Her asking for a piece of cake after she's been paying more than half of his bills for months (she didn't even consider a present) doesn't sound like pouting. She wanted the bare minimum, and he asked her to split the bill & used his daughter against her when she was disappointed. She moved into his house and she is paying over half of his bills. I get the impression he will still be there if she leaves, but he can't afford a slice of cake on 1 day? It sounds fishy.

Yeah I understand why people would say that she was TA here, even if it was extremely tacky of him to ask her to pay half rather then coming up with something novel. If you want something nice for your birthday and the other person can't afford it, then you can't manifest it into their bank account (or their desire to buy it, whichever is the real issue). On the other hand, this sounds more like a "last straw" type of post than a one-off complaint. Chances are there more than one aspect of their…

Please don't reach out to this woman or hope that she finds you. It is only going to give him more leverage over her. You will be doing her a disservice by reaching out or engaging with her in any way. Plenty of women are in these situations. Of the millions of women that are being taken advantage, the chances of this woman benefiting from your advice is the lowest of all of those women. You are probably focusing on her in particular because of your preoccupation with your ex and his wrongs agai…

Her brothers certainly do not and I'm pretty sure that the majority of men are too self-entitled to grasp the concept. There are some men that get it though. Most of the men in my family have stuck firmly on the side of my cousin and all of the other people in the family that needed people to side with them (even in questionable situations). Unfortunately 'family first' mentality and being a massive LVM are not mutually exclusive, because a lot of men that stick with their family will still scre…

What an incredibly kind, generous, and put together woman she is. I hope that therapy goes well for her and that she is able to find the internal validation that she needs. I am amazed that she handled that situation so well and did not have an interest in seeing the aftermath. Handing over the files that the ex stole was very smart, and I would have kept the phone to hear him complain about coming home to being homeless, unemployed, and having to move in with his likely now unemployed side piec…

My cousin was physically abused by her now-ex husband to the point that she ended up in the hospital and 2 of the "men" in my family said the same thing: we don't know his side of the story. I realized exactly what you said; I could not rely on them in a time of need. I was disgusted and told them what I thought. They stuck to it and I cut them out of my life. It was eight years ago and I still don't regret it. LVM drag everyone down. Your brothers should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. Fam…

I don't think that there are any hard-and-fast rules. The difference here is that you are dating someone that has faced the same societal challenges and expectations that you have as a woman. Fds rules still apply in terms of taking care of yourself, ensuring that the relationship brings value to you, and looking out for general red flags, but in terms of courting in a lesbian relationship it is probably better to ask if you are comfortable doing so.

Even if he can reason out how she acts "crazy," him saying so is a 🚩🚩 You don't want to be with someone that hasn't coped with their last relationship or was disrespectful to his partner, and calling her "crazy" it one of those two. If she had a diagnosed mental disorder, then he should not be calling her crazy. If she had symptoms of an undiagnosed mental disorder, then making those observations and then deciding that the relationship would not work because of those should be a straightforward …

You aren't being angry and unreasonable to someone that is being nice. In fact, I would not call him "passive" in the least, he's just learned that he does not have to do any mental labor around you. What you are describing is exhaustion and frustration over owning the vast majority of the mental labor that goes into managing every situation in which you are with this person. It sounds like you have been feeling drained by this person for a long time. You have a wealth of examples in everything …

Most of the suggestions that you are describing sound like aging, left over generational discourse and empty-headed good intentions. From as early as women can remember, we are taught to give men a chance a la "The Princess and the Frog" in the hopes that putting our time and effort into a man and trying to build attraction to him will result in a manifestation of some hidden value on his side. Our friends are pressured to further encourage us to overlook our own feelings and even major red flag…

Now it's your turn guys! Let's spitball some more ideas for things I won't do! Really, the audacity 😂😂 I hope someone dropped the bomb on him that there's nothing short of severe, assisted-care level physical disability that makes it impossible to do the bare minimum of cleaning the house, cooking, and watching kids. Well yes, at that point your stomach would have the right name, be in a parasitic relationship with you where you took care of the vast majority of everyday functions, and would whine occasionally in front of other people. If you could get your stomach a couple of temporary jobs, a bit of credit card debt, and made sure to acknowledge him as the Man of the House then I think you could pull this off!

