A “high value” middle aged man would damage his personal and professional image by dating someone who could be his daughter. Only creepy sleazebags are impressed by that

Might depend on the person. I had a ton of relationship experience by that age but have several friends who really didn’t. I’d probably pass to leave you for a less experienced or jaded lady, but not if our chemistry was immaculate and you were nice and responsible

Red pill is not about coddling men (or women). It’s about taking ownership and being self disciplined, so

It won’t be healthy to model resentment and codependency for the kids. I know it’s trite advice but couples counseling would be a good first step.

Ok! Re the lazy description, I was basing that question off you historically feeling like his mom. Sounds like it’s not an issue. However the porn addiction is a huge red flag - he needs to proactively keep that under control to be a good leader in the relationship imo. And he’s right that it’s not your job, but it IS his job to do therapy or whatever works AND not ok at all to blame you for his addiction. I think this relationship started on shaky foundations on both sides and May agree with th…

The fuck are you talking about? Yoga, new age bullshit, astrology and crystals are absolutely not things intelligent women associate with intelligence. Social issues, current events, analysis of pop culture, clever humor, etc sure

It’s fairly easy to show by having a witty funny profile and a smart job.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/12/21 11:51 PM

Intelligence also usually = imaginative, funny/witty, emotionally intelligent/socially skilled, interesting career. All of this is damn sexy and I only date highly intelligent guys. You’re right, we don’t care to listen to you blather on listing facts about things that interest you and you alone. That’s selfish and boring

Thanks girl. Yeah, someone who likes to pontificate and marinate in and share and get paid for proving their opinions is a little dicey lol. Although the field is tech more broadly, and the day job seems fine. He doesn’t know the timeline on the recent breakup and I’m keeping the details kind of close to my chest.

Ok, thanks for validating. I’ll stay busy with my own things, keep dating others, and not allow any pressure to build from perceived courtship effort. Realistically cracks should start to show in a few months, and i don’t want to be exclusive or intimate until then to be sure we are on the same wavelength.

We talked very briefly about this. No mean or dismissive language like that, but one ex apparently didn’t understand his need for independent alone time. Another one apparently started pushing to move in 4 months in, and they broke up at the 9 month mark. To me, these are signals of avoidance or commitmentphobia once the honeymoon period wears off
/r/askFDS12/10/21 10:34 PM
19

Yeah the quick idealization of me (didn’t know anything yet about my family, past struggles, annoying habits, etc) combined with relatively short-lived relationship history seems iffy. Wondering if he’s avoidant and projecting something on to me or anxious and controlling. Either way at our ages it seems unlikely that this would be the proper approach to vetting for a wife.

Reading your comment feels so uncomfortable, but it’s gotta be true. And I feel the same way about burning man. I have been to regional burns and enjoy participating in the art and exploring, but there also seems to be so much excitement surrounding the orgy dome, the nudity, etc that I just don’t need to be in close proximity to as I look to build a stable family. Also am I crazy for being weirded out by the roommates thing? They’re a couple, 25 and 28, but he’s mentioned off and on how hot they are (usually referring to the guy, a bodybuilder). But then he pays the chick to clean and like they hang out and he talks about them a lot and they tell him about relationship problems etc etc. plus she always wears like zero clothes, which is fine it’s her house just, I’m hoping y’all can reassure me here. Its not a misconception that people who drop out are uneducated. By definition, they absolutely are. Did you mean unintelligent? Because that’s fair, plenty of brilliant people are deprived a formal education. Please don’t plan your entire life around a hypothetical man - that’s how you end up with an abuser. Plan your life for you, then once you meet and vet a compatible Christian man, you can focus on your family.

HVM don’t want high school drop outs. Terrible idea all around… makes you seem like a clingy mooch tbh, or a little crazy to do all that just on the off chance you can get married right away. Not saying you are, just how it might be perceived. Also if you place all your bets on one horse (magically meeting a magnanimous high earner to get married ASAP), you’ll have too much incentive to rush the vetting process, and can ultimately end up having wasted years with no education skills or savings. Gotta say, you don’t sound like much of a stable family oriented man, which is why I personally avoid men who deliberately seek out much younger women. Peter Pan complex. To each their own though. Why are you in your 40s with the dating life of a 20 something? Fine for you, but makes sense why women would want someone in a more grown up mindset. I want a man ready for a real family, not so concerned with the hot new concerts. Ofc that’s exactly why we wouldn’t be compatible so it all shakes out …

