Feminism doesn't free men from gender roles as feminists claim. It just boxes them into other roles. They don't want to destroy gender roles, but reshape them so they benefit from them.

Many men end up in r/menslib because they were told any other subreddit is misogynistic, right-wing, etc.

I kind of agree with this take. Studying privilege solely through identities is an awful idea, since it ignores other factors (e.g economic status). However, realizing some forms of discrimination are only targeted to a specific identity is quite important when analyzing privilege. Some identities (black people) face specific types of discrimination that are not faced by other identities (white people). Thus, claiming that white people are privileged is non-sense, but acknowledging they are free…

One reason is because most MRAs/LWMAs are also anti-feminists and most centre people see anti-feminism as misogyny. I'm not saying we should stop being anti-feminists, but rather explaining another reason some people have negative views about MRAs.

There's a huge difference between mocking someone and sharing information of someone. You're describing a double-standard. It's not right that women would murder a man if he shared that information. No one should be murdered for sharing such information.

No, I would not. My sex life would be her sex life too, since we'd have sex. She's free to share her sex life with her friends. Yes, some things are too personal (e.g credit card number), but none of the things you mentioned are too personal.

This might unpopular, but I think everyone has the right to tell anything they want to whoever they want to, including details from their relationship. This goes for men and women.

This is such an interesting take. What do you think about women marry/couple, but don't have kids? Does this theory still hold up? I ask this since it seems contradictory that women run away from men to ensure they procreate with the best men if they won't even have children.

You can't make any more effort with the way you think. If you truly cared about men's issues and knew about them, you'd already know that logic (men's issues are rooted in toxic masculinity) is incorrect. Please explain how routinary circumcision is toxic masculinity, I can't wait for the mental gymnastics you'll do. By the way, most MRAs complain about misandry, not ToXiC MasCuLInITy.

I don't even get the "fragile male ego" thing when it comes to women not orgasming, since It has nothing to do with the fact they're male. I think most men feel insecure when their partner doesn't orgasm because they care about their partner's pleasure, not because they have a "fragile male ego". If anything, they feel less of a person, not less of a man. I've never had sex, but I'd certainly feel like a failure if my partner didn't orgasm. It's a paradox. If they acknowledge misandry then they're not true feminists and thus not real leftists (according to them). If they don't acknowledge misandry then they're denying a kind of oppression many minority groups go through, therefore they're not real leftists (reality). The only valid conclusion: Modern feminism is a religion, not a progressive movement.

Men won't stop being competitive if our society rely on competition to function. Men won't stop producing violence if our society expects violence to be produced. What you're missing is that feminism is a tool in the hands of the oligarchy to distract us with identity politics, instead of uniting against the greater inequalities of class. Even though I'm not a huge fan of feminism, this sounds like a conspiracy theory. I think feminism originally was a women's rights movement, but then it became tribalistic and went too far.

Toxic masculinity very much exists, as does misandry. Just wanted to get it out there that I believe that before going in. Please define toxic masculinity, we've heard that term so many times, in so many different contexts, that it's hard to know what you're referring to. The men in question feel insecure because they've been socialized with the idea that they must be the ones who provide. The people I know wouldn't want to date someone they weren't friends with I've seen plenty of people going to dates with people they hadn't stablished a friendship with first. Anyway, I don't think that's what people (men) mean by the term friendzone. In my experience, it's used to describe situations where a guy and a girl are friends, the guy crushes on the girl, but the feeling isn't reciprocate. These situations are pretty common.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/03/22 05:46 AM
3

And yet they complain when people don't emphasize enough women's oppression
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/03/22 10:08 PM
9

All these distoritions can be abstracted into one single phenomenon: men bad, women good. People don't have empathy for men, period.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/03/22 10:04 PM
2

We should automatically validate their frustration regarding these situations, right? No, we shouldn't. There are guys who follow women to their homes when they've been told no already. I don't think categorizing this behavior as creepy is subjective at all. Some women calling a guy creep just because he's ugly or awkward is definitely a thing. However, saying whenever a woman expresses frustration at creepy men it's simply because they don't find the guy attractive is ridiculous.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/02/22 05:58 AM

All feminists agree with this entirely. Really? That's cool, it's nice to know more people agree with us!
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/02/22 01:49 AM
3

Well, I guess you're doing an unfair generalization here then. I know of the women you're referring to, but not all women who complain about creepy guys do it because of what you say. Some say it because the guy in question truly has a creepy behavior. I've been called a creep simply because I was sitting alone, it really got me mad and I thought all women called creepy the men they didn't like. But after listening to experiences of some of my female friends, I realized sometimes women expressin…

I've tried this a couple of times, it however didn't work out as I'd expected: A: Look at that loser, he's a virgin! B: What's wrong with being a virgin? You shouldn't judge people based on whether they've already had sex or not. A: Are you a virgin too?! Look guys he's a virgin too Apparently, standing up against virgin-shaming makes you a virgin, because only a virgin would get offended by that sort of joke.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/02/22 11:32 PM

Even if women approached men as well, there'd still be creepy men (and creepy women also), therefore women would be completely justified to express frustration. I'm not saying what you propose wouldn't solve anything, I'm just saying it wouldn't solve everything.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/02/22 11:22 PM
9

But you also need to acknowledge that there some guys that have an actual creepy behavior, and usually don't take "no" for an answer. Trust me, I do get your point, but women are completely justified to express frustration about unwanted attention.