So he obviously knows what he's doing. What a sicko. You can probably still report him even if you don't have evidence. He's probably done this to quite a few people, and if multiple people end up reporting that he has admitted to a particular crime then there's a chance that law enforcement can have enough of a case to at least investigate him. There are many instances of men talking about committing a violent crime over voice chat that have been successfully intercepted. I hope that you are fe…

His kid(s) probably spent their entire life watching him act like an infant, so I don't think she's out of line for wanting to help. Men that take initiative actively take part in daily maintenance of a home and family because they feel guilty otherwise. I also tried not to come off as overly critical. If he was so uninvolved that he didn't pick up anything in the decades that he spent with his wife cooking for him, then he was either competently working long hours every single day of their live…

Most of these men are brain rotted porn addicts as well. Either way if they change for the better in terms of promiscuity, they end up with the personalities of a wet cardboard box and a minimally functional internal reward center. So you end up with community dick attached to a lazy, slobby, unmotivated, dad bod. No thanks.

That is very understandable, and honestly it being awkward or emotionally reminiscent on either side is not the worst thing in the world. Often we give advice for women to "fake it until they make it" and flat-out ignore exes to avoid the emotionally exploitive tactics of LVM. You did the right thing by blocking contact and not trying to maintain be less than romantic relationship, so you are in a great position here. I'm not saying this to be cruel, but if he cannot perform the simple task a picking up a cookbook or watching a YouTube video with explicit instructions on assembling a simple meal, then he needs an occupational therapist more than a meal service. This is the sad effect of placing mental and physical labor and accountability for everyday tasks on women. Does she complain to management and have him 86'd from the premises entirely for permanent, worry free enjoyment? If only, sister. If you are trying to act a certain way around him then chances are he will sense that something is off which may lead to awkwardness. I'm so glad that you are okay and that you saw him trying to give you the drug the first time. are you afraid I'm going to wait until you pass out and do something to you? This type of telling on themselves is so common. You would think that the last thing he would want to talk about is spiking your drink and raping you if that was his intention. Spot-on. Unfortunately it's very easy to rationalize things early in the relationship which is why taking it slow is so incredibly important. Women often get into relationships that start out by benefiting them, but then slowly get loaded down with emotional labor in the form of communication, relationship dynamics, undo accountability, and actual physical labor (housework, cooking, raising kids, etc). Even a good relationship over time is highly likely to shift against you later due to societal…

Yes, as long as winning is having a happy, fulfilling life and it isn't defined as winning against men. The only way to win is to avoid putting mental energy towards men, what they think, how they act, and what they want in a relationship. Focus on bettering yourself and putting your energy towards you and the people that uplift you. If thinking about getting into a relationship is troubling, then don't date and instead cultivate you friendships and support network. If you date men while thinkin…

It sounds like you are working through a lot from your past. Congratulations on breaking your addiction and thank you for speaking out against lazy/abusive behavior from men. I think if you would reread the post, it was more about someone a man who was exceptional in a few areas. Always wearing cologne, keeping an impeccable house, and being in great shape are high value, but she wasn't using these traits to justify LV or abusive traits. Thank you for sharing your story. In spite of some people insisting that your post is "bare minimum," many newcomers to FDS assume that if you find an HVM you stick with him forever. High value is actually the bare minimum: thinking otherwise and assuming that once you find an HVM you stay together is probably the hardest pick me behavior to eliminate. A man being HV across the board is supposed to be the bare minimum, and it does not mean that the time is right, that you two have complimentary …

It is always sad when someone passes away. It's too bad that so many men tarnish their families memory of them with LV behavior. In other news, can you imagine if a morbidly obese woman with a body shape of a bowling ball proudly took on the name Big Kate? Men find a way to glorify extremely unhealthy behavior at the expensive of their lives and their family.

