Omg WHY IS THIS SO TRUE? 😂
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy17/01/20 05:02 PM

Absolutely true. I was talking to a guy who was a potential date but now is kind of just an acquaintance, and he said that there is a huge difference for men between women who have sex early on in dating and those who don't. The first group gets compartmentalized into "women I'm fucking" vs. "women I'm dating". The way he logically explained it blew my mind! I definitely look at things differently now.

Also, I know you're a HVW, you know it, but does he? Well this just blew my damn mind. EXCELLENT POINT.

Truth! I divulged my abuse to a guy I dated. Then once during an argument he told me to go back to my ex and let him "slap me around." Never. Again.

He didn't really say "date". I should screenshot it lol. Not defending, just trying to be accurate! Screen shots.... Gahhhh ok. It seemed like he was just making conversation and threw that in to show interest/gauge my interest, but you ladies are probably right! 🤷🏼‍♀️ When I declined and told him that seemed like a hookup request and I wasn't about that, he agreed and said that he wanted to take things slow, get to know each other, date, and decide if it was going anywhere. It didn't seem disingenuous, but man, you can't be too cautious!

I agree with the above. I keep my kid free time pretty packed with dates and activities. I once had a guy from OLD text me for over a week, frequently, but took forever to pull the trigger. By the time he did, I was booked for the weekend but gave him alternate dates. He was alarmed at the fact that I would have the audacity to go on other dates, and told me he didn't want to "compete" with other guys. Ok, then don't. Buh bye!! I replied back and tried to explain my rationale for dating multiple…

I was married for 20 years. My ex had a new girlfriend within 3 months of our separation. YUP. Married for 14 yrs and mine was posting on FB the week I moved out, "Who wants to cuddle??" etc. Freaking puke! Sorry, girl. They are idiots.

honestly concerned me a bit. Not trying to be mean or anything, but that honestly sounds like sexual entitlement, which is harmful in the long term. Not trying to cause shit, but it sounds like an issue that should be addressed, nobody likes being rejected, but your wording sounds scarily close to some men I've seen and met For me, this applies to when I'm in a relationship, and it's a self esteem thing. It just makes me feel like crap and undesireable. It's purely a pride thing. But who knows, …

It's hard to believe I've been going on dates since July honestly! When it all started I told myself I was going to take things slow and learn. I just wanted to get a feel for what I wanted and what I didn't want. What a roller coaster that turned out to be! I think taking a break and reflecting is a great idea and I'm going to seriously try! I just get lonely when the kids are away, and (my therapist pointed out) I have a tendency to fill my free time with dating and going out etc, in order to …

Absolutely. I told myself I'd take the weekend to just decompress and let myself feel shit so I can come out stronger, but wouldn't you know it, one of the people I turned to for support let me down, and I got sucked into all this bullshit. I realized that a good partner will be a rock for me in a storm, and that's not at all what I got. I ended up soothing someone else's fee-fees instead. 😏 "If you want to take the island, you have to be willing to burn your boats." I feel like I'm at a point o…

That second paragraph made me cry, honestly! I absolutely have to take my power back. I'm 16 months out from a 15 year abusive relationship, and through therapy and reading and experience I'm trying to learn and accept that I'm worthy without fixing people and making everything ok. I feel like that whole scene was a nod to the old me who felt like she had to smooth things over and take whatever abuse came with the resolution. Thank you for saying this. ❤️

We've been dating for like 6 months - casually at first and then things got more serious. His "not having feelings" thing is a recent development, OR he just expressed it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ We've always had good chemistry and a great sex life - until now.

Totally agree with you! I knew how ridiculous I was being when I went back in. I was just so mad and needed control - I think it was my way of trying to get him to say SOMETHING, anything - you know? It was needy AF and I hated myself the whole time. I think that's part of why I'm so mad right now - because I wanted to talk and I got shut down and then stooped to that pick-me level.

He actually lied to me about how long they had been broken up when he started dating me, ugh. He said it had been like 4 months (they were together for a year) when it was actually less than 1. He said he was afraid that I wouldn't want to stick around if I knew. 😑

Agreed, thank you. This just feels so shitty. Part of me wants to dive into dating other people right away lol... But the other part just feels wounded. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah he can't ever talk about his feelings or what he wants. I hate it. So that limited WEIRD conversation we had last night was damn unsatisfying. I hate ending things like this because we truly do have a connection that I'll miss, but you know what? I'll eventually connect with someone else who will appreciate me a million times more.

