Your list is about the same as mine! I also expect a man to have healthy and close relationships with the women in his family. How he treats his mother/sisters/grandmothers/aunts/nieces tells you a lot about how he views women.

I’m pretty flat chested. SO MANY men I’ve seen shirtless have more fat tissue on their chests than I do. HARD. PASS.

I have a friend who’s therapist tells her she needs to work on communication with her partner....the reason she’s in therapy? Her bf of 6 years told her she needs to work on herself because she’s the one causing problems in the relationship....the therapist is validating what her bf said and so she believes both of them over me 💀

The edits killed me. “It’s not always like this” “Don’t worry it’s been resolved” - those are classic abuse excuses 😔

I’m pretty sure I’ve reached the end of the anger phase, so there is light at the end of the tunnel. When I stopped dating men completely I felt at peace for the first time in my life. And motivated to push myself further - I had so much more energy to spend on ME. The anger was 10000% worth the outcome.

I understand your view. The part that gets me is that muscle gain is temporary, and the studios have access to dietitians and trainers who could have helped her gain visible muscle for the role. So to me it appears it was a choice by those working on/paying for the film to cast someone who fit beauty standards instead of fit the look of Wonder Woman.

I decided not to watch the Wonder Woman movies because of this. Gal Gadot is lovely, but she has barely-visible muscles. Comic book Wonder Woman was sexualized, but at least she looked strong!

You are strong, you just haven’t stepped into your power yet. I was in the same space as you in my early 20s - putting up with disrespect and low effort sex because I didn’t think I deserved more than that. One thing that helped me step into my power was taking a self defense class for women. I got to practice getting out of someone’s grip, how to defend against both knife and gun attacks, and how to get a man off of you if he tries to pin you down. Practicing those skills made me more confident…

Wow. My libido has dropped to almost nothing during the pandemic, and your comment made me realize that the artistic hobbies I have picked up during this time totally fulfill my need to create beautiful things. I’m curious what will happen when I have less free time for art and cooking, but the idea of being free from sexual desire permanently is very exciting.

And that’s exactly why you have to always be vetting. Lots of men gush over being a dad someday, but what is he doing now to prepare for the most important role of his life? Is he reading up on child development and psychology? Is he asking his family members/friends if he can babysit their kids to gain experience? Has he signed up for an infant CPR class? Has he seen a fertility specialist or OBGyn to learn about conception and pregnancy? If you’re thinking you’re only a few years off from havi…

Great post! I want to highlight one part that I think is an absolutely crucial step in vetting- When he interacts with other people’s children when they misbehave, how does he behave? Has he babysat nieces and nephews? I would suggest babysitting an infant and a toddler for at least a full week before you commit. Watching how he interacts with kids during family gatherings and parties is helpful, but you need to see how he reacts to the kid screaming about his imaginary friend getting a bigger s…

Your porn comment is so true! 😂 My kink is an attorney in a well tailored suit arguing women’s rights cases all day, then coming home to cook me dinner and massage my shoulders while he whispers “Dworkin and MacKinnon were right” into my ear.

I remember this happening on the Office and it was sold as a cute moment between Jim and Pam. If you know your partner truly wants something and is looking forward to the day it happens, you don’t taunt them about it and make it a joke. Playground bullies pull that bs.

You have to be willing to name your oppressor and men simply don’t want to do that. Everything men complain about are direct results of policies and assumptions MADE BY MEN. Maybe bring the topic up to your male friends and family members and talk about something meaningful for once, Aiden. HystEricAl, aGgresSive, irrAtiOnaL women figured out what to do to force change, I know your sUpeRior loGicAl brains can do it too. Incase that last line wasn’t completely obvious - /s

And cases of people dying from “accidental” asphyxiation. The defense is always “I didn’t realize they had passed out/died, that’s why I orgasmed before calling then cops”. You didn't say all men, but they assumed that's what you meant and went after you for their own assumption. Funny that you also didn't say some men, but they aren't willing to accept that may be what you meant instead. They clearly aren't thinking things through before attacking someone for their words, so a lack of empathy to match isn't too shocking.