I agree with this tweet. She isn't saying "all men", she's referring to the men that think the way she's describing. Some men do expect their wives to contribute 50% of the household income AND do most of the housework. She's simply saying that they shouldn't think that way, and also split the the house chores. She isn't saying that fathers don't contribute, she's simply calling out the men with this mentality.

I don't think so, the average radfem would dismiss this statistic by claiming women attempt suicide more often and men's higher suicide rate is due to them being more violent. To be fair, one has to do their own research to realize feminism has done more harm than good. Most self-identified feminists identify as such because they have the "feminism means equality" definition of feminism. So, for example, I wouldn't judge a person for identifying themselves as a feminist, but I certainly would if they were active members in, let's say r/AskFeminists or r/fourthwavewomen.

Yes, considering severity is important, but that wouldn't result on gendered discourse and policies as the ones we have now. A perpetrator can use objects that can cause more damage to their victim than they would if they used physical force instead. Whether or not this is possible isn't determined by the perpetrator's gender, therefore severity isn't determined by perpetrator's gender either. A stab is a stab, it doesn't matter if it comes from a woman or a man.

When all traits that are seen as positive are not seen as masculinity. Then yes. What we are seeing is an attack on masculinity. and not just the "toxic" aspects The same people who attack toxic masculinity are the same ones who say things like "gender is a social construct" (which is true). To these people, no positive trait is masculine and every positive trait that isn't feminine are neutral (this is totally fine, since associating traits and characteristics to a specific gender is pointless)…

3) It is only recently that men have realized they can be a rape victim of a woman because people (like us) have been challenging the narrative. A significant amount of men still don't know they can be raped. Most of the time, their rape experience becomes a sex story about a dominant girl.

It's another term used to harm men. I know its original meaning, but people use it differently nowadays. I know of some guys who've been called simps just because they defended/respected in some situation. If you're a man and stand up against misogyny (a completely fine thing to do) you'll get called a simp. I know you didn't mean that when you used it, but I think you do more harm than good by using it. "Men in need of female approval" would've been a more acceptable term in my opinion.

Being in that sub tends to get you banned from r/Feminism That happens because most people know FDS is sexist. Hot take: kink shaming is often an excuse some people use to justify their crazyness. I think a huge problem in the BSDM community is the concept of kink shaming. The fact that this concept has a negative connotation stops really crazy kinks of being critiziced. Well, it makes sense. Whenever a woman beats a man, it's because she was coerced by patriarchy to do so, we call this internalized misogyny. Women don't have agency over their actions. On the other hand, whenever a man beats a woman, it's because that was his personal decision, we refer to this as toxic masculinity. Men have not only agency over their personal actions, but over men's as a whole. Men bad, women good /sarcasm

All male problems would be blamed on patriarchy and toxic masculinity. That's amazing. If all male problems are rooted on patriarchy then we have one more reason to try to solve them. Because, at the end of the day, we all want to smash the patriarchy, don't we? ;)

The other irony is that feminists will also respond with "You can't judge a whole movement based upon the actions of individual members" Which is funny given how many feminists will outright call out ALL men for the actions of the few... The irony goes even further: When you complain about their unfair and sexist generalizations they'll say you're part of the problem, but when you judge their whole movement based on a significant part of its members they'll call you ignorant and misogynistic. If…

Yes, I am and won't justify those women's actions. I meant the idea of women being able to vote when they weren't allowed is egalitarian. Regardless of the actions of the members of such movement, first-wave feminism was neccesary.

This idea that it was second wave feminism that turned the movement against men as a gender is a myth. Feminism was never actually egalitarian. It was always misandrist. Don't you think the suffragettes were egalitarian?

Your own data says they have contact with Frontline services. Including the penal system. Your own data says roughly half have contact with mental health services. I would not find that congruent with "men DO go to therapy before comitting suicide". Well if you only consider going to therapy to be going to a mental health specialist, then yes, few men go to therapy. However, I think it has more to do with the fact that mental therapy isn't affordable for all men than with toxic masculinity. Your…

Women shouldn't feel pressured into just being baby machines. They should feel supported if they just want to pursue a career. They shouldn't have to deal with sexual harassment. They shouldn't have to feel dimished just because of their sex/gender. I would say that the decent thing to do is to help women out when they're in trouble. The justice system should be better. I agree with all of this. You're equating supporting women with (modern) feminism, which is wrong. To me, feminism is more of a…

but when the same language was used on men in general they all of a sudden became cool with it. That's due to modern identity politics. They don't acknowledge multiple cases of oppression against certain groups, because they don't consider those groups to be oppressed. To them, you're not an individual, but a member of a group. This's why they don't acknowledge oppression or sexism against individual men, because to them men are always perpetrators and never victims. Modern identity politics is …

