Z got his (deceased) ex's mum a pair of earrings for the festive period, at my insistence. Why? Because it's less than £20, shipping is free and her daughter addressed her suicide note to Z.

Sounds difficult to do more, perhaps you should ask him, when he's calm, what he expects?

women's work Whether the gent views it as women's work is not in the post. What is, is that he views cooking as somebody else's work. So, maybe hiring a professional chef to cook for you/him once a week might be a good idea?

This. I want Cristiano Ronaldo, but he doesn't know I exist, and that's fine, as Z is an amazing partner.

• At the hospital, right after giving birth, I was shaking uncontrollably. I begged my husband: “Please put the baby down and cover me, I’m shaking.” He stood there looking at me and said: “No, I won’t.” I felt terrified and abandoned in one of the most vulnerable moments of my life. This is unconscionable. I showed my husband your post just for confirmation and he had choice words for your husband (and he rarely swears). I'll summarise and sanitise his words: You both are parents and the child …

I work at a hospital, husband works from the home office or the park outside. When I get home, I sometimes get out of my work clothes, into his favourite dress, do up my makeup and go to wherever he is with a glass of juice -- he likes starting his evening with a cold glass of orange juice without ice.

Your description how he says that dating you would hold him back, dreaming of taking over the world, ending a relationship over a phone call, mind thinking differently, etc. Maybe with said guidance, he can be a decent partner, but, said guidance should be given before you meet him and not by a partner.

Reads like he was on the spectrum to me. I'm married to a guy on the spectrum. The good news is that, with the right guidance, such people can make loyal partners. The bad news is that 24 is not the age where most men are receptive to said guidance. Hence, we married at 37 -- birthdays are 10 days apart.

Your brother needs to grow up. He'll (hopefully) grow out of it. If not, let your brother know that he does not have to date him and you do. I told my brother the same. Additionally, I warned him that Z -- my husband -- was a champion debater and would readily wipe the floor with him rhetorically at Thanksgiving. When everyone did meet, and my brother started flexing about having bigger muscles than Z, who told reminded that the most important muscle in the body is that which lies between one's …

Could someone leave their wife because she doesn’t share in their faith? If your husband does this, I'm sorry, but it is indicative that he never loved you deeply enough in the first place.

He also mentioned he had a live in gf of 6 years How old was he at the time? My husband lived with his (then) partner 5 years -- college and uni -- without proposing, but proposed to me when I was in hospital a few months into our relationship (or so he assures me, I was undergoing cancer treatment and so had, understandably, more immediate concerns).
/r/RedPillWomen07/10/25 06:09 AM

How do I create a life that doesn't revolve around my husband? Reframe your question to "How do I retrieve my life before my husband?" Now figure this out. What did you enjoy before you met them? Can you include your kids in said activities? If not, can you leave them with him?

I suppose there could be a learning curve, in that, eventually, I'll start simply getting ready a half hour later. But that would entail a resistance to changing myself that simply doesn't exist.
/r/RedPillWomen05/09/25 06:10 PM
2

When we were dating, hubby soon realised that I estimated time optimistically, so he would put in a buffer when telling me when to be ready. For example, if he was to come get me at 7, he'd tell me 6:30, so I'd be ready. I've since learned more pessimistic time estimation techniques.

my best interest Our best interest. For example, we moved to London, where he spent his youth, in 2020, instead of back to the US, where I'd grown up, with our daughter. It would have been better for me to be in the US, near my family. But, I'll begrudgingly admit that taking the daughter to Hyde Park, feeding her sandwiches from Lodge Cafe, then taking her to Harrods is something we've both come to enjoy.

I'll leave the roasting to those more practiced at it, I'll stick to empathising. There are too many who want to tear us down. I was “special,” that I had “great potential,” You remain special and retain your potential. Only not for him. Men are not Tube tickets -- the one I bought last week can still be used today as much as the one I bought last month. So, keep trying. Take lessons from every experience you have, learn what you like and dislike, and you will find your one.

Of course we who choose not to compete are less stressed than those that do. This goes both ways, however. If a man chooses to stay home with the kid whilst his wife works, does he exhibit the same level of stress reduction?

I spend more time on my mobile than hubby does. His choice is to read Kindle or play chess online; it is unclear to me which is better, but he can (and does) turn it off whenever something comes up. We have a daughter, 6, together and have been married 8 years.