Well I mean, my bf has a huge dick and makes 300k and looks super handsome, AND he is honest, kind, assertive, healthy, loyal, etc. You can find both if you are a good catch yourself, and I would never sacrifice the latter for the former. Tbf I wasted my time on crappy guys in my early 20s. Now early 30s with an early 40s guy. Some of us take longer to grow up and learn not to put up with nonsense haha

No, absolutely not. There are too many decent men out there who don’t need to do bullshit like that. Happy to “sacrifice” a few inches of height or whatever for basic common decency and not treating me like a bang maid. Tbh tall guys with 6 figures is… a low standard. You should probably start therapy and focus on yourself, your education/friendships/hobbies for a few years before you start worrying about dating, especially since you’re keen to marry. I came from a broken home as well and tolerated so many shitty guys, wasting years of my time. Finally did a few years of weekly therapy and started attracting healthier people into my life. TBF the RedPillWomen subreddit got in a weird space where they were excusing abusive behavior from male partners. The vetting piece is ongoing and so so critical, it’s dangerous to create an atmosphere where women are constantly blaming themselves for bad treatment and shouldering the entire outcome of a relationship. Good men are 100% worth submission and vulnerability, but to suggest all men deserve that is dangerous. I noticed that the RedPillWives does way less of that, which is why I’m so h…

I think your husband sounds like a levelheaded, respectful partner. There are other ways to feel you’re in a submissive role that you may be able to explore with him, such as having him make day to day decisions while you still have some foot in the overarching financial goals you have as a family. FWIW in many traditional Asian cultures where the man is expected to be the earner and leader, the wife is expected to manage the entire household, including finances. Consider that your association a…

He also clearly wasn’t courting her correctly from the jump by being super low effort. She doesn’t bear all the blame in that case IMO, other than that she wasn’t vetting correctly, and reading the room re: his interest in her. You dress up and give your all to a man leading and invested in you, not a low effort Tinder hookup man.

Blech, I am 31F, date men and women, and couldn’t see myself going younger than 27 for either gender. Just feels off... and like, I’m secure enough that I bring enough to the table to attract someone close to my age who is also attractive - so why would I need to go for “fresh meat” who is too easily impressed?? As I’ve aged I’ve realized just how creepy dudes have been, once I’m able to see it from my own POV at the age of men who have creeped on me over the years. And real talk I was a cutie a…

Also for men open to pursuing younger women based on factors other than desirability, naturally an 18 year old will qualify for all ages 18-28 at least - the study design is trash
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy02/04/21 07:58 PM
10

Also they didn’t account for overall volume of messages sent out BY various age groupings - like maybe 18-23 year old dudes are way more active on tinder, and maybe divorced 45+ women are more active and more willing to send messages first; should be a proportion of those presented in the queue rather than just # of messages total

I like OkC for this exact reason. I almost always find something left swipeable in the questions. All my serious relationships were from men I met IRL so I decided to get out there and make a data driven relationship decision. First, I put unabashedly that I’m looking for marriage and kids, and strict monogamy. Still plenty of matches with the same criteria. Then I just ruthlessly eliminated people until I found the guy I’m currently dating. 99% match, had answered hundreds of questions. He kept…

That sounds like a nice place to meet folks, also maybe if you have any outdoor fitness classes or volunteer opportunities available. I know it's not popular here but we met on OLD. Y’all ever read the book The Power? The main premise is that within a short time, women develop organs with lethal electrocution powers, triggering a massive shift in gender power dynamics. Men are raped, objectified, stalked, demeaned at work, etc. While I was reading it, I caught myself horrified as if this shit is brand new. It’s happening ALL THE TIME but we are so desensitized to violence and discrimination against women it barely even registers.

Honestly, 30-60 minutes on the phone every day when you’re only apart a week at a time sounds a bit smothering, and I’m a pretty attentive/communicative person. Especially if she is busy with caring for relatives, she probably could use a little space. How you feel is valid, but maybe you can compromise with just one call?

Interesting that you’re so vitriolic towards her when he is the one with broken vows, but ok. Hope it works out I guess

So you’re only 20, and want a guy with a job that gives back to society, with a low maintenance lifestyle, who likes to read habitually? And you absolutely bring the same to the table? That’s completely reasonable. You have plenty of time to meet people and vet for those qualities!

