Just to go into this a little deeper, there is a hadith in the Islamic corpus that says 'Allah hates divorce'. A hadith is a quote attributed to Muhammad, confirmed by a chain a narration. These chains are graded for authenticity. This particular hadith is graded 'da'eef' (weak). However, da'eef is still a passing grade. I found that divorce is not particularly taboo in Islam, the way it would be for Roman Catholics or Orthodox Christians. All of my ex wife's sisters bar one were divorced.

Remembering the negatives and distraction. Whenever you start to get nostalgic, actively replace the thought with a memory of her that is negative. For distraction, have stuff going on in your life to keep your mind busy. Hanging out with friends, starting a new hobby, exercise or mentally engaging stuff like reading or learning a language are good ways to distract.

I think it was how she went from wife to lawyerspeak robot legal adversary overnight. All warmth, love and affection extinguished during sleep.

Thanks for your kind words, bro. Honestly, I'm not really sure of the reason she walked out myself. I never asked. One day we had a fight, she said she wanted a divorce, and I didn't argue. She'd threatened divorce many times before, and it always scared me to death. But that day I told myself if she says it this often, its clearly on her mind often, and I won't fight for somebody that doesn't want me. And she just never came back. In the subsequent weeks, I looked back over the last six months …

Thanks for your advice, man. Seeking validation Yes, this is my problem. I think if I'm truly honest, I'm pissed that she hasn't shown any sign of regret. Whenever I see her to pick up the kids, I don't want to look her in the eye or talk to her, but she is amicable as anything. And that really screws with my head. Just lately she is almost invariably in the gym when she calls to say goodnight to the kids, though her working out dropped off with me after our first kid. It's like she's signalling…

Things aren't true for women the way they're true for us. I bet you'll look back and think, it was really great at the start. Things fell apart along the way, then they started to get really bad towards the end . For her, when you got together she thought you were the man. For whatever reason, she decides it over, and now you've always been the arsehole. Evo-psych people say it's a built in way to rationalize busting up a family in order to procreate again with new genes and diversify her geneti…

Knowing her manipulative nature, I cannot see it as a good thing. It reeks of some kind of scheming. I've not exchanged a single word with my ex in-laws since the separation.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