Welcome! The negative press about this sub brought me here too, it’s beautiful how the hate is catalyzing the spread of FDS! I think FDS, and women with boundaries in general, are unpopular because it goes against the belief that women should be accommodating and nurturing partners. We are pressured to cede our standards to fit into that narrative because the worst thing a woman can be is single 🙄 When you start voicing your boundaries and sticking to them, only the people who are used to taking…

Dating men ruined my attraction to them too. My grandmother always tells me that the longer a woman is single the less interest she will have in dating. And she’s 100% right. The longer we are single from one man, the better we see their negative traits. The longer we are single from all men, the better we see how much collective negativity they were bringing into our lives. Rejecting that negativity before it has a chance to rear its head is incredibly freeing.

It’s difficult to identify because it’s mostly about their actions, like you said, the performative words mean nothing. For me, it’s mostly in how they choose to spend their free time. For example, I’m involved with a service group that helps women work their way out of poverty. If he isn’t doing something similar for a cause he cares about, it’s unlikely he will be an ally for the cause I care about.

I prefer the term “fuckzoned”to describe the position they put female friends in. If they’re angry about being our friend, they were only interested in sex with us, not building a relationship.

A man who is a true feminist ally is extremely rare. I realized this after close to 30 years of interacting with men at home/school/work/events/dating. After this realization about a year ago, I have been limiting my interactions with men and the stress in my life has drastically reduced. I will only date a man who unequivocally demonstrates that he is a radical feminist ally - knowing this is rare, I have embraced the fact that I likely won’t date ever again.

Radical feminism is not about free choice or rebranding patriarchy's most insidious expressions as individual issues. Radical feminism is about abolishing patriarchy and all other oppressive systems so that the concept of free choice could actually hold weight. Well said! Now can you package that into a cute little meme so that people will actually read it??

The response to women who have a lot of partners initially but realize casual sex isn’t fulfilling: Sorry wh—, your vagina is too loose to have any value now. Should have thought about your future husband before you explored your sexuality! The response to men who do the same: Wow, you’re so mature and enlightened for realizing sex with strangers isn’t fulfilling! Teach us your ways! What a joke

I wish men would think this notion through with those logical brains they love to brag about. If I kissed or slept with every guy I went on a first date with I would have statistically contracted an std and/or other communicable diseases. If they cared at all about their health and the health of their community, instead of solely caring about getting off, they would want everyone to properly vet their partners before getting physical.

Degradation is the name of the game with men like this. They believe if they aren’t degrading you, then they aren’t dominating you. I agree. I am seeing a lot of relationships form out of loneliness and boredom. We are all under stress (especially here in the U.S.) and desperate for normalcy, but this is literally the worst time to form emotional attachments and dating should be put on the back burner.

I think it depends on what your version of HV is. For me, one of the most important qualities is how he maintains his health. So I would be suspicious of a man willing to risk his health to go on dates with strangers right now, and probably wouldn’t consider that behavior high value. Health concerns aside, humans tend to bond with people that they experience stressful events with, so I’m not sure I would trust any feelings that develop while we are both under stress during COVID.

Thanks for sharing this! All of your advice is spot on, the only thing I would add is to also ask for a photo of their ID before you meet them in person. I’ve seen this advice before on FDS but want to repeat it because it may have saved my life a few years ago. Make sure their full name and photo are clear (the rest of the info isn’t as important). Before your date, send the photo to someone who is willing to be your safety check, and takes that role seriously. Also send them the address of whe…

Wow, I’m sorry you had that experience. Men can be so fucking heartless with their behavior, its almost like cheating is a sport for some of them. One of my exes was cheating throughout our entire relationship and I only found evidence because I was helping him look for something else. My intuition had been raging for a few years before that, but I ignored it because I lOvEd him and believed his words over his actions 🤦🏻‍♀️ Now I know to trust myself, I’m happy you do too 💕

It is cheating. They know it is. Men who argue that porn use in a relationship isn’t cheating know they are too obsessed with it to stop using. “If I’m faithful to you, why can’t I have this oNe tHinG?!?!?” 🤡🤡 Well, scrote, because that one thing is degrading to all women and part of an industry that profits from the abuse and trafficking of literal human beings. Nothing more needs to be said.

I opened up to my mom and a group of her friends (50s-60s) about the reality of dating for women my age (late 20s) and the deprived things so many men expect us to be into. My mom and friends were horrified and disgusted, and one even started crying when I showed her screen shots of what men have said to me. I didn't have the heart to tell them that a few of their sons sent similar texts to my friends.