I have been surprised at the number of "success stories" where a woman said no to a coffee date (or worse, spelled out a decent dinner date for him) and he came back with a better suggestion. News flash: If your Barb the Builder efforts have to start on the very first romantic interaction between you and him, then it isn't going to get any better from there. This really speaks to how much men have to bring to the table in order to make a relationship worth it. There is a lot of risk that is specific to men and so that reward needs to be significant, tangible, and upfront to balance out the ratio.

We are taught that a slightly overweight middle class man baby that can't keep a house, isn't emotionally regulated, and/or fails in aspects of self hygiene is the best we can ever hope for so long as he has a job and isn't physically abusive. The fact that even our fantasies can barely scrape over the low bar of one of the scrotes also having superpowers or being generously wealthy says more about men than women.

Women have to be able to read men better as a self protection measure. It is a sad aspect of our society, and for most women it starts in childhood or as a young adult. We are warned about strange/suspicious men as children, and almost every woman you know has some sort of experience that backs that up. We do ourselves a disservice by acting like it is some sort of mystical "intuition," when the reality is that it is driven by experience. The only problem that I have with the "women always know"…

That's what I'm thinking. Who cares about whether he escalates or not? The story isn't about him, it's about the child that ran away fearing for her life. Yes, this relationship seems toxic and/or codependent. The supply of potential male gamer friends heavily outweighs the demand; why keep a rape apologist around? Of course female friends would be better, but this situation is like trying to figure out what to do with rotten produce. Yeah, having a garden would be great. Comparing sex on the third date to sex at 6 months is creating a false dilemma. If he is put off by investing 2-3 months of time into occasionally going on dates with a person just to find out that they aren't comfortable with a very particular sex act, then he's probably not a HVM. Your first paragraph is where it's at. Two months is a short game for an LVM, and you can absolutely have high value interactions with an LVM. It really depends - is that anger fueling productivity or more extensive vetting? Is it helping you empower other women? Or is it bringing you down and holding you back? Mine was the last, and I simply stopped caring. It took a while, but I basically let the anger happen, didn't focus on it, and let it drift away. The anger wasn't part of me, and I didn't even associate it with the past event: it was a separate entity, and I didn't even care about not caring about it. I just experienced the feel…

If by "normal" you mean something that should be expected by default, then no, it is not normal. It's common, but plenty of people (women and men) don't engage in oral sex. It's just something that some people are into, like any other extra-intercourse sex act - role playing, food play, erotic talk, etc etc. Like any of those, it's supporters are just very vocal unless they are otherwise preoccupied.

I've never had someone straight up ask for money but I remember one time some guy insisted that I needed a $150 impact driver and asked if we can go halfsies on it. "But I already have one... Do you need to borrow it?" "This one is better and it is cordless!" Yeah nah, I'm good. It was so unattractive. I can't imagine having so little self-respect that I would ask so when I'm dating to go in half on something I wanted.

Her parents found out about the relationship, his parents found out about the relationship, but nobody ever thought to question that a man over 30 years old impregnated a 17-year-old. Fantastic! People spend too much time thinking they need to justify why FDS works before they give it a go. All this stuff about biology and reproduction and evolution - it's good for deep thoughts -type discussion, but it's not really necessary. It works, and it makes sense. This may be unpopular but I'm going to say it: demisexual is just a made-up category to normalize sex with no emotional attachment. Wanting to have a monogamous, emotionally close, long-term relationship before sex is the norm. It's just not science though. There is no sound evidence to compare humans to any known species, even the species that are closest to us have wildly differing mating behaviors. Anytime there is an situation that invloves low income and high risk people, you will inevitably find misogyny, rape, and predatory behavior. I dated a guy for 3-4 months when I was 19. He was 23 and very sweet; he took me out, treated me well (his mom expected nothing but the utmost chivalry towards women he was dating, he said), and he seemed genuinely caring. His place was gross so I did not like being there, but we met up one day to chat. He got an IRC message from a girl asking if he wanted to hang out and he said no and that he wished she wouldn't ask anymore. I asked him about it and he seemed very frustrated that she was conti…

Most men in military/law enforcement are awful in romantic relationships. Military especially though - it's a misogynistic echo chamber that promotes infidelity/porn/drinking and holds family in very low regard. I can't say they are 100% all bad, but the numbers are staggering.