It's kind of funny, but the reason I ask is that when I have expressed reservations with the way women treat me, it's often repackaged to me as "she's acting like a man." You know what's even funnier? That comments like "she's acting like a man" are sexist because they imply being a man is a specific set of traits and behaviors. "Acting like a man" implies there's a man stereotype, which is sexist. Like the only way women can act poorly is if she's acting like a man. If she's being a decent huma…

It's men that have determined that virginity in a woman is of value Interesting thought, I'd say it's society as a whole (men and women). Women don't care half as much as men about that. Well, in my experience all virgin haha jokes I've heard have come from women and I've met plenty of women that care about that at some extent. I've heard some virgin jokes coming from men, but those are almost always in a satirical tone.

The most disgusting part of all this is that most women won't even acknowledge body shaming from women against men, and will attribute it to toxic masculinity. A: I hate the way society shames men for having a small dick. B: Society? I guess you mean men. Dick size is used by men to put down other men. No woman cares about dick size. Y'know, it's just more toxic masculinity. A: Oh... B: Hahaha, look at that guy, such a small dick energy

But in general there's more male privilege than female privilege Could you elaborate on this? How do you measure privilege if it's situational? Also, I think you're missing what male privilege theory actually preaches: Males are privilege and women are oppressed. Male privilege theory doesn't acknowledge female privilege, those situations where women are in advantage are categorized as side effects of male privilege Of course, I think the vast majority of people in this subreddit acknowledge tha…

I'd also like to add that patriarchy theory and male privilege theory (both present on most modern feminist discourses) are really harmful. Thinking of society as a patriarchy, where males are privileged, implies men face no discrimination and that they're privileged in all situations, which is blatantly false (I hope I don't have to explain why this is false at this point). Many feminist use this idea of the patriarchy to shut down conversations about men's issues, by labelling men's issues as …

Exactly! The whole idea of feminism goes against everything the left proposes. Thinking about society as a patriarchy goes against marxism, and ignores all the other factors that produce oppresed-oppresor structures (race, sexuality, money, etc.). However, I wouldn't say feminism is rightism, the right wing hates feminism.

At leats, they now acknowledge the issues. Going "men are privilege, they don't face issues" to "men are privilege, they face issues that are side effects of their privilege" is progress. Trust in a couple of years (or decaded) it'll be "men face issues".

One feminist advocating for a quota doesn’t make the entire movement magically anti democratic One? I'd say 40% percent of feminists advocate for gender quotas, I may be wrong. Maybe we should just ignore the crazies and focus on actual constructive dialogue This is highly contradictory, how do you want us to focus on constructive dialogue without discussing something that negatively affects us?

Can you gave an equivalent (or not) example of them stifling democracy? Some feminists are asking for gender quotas in political positions, bacause the think of equality as equity, which is against democracy. Democracy is about equal opportunity, not about equal outcome, therefore gender quotas in politics are anti-democratic. The women’s vote movement was a massive boon for true democracy I agree

It depends on how you define patriarchy. If you define it as a set laws and policies that explicitly oppress women, it's evitable in a democratic society. If you define it as a set of societal norms, it may or may not be evitable, since it's really hard to shape society. Either way, I think both sexes are oppresed by this system and calling it a patriarchy is wrong.

I personally think thinking of society as a simple binary (men and women) is stupid. Oppression is much more complex than that and it's caused by multiple factors (more than just gender). The first flaw with this patriarchy idea is that it defines privilege as something you get by being part of a certain group, when in reality, privilege is situational. If you think of men as a privileged group, you're ignoring many other aspects (e.g economic status, race, etc.). The whole power of radfems is b…

I have no problem with saying men because it's used generally and doesn't include men who don't perpetuate those bad habits I think this is a dumb excuse some feminists use to be misandric. Even if they say they don't mean all men, they'll still think of men as a monolithic thing. They change the meaning of men to fit their narrative. By reading your comment, you seem to be against only radical feminism (So am I). You're thinking of feminism as a monolithic movement. I know that the vast majority of modern feminists are radical feminists, but not all of them. Some feminists do actually help women. You're thinking of feminism just as anti-MRMs think of MRM. Ok, so why do talk about feminism as if it were monolithic? Some feminists actually help women without thinking about men. Some feminists even support us male advocates without the victim-blaming. My point is: what you're referring to is radical feminism, a specific school of thought of feminism. Thinking "men bad, women good" is present in all feminism is just wrong.

The women who fought for the right to vote didn't think so, they knew the system was the oppresor, not men. Men bad, women good is patriarchy theory, which is a pillar of radical feminism.

This is clearly an example of misogyny, since it implies women aren't as capable as men of being soldiers. How dare you say it's discrimination against men? It's clearly a side effect of the patriarchy. Also, all those wars these men are sent to were caused by other men, therefore it's men harming other men. So basically, it doesn't fucking matter. By the way, women have it worse. /s
