Thank you. I already feel a bit better and just had a session with my therapist. I know it is still a rollercoaster ahead, but working through the pain and grief one day at a time will help.

So, do I even mention this to her? My guess is the response is no, and grey rock, and get divorced asap. The issue I am having at this very moment is feeling so betrayed because it happened while we were in counseling. My therapy appt is tomorrow so I will likely get some help there with moving past this anger.

I don't want to, she asked for a divorce about a month ago. I thought we were actually making good progress in counseling, but I think she had checked out a year or two earlier and was just getting herself in a financial position to be able to drop the bomb. Using and abusing me the whole time. We have started the process of mediation and would like to keep lawyers out of it except to go over final paperwork. I do have a therapist I see every Monday and just made an extra appt. for tomorrow sinc…

Yes, I am definitely angry, and yes, right now, I want to punish her in the divorce somehow, but you are right, I need to take some deep breaths and work on the grief and guilt. I know I am part of the issue. Thank you for straight talk.

I am not sure what you mean. I have only made two threads.

Yes, I do. It is hard to handle, but I see it. Like in Shawshank Redemption when Andy tells Red he killed his wife, not by actually killing her, but by driving her away, that is how I feel at the moment.

We are definitely getting divorced. She has made it clear she has moved on. Now I know a bit more about why.

Agreed, I will get the divorce and move on. I am not looking to try to fix it. I think I just want honesty in this moment of chaos to help with the pit in my stomach.

Thank you. This is helpful. As a people pleaser, I will easily believe I caused all/most of the issues in the relationship, but here, now, I am holding a boundary. It takes two to tango. I just need to recognize the manipulative control freak in the future and stay away.

Some part time work I did, and Investments which paid off at beginning of 2025. This year has seen a downturn in the market though, so I am under water a bit with the initial amount of loan from my parents. Not much though. We are also using food stamps and food bank which help the food costs. Main vehicle is electric, so not much fuel cost. I appreciate the tips. It does seem like it would be bad for me to get a job, but if the mediator says something about imputing my income, based on my previ…

Thanks for the idea about responsibility for the divorce, that is helpful. Her student loans happened while we were married, so I think that will be a debt for both of us unfortunately.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
