Right. Because if there's one thing college kids are good at, it's following arbitrary campus guidelines.

Where are all of these beautiful women? I live in Los Angeles, and I don't see stuff like this on the daily.

I usually give them the benefit of the doubt the first time around. After all, shit happens. But thanks, man. Actually, we were supposed to hang out a few days later, and she did the same thing; I left after 10 minutes.

Perhaps. True in my experience, though.

If it's your place, you already have a huge advantage - Proximity. Just be sure to work your room into the conversation. "Hey, do you want to check out that CD / movie / game / internet video / rock collection I was telling you about? It's right in my room." From there, the windows open themselves.

Never too late. When I was in high school, there was this kid who I'd known for years but never talked to. We had a similar group of friends, but no real reason to speak. He was well-liked, but always had headphones in. I never knew why he was so quiet. About halfway though my senior year, I decided to ask him what he was listening to. As it turned out, it was this super-obscure Polish nu-jazz duo called Skalpel... One of my favorites at the time. This sparked a music talk that went on and off f…

This is great. I was watching a documentary on Robin Williams, and they were talking about how he got his start on Mork & Mindy, (where he played Mork, a lovable alien). At the time, it was standard for a sitcom to have two cameras running at all times; one for the person talking, and one for the person responding. The producers noticed that at any given moment, Robin was doing hilarious stuff in the background - Even when his character had no lines. He would play with props, smell things, make …

That might actually help. If you can go into a potentially awkward situation, and fail enough times to have the confidence to do it anyway, then you've benefited tenfold. Her saying yes is just a plus.

As someone who has been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, much of my life (in and out of game) has been a quest for some kind of balance. For obvious reasons, this article was great.

I totally agree with you there - Hence my post. It's an exercise in shedding that excuse.

I disagree. Saying that you have introverted tendencies isn't a cop-out for your behavior, it's an explanation as to why you may not enjoy the same kinds of immersive social activities as a "Natural". It's a symptom, not an excuse.

Start breaking the rules. I know it sounds counterintuitive, but when done subtly, it's super effective. For example, "I know the rule of thumb is to wait 2 days, but I've always hated that. Anyways, I'm going to this thing / eating at this place / seeing this movie tomorrow night. It would be great if you came."

Try not to generalize. You know that saying, "No matter how hot a girl is, there's some guy out there who's tired of her shit"? Inversely it can be looked at as "No matter how much of a bitch she seems, she's still a person". I feel like this group tends to oversimplify women by turning them into bitches (not all the time, but it's definitely a part of some game theory). This is largely due to the terrible self-image most newbies are bringing to the table. Remember, game is about peeling off the…

Congrats, dude! You're gonna hate what I'm about to say, but be yourself. To make this less vague, I mean to find ways to show her what you're like in ways she'll understand and relate to. If you're really worried about the "what to say" part, I found this website earlier this week and it's already helped me loads. It focuses on the general anatomy of a conversation and how to keep it flowing without going too far into bullshit. http://www.improveyoursocialskills.com/conversation Best of luck, b…

"Hey, I think you are a great guy and a good friend... because I don't know you..." Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig red flag. With a contradiction that strong in one sentence, this girl is hiding something. Nothing huge, but there's something she doesn't want to say. Odds are, she's just not into you. Not much you can do to change that now. Accept it, learn from it (this happens to all of us), and move on.

Seems to me like you should break the charade for a moment and be honest. A simple "I don't like the way you've been treating me" will do wonders.

You don't. Letting go of flakes will do several things for you. Increase your outcome independence. Set a standard of decency for the women you choose to approach. Show that you can take a hint. It's almost like when standing at a red light, and a passing car decides to honk as if to tell you not to cross the street. You already knew not to cross the goddamn street, otherwise you would have crossed it already. She's already decided not to cross. Don't honk your horn.

Stare inquisitively. When she finally decides to take them out to ask why you're staring... "Sorry, you just seem to be really into whatever you're listening to. Let me guess... Pokemon Theme Song?" The point is, take an interest in her music.

First and foremost, get off your phone and go talk to people. The best thing you can do yourself is to have developed bonds with her friends before she even gets there.

Seconded. I lost my virginity to one of my supervisors in high school. (Didn't plan it that way, just kinda happened. Also ensured that it stayed between us.)

Great report, misleading title. A failure leaves no room for recovery. Your story climaxed to a genuine exchange that left room for growth between you two. Failures don't do that.

One of the most valuable things I've learned in pickup (and life, for that matter) is that the world will not change for you. Sad, but true. But the anxiety often comes from the idea that there is no part of the world that can match up to your expectations. It might be that you're expecting too much too fast. Remember, the bitch shield is a strong one, but there's a reason we hack through it. Because once you do get to the center of that tootsie pop, you remember how much you fucking love chocol…

Depends on the dynamic. If it's just for fun, go with something you like. However, if it's specifically to escalate, put on something that's highly acclaimed, but REALLY boring. (The Director's Cut of Alien is a great example; it has all of those long, boring shots that only the director gave a shit about). Then you can apologize for it being boring by suggesting better alternatives. =]

For sex: Thin, but not famished. Pretty non-discriminant when it comes to race, just no hoodrats. For a LTR: All of the above, plus... Someone who probably didn't grow into their looks until after high school. These typically stay pretty longer and are a lot more grounded than chicks who have been hot their whole lives. I guess you know it when you find it.