To clarify, the smile is simply to disarm them. My words, tone of voice, squared body language, and steady eye contact tell them I'm serious. When my mentor said "You're going to have to play the game" that's what she meant - serve them a pinch of sugar before you force the medicine down. And I totally agree about laughing. In my experience, lvm LIVE for the validation of people laughing at their jokes, its pathetic.

Practice will make it second nature! I should have clarified, I don't mean to put on a sweet, smiling demeanor. I smile to make them receptive to what I'm saying, then I drop the blunt statement with unwavering eye contact. The smile is simply a disarming mechanism because they see "kind and available" in front of them so they're happy to listen.

"You're going to have to play the game a little bit, so be blunt with a smile, and always text two friends exactly what was said". This is the best advice I have received on how to deal with men who try to push boundaries. Tell them they are being inappropriate for the work place and that you won't accept being spoken to that way. The calm tone and smile are necessary because, in my experience, men tune out women who raise their voice or get visibly upset. I had to practice in the mirror a bit a…

I agree, I think some men truly do want to be at home and could be great in that role. BUT, if he claims he wants to maintain the house full-time when you're married, then he should be doing that for himself already. His place should be spotless and the meals he cooks should be highly nutritious. If he isn't doing that while he's single with very little responsibilities, he won't do it when children, aka stress and exhaustion, arrive.

"We both agreed getting married at a good time in our life would be the ideal and that we didn't want to wait long" - I hope this was just a summary of their discussion, because there was zero commitment in these words . I am a total nerd about this too! Having a PhD doesn't automatically make you a big deal, the number of terrible professors I have had along the way proved that to me lol. I believed I wasn't student material until I found the field I am passionate about. And in order to earn a high wage in my field, you have to have a graduate degree, the more degrees, the more money. Financial goals are my primary motivator.

Poor grammar, poor word choice, and his second sentence makes no sense...he was planning to make dinner but because cases are rising he doesn't want to go somewhere public?? I'm guessing he meant "planning to take you to dinner", so he definitely didn't proof read before hitting send.

That's a good thing to be focused on though!! Maybe I read too much into word choice, but "could you come over" instead of "would you like to" rubs me the wrong way too. That's not a polite way to ask someone a question 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm planning to pursue a doctorate in education, and you can bet your ass I will use that Dr. title any chance I get! I agree that this is a super important question. It tells me what he thinks is worth spending the majority of his life working on. Corporate attorney who defends inhumane labor practices? Hard pass. Civil rights attorney defending people who were fired based on discrimination? Tell me more! Exactly! When I started working out more seriously two "men" - who weren't even in my dating pool - told me not to get too muscular cause that's not attractive to men....... I don't remember if it was this documentary or another report on terrible modern birthing practices, but I remember one OB saying that prolonged "pushing" isn't required if you are relaxed and in the correct position (i.e. anything other than laying down). I've never wanted biological children, but this is one of the main reasons why I know I won't change my mind. If I had a daughter I would feel guilty for the rest of my life for bringing her into a world that literally hates her for what's between her legs, and will never give her the credit and respect she deserves. And it's not just men that hate women, women hate women too and its depressing.

You're right. They never bothered to learn to regulate their emotions, so they take out the anger on the thing they want but can't have. It's essentially a toddler temper tantrum in adult clothes (but not really adult because so many of them still have shit stained underwear).

I worry a lot about future generations too. I occasionally work with teenagers and am younger than most of their teachers, so if there's an opportunity they will ask about my dating life. I tell them I have high standards and list "doesn't watch porn" as one of my requirements. Its a taboo topic (in the US) but I think its important to normalize talking about the harm of porn, especially for young adults.

Your last comment is the TRUTH. If the only way someone can get off is by hurting someone else, they have a deep rooted psychological issue that requires professional help. The BDSM community was upset that the male lead from 50 Shades related his kinks to his childhood trauma. But if you ask me, that was the only believable thing about the story.