Law is a risky professional school these days in terms of costs vs yield. A master’s, MBA, PA degree, or even med school would all be safer bets. The market is totally saturated already, and she’ll be looking at med school debt but potentially stuck in an unemployed- 100k zone as opposed to 130k - 400k basically guaranteed income as a doctor or about $80-140k for an MBA which would only run her about $40k in tuition.

Breast implants are an advantage for many men, not a disadvantage. Not everyone’s favorite but provided they turned out nice, they’re going to age nicely. That point aside, you can do better. Don’t date someone you want to fundamentally change - it’s controlling and codependent.
/r/RedPillWives25/01/21 06:58 PM

Well if he only appreciates you as some rich guy checklist trophy, you don’t want him as a husband anyway tbh

I unfollowed for similar reasons honestly. Thanks for bringing this topic to the forefront! Also it started to feel unhealthy reading constant reminders about how ugly and worthless and late to the game any unmarried 30+ woman is. Clashes with everyone’s take who I know IRL so I wanted to be sure I wasn’t brainwashing myself in an unhelpful negative way.

What if you’re a feminine feminist?
/r/RedPillWomen29/07/20 06:16 PM

Shaming femininity is just misogyny tbh. And I think people absolutely over state it here lol. Grew up loving dresses and pink and cooking in absolute liberal echo chambers and never had an issue.

So you’re a perfectly normal person? Relax and be easier on yourself. You were recently in an abusive relationship, which comes through in the way you talk about yourself honestly. You need to heal and recalibrate your self-worth and picker. Get a therapist, an exercise regimen you like, and try a new hobby and stick with it.

Wow, worded perfectly.

To be fair, there IS a lot of internalized misogyny floating around here especially around aging. Also your BP messaging examples are mostly straw men. No one really believes that you are entitled to a great guy if you’re ugly and don’t put yourself out there.

100%. If trans women existing makes you feel like less of a woman somehow, I think that’s a you problem, not a trans women problem. The more ladies the merrier IMO

Why is this even a thread here? I have worked with trans patients in public health days and have a few trans friends. They are women. They also have experience presenting and moving through the world as a male. So that’s a difference, yes.

Um, Tolstoy > Dostoevsky any day of the week! Agreed that dude in the OP sounds like a smug dbag though.
/r/RedPillWomen09/07/20 07:31 PM

Oh no, this is something I could see myself falling for when I was like 18-20. Lesson learned OP... Even if a guy actually does like heady literature and wines and trivia, anyone acting like a pretentious try-hard should be pinging your weirdo detector. And even if a guy is classy and intelligent and everything you want, including being multi-dimensional and humble, wait at least a few more dates to bang! Not shaming, just take your time. Let anticipation build.

I LOVE nude patterned fishnets (more doily-like than regular ones) under a pastel dress & cardigan or blazer, with a heeled t-strap sandal. Just beautiful, and demurely sexy.

Hoo boy this is a lot of nonsense. We are not threatened or oppressed because of our skin. We look like most politicians, celebrities, and business people. Stop making straw man arguments. This is toxic white supremacist language. Whiteness is not a culture. I’m white with a touch of Jewish so maybe I’m more sensitive to this but you need to gain some perspective and drop the victim complex.

Girl I promise it’s ok. You weren’t perfect but that’s alright, neither is he. I know it’s trite but everything happens for a reason... take this opportunity to learn how to be more direct with communication and go find someone whose values sit right with you. He’s out there!

This is hilarious. The last 5 red flags are totally solid but the rest are dumb. “Has a job normally worked for women” “vegan” “likes Star Wars” So you want a boring sexist bro? Ok more for you I guess

People are being harsh with you. No, you shouldn’t have bugged him after he ended things. But tbh it sounds like you guys had different values, and he seems callous/impatient. Is that really who you want to be with long term? Someone who you can’t be yourself around?

I think he’s spinning things back on you and deflecting responsibility. He seems immature. Move on. Also - I see chicks kind of lie with the whole “yeah I also want to take it slow and see where it goes.” No, you like him and want to be exclusive or move on. So say that, and do just that.

