I’m really struggling with my weight. I lost my job during the pandemic and started grad school. I was a competitive weightlifter doing yoga 5 times a week and running 4 miles regularly. I’m 5’8 and was 155 (muscular so I was thin at that weight ). When the gym, yoga studio, and local park I ran at shut down and I lost my job I fell into a depression and just did nothing but eat crap. I started dating my boyfriend right before the pandemic and now I’m 185… I’ve gone up two pant sizes I lost comp…

He says a lot of what you are saying. The issue I have is marriage means the start of our family to me. He wants me to start splitting holidays with his family, but the way I see it is if I still have my last name I am still committed to my family. I want to be with him, but I can’t stay with someone past 2-3 years without a ring at my age. It would be irresponsible for me and my beliefs as I want a family within the next 4-5 years.

I agree completely and appreciate the harshness. I think his situation is complex as he has homosexual parents who grew up detesting traditional marriage as they were not allowed to be married, but he ended the conversation by saying “I see this is important to you though so we can get married” but still hasn’t specified a plan. He also fully provides for me at the moment and is a top notch guy truly. What would your advice be if you feel like sharing? Move on?