Honestly, I don't think much would change from how they act now. Their drive to have sex overcomes their disgust. My exes were all happy to have sex immediately after a workout or spending the whole day at the beach. If that's true, I think porn use is playing a role. Imagine you first discover porn at 12 years old and for the next 10 years you get off to videos of men being used for your pleasure almost every day. How do you think you would view men at 22? Women in porn are being "celebrated" solely for their physical value and willingness to submit to men, not for their leadership qualities. I'm guessing men in these generations have a hard time separating porn women from the women they see around them, an…

I think its a combination of biology and sociology. My hypothesis is that women have evolved to be kind, less physically violent, more emotionally stable and attractive because men have selected for those traits. Historically, men (especially those with money) had much more choice in their partner and likely looked for the above traits because who wouldn't want those things in a wife? An unattractive, unstable, and violent woman would likely be shunned from the community, accused of witchcraft, …

I agree. Dr. Chapman defined Acts of Service as giving up your time to do things for your partner that you know your partner will like. Isn't that just being in a relationship in general? I wonder if romcom culture is partly to blame for this. We have been shown in TV and movies since childhood that every great love starts with a meet-cute, so now we pay a lot of attention to how couples met each other. Men with poor social skills see women fawning over these cute stories and think cold approaching women in every possible setting will create an opportunity for a meet-cute, and thus an easy in with a woman. It seems to be rooted in ego and fueled by competition once they hit puberty. I’m not surprised at all that men don’t open up emotionally to each other, I’d be afraid to be ridiculed too if my friends were like that.

For me, any compliment that puts me on a pedestal is a red flag. It’s either love bombing or disingenuous, especially if it’s early on in dating. And saying I’m unlike anyone he’s ever met before is obviously a lie. There are plenty of smart, funny, successful, gorgeous women in my city. If he hasn't met one yet, it’s probably because they are avoiding him 🙃

That’s the best part, isn’t it? Almost everything that men claim as oppression is oppression from other men. Instead of changing laws to improve the issues, they whine about their rights any time women’s rights (which women are actively working to improve across the globe) are brought up. Just another clear example that modern men expect women to take care of everything for them.

Congrats on 100k!! 👑💐 FDS was the final push to embrace my urge to remain single! I used to feel the pressure to couple up from friends and family and I simply don’t care anymore. Since finding FDS I have re-evaluated my career and financial goals, but most importantly I just feel lighter? It feels like the pressure to date is gone, I have so much more time to focus on myself. Came here to say a poorly worded version of this, but you nailed it. If he’s a HVM then he has high standards and is happy to invest in a date with a woman he is genuinely interested in, it’s really that simple. I expect any man I date to be just as picky as me.

I saw the comments on that post too, it’s interesting how upset they get after reading one or two posts from here! Multiple people compared FDS to MGTOW and incel subs, once again completely missing the point of this subreddit. And of course a few people fuming about the expectation that men pay for dates. I got a good chuckle out of reading their comments and went-my-own-way back to my morning routine. Don’t let the scrotums get you down!

When they are children their mothers are responsible for their behavior, when they are adults their wives and girlfriends are responsible. Men have given themselves the ultimate position in society: they are NEVER responsible for their behavior.

I completely agree. It was just a lame golf joke, but it’s also the reality for so many sexual encounters. Most men think their orgasm is the end of sex and are perfectly happy leaving their partner unsatisfied. Sex education needs to include the importance of sex being a mutually pleasurable experience, not just a reproductive act finishing with male ejaculation (that’s literally how it was taught to me).

Both handshakes and cheek kissing need to die, I hope COVID eliminates both. I don’t want anyone’s face that close to my face in a non intimate setting, especially not a man I don’t know at all. I eat about a pound of ribeye a week, usually split up into 3 or 4 servings. And from what I’ve read it’s important to eat the fat too, so I don’t trim it beyond what the butcher removes. I also make beef liver into a pate with grass fed heavy cream/butter, garlic, salt and thyme. And I drink 8oz of bone broth every other day, or use it as the base for soup. I wish OLD had never moved to the app model. Match and eHarmony made sense because people were genuinely looking for a partner. You had to answer a TON of questions and were matched based on compatibility Now it’s simply a numbers/dopamine response game and thus a huge waste of time for most people. The population would have collapsed if past generations completely stopped dating after college lol. I think meeting in person is more difficult now BECAUSE of OLD. I think playing little sex “games“ during foreplay can help mix things up. I think building anticipation can make any sex position feel 100x better because you’ve been waiting for it. Some examples: only allowed to kiss each other everywhere but the erogenous zones, makeout and caress him but he’s not allowed to put his hands on you (and vice versa) it’s like being tied up but more of a mental bondage because you’re restraining yourself, showering/taking a bath together, sending him dirty texts …