I am chagrin to admit this on RPW but honestly, any man I’ve ended up in a relationship with I’ve been ready to sleep with very fast. I’m not married though (although I’ve always been the dumper), so speaking from experience I think that’s a bad move for vetting since you let yourself get sexually attached (live and learn lol). But in terms of mens’ perceptions and getting your foot in the door commitment-wise, if the chemistry is there, it’s there, and if it’s not it’s just not. No amount of ma…

Ok just checking! I mean, maybe she’s looking for that? Not great RPW advice. I am just feeling a bit defensive of her for some reason, maybe because she doesn’t actually claim to be RPW.
/r/RedPillWomen08/06/20 05:14 PM

Totally. Being hard to get is good, but playing hard to get is games and will put off a guy with strong frame and self worth.

We don’t have any clue whether she does or not. She’s giving dating advice, not fertility maximization advice
/r/RedPillWomen08/06/20 04:53 PM
23

So because she’s not married you’re calling her a prostitute? That seems cruel
/r/RedPillWomen08/06/20 04:51 PM
23

Y’all I know maternal complications increase after 30. I know. But it’s routinely overstated in here and we don’t even know her goals. Maybe she doesn’t want kids. Maybe she wants to adopt. I have like 3 32+ women in my family with MDs who recently had beautiful healthy kids and are aiming for more. My mom had me at 35. Two of my friends waited until 40. Not everyone lives to have kids young; that doesn’t mean they can’t be sexy and attractive and have a fulfilling dating and romantic life.
/r/RedPillWomen08/06/20 04:24 PM
27

You can have multiple children even if you start after 30. She’s not 45, she’s 34. Not ideal for us ladies here maybe but she’s not some withered old hag lmao
/r/RedPillWomen08/06/20 04:17 PM

34 isn’t that old, damn. I love RPW but the internalized misogyny is depressing. Women aren’t worthless and unsexy and unlovable after 30 That being said, take ANY monetized dating coach advice with a grain of salt!
/r/RedPillWomen08/06/20 04:10 PM

Yeah somehow you’re supposed to vet while abstaining from sex for months, not move in before engagement, AND be engaged within a year?? Seems confusing haha
/r/RedPillWomen03/06/20 02:13 AM
6

I sure wouldn’t wait 10 years, maybe 2-3, but my cousin and two coworkers of mine were proposed to 10 years into their relationships. Everyone wanted to wait after finishing degrees, hitting 30 etc. If people start dating early sometimes it just makes extra sense to wait.
/r/RedPillWomen03/06/20 02:11 AM

I absolutely agree that it should at least be discussed as a tangible next step to work toward! But that’s a big step away from an actual proposal is all.
/r/RedPillWomen03/06/20 02:08 AM
15

I think proposing within a year is extreme, personally, at least in many circles and cultures. It’s not really fair to make a blanket statement that he doesn’t love you if he doesn’t propose before then.

Now I’m 30, and half a year in with someone I could see myself marrying. I’m so glad I went to school(s)... making close to 6 figures allows me to have investments, savings, regular therapy and beauty treatments, access to interesting hobbies, and I’m not loaded with debt. Who says that to a dog? This guy is mentally screwed up. Get away from him, and stop worrying about fixing him or managing his life. He’s an excuse/distraction from fixing and managing your own life. Get out, work on yourself, go to therapy, and THEN find a guy, vet him well, and after all that is done you can worrying about surrendering and all that Jazz. Can’t build a house on a shaky foundation. Better to do all of this right than to do it faster.

Oh ok, 100%! Understandable. Sexual incompatibility is super important.
/r/RedPillWomen05/05/20 04:51 PM
4

I think the points of being a switch or not are totally valid; if it doesn’t work for someone maybe it can be a case of sexual incompatibility. Or, perhaps the two can reach a compromise just like hetero couples who dabble in anal only on special occasions because the woman knows he likes it so much. Just didn’t sit right with me to imply that there is something psychologically wrong with a subby guy.
/r/RedPillWomen05/05/20 03:17 PM

This seems really extreme. Often, strong or powerful men are into the kink as a way to finally relinquish control for a little bit to a beautiful woman confident enough to enjoy him as she pleases sexually. It’s very validating for busy men to get to relax and be a sex toy for a half hour here and there. If he’s dominant most of the time there can be a little taboo factor that can be fun for him. Submissive kink is a spectrum anyway. A guy who likes to be tied up and ridden or have you sit on hi…

