Why?

This is sage advise. I’ve PM’d you to talk further. Thanks again xx

Thanks that's pretty fair.

Thanks this is VERY helpful however, what if I were to argue a bit differently. Why not have sex sooner so if true colors have to emerge, they do sooner than realizing after I've spend 3 months on someone who changes after sex? Just wondering.

What do you think are some great answers to Why someone loves you?

Thank you. This is helpful. For now I’m taking it slow and just going with the flow, trying to not get super invested early on.

Thanks a lot, your advice is always so on point. Should I let him lead in planning dates too? I'm generally the "responder" in a relationship and he keeps throwing cues at me (telling me he's performing at the local theater, presenting a speech) and my general response is to go to support him wherever. Is this a good rapport?

That's fair. We've been seeing eachother for a week now. What do you think of the the general pace of the relationship? Thanks so much!

He doesn’t have kids but is generally busy (he is a life coach), and also extremely focused on keeping fit and active (working out, meditating, mindfulness) so yes I am inclined to say he doesn’t spend time on useless activities. I want to understand how an actual meeting once a week is sufficient and at par with what FDS promotes? Could you please elaborate that? Also, on communication, how many days / times a week should you communicate? Via text or phone calls?

Can I know where the tools to vet these men are available?

What work did you do in the one year hiatus? I am focusing on myself and spending time being alone, but don't know what I should particularly be doing.

Don't you think all of these behaviors shouldn't happen so early on in the relationship? He literally gave me reasons to not trust him.

The only thing he was apologetic about was for disappearing the entire night and not remaining in touch. He gave in and agreed to not do go overnight ever again only coz I insisted.

He actually didn't think it was wrong. IMO when you're in a committed exclusive relationship you don't spend such long hours (he went overnight) or create situations for mishaps to happen especially with a woman you've had some history with (they were fwb many years ago). He was also portraying to be single as we had decided to keep the relationship on the DL. He didn't think anything was wrong with the above and kept insisting I must 'trust' him.

For going to the desert, he says it's never happened in his life and he doesn't see it happen again

What if a month into us dating, he screws up by going to the desert overnight with a former fwb but apologizes and says it's truly platonic b/w them. Would you have forgiven him, knowing he has a cheating past?

What if you're put in a situation where you're debating, if I try it'll be the best relationship of my life i.e. the guy shows all signs of being a reliable partner

I agree with your thoughts. In my case, I dated a guy who claimed to do the inner work - introspection, meditation, lifestyle shift, but still demonstrated patterns that proved he had a long long way to go - I think most people do not understand emotional cheating and that in a classical monogamous relationship, even spending intimate moments with the opposite sex is cheating - he went to the desert overnight with an ex, and for a totally random long walk with a girl he knew nothing about - to m…

I dated a guy but the longer I spent with him I started to see sides I hadn't previously - manipulation, feeding attention off of women etc (even if not physically cheating but engaging in date like activities with them)

Why do you think? He says he hasn't cheated

The fwb was 7 years ago and he claims to be just friends with her present day, but it sounds super fishy.

When’s a good time to be talking about all this in a relationship?

How and why do we get so blindsided? I’m so confused as to how terribly I got duped and not sure how I should avoid this because he tainted my perspective and definition of love

Wow this explains it piece by piece how everything he did was so fkd up - he chased me for 2 full months can you believe? Did and said everything right!!!!

I’m shattered coz he literally said we would get married and we spent hoursssss on end talking about our future. I even met his family multiple times over dinners, games, and festivals, so they obvs knew he was dating me. He did invest a lot of his time too - so I’m honestly just SO confused rn

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