Before FaceTime was a thing I would call and ask how to fix something and he’d text me photos of him pointing to parts or tools I needed, or of him “fixing” the same item in his house. To me the “no wife privileges until marriage” means something a little different. I enjoy cooking and cleaning, but I will no longer do it for someone I wasn’t fully committed to (married). If a man I’m dating invites to me stay overnight or for a weekend, I will not cook for him and I won’t clean up if he cooks. It’s his house, those are his responsibilities. I need to see that he can take care of himself and his environment, and that he doesn’t expect me to do it for him when I’m in the house.…

Separate housing is my ideal situation too. I have an uncle who lives separate from his partner of 20+ years. I think it depends on what stage of life you’re in. While I wouldn’t do this myself, I understand why a lot of my female friends chose to cohabitate to reduce bills. Mostly it was when they were in school and only had part time jobs. Living with their bf in an apartment was cheaper than the dorms, which helped keep their loans to a minimum.

This Reminds me of the Christians who claim they are being oppressed in America. Nah, they’re just so used to having laws be based on their beliefs that they are panicking now that some of those laws are being challenged, and thus their beliefs are being questioned on a national level.

Does your city have an alumni chapter for your university? My alumni group does charity work together and occasionally there are potentials there. This one is weird, but hear me out. I am part of a women’s organization that consists of mostly women over 50. They love having a young member in the group (I’m late 20s), and a lot of them have sons or nephews around my age. Several of them have wanted to set me up but I‘m focused on my career right now. And even if you don’t get set up, it’s incredi…

First, it’s a mother‘s job to teach a boy to behave. That’s understandable, he’s a child. Then, it’s a teacher’s job to tell him to sit quietly while she’s reading to the class. Hmm the girls in the class figured that one out on their own, didn’t they? Then, it’s a girlfriend’s job to teach a young man the things his mother didn’t about consent and female anatomy. Hmm I thought he was an adult, he’s heard of google by now, right?? Then, it’s his wife’s job to show him how to fold the laundry and…

Ugh neither of those men deserved another chance. It seemed like Miranda somewhat settled for Steve because he was nice to her/the father of her child. Then he has the gall to cheat on a woman he didn’t deserve in the first place.

This just shows what so many of us already know: no matter her education or title, men will still see a woman as a piece of ass. This woman is an MD (or possibly PT) in her place of work and this scrote thought it was appropriate to hit on her 🤮

And the whole Sex and the City series. I recently rewatched it all and couldn’t believe how much libfem bs they were spewing. The worst was Carrie and Big’s situationship. He used her for years and only committed when the timing was right for him (and made a lame excuse to leave her at the altar on the movie).

Not OP, but yes! In my experience they claim to want an ambitious, independent and intelligent woman but once they realize I walk the walk rather than just talk the talk they run. For a woman who was treated so terribly, it’s incredible how strong she was. She raised her sons to be decent human beings who sincerely care about others, and it shows in their actions as husbands, fathers and philanthropists today. I think she would have loved FDS.

It’s the feeling of not giving a single f*ck and it’s the best! I was at the river last week in just my bikini and natural body hair. An older woman with her pre-teen granddaughter walked by and said “See her? You don’t have to change your body for anyone. If the girls at school mock you for shaving again tell them confident women don’t have to shave!” I felt so proud to be a role model for a young girl who is facing the pressure to conform.

So my dad does this whenever I ask for his help. I’ve always taken it as him enjoying knowing something I don’t. I am pretty well read and he gets angry when I know something he doesn’t and use my knowledge to win an argument. I chalk it up to the fragile male ego.

This isn’t a mistake! They want to make women feel guilty about their life choices, no matter what the choice is. It keeps us focused on living up to other people’s expectations for our lives instead of defining our own standards. Everything u/Ms_Tilly said is great advice! Forgiving yourself for past decisions is difficult but crucial to reaching a place of self-respect and love. I frequently have shameful thoughts and have found that correcting the thought by forgiving myself out loud works extremely well for me. He was always caring and attentive, even when my parents first met him as a young husband with no kids. I have 2 pieces of advice. First, take some time off before dating after your divorce. And by time, I mean a year at least. It sounds like you have valid reasons to be unhappy with your partner, but leveling up to attract a HVM is more than just changing your looks and clothes. You wouldn’t buy a new home that looks picturesque on the outside, but needs 100k worth of work on the inside. I don’t know your mental or emotional state, but if you’re currently in an unhappy/unhealthy relationship it’s…

This. If attention from random men on the street is what you desire, a few days a week of weightlifting, a nutritious diet and proper posture will do the trick. Most women don’t have visible muscle tone or carry themselves with confidence. Working on just these few things will make you stand out.