You’re being such an asshole for no reason. Two things can exist in parallel; men had very little options and struggled HARD. As you yourself said, this was primarily a class issue. Fat cats have been chuckling at all of us from the top of the hill while we turn on each other, for millenia

What system are you talking about? The original comment said women have more of a platform to voice their opinions now, and that they weren’t necessarily happier before legal abortions/right to work etc. Are you talking about tradcon marriages? Because that system hasn’t been thrown out and a lot of people happily live that lifestyle. That lifestyle, however, is only safe if the man is a good person, so it’s better that women have recourse to support themselves if things go sour.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/04/20 06:28 PM

So no husband has ever hit his wife then? How cute that you would think otherwise. To an abusive drunk, “no reason” can mean burning dinner, getting flirted with, asking him for favors, getting fat, etc etc And lol a large number of police do abuse their power, and there have been active efforts to reform police culture with body cams and increased accountability.

If they have 2 brain cells to rub together and you’re not in the public sector most people should implicitly understand that engineers make a good salary. Don’t put the salary, it’s tacky. A degree with a huge experience gap will probably net you a bottom of the barrel sales or receptionist job, not factoring in the fact that our economy is currently circling the drain... Not enough to pay a mortgage and raise a child alone in most parts of the US.

Except the doctor ex was late, sort of republican, sexist, etc and my stepdad saw through it and didn’t like him as much as the engineer. Well 100 lbs at 5’5” is a BMI of 17. Don’t make ridiculous sweeping statements. Yes climber women are definitely lean, petite, and sexy. They’re not skeletal and being over 100 lbs is completely fine

Yeah but just because she’s not peak of peak doesn’t mean she can’t be objectively attractive and have suitors. Psych studies actually indicate that for middling attractiveness people age is super important for their looks, but that highly attractive people are rated close in attractiveness even at age intervals (20 to 30 to 40). If a guy thinks a woman in her late 30s can’t be objectively attractive, he either is young, thinks women he sees irl are younger than they are, or has his standards wh…

And conversely, with enough money and effort, women’s “wall” might be way further down the line than 30. Look at any model or actress. Or honestly even just healthy UMC women in metro areas.

Again - looking is pretty normal, but liking/interacting is creepy, especially if it’s the age of minority where OP lives Hard disagree on 16 being women’s prime lmao. Women’s peak fertility and healthiest births are in the early 20s anyway.

100%. I stopped making eye contact at the gym/in public in my early 20s for this reason. It would be a hassle when someone thought he got the “green light” when I was just trying to get a workout in or buy my groceries.

I disagree. 17 year olds are young, hormonal, and dumb and adults should know better than to give them sexual attention. Look, don't like (personally I'd rather be with a man who sexualizes legal adults). Not to mention nothing in your post suggests the girls dislike the attention lol. I think you have a nice mindset about her job. But yeah, especially in big cities, I think partly because CoL is high and people are wary of being married for money/freeloading. This can be confusing for guys also. My last bf was a doctor from a traditional Catholic family, but held progressive ideals and all his friends were doctor-doctor or doctor-phd couples. I noticed you’re Muslim and the expectation is she will stay at home, so maybe it’s different. There is a lot to unpack here. Have you had a repressive religious upbringing? You're super young. You are not in a rush. You need to be working on yourself and growing up first because you sound ripe for, at best, codependency or, at worst, latching on to the first abusive jerk who gives you the time of day. Of course you can monetize your sexual services. Unfortunately most of the consumers of those services are men and a handful of old rich women. There's nothing stopping you except your own "ick" factor here. Or you could be like my stepbrother, and be super good-looking, agreeable, and domestic, and stay home and raise a big-baller career woman's kids. He loves it. Welcome to 2020.

I'm curious, what scholar and what context? I know here in California, presumption of shared parenting is usually good but also includes abusive fathers. Not worth it to throw the baby out with the bathwater, so to speak, but it's very hard to restrict access even when it's a bad man using his kids as a control token over his ex.

Women do pay higher in divorce settlements, depending on income. My mom paid $1k/month to my dad when he divorced her since he had been a stay at home husband. Was it fair? Honestly, yeah, she could afford it and he did his part in spending his time being a good reliable dad and husband.

“As special” is the wrong way to look at it. You didn’t get to have one of a variety of “firsts” with him. There is no point in dwelling on anything you can’t change. Did you go to prom with him? .... Trans men, who were originally women, have periods, unless they have taken enough testosterone to stop that function. This is a simple fact, not a suggestion. Understand? No one is saying cis men (99% of men) are “supposed” to have periods.