We don't have defined gender roles -- I took the SUV for an oil change this weekend, whilst he took our daughter shopping for a new dress and to get a mani-pedi, as we are both functional members of society -- I have ADHD (dx'ed, medicated) and he has Aspergers (DXd, unmedicated).

I will miss him though This is a human thing. We feel loss more powerfully than we feel gains. The reason for this is treating threats as more urgent than opportunities gives us a better chance to survive and reproduce. This is irrespective of age or gender, though it may manifest differently.

When my husband sees something awry, like our daughter getting into my shoe closet and destroying any semblance of order therein, he'll just silently go and put things back in their place. I know he did, because, on her playdate, daughter and her friend came up to me and asked me to come look at my closet with them as they'd made art out of my shoes. I went with her, closet was opened to a bunch of shoes mounted, arranged by colour, sorted by heel height -- to her horror.

My husband will be able to cast more light on the details, but this is how ChatGPT works, far as I can tell: It takes a metric tonne of input, applies heuristics (this is where my husband can do a bang-up job of making it comprehensible to we non-members of STEM royalty), and gives its output. While one can tune the heuristics, unless one understands exactly what they do, this is a fool's errand. Hubby is not employed by OpenAI, mind you. When hubby's ex's mother sent him an envelope and email while we were in Spain, he skimmed the email on his mobile and filed it away as "nothing urgent". He proactively told me she'd emailed him, he'd skimmed it, and told me what the filename was on the server. I had the email printed, as I hate reading longform on the screen. Husband remembers my telling him less than a year into our relationship that I was interested in him as a life partner -- I do not, as I was drugged up in hospital in Spain. I do, however, remember telling him to "leave me". He, thankfully, did not. Eight years, a daughter, and several moves later, I'm sipping a hot cocoa that he brought out overlooking Hyde Park in London. He's sitting next to me with oatmeal and orange juice.

I find anyone coming up to me on the tube, talking about anything, whether it's to compliment my ring or talk about NHS England being folded and its responsibility being put back under the health ministry, a bit off-putting. IMO... giving a partner the stay-at-home-benefits should be given guardedly. I was engaged between high school and college to a guy at church. He was traditional, in the sense that he insisted that I not go to graduate school. As a result of his views on this topic, the last paragraph is in the past tense. Because one wants one's partnership to be give and take. If one is prepared to give, make sure one is getting something in return. A possible compromise could be spending weekends together -- one weekend his place, one yours, one a hotel, one a B&B -- or whatever you agree on.

For "sounding more intelligent when I speak, e.g. using “um” or “like” all the time", which I have had longtime issue with, when we first met, my husband took me to Toastmasters and we continued this when we moved to Europe, where he grew up. If they are farmers, they owned land, which, in developing countries, as well as the developed world, translates to wealth. Even if they are sharecroppers, they're merchants, like both sides of hubby's family were. When you're a merchant in the third world, one owns the market -- whether that's diamonds or carpets -- and enforces this through mercenaries, which also require money.

While I recognise the potential of an emotional affair (or worse), he does come home to us and holds up (more than) his share of the housework and childcare. This is, IMO, all that can be expected from a partner. Should he want to stray, he will stray. Best I can do is take care of my own actio…

Thank you... In this case, I trust my male in-laws, at least the immediate family -- husband's brother, his father, even his brother-in-law -- completely. My sister-in-law, not so much. Never met my mother-in-law, who passed long before we met, but given her children, I'm sure she was stand-up woman.

I submit to him because he is my chosen partner. I could make a case for submitting to, say, his brother or his father as they share genetics, values, and personality traits. I'm asking how far this case should be made.

I suppose the fear of hitting 30 was far worse than the reality. Ditto 40. And probably (44 now) 50, 60, 70, 80, and so on. Having vaulted over these hurdles twice now, the fear of aging lessens and the experience gained over the past decade allows me to look forward with less dread.

"let him lead." does not mean "let him hoard over you". It implies (and necessitates) your approval and consent. I let my husband lead, however, he knows the bounds of it. For example, we live in Central London. He knows that he can go to any pub after work, but not to a strip club. From our credit card statements, I know he doesn't.

I met hubby at 33. I was engaged to another (abusive) guy at 22. When I would call my mum after a fight and cry, she would assure me that all guys are like this and that we females had to "smile and hide it". Well, no, mum, all guys are not like this, as you have since learnt. We married at 37 and adopted a niece from his sister when were 39 and she was 3 months old. About to enter our eighth year of marriage and he hasn't so much as raised his voice at me, much less slapped me.

