Can vouch for this. When I maintained eye contact and a smile for a couple of seconds on (by repeating "hold" in my head), the girl I approached loosened up and returned the smile, which gave me further confidence to continue the approach Thanks OP for an area to work on

Thanks OP, for the reminder to keep pushing in multiple facets at the same time. Like a few comments here, in my last relationship I had ended up relying on my gf for happiness / purpose in life. Whilst it was painful when she dumped me, I think it's for the better in the long run, now I'll spend time to work on myself

I'm also a beginner at this, but I would argue having only 10 minutes till your stop works to your advantage? There's plenty of time to get a conversation going but you have a definite exit (plan)