People born with female parts who identify as male are trans men. People born with male parts who identify as female are trans women. It’s not super hard to understand.

Legit how does this feminize men??? It’s a shallow marketing ploy targeting trans men who still have periods. Zero effect on cis men

Trans people didn’t petition for the logo change, it was a marketing move. They just want to exist and be themselves and not be endlessly scrutinized. Seriously, most of the trans people I know are relatively apolitical anyway. They’ve got enough going on and are very normal cool people.

Borderline sexual assault. He put his desire to bust a nut over your comfort and possibly safety. I had a bf like this, would keep going when I cried. Awful. I’m so sorry, it’s a creeping gross feeling when you process how not ok it is. Do you have any access to therapy? It might help you sort out your feelings. Sending support and positivity your way.

Yeah, I mean being a devoted SAHM with a busy husband is one thing, but I meant he sounds more like someone who wants an “out of sight out of mind” wife with no individual needs that he’s expected to attend to. That’s most likely a deficit if you are at all active. Try bumping that up to 1,800 and lift HEAVY, like 4-8 reps til exhaustion. 3-4 sets. Deadlifts, squats, rows, chest presses, etc. If you eat like a bird just sneak in extra healthy calories with olive oil, avocados, peanut butter, etc. Make sure you’re getting 80-120g of protein every day.

Interesting that you made a removed post in r/Fitness about low body fat and irregular cycle. Sounds like you’re not being honest here. Of course looking like a VS model is great, just stressing that 18% is already significantly low since it’s the standard for literal runway underwear models. And no offense but your bodyfat measurement method is either way off, or your eating/exercise habits must be far outside the norm to maintain that level of bodyfat. For normal women who want to get sexy wit…

Um, Victoria’s Secret models are between 16-18%. Bodybuilding women hover around 14-15%. Lower than that and you stop having your menses and/or develop osteoporosis. Not to mention the lifestyle commitment it takes to stay there in a healthy manner... Ladies need our estrogen! It stays in our fat. 18-20% will give an incredible slim sexy look. As long as you’re strength training and eating well up to 22-24% is perfectly healthy. Let’s be supportive and not foster eating disorders!

I also respect the desire for a trad relationship too, but being so clear about it, then dismissive of her reasonable concern, and already talking about moving in after 1 date sends off a weird vibe. Sort of like a wife is a checkbox to take care of at some point, ideally someone he doesn’t have to bother with and can leave at home to handle stuff. That sounds cynical and doesn’t necessarily make him a bad person, but it does seem odd.

You forget poor working class women confined to factories, farm labor, or prostitution. The sudden growth of the American middle class after WWII allowed more (not all) women the option to stay at home. Looks like we have all gotten so comfortable now that we are whitewashing and romanticizing the past.

You can do both, they aren’t mutually exclusive. In my case at least, it took me some time to know myself, improve, and grow to the point where I am ready to be a solid wife and mom (30, masters degree, educated family where everyone marries after 30). I’ve never had trouble keeping men, but would settle for the wrong ones and was still a little bit naive/messy. Good guess. That's a definite possibility. Step one is probably for him to get a real diagnosis. Do you find that irritability is a component of your condition? You sound like a fantastic woman, wife, and mom. Clearly he loves the way you are, as evidenced by the 17 years of marriage. Are you staying in shape? Are you kind, supportive, and Have a sunny disposition? If so, I think it’s ok to relax and be yourself. Not every guy needs the stereotypical bells and whistles of femininity. She needs to work on herself and try not to feel desperate. What’s wrong with that advice? Fixating on your own loneliness and feeling shitty about yourself are great ways to stay single or attract weird guys.

I'm kinda there with you but met the love of my last by random chance last fall. It happened so fast... just work on enjoying your life. As soon as you can make peace with yourself, I swear that's when love finds its way out of the woodwork. Also realistically your fertility window can stretch to 40 these days. Don't sweat it, just keep continuously improving inside and out.