Sadly this post was based on a true story on an acquaintance's social media (friend from high school). I don't understand it either. When I was young I would get hung up on men, but I've certainly never wanted one back after they left. This woman has taken this guy back again and again (he proposed after she found out he cheated 6 years in) and 3 years later she's back on social media with the toxic relationship posts. It's so sad what society tries to condition us to put up with. The day that I…

I completely agree, and I have nothing but respect for PsyDs, clinical psychologists, social workers, etc. I always encourage friends who are looking for help to check the credentials of the people they look for. There are some flaky "counselors" out there however, and they don't seem to be able to self-distinguish. Then there are con artists, with seemingly no regulatory oversight to keep them from presenting as professional "life coaches."

Any time! When I was dating (especially OLD) this was a constant question. I found I could get a whole basket of red flags just by being direct and tuning into their responses. I'm in favor of telling men what I want, because it puts me in a position of power. If the name was originally "Resting Confident Face" then and wasn't used to criticize women then the post would be moot. But the original concept was a misogynistic stereotype to label anyone that didn't smile or demure a bitch. Any derivation of the term, thing or not, is built on the foundation of misogyny. That's a little misleading. Women perpetrate slighlty more reported domestic violence against men, which makes sense because of the number of straight couples living together. The other cases are homosexual men and men that are living together. If you look at all cases of domestic violence, the large majority is perpetrated by males (obviously). Domestic violence that ends in severe injury or murder is even more represented by male perpetrators. There's not really any debate over this.

Guns can be very effective for home defense situations. But in that situation you have a time advantage (they would need to gain entry and find you), and you have the knowledge that the other party has already committed a crime. They are less effective in ambiguous social situations (like ours) or during a physical assault when the assailant is at close range.

Excusing manipulative, petty behavior from men as 'the way guys communicate' is yet another societally enforced means of keeping women down. It is socially acceptable for men to lie, manipulate, gaslight, and stand over someone who is crying while they argue in an angry manner ("I'm really just hurt, but I don't express emotion like you do"). Then as the icing on the cake, women get accused of being the nagging, manipulative, petty person in the relationship. The perception of men that is taught…

If it was a strictly classist stereotype that wasn't meant to degrade women, then it would not have a female target. The 'elite' population degrades women just like those of us that had to pay our way, and downing those women for seeking an education doesn't make us better. A receding tide lowers all boats. No one is "not like the other girls" because they had to pay for college.

Sometimes you just meet somebody who could be your soul sister 😊 I founded a tech company as well. I worked side jobs to keep myself and my vendors paid until I started netting enough profit to consider it my full-time job just to avoid shitty LVM investors, and I ran myself ragged dealing with LVM employees until the company sold. I used to joke that I had fired too many tech guys to ever have to break up with one, and the "cold hard logic" guys were the absolute worst. No you're not logical, y…

This is why it's important to leave early on if you know that someone is watching porn. ASK, listen to their answer, and leave if it is a yes whether it's a "maybe" "not when I'm in a relationship" or "sometimes" yes.

It does get slightly better over time. As long as you keep your head up and don't coolgirl down to their level, you & the other women will eventually start to be surrounded by more successful, higher value male coworkers. FDS works for work as well. You'll still have to deal with blatant misogyny and having to work twice as hard, but at least you don't have to deal with the mouth breathers and hear them talk shit about the women they supposedly love all day.

Double check on software. I try not to dig specifically on software engineers, but it either attracts or ferments the worst of LVMs. Props for making it through that gauntlet of walking personality disorders. And good men hold themselves accountable. They aren't monsters among you, they are you. The holocaust won't happen when everyone realizes that they themselves could have been hitler, and men won't stop abusing women until men realize they they could have been (or perhaps have been) abusers.