Completely agree with the second half of your comment. I never got hit on more than when I worked at Target wearing khakis and a loose red polo, no makeup, and my hair in a messy bun. The more effort I put into my looks, the less I am hit on in general, but the attention comes from higher value men.

I did something similar and he said “That doesn’t sound like me, I don’t behave that way”. Maybe not in your mind, but I literally just sent you evidence of your behavior 🙄

I had a guy tell me I was entitled, and then not long after ask me to make him something to eat.....it’s projection 100%. They don’t like that we have high standards and even higher self-esteem, so they try to make you feel bad about it to bring you to their level.

There is nothing more attractive than a man you isn’t intimated by a high value woman. I truly believe that you have to leave OLD to find men who aren’t afraid to approach a woman who loves and respects herself. Anyone can fake it on a profile or through a few hours of messaging. A truly HVM can spot you from across a crowded room, and if they are attracted to your energy, they will approach you with confidence.

I had a similar experience and I am just as grateful. I think it’s almost necessary to have a terrible experience with a LVM/NVM to truly understand the hurt they cause and the waste of time they are. My 5 year relationship taught me to vet future men like my life depended on it, and to never settle for anything less than what I want and deserve. You can read books and advice for years, but until you experience these men yourself, I don’t think you can ever really be prepared to walk away at the…

Me too. I have an uncle who has been with his partner for 25 years. Never married, separate houses, no children. They take weekend trips every month, volunteer together, take turns hosting dinner parties for their childfree friends. It’s the perfect set up, I hope to achieve something like it.

I agree. Not all mothers are skilled parents, but a man who disrespects his mother because she is offering too much? Telling her to shut up? That should have been a red flag from the start. If he can’t respectfully communicate with the longest standing female relationship in his life, he’s not going to respect any other woman going forward.

I had an ex do almost the exact same thing to me after 5 years together. But he waited 10 days to pull the breakup trigger, his exact words to explain were “I just needed to see you again”. 10 days of sex seemed to meet his “seeing me” quota 🙄 It hurt to go through it, but I think it freed me from the blinded by love, do anything to make it work type of young woman I was. I hope the woman in this post can learn the same lesson.

Yup, they hate that’s it’s not 1950 anymore. They don’t have the option to hold finances over women anymore, women can live independently and it ENRAGES them. They hate that women are finally respecting themselves and being selective in partner choice. Or on the flip side, that some women are sleeping with whoever they want, and these men are mad it’s not them.

There is a passage in Gaul Dines’ Pornland that addresses this issue in college aged men, but I think it applies to a lot of men under 35. “They...assume that other guys are ‘getting it,’ and conclude that something must be amiss with them or the women they are trying to hook up with. They worry they’re not good-looking enough, smooth enough, or masculine enough to score, and since the porn view of the world suggests that woman are constantly available, these men are bewildered by rejection. The…

I love this idea so much! It’s so important to celebrate your hard work and commitment to caring for yourself. I’m planning to have nude photos taken as a 30th birthday gift to myself. I have a little over a year to go, but it’s a great motivator to push me in the gym to get to exactly the physique I want by then.

Just to be clear, building my career hasn’t been a breeze for me either. I had to try and fail many times to find work that fulfilled me and paid the bills. But even in those failures I found lessons to learn from, and realized they are what made me exceptional at what I do today. Working on yourself will never have negative effects. And when you reach that career bliss you will look at other opportunities in life completely differently, including how a man fits into the world you’ve created for…

All true! Which is exactly why I’ve stopped dating 😂 I don’t see men my age behaving appropriately and treating women with respect. I do a lot of networking and social events through my job and charity work, and while these guys seem great in that setting, as soon as they get you alone on a date they regress to their true selves: entitled, uninteresting and porn sick. Maybe it’s because I live in a big city where status is everything, or maybe it’s because my generation thinks hook up culture is…