I literally ignore guys who aren't work colleagues or real friends. It's not hard. I used to entertain guys like this under the guise that they were my friends, but they aren't. I have plenty of other actual friends. The guy friends I do have go way back and we have incredibly solid boundaries. I don't even do things like text them at night. They got the picture a long time ago so it's not an issue. I have a friend who is really cool but she thrives on male attention. When we are out dancing…

We just said it for the first time (4 months in) this past week! He asked me while he were hanging out if I had “thought about the l-word” and I said yes, and he switched to “our song” on the record player and then declared his love. I said it back and then he listed out all the reasons he loves me. It was so cute. Aaaa I knew I was falling for him a while back, although I wanted to keep vetting more. Also, I never want to say it first...!

Have you ever dated a man with a busy schedule? Yes! Currently dating a medical resident. What adjustments did you make to meet each other halfway? I try to get my work and errands done on his call days (28-hr shifts) and while he sleeps so I can be more available for him when he is free. He calls me when he gets downtime overnight. We wake up before work together so we can sit together over breakfast and coffee. How can I make his life easier? Take care of errands if you can and it doesn’t put …

Yeah you can always go for less attractive guys, slightly bald, a bit paunchier. They can demonstrate value in humor, work ethic, integrity, etc, and you can still work on your femininity and body. Also plastic surgery is fine imo if you’ve really thought on it for a LONG time, it’s not irresponsible financially, and you do tons of research. Surgery is NOT necessary to find a good guy who loves you however. I promise

I’ll be up front and say I am biased since I had mine done. While it’s true there is risk assumed with the procedure, it’s highly unlikely with a skilled surgeon and proper aftercare. Implant rupture/replacement before 10 years is also highly unlikely. Within 1 year is... not realistic at all. Fat transfer is not permanent. Obviously elective surgery doesn’t sit right with everyone, which is absolutely understandable but I think there is a lot of misinformation floating around.

Hmm. Try reading Why Men Love Bitches. Helped me stop being a doormat or swinging the other way and being a nag. The title is misleading; the key is NOT to be a bitch, but how to enforce boundaries and elicit respect, and why men appreciate when you have the self worth to do this and the submissive finesse to do so in a feminine way.

Many guys that age do not want to go after so women so young because it LOOKS bad to family, friends, coworkers, etc. The OP is NOT going to have problems dating simply by virtue of her age, but for a host of other reasons. Provided someone takes care of themselves and has good girl game dating should be no problem even taking more time. Chicken littleing about being 24 is absolutely insane.

Tell that to my 34 year old 6’2” physician bf. In all fairness, I know plenty of good men going after beautiful, fit 26-32 year olds to start families. Criticizing people behind their backs in a meanspirited or unwarranted way. Like, pointing out an unattractive person in the grocery store, or cutting his friends down. He'll turn it on you, it's just a matter of when. This is different from, "Yeah, Mike is really flakey. He's a good friend but he can be annoying." Folks on this sub overemphasize youth. Yeah, men think young women are hot, and I would say most tend to prefer slightly younger partners, but most guys do want someone vaguely age appropriate and interesting. The kind of 30 year olds who would go after 20 year olds are not the kind of guys I want to date (30 and 40 is a way different story), and I’m not short on options personally. The upside is that being young gives you a wider range of slightly to very older partners to choose from. You have…

Great points. I don’t think that question is disrespectful - we waited until about 7 dates then had sex. I had lost “eyes” for anyone and that’s why the strong chemistry knocked me off guard at the wedding. They’re not the most prestigious but losing respect is a pretty strong statement. And what about MPH, MFT, and RN degrees? They all lead to fulfilling, stable careers. The more prestigious the better, but I don’t think either extreme end of the spectrum is necessarily the answer here.

Moot point - your friend was taken, the whole thing was shady from the get go. Also, I wouldn’t personally want a guy who would mess around with a taken girl anyway, call me picky. Part of my vetting process for RMV is integrity, and this would immediately lower a man’s value in my eyes. But I digress... In general, I would absolutely not ever EVER “compete” with a friend of mine or betray her over a man. If we are all single and the chips fall such that the guy likes me more, my friends have go…

Also, of course men are incredibly attracted to 21 year olds, but many men actually, honestly, would not consider women of that age for marriage prospects, especially in some educated academic circles. So, if your pool of women is actually more like 25-32, having a nice degree or a business accomplishment is only a bonus and helps someone stand out. So yeah, it doesn’t make sense to lead with accomplishments, but some men do actually respect/desire them. I feel like people posting on this sub co…

You sound super negative. Maybe you’d make more female friends if you weren’t so antagonistic and judgmental? I know plenty of women who are fun, don’t like to gossip, and have cool interests.