They generalize women's presence here to the people that are trying to cope with trauma, and it's offensive on so many levels. I was lucky enough to escape trauma in my youth, but I'm still having to live in a society that excuses filth-for-men and places an excessive burden on women and excuses men's abuse. Even if I didn't have to deal with that, I'd know that the vast majority of my female friends experienced some level of abuse at a young age at the hands of men. That alone is enough to crea…

Women are conditioned to act like we are finding golden nuggets when we learn something new about men years into a relationship, but we are told that not spilling absolutely everything about ourselves (particularly with past relationships) is borderline betrayal. Society treats a woman's past like a carfax report, but we are not objects and this isn't a transfer of ownership. My husband knows the basics about me, and I don't feel any need to dig around and fill up a pitcher of fears, traumas, or…

Etc. Just stop. He should have been blocked after either his or your FIRST message. You (or his next victim) are just going to be on here in 6 months crying that your super HVM degraded seemingly out of nowhere. If he wanted to, then he would without you asking.

Exactly. And it's certainly ok to be angry for as long as it takes to reach inner peace. "Give me a chance, let's get back together." "No." "Why??" "Because you were abusive when you did x, y, z and I won't be with an abuser." "You said you forgave me!!!" That is not forgiveness; women can forgive and don't have to let toxic people into their life. I wrote more but it's probably its own post, "faux-giveness" is one of my pet peeves.

Forgiving something does not mean that you do not hold them accountable and then accepting them back into your life. It means that you recognize this abuse, be thankful that it happened early before his "pranks" escalate, completely remove him from your life, and then work on letting go of your rage and regret as you find someone else that appreciates you and cherishes what brings you happiness. Forgiving is a personal improvement; saying otherwise is a classic LVM abuse/gaslighting tactic.

This was so baked into language in the 80s/90s that I have to remind myself to think of it as a taboo expression, and I think this note is the first time for me that it soured someone's message without a reminder. I will spin this a different way: perhaps you recognize nature as a warning when you know deep down that things aren't right. Women are societally pressured into suppressing our recognition of red flags and dangerous behavior. Sometimes we know that things are off, but it takes our subconscious saying "Girl seriously..? This perpetuates the myth that women "let themselves go" physically just because they are married and that they need to keep up their appearance so that they can hop into another relationship if this one fails. It depends on what you mean by avoidant. Most women who consider themselves "avoidant" have absolutely nothing wrong with them and would rate in the 95th percentile of emotional closeness if they were a man. In case scrotes are trying to fool anyone: The vast majority of states are 30-90 days from filing, and cool off periods are rare. Filing is a very mentally/emotionally taxing process, and I can't imagine someone looking for a relationship in that time period. There are only 1-2 states with year-long cool off or finalization periods, and those are with minor children in the house. Virginia and LA come to mind.

You see a big difference in just 2-3 days if you start before the creases are deep. It keeps the muscles from forming the creases, so the sooner you catch the creases the more it works. Yes, this applies to all of them at one time or another; it is how men are raised. And remember that a lot of them rely on women to maintain their image: a lot of them have "close" female friends, doting moms, or even a wife or a girlfriend that they have manipulated into maintaining their facade. Even if they don't have those things, how many of them are saying things like "you are so much better than other women" or bragging about being creepily protective of daughters to make themselves look …

The most important thing is that you are recognizing yourself level up! This is hard work, and you should be proud. First of all, as obvious as It seems, you should address your insecurity over your looks. The best way I have found to do this is to spend time doing the things that make me proud of my appearance. Sometimes we have to use a little psychology to trick ourselves out of a major insecurity, and putting more time and effort into something utilizes "effort heuristic" or "effort justific…

First: totally agree in case when I say puts that in question. This is a staple of LVM communication. This is a hard one since it is usually a manipulation tactic, but it is used so often then it becomes commonplace. These kinds of things are ingrained in men's communication with women, and it can trip us up when we hear it from otherwise genuine people. There's a simple solution to this problem for men: be explicitly clear up front that your intention is to find a sex partner with the potential for a relationship. This will solve the problem: women who are looking for a sex partner with a secondary relationship if applicable will be much less focused on costly, non-sex time with you, and you will attract fewer women who's intentions are not aligned. "But I won't get any dates!!" And then we can all move on to the real root cause: no one wants y…

Or the guy intentionally exploits women with insecurities and desperate empathy. These men don't find "crazy women" to save, they find women to paint crazy so that they can confirm their own victim bias. Show me ONE WOMAN that was ever openly and happily saved by someone with a "savior complex" and that sustained no emotional baggage after the fact. I find it hard to believe that someone has a savior complex when they have never saved a soul in their life. That is a superiority complex.

