen to your gut.