I have another take, as someone who has coped with similar issues in the past and come out much healthier on the other side: what kind of men are you choosing? My guess is that in your current state, your anxious tendencies draw you to avoidant men, creating a pursuer-distancer cycle. That’s where the anxious partner over compensates to gather reassurance, while the avoidant partner gets an ego stroke that the anxious one will never leave while simultaneously finding the behavior annoying. The d…

Porn and orgasm create an incredibly strong dopaminergic reward cycle in the brain, in the same way drugs, food, and gambling can. Young men are being treated for ED at much higher rates. Heavy porn use (of course some is fine) is problematic, and no, it’s not always women’s fault. Further, the brain undergoes “neural pruning” at around the age of 11-13, in which connections that are more strongly reinforced remain while others are “pruned” away to create processing efficiency. For example, lear…

Right, I also think men on the older side might be more open to this, as women around their own age are more likely to have children or ex husbands already. OP, you sound like a super sweet person. Keep doing your best!

This is a lot of unsupported generalization. Um, yes, we always retain sovereignty over our bodies, and women should always maintain the option/ability to provide for themselves if need be. This post rubs me the wrong way; captain first mate dynamic is a choice which is what makes the lifestyle wonderful.

30 year old beautiful doctors are an amazing catch for high value men (think surgeons, like my uncle, who married an obstetrician). You can always go the GP or dermatology route so you enjoy work? Don’t think your job will preclude your entire family life, that seems like really extreme thinking. Chill and remember life after residency will be a lot different.

100% agreed. As people have said, you can’t unring a bell. So what are you supposed to do, give up? No! Continually improve, self-reflect, and put energy into a good man with this knowledge. Personally, my n-count doesn’t even really get asked about very often? Although I’m almost 30 and live in the most liberal pocket in the country, so men seem surprised I don’t put out on the first few dates...

This seems like a giant red flag with "NO" painted on it, for a few reasons. Vetting mistake. Move on IMO. Just the baggage in and of itself wouldn't be a big deal if he was handling it well. He's not. Why are you taking on a caregiving role with his young child after only a few months of dating, when this kid already seems to have an unstable situation? Bad judgment/parenting on his part, in my opinion. Why does he have meltdowns all the time? Is he unstable? This may explain why he attracted t…

This seems like the best advice in this thread. Of course losing weight is a good idea, but OP might be putting herself in this carrot on a stick situation for a very long time, which isn't fair to her regardless. 2 years is way too long to be stashed.

Honestly, from the comments it seems like the issues are at least fair to bring up. Submissive or not, people should be able to communicate to some degree. Sounds like these two may have different attachment styles which can take some work to navigate through.

Yeah it’s like... what does a 39 year old have in common with a 22 year old? I know when I was that age I didn’t have any male friends that age who had only platonic intentions. You’re not being paranoid, it’s sketchy

Awesome! Thank you for sharing. One of my ultimate life goals is living in true integrity, so that my actions/expression fully line up with my internal beliefs. It’s a process but creates space for authentic connection that can’t be faked or forced otherwise.

Right. I’ve been pleasantly surprised to find that most men I’ve been seeing in the 30-34 range bring up kids/settle down city/marriage within the first few dates. It’s honestly weird at this age to balk at that topic, regardless of views. Just possible dealbreaker stuff to get out of the way.

I just finished Why Men Love Bitches and this whole thread reminds me of it. You never want to be rude, just pull back when he stops chasing rather than nagging or putting in extra effort he isn’t reciprocating (babe in total control of herself). Still curious how some of those ideas gel with RPW. I am assuming there is a good balance in there.

Eat smaller portions and/or order side salads for yourself? Prep food you can quick roast/bake (like have chicken breasts marinating, season veggies, put it in baking pans) or make protein & grain-centric salads you can slap together for yourself before grabbing food out with him. I think he should be able to understand if you want to stop sharing orders.

I can't stress sun screen enough. Make sure you use something with titanium or zinc oxide (physical blockers), always check the expiration date, and don't leave it in the sun. At ~21 I had accumulated a ton of damage from trying to tan my fair skin, so I started using lactic acid peels (makeupartistschoice.com; not "natural" but amazing and inexpensive) and getting crazy about sun protection.