Right? I also feel like I'm his little rehab center, and when he's well, he's going to spread his wings and probably fly on to another woman. 😑

Yesssss! I have learned a lot about getting too physical too early as well. I'm just done with all of this mess. I just want a decent guy who doesn't have red flags poking out of every orifice. 😑

you're choosing men/having men meet you that are "unavailable" in either their physical location, or their emotional location Totally, and the long distance ones are luckily very far in the past. I feel like an idiot for giving them the benefit of the doubt and putting out that much effort. NO MAN is freaked out over how much they like you and then ghosts. If they are "freaked out", they immediately will change their tune and try to court you. They don't ghost. Agree. It sounded like it could ha…

Check out attachment styles. I have "anxious" attachment in my relationships and I fight it like crazy. I'm working on it in therapy. I know a lot of it seems from the abusive relationship I was in for 15 years. I lost myself and in trying to remember how to get me back - and it's not through the validation of these idiot men. I'm better than that.

I'm desperately hoping to figure out and break this pattern. I have way too much to offer to continually put up with this time wasting BS!

Somewhat. I definitely understand that texting is false intimacy, etc. I am happy and confident in the fact that I don't consider either of these texting guys to really be relationship prospects or anything like that - they are strangers at this point after all. I literally just receive texts from them now and then, and reply back - but I'm not getting anything out if it. What I do find myself doing is occasionally wondering what it would be like to eventually meet them and wondering if we could…

I have been mindful of this for sure! He doesn't have any issues getting it up, and he doesn't seem to be interested in porn (to my knowledge of course).

Thank you! I do think he's a good guy. He's been really tired lately, and we did talk about how we've been staying up later lately - something I didn't even realize we were doing. We got a little hooked on You on Netflix - honest mistake! 😜 He's been a bit "emotionally constipated" in the past when I've brought up different things but we always seem to work through it. I appreciate your input!

Love this, thank you! I'm having some "me time" tonight and if he asks me over I'm going to politely decline and take some space for myself. I'm not going to stress over it, but rather just enjoy taking care of me and soaking in a hot bath, etc!

I've actually been working on this in therapy. I am currently dating, but I figured out that I had really lost myself throughout my last (abusive) relationship of 15 yrs. If anyone ever asks me about hobbies or what I like to do for fun, I don't know how to answer. So my therapist and I have been working on goals like, "attend a yoga class" etc. Just baby steps to get me out there and exploring what I might like to do. It's scary to me in a way, and very overwhelming, but it's worth it!

Of course this on Match... So many old dudes! I once zoomed in on a pic where the guy was shirtless (ew) because it looked odd, and I noticed he had a pacemaker. Jesus take the wheel!!

This is the classic cool girl trope. We behave like the 'cool girl', not asking for too much, or taking too much space, being super cool and laid back. And then we snap. No woman can keep that up, because no woman is really that woman. It's a myth. It's a fabrication. Omg yessss, I have done this exact thing. I was just going through some old texts today and the stuff I used to say and do is insane! Drop my plans? Sure! Bring you dinner? Of course, babe! Drive to your place every time? Totally! …

Right. I know it's weird. I tried to explain it but the precedent we had set was that we were honest about what we were doing, and we had both stopped using the apps for the most part, seeing as we spent most of our free time together. The lines been FWB and relationship definitely got blurred. We were content with each other, but then he would get wasted and stuff with the ex would come up, or he'd talk to other girls. (His roommate told me he never saw him bring anyone home or anything though.…

I wasn't referring just to you, I apologize! I just feel like I came here for support, knowing that I'm not a FDS pro, and I was surprised to see the negativity. No worries!

I feel that with FWB there is a continuum as far as how both parties behave. I received quite a few boyfriend benefits along the way as well. Neither of us wanted a relationship, but there are still dealbreakers I'm not willing to deal with.

So true! Ain't nobody got time fo that!! Tomorrow morning is going to suck... I know he won't remember anything, even me being there! I refuse to get into a discussion with him though. I'm going to text him in the AM and tell him to just leave my bag on the porch and hopefully it will be quick and painless. 🙄

Right! I will say that his dad had cancer for a long time so he knew it was going to happen, still a shock of course as far as timing. I work in a cancer clinic, so he probably figured I could relate, which I can. But regardless, we'll see how it goes and I'll be very cautious. We made plans to talk on the phone later tonight so I'll update after I get a feel for things!

My cynical cautious side totally gets this too! Our daily texting, for clarification, is basically things like, how was your day, maybe just sending an emoji, etc. Super super minimal. I actually told him that I appreciated how he still kept in touch even though we weren't able to see each other right away. I totally understand what you're saying, it just hasn't raised any flags for me at this point because we haven't been super mushy or romantic with each other. It's been just kind of keeping i…

I've thought of that as well. Definitely want to keep these things in mind to avoid false intimacy etc! He's actually in the field of social work so I would hope he'd have some insight into this too.

It was definitely a good date. He was very considerate and thoughtful, paid for everything, we had great conversation, etc. I did consider that maybe he was a little insecure because he hadn't been back on the dating scene for very long. I'm not too worried about it - I just don't want to OVER-compensate as a result!