Seems to fit us. I met my husband when we were both 33 and transitioning from coursework to writing our respective dissertations. We were married a few months short of our 4 year anniversary; engaged on our 3-year anniversary. I became pregnant a year into marriage and will celebrate 8 years of marriage in December.

Does pursuing a PhD make me less desirable to masculine men? If your possessing a PhD (or any other qualification) turns anyone off, they aren't for you.

I know the paella in Valencia is better than mine (will probably ever be). However, I let him eat it out of my (carefully manicured) hands and that is uniquely ours. It is something he can't get anywhere in Spain.

My husband is Moroccan-Lebanese. On our honeymoon, we were in Spain and took a paella class, so I make it for him and he provides the wine. We put our daughter to bed and enjoy the meal.

At some stage, the wonderful jalfrezi, vindaloo, etc. and their chefs become British. I think that time has long passed.

My BiL and, especially, his wife are wonderful, but husband's sister is just, I'm trying my level best not to be too mean, but his younger sister is intolerable. It's a close-knit family, where there's little difference between cousins and siblings and, while I've met most of them -- and been impressed by the depth and breadth of their knowledge about lots of topics -- most are polyglots and lots of doctorates both in and outside medicine. I think one's even a tenured professor at Cambridge.

who cares about age? In the end, those around you do. My husband is 10 days older than I and we got married in 2016. He's always subject to, what he assures me is, good natured ribbing from his friends and family for not marrying someone younger. His sister is the only one who teases him about this in my presence and tells me others do so. Hearing him told that, "come on, you know you should have married a younger lady!" does hurt, but the way he reassures me -- which is hard to put into words -…

Husband and I visited Bristol a few weeks ago, staying in Somerset. Our host was the then-member of Parliament for the 19th century (British readers will know to whom I refer). While we both disagree with him vociferously on political matters, politics didn't come up aside from my husband advising me that the three of us are more likely to agree on taxes than politics. But, husband knew him as a "consummate gentleman" - and he did nothing to dispel us of this notion. He took us to Bristol, showe…

Did you know him well before you went on a trip to a foreign country on date three? I had known him a month. Yes, it was a big risk, even he acknowledges this. Especially, given that at the end of the month in London, I found cancer on my left breast. I really thought he'd bolt at that point -- my father would have. But he didn't. He came each and every day to the hospital, engaged with doctors about my diagnosis, connected them with top experts in Europe on the condition. He kept my family appr…

We women want the guy to have a plan to be a good provider, it matters less where he is now. Likewise, guys want women to join them on the journey to better themselves. At 26, you're still young enough to change your habits going forward.

My husband paid about US$50 for our first two dates -- appetizer, main, dessert and a couple of glasses of wine. Ok, fairly standard. But, really up'd the ante for our third date -- Olympics tickets in London followed by a weekend (which turned into 52 weekends) in Barcelona. Over our year in Barcelona, I joked with him that he better be careful as I'll start thinking of him as husband material. On our flight back to San Francisco, he said he wanted to be my baseline for a husband, as he assured…

As you seem to be from a traditional family, but are more progressive, do you have a male relative or close friend -- could be gay, actually -- that you can trust to vet them for you? Key here is that he shouldn't have any designs on dating you and should be male.

Religion is not so important as how the mother's religiosity was instilled in him. I, too, am in a mixed marriage with someone of Muslim background. In my case, his mother was very religious (Shia Lebanese), but passed when he was 7. He and his siblings were then sent to boarding schools near the mother's relatives -- she was outlived by a trust earmarked for their (and their descendants', if applicable) schooling (she had a doctorate from the Sorbonne in pharmacology but never worked). So, he w…

My husband appreciates compliments like this because they are rare -- he grew up at a very traditional all-boys boarding school in England till 17, then went into STEM. He's always maintained that he had to be with overly affectionate women to stay sane.

for the last two Mother’s Day (my first two), he hasn’t done anything at all for me, no gift or flowers even. We (women, in general) place a great amount of emphasis on dates by nature. The other anatomical gender doesn't place quite as much. I asked our daughter when my mother-in-law's birthday was and she knew the correct date -- 4 years after she passed. I then asked my husband if he remembered and he did not. That's right, a son doesn't recall the date his own mother was born. This is not to…