You don't have to have a huge tank, it just makes it so much easier to maintain. Parameters fluctuate faster in smaller tanks and things can go bad quickly. Smaller tanks with saltwater also reduces your stocking options - freshwater has more smaller fish than saltwater does. My sister used to make really amazing jewelry. This comment is 100% spot on. No one is obligated to deal with the inferiority complex and anger that is almost guaranteed with men that don't have traits that are preferred by other men. Men are bullied incessantly by their narcissistic, insecure, "alpha" peers and then expect women to spend their lives as the targets of their resentment. Nah, don't want any of you guys. Seek therapy, and in the meantime I'll consider the 2% that made it through without brain damage.

I got a screen cap from a female friend of a guy that hit her up OLD profile. It was 2 paragraphs of flowery "sure can be hard to find someone with everything going on in adult life, and especially during these times" hurk-a-durk and generic compliments on her profile. I was like "aw, he sounds pretty nice so far, wonder if the grimace emoji she sent me was because he looks like a rat in a wife beater." Fast forward to the last paragraph: "How about we start with a random interesting fact about …

Self-doubt and blame are the cornerstones of a system that keeps women in bad relationships. How often do you see society punishing a male for wrongdoing versus scolding a women for not seeing red flags or "knowing better"? If I picture myself as an extension of that system when I put myself down, and it makes it a lot easier to turn around. It's humbling seeing all the women here in their 20s already living the ideals that some of us took well into our 30s, 40s, 50s to figure out. But the risin…

Is he high? He has to be high. This reads like a failed Turing Test. You came armed with the absolute basics of conscious human conversation and Fred the Furbie responded with some canned robot response because he/it figured out "I'm tired" and then glitched down some alternate path because its AI was trained on the internet & it found porn sites too soon.

You are right, this is gross and incredibly demeaning. He is actively demeaning and using you and you seem to recognize it. Why would you allow anyone into your life that would do this to another person? Surely you can think of a young woman that you would try to protect from this type of person. Stop sleeping with him. Stop talking to him. DO NOT GIVE HIM AN EXCUSE OR REASON. Please. Ask for help if you need to from a friend or a woman that you look up to. Once you are out of that, step back an…

Whatever the intent he's blatantly trying to make you insecure. The doubled down pressure he puts on you to doubt yourself is proof positive. Maybe he's insecure and gets his kicks on putting you down. Maybe he's full of himself and likes to see you squirm and put a lot of thought into him and his intent; he'd probably be giddy knowing that you took the time to type this out. Maybe he just doesn't like women. Maybe he's an abject failure in many facets of his life because in middle-age he still …

Thank you so much for sharing your story; you are incredibly resilient, conscientious, and driven. Unfortunately society puts us in a position where we are vulnerable to abusers, and when we can finally get out and start building again the abuse from the past makes us vulnerable to leeching narcissists. It's not a reflection of you or a personal weakness, and it's so incredibly common. You'll see it a lot on this and other womens' relationship forums - a woman who was in an abusive relationship …

The amount of time that you have spent analyzing these turds he's floated downstream without a second thought should be the biggest red flag of all. Sis, this guy isn't super intelligent, he's just patronizing and emotionally wearing. Oddly enough my biggest level up was deciding that I was no longer interested in being in a relationship and coming to grips with the fact that men & relationships with men always age like warm milk. I was well up the corporate ladder, no debt except the mortgage, and I had a lot of hobbies as well as a good social life, and so chances were a relationship would only be a set back. I would date occasionally, but I'd learned as a hard rule that men only get worse from the outset (even with a HVM) …