It seems the issue here is that the video is lumping all women who want the man to pay into the same category. In reality there are two groups: those who want to be spoiled and taken care of, and those who want a man to show he is respectful of her time and invested in getting to know her. For the second group, it has nothing to do with gender roles or the patriarchy - the woman is capable and willing to pay her own way in life. It’s simply proper etiquette and basic respect. Just like when I in…

I feel the same way. In high school I watched 3 different families get blown apart because one parent was unfaithful. At my first job out of college I had 2 colleagues admit to cheating on their partner with coworkers. And my first adult relationship ended when I found out he had been cheating for 4 years (there were red flags but I was young and blindly in love). When I was on OLD half the guys were married or newly divorced and looking for a young play thing 🤢 I have seen so few happy and heal…

It makes so much sense. Once their partner holds up a mirror and they don’t like what they see, they run for the hills and a new woman blind to their flaws. It’s so hard to find a man who is willing to work on their emotional self, rather than just their career and physique.

I’m having way less sex in my late 20s than I did 5 years ago. Men simply don’t know how to have sex, and I’m pretty sure porn is 100% to blame. Oh you want me to squat over your dick and bounce around like a seizing frog?? I already hit the gym today, gtfo of my bed with that kind of request 🙄

The 9:30 mark is where she starts dishing out the good advice. If we aren’t at our best why would we expect a man at his best to be interested? That is core message in this community. Focus on yourself and the HVM you are seeking will recognize you are on his level. I also like how she mentioned that looks shouldn’t be a top priority, a man’s VALUES are where his HVM status comes from. Of course I still want someone who is in good shape because I live an active lifestyle, but that’s something a …

My grandma is 89 years old. She married my grandfather at 24, after he initially courted her sister but was ultimately rejected by her. He had an affair and left my grandma for the other woman when my grandma was 45. My grandma has been single and living her best life ever since. She got a job with the department of defense and traveled everywhere she wanted to go. She held an annual Christmas party for the singles on her base every year. I have an inherent need to help and care for other people, which seems to be pretty common in women. If you’re the same way, I suggest volunteering once a week for a few hours. It will likely make you feel needed and appreciated, which I think is something a lot of people look for in relationships.

If they are truly looking for a partner, they will put some thought into how they describe themselves. If a guy can’t spend a few minutes writing about the topic he knows best (him), he’s not worth your time. The best vetting technique I can offer: at the bottom of your profile ask them to answer a silly question in their first message to you. Something like “Who’s your favorite super hero?” or “What’s your favorite snack food?” It shows they’ve actually read what you wrote and serves as an easy…

At this point I go on dates simply for the entertainment and to practice speaking to new people. When I started dating 5 years ago I was very reserved and couldn’t hold much of a conversation, let alone eye contact. Today I am more confident and able to jump into conversation anywhere, with anyone. This confidence has translated to being much more effective in job interviews, and led me to attend alumni networking events that I was terrified to go to a few years ago. I stopped looking at dating …

It’s frustrating because it would take 20-30 minutes tops for a man to include a skincare regimen and put time into his hair and outfit. Why is spending time on yourself considered feminine?? It’s literally just a form of self-respect and the desire to be taken seriously or to attract someone on your level. When I visited Scotland last year I noticed that the majority of the men dressed extremely well in classic styles with the right fit for their body. They had clearly put time into their appea…

I am so confused and disgusted by people who can live a contradictory life like your friend’s husband. But I also find I’m less and less surprised when I hear stories like this because I hear so many of them - amazing guy turns out to be the worst kind of scum. I am probably over jaded as well, but it’s so difficult to trust that men want anything more than sex.

We sound like dating twins! I dated a narcissist for the 5 years after high school, he was insanely smart and used that to manipulate my emotions. It took me the last few years to build myself back up and realize the kind of love I deserve. So happy you’ve reached this place too! And I feel so fortunate that I don’t want children. I will stay happily single for as long as it takes for a man of quality to come into my life.

Most of my friends have told me that I’m too picky and that I’ll never find someone who lives up to my expectations. A few years ago my mom told me about her sorority sister, Lori, who was similar to me and refused to date anyone who didn’t offer what she was looking for. All her friends talked about how she would never find someone. She waited until she was 30 (gasp!) to get married to a HVM who was everything she was looking for. Out of that group of friends, guess who is the only one still ma…
