And even then, you or your spouse (deceased) cannot draw on both records concurrently. It's one or the other. IANAL, but I handled my wife's estate. Tell your friend to relax. As an ex, she has "no standing." She can threaten all she wants, but she's entitled to nothing. Hopefully, his dad had a trust set up, which, unlike a will, is private and in most cases the estate won't go through probate. If the estate is probated and she's not in the will, she could make a claim as a creditor, but it would be highly unlikely to pass muster in probate court.

I was about your age. We were done having kids and pregnancy was a major health risk to my wife. I had a non-cancerous growth in one of my nuts and asked the doc to kill two birds with one stone.