YES, 100% accurate and so well put. Most child-free men are to parenting what MGTOW is to dating. Men under the guise of making a personal lifestyle choice who are actually overly-obsessed, bitter, and hateful about OTHER people and their personal decisions. I've met many, many child-free men and two of them are not despicably hateful towards children or their mothers. Kids acting like kids? Shitty, hateful man-child makes everyone miserable. Completely agree. It implies that there is one standard of beauty, it objectifies women based on race, and the history of the word and it's application to women throughout history (the portrayal of "uncivilized," "exotic" women as sub human conquests) is incredibly toxic. Amazing outlook, and great advice for all! The less you see any LVM's behavior (in any aspect of your life, not just romantic relationships) as something impersonal, the more power you have. LVMs are like venomous snakes: toxic, lacking in self awareness, and always willing to lash out. They can be hard to spot, but once you do the best thing that you can do is just walk away. It's not personal, it's just their nature.

Glad to help, sister. Divorces can hard, and society puts women in a defensive, self-questioning, emotional position where we are fighting for the least we can get. But the reality is that after the relationship ends, the divorce is just the impersonal tying up of an unfortunate legal/business transaction. The more you rationalize it like that, and the more you think of your narcissistic, unhygienic ex as a sad product of his environment that acts as he does because he isn't capable of higher th…

Been there, and divorce is never easy. I divorced a LVM and now share about as successful a co-parenting relationship as can be expect. During my the divorce, LVM was lying, manipulative, and hateful. I did the same thing I'd been used to - call him out and fight back thinking I was defending myself. Years ago I dated a "looking for a chill woman" guy for a couple of weeks. He seemed to mean laid back rather than low standards chill so I gave him a chance. I guess I ended up being too chill - he said I was a little too aloof/unemotional for him and that he wanted to stop dating. Fair enough. I was already thinking of breaking it off since our career ambitions were very different and he seemed to have way too much time on his hands, so I agreed. It was completely civil, but in hindsight this …

Yes, doctors don't generally do this as there are a lot of long term side effects. I had to have the full set out because I had cancer, so I can't take HRT. It's not for everyone, but I wouldn't take it back. With a hysterectomy one can avoid the side effects and have no more periods, so it's a fair middle ground. It's a challenge to find a doctor to do it though since society places a lot more control on women than men.

YIKES. I truly hate to be a downer, but.. This relationship sounds exhausting, MAJOR hugs for dealing with this substandard human. This isn't IKEA, and you shouldn't have to build this guy before he's suitable for a relationship. Having to say that a person is "not being violent or abusive" is a HUGE red flag for a relationship that is neglectful at BEST in other ways. Team skepticism here. This made the cut for decent human, but treating young women (you know, the ones that are not his wife.. ) with kindness is not necessarily HV. I'm not sure that his wife would qualify him going to some young woman's home and the two of them setting up a bed as HV. This isn't a reflection of this particular male and his intent, but instead a reflection of male culture and the skepticism of young women that is necessitated by it.

You make a great point about the need to unlearn. There is self-work that needs to happen to build confidence and self respect, but that alone won't protect a woman. We have to put in the time and effort and burden of developing skepticism to the point that it is a passive, instinctual trait, because men have been trained that way from birth. There are entire books written about how to be appealing to men, and a common theme is that displaying "child like" innocence, trust, and naivety. We are t…

My current SO has a best friend from childhood. I was amazed the first time I saw them together. They hugged, were legitimately happy to see each other, and they were emotional and vulnerable around each other. It's continued through the years, and I've never heard SO say a bad word about his friend (ot even to his face, because this is the standard for men). "Be clear with communication please" "Be very careful about what you are going to say" "You need to read this" It's almost disturbing to read the way that narcissists systematically break down a person's self respect. They'll violate boundaries, test the water, and shift from "teaching mode" to drowning you in negativity (all the while accusing you of being negative) on a dime based on how they read you.
