Thank you for posting this. I've considered taking the Bookkeeper Business Launch course, but it sounds unnecessary given all the free and cheap resources you mentioned. I'm trying to earn extra income and would love to eventually be self employed, and this could be the way to do it!

A "man" I work with called my boss fat (not in exactly those words but the implication was clear. He asked her what size lab coat she needed and then laughed, saying a medium would be too tight across her shoulders). When his (male) supervisor was asked to address it, the supervisor's response was, "To play devil's advocate, he is kind of socially awkward and probably didn't realize how rude it sounded."

Feeling miserable, stressed, and on edge while the guys I dated would always seem content and in control. Ultimately I wanted more control of my dating life and I wanted it to be less stressful.

I didn't take it as you saying that the reaction should be to let him see an emotional reaction... I took it to mean that you are filled with self-righteous anger that propels you to leave.

I needed to see this tonight. I often get caught up in anger and bitterness, mainly toward myself, thinking about how much better things would have been if I wouldn't have let an LVM majorly mess up my life. But I learned my lesson and I'm committed to change, growth, and improvement. I forgive myself...but I will hold myself accountable and never make those mistakes again.

Yup. I'm a single mom now and I can tell you from experience it's WAY easier than being a married mom with a partner who doesn't contribute. I'm home with my 6 year old this week. I'm working remotely while guiding him through his day. It's not that bad. If my ex was still here this would a million times more stressful.

I went on a date with a doctor and he made me buy my own coffee. This was pre-FDS of course!

Yep. Left a financial abuser and now I'm looking at possibly being ordered by the divorce master to pay him $10,000 plus to settle our divorce. Will be relieved when it's all over. Hurts like hell to think of paying him that much money when I think of how much he's stolen from me. Whatever I end up owing him will be cheaper than staying married to him in the long run though. Protect yourself ladies...

Omg this made me laugh. I went on a date with a dude who was 26 and had a comb-over. Made me see him in a different light.

Can you imagine if the roles were reversed? You can be damn sure the wife wouldn't be wasting time posting on Reddit to get sympathy from strangers. Nah, she'd be holding down a job, making sure the bills got paid, making sure the house was taken care of, all while putting her focus not on herself but on being a loving mother and wife and being supportive to her husband. This shit pisses me off. I hope the best for that dear mama.

I have a weird/awkward one. Dinner went well so we decided to go to Dave and Busters after to play a few games. Once we ran out of tokens to play, we went to the shop to pick out prizes with our points. He got really possessive over the points and didn't let me get a thing. He kept referring to them as "his points" and "his prizes". I mean he picked out prizes down to the last point and didn't let me get a single thing. There were 100 pts left, and I pointed out a bouncy ball I liked, and he got…

That makes sense. Thanks for explaining the difference between when you put him on the back burner and when you just block. I think I'll implement that!

A guy I dated knew my ex husband had cheated on me. One time we were watching TV and he put on "Cheaters" and then laughed and said, "Is this what happened with you and your ex?" I looked him dead in the eye and said, "No, I cut him out of my life so fast his hair blew back. I didn't make a fool out of myself. If someone cheats on me, they're done." Broke up with him by text later that day.

I also think it's funny that they think single moms are upset over these guys not wanting to date them. Puh-lease. I'm only interested in dating men who 1. Are not idiots who make assumptions about me and think I'm looking for a new dad for my kid and 2. Think that children are a blessing.

I'm sorry this happened. I'm pretty sure my ex husband pulled something similar with his gf which is why he's with her now, not me. Lol. I will say this though, the girlfriend deserves to know that he's putting her health at risk!

Girl, he sucks. Get out now; he is not going to change. He's a douche and an abuser. I know exactly how you feel right now and I know how hard it is. Please trust me on this; I chose to ignore red flags like these and my life was destroyed and 9 years wasted by this man.

Trust your cat's opinion of them too. My calico, who I'm convinced is actually the friendliest cat in the entire world, walked out of the room when my ex husband came over to pick up some of his shit. He HATED cats. One of the first things I did when I kicked him out was adopt my kitty. She's a much better housemate!

Anyone have ideas on where to actually find friends like this? Maybe I'll start a meet up group in my area haha

I actually just made a post about this yesterday! So flaky! I think you've done the right thing by making other plans if they don't respond right away to confirm.

How does this work? Do you tell them they need to call you, or do you just ignore them if they text you? I'm guessing it's the latter, but I'm curious how you actually communicate this.

I feel like it's a way of keeping their options open as long as possible. That way if something else comes up, he can easily write back at any time to change the time at his convenience. I like your plan of setting a deadline! I think 24 hours from my last text is reasonable.

Wtf? This reminds me of a guy I met on Hinge. We chatted for about two weeks or so and then last week he asked if I want to "hang out" NEXT YEAR. I did not respond... Next! Dude can't make time for a single date before the new year? Come on!

So he kind of showed up to the date before me, grabbed his coffee and sat down, leaving me in a position to go buy my own. I was miffed, but I also thought maybe he has to avoid gold-diggers trying to date a doctor? Maybe that's a personal boundary for him? Idk

Thank you! So my general impression of him is that he's respectful but he's also not very experienced with women or very assertive. I mean, when he asked to pay for our third date, it was like he was asking to do me a favor! I think the not paying for the second date was totally on me; I was a bit aggressive I guess. Thanks so much :)

Thank you! I was actually offended he made me pay for a cup of coffee...
