Ugh yeah, you are right. Thank you for your kind words.

Thank you! I don’t have much of a relationship at all with her husband so I won’t be telling him but I also really need to rethink my friendship with her, obviously.

Why is it my responsibility to tell her to not cheat on her husband? Also, how could I have stopped her? Ultimately I can’t control the behavior of other adults, even if she is one of my best friends. The only responsibility I have now is to not tolerate that kind of behavior in my social life moving forward.

Genuinely thought he bought it for her at first and was confused as to why this was posted here, then re-read and proceeded to almost break my neck from the amount of head-shaking that ensued

I don’t find it productive or healing to judge women in these types of situations anymore. I just want them to learn what we’re all here to learn so that they can find the happiness they deserve. That being said, girl wtf 😂

This vaguely reminds me of that People’s Court clip posted on here a few weeks ago where the guy started freely giving money to his Uber customer, tried to make her his girlfriend, then when she wouldn’t sleep with him he tried to turn it back on her like she was a gold-digging $lut. These men don’t have much, but they DO have the audacity.

In grad school, I developed an unhealthy attachment to a married peer 10 years my senior. I have always been academically advanced and started my grad studies at 19 so our age gap was very apparent. Quickly developed a physical “relationship” with him where I was emotionally manipulated and coerced into degrading sexual acts - one-sided oral sex, public fondling, mutual masturbation, to name a few. Put myself in dangerous and questionable scenarios to gain his approval. Our friend group was four…

Oh! I meant the woman in the video. Do you know what text she is referencing/quoting in the video? At the beginning she’s like “this is a quote from xyz” but I can’t catch the name.

Ughhhh. Well, he wasn’t my “ex” but he was a “friend” I had a physically and emotionally intimate relationship with (aka a situationship, which my formerly Pickmeisha self will never repeat). Anyway.. one time after hooking up, he told me that it was a habit of his to bite the thigh of a woman he was intimate with, as a way to “claim” her. He said women liked this and even if they didn’t, he would do it anyway because “women need to be kept in line and told what to do.” 🤢 My reaction literally w…

Thanks for this. There’s a lot of truth to this in my experience. When I was younger (early 20s) and had less personal style, less confidence, and less conviction in my own sense of self, I would get hit on pretty regularly. Like, openly so, in pushy and obnoxiously rude ways. Being insecure, I thought this was something to feel proud of (breaking news: I was wrong lol). Now that I’m a little older and a little wiser, the interactions I have with men are SO different - very few men approach me i…

This!!! It’s absolutely dangerous messaging, especially for girls/young women who have never had an orgasm and don’t know what to expect. It says “your body isn’t actually worth the time and effort that goes into reaching this pinnacle of pleasure so why not just forget about that and focus on ‘having fun’”? I get that having an orgasm w a partner can be challenging but damn. We gotta raise our expectations and vehemently vet those who can’t hang.

Lmaooo and yet again, we witness the audacity of the pickmeisha logic. Would men willingly settle for a sexual relationship in which they actively disclose their lack of orgasm but still promote feeling FuLlFiLlEd?? Saying you can still have a fulfilling sex life with a partner who can’t make you orgasm is like saying you can still have a birthday party with no cake, no presents, no music, and no guests. Sure, it’s still your birthday, and sure, you can call it a party, but does it really feel l…

This was a very interesting read and thank you for sharing your thoughts on the subject. I relate to you on several points and have asked myself if I do the things I do to “keep up” my appearance as a way to fully please myself, or if I feel on another level that this upkeep is tied to the positive responses I get from both men and other women based on heteronormative constructs of beauty and attraction. I continue to realize that there is power in my femininity, and doing things like getting my…

I think it’s important to be discerning about this one. I don’t think there’s anything wrong at all with saying you eat a vegan or plant based diet and by itself is not a red flag at all. In fact for me and many others it’s a turn-on. But if they start getting overly moralistic about it or use it as a tool to shame or manipulate others in order to be perceived as more righteous then that’s a no-go.

This is the best definition of a HVM I’ve ever read on this sub. The idea of a HVM fitting into this canned identity of rich, six pack, etc etc is nice but it plays into some stereotypes so it’s great to see it explained this way. Thank you!

Agree 1000%. This follows in line with the concept that many, many men do not actually see women as autonomous beings in their own right, with boundaries and standards etc. So they don’t consider it inappropriate to do something like that because according to their logic, what’s the harm? This has happened to me too, and it sucks. One time I can distinctly remember was when I worked the swing shift at my old job and my colleague dropped me off back at home (we’d usually carpool since public tran…

Men get in their feeeeeelings when they know they can’t provide. It chips away at their self-esteem. Instead of doing the sensible and non-emotionally manipulative things that HVM would do - consider their earning potential, take consistent steps to earn more and become self-sufficient, learn new skills, be honest/transparent about their finances etc., LVM gaslight and manipulate their partners into thinking something is wrong with THEM for wanting a financially stable partner. How DARE a sensib…

HVM are fully participating in supporting their partners by doing their share of domestic work, providing emotional support, being honest, practicing good self-care, sticking to a healthy routine, etc. LVM are out here slanging dick to whatever LVW they can get their hands on, obsessing over porn, eating shitty food, wasting too much time on social media, and not showering. Lol I hate to say it but it’s true 🤷🏽‍♀️

My 2c as to why is because as women, collectively, we’ve been systemically programmed over literally thousands of years to deprioritize our own needs and comfort levels to that of our partners & children. I really feel like this is a critical time in human evolution where women are realizing and putting into practice that we DO deserve more, we DO deserve to champion our own preferences without guilt or remorse, and we DO serve a greater purpose than just being someone’s doormat. It’s hard work …

Lol exactly, after posting this I started thinking “well yeah, this IS amazing, but women do this type of thing for each other all the time”. Not to downplay how beautiful this moment is by any means, but I think part of it is that we’re so used to seeing LVM as “normal” that anything that differs from their negative patterns of behavior is seen as extraordinary.

Been thinking about this a lot recently since it’s the holidays and I’ve been around family. My mom is a recovering pick me. My dad has been emotionally and verbally abusive toward her and she finally got out, 30 years later. He calls her multiple times a week asking for reconciliation and she’s just like NOPE. You had your chance. I’m so proud of her and I feel like our relationship is that much stronger because of her decision to finally leave.

I’m going to have thanksgiving with his parents next week and we’re all supposed to talk about the specifics. I was told my name would be on the deed but we need to have a formal conversation. And no, I really don’t want to set myself up for a life of frustration financially :(

I should clarify, he’s a musician/producer and occasional actor. His working hours fluctuate a lot, sometimes it’s over 60 hours a week, sometimes it’s much less. Also, just because he’s “working” during that time doesn’t mean he’s getting paid. I don’t feel he is lazy but he just doesn’t care about anything that isn’t related to his musical pursuits, professionally speaking.
