Fair point. As women we need to try harder to stop projecting our kindness, compassion and self-awareness onto men. Many men feel no shame in how they treat women, they only feel shame in terms of what other men think about them. Edit - this comment got me banned. Now I’m unbanned, but I’m done with FDS either way. Bye ladies.

Not dating gives you time to take a step back, reprioritize things that actually make you happy and work for your needs and preferences, and assess the dating world for what it is - not what we want it to be. Plus, it gives you the mental clarity, space and energy to identify and invest in someone who you genuinely do want to be with long term. That is definitely a strategic approach to dating! Stay up :)

This could be its own post. It reminds of when I told a fun fact to a male coworker, who then repeated it to me (incorrectly) the next day as if it was his own thought. I kindly reminded him that I told him that yesterday and corrected his misunderstanding - and he denied that he heard it from me. He also took credit for my work all the time.

Five comments, all deleted… thank you mods for sparing us!! I hear you on this - I read the body language of the women in pornography and it breaks my heart. I truly do not understand how it can be enjoyable to see someone uncomfortable, fearful and shamed. The part that gets me the most is most dudes seem to enjoy that aspect of it, which is of course the ultimate turnoff. I think in a normal world, women and men could have healthy friendships. But porn-sickness really stole that from all of us…

The stress of a relationship with a guy literally gives me cystic acne. I've got beautifully clear skin these days 💕

Couldn’t just be happy for her and let her enjoy the fact she made money from nothing… had to take her down a notch immediately. She was hurt (as intended) and got protective over the tiny bit she made (probs more protective over the idea of the $200 and what it meant for her - no suffocating financial oversight). Could have celebrated and encouraged her new source of income, but that would take away his power. Can’t have that… Heteronormative relationships are terrifying for women tbh.

Also showing her new BF that she is a naive push over who is irresponsible with money which is decidedly NOT the traits of a stable person. Just… wow…

Men treat me with MUCH more respect now, and we should call out the phenomenon. I see young women get it directed at them and I remember those days. It’s a literal tragedy we treat our younger ladies so harshly as a society. One trick I find that works for dealing with higher risk men is making eye contact and acknowledging them before they get a word out. Helps them see me as a person and halts their mental cascade toward being awful.

Yeah, I wasted a lot of time on crap dudes for sure. I start to feel that loss and have to remind myself that while I could have done better, I could have done a lot worse. I left men when I needed to, I protected myself, I cut out toxic ppl, I prioritized my health, and I protected my womb from tying me to a trash can for life. I have to forgive myself for being young and being taught that my only value was what I did for others. Heck, I’m still learning what my needs and boundaries even are lo…

I do often think about how it takes a lot of women until their 30s to resolve the worst of the social brainwashing (keep investing in men/do everything for them and they’ll want you more), and right as we do - BOOM - no man wants you… I still get hit on constantly, only in my 30s, it’s men with something to offer me as opposed to men only able to take. I don’t get cat called as much, or honks/engine revs, I don’t get bullied/devalued causally in my friend groups, I don’t have to sit through ppl …

I’m going to assume this isn’t a troll to give you the benefit of the doubt. I rarely see celebrity stuff on this subreddit. More importantly, these are two cultural icons (regardless of what individual opinions on that are) who influence how women are seen and treated in society. That is why we are discussing it here.

I think about my grandmother every time I make a cup of tea in my quiet apartment. We never bonded, but I loved her. She grew into an unkind person after years of living with my abusive grandfather. Didn’t even get her own funeral. Only mourned when her husband died. I know she would look down on me with a deep happiness knowing I made it out of that cycle. Whenever I get lonely, I remind myself I’m living a life she never could. Makes me feel better.

I also couldn't help but notice how he stayed home for a week as a child and it was not a big deal? Doesn't mention how his mother likely helped him recover at all in his story? Like even IF his dad helped, he was home for a WEEK and needed support. Poor woman, her mother was probably asking him to come back to help so she didn't have to :/

In* my experience men do know what other men do. Men will go to the ends of the earth to cover for their buddies, will lie for them, provide alibis, all of it. They know and love their male friends endlessly. It’s part of how the behavior gets so normalized. Men do not hold each other accountable. It’s easy to see hurting someone as acceptable if you have a social support group that will forgive you for anything regardless.

In my experience, they mean it to be something like ‘I have so little going for me that I will only talk about you if we date, and you better make me look cool.’ A few exs would only ever talk about me for the above reason or they simply wanted to deflect from talking about themselves due to anxiety, depression or they were just mean. He called the police on her the first time. He made it clear what he was capable of. I’m not going to blame her, as he escalated the situation with malice, but we each need to be the one person looking out for ourselves. ‘Mail it’ or ‘leave it on the porch’ is reasonable. If you can’t let physical items go, DONT give them to abusers. I highly doubt there was anything in those boxes of significant value. Why are you trying to be fair to someone who is risking your safety and disrespecting you? It is insanely easy for people to find you. Rich Chinese men can easily pay for access to the full internet or simply travel. I think you need to rethink why you want to indulge this friend with the benefit of the doubt. Yesterday, I walked away from a situation where I was clearly being disrespected by a male without it upsetting me. I also asked a young man to leave my apartment last week (his sisters were there by invite and he just showed up) after he raised a fist to me because he was angry at his sister over his own behavior. With a history of pretty severe abuse, it took me A LOT to get here. This may seem VERY small to where others are in their journey in dealing with the patriarchy, but its miles for me…

I could use some help on this one - 1-the men who approach me are almost always taken. Seems like they have a gf finally and now think they’re gods among men who any woman would cheat for. 2-Any time I talk to a man, even at work, everyone immediately assumes I’m sexually interested. Happens after seconds of convo and I’m trying to control my tone and the topic. From my perspective, it is totally normal convo. I am not in a field where I can just ignore men I work with. The expression ‘boys are easier to raise that girls’ comes to mind. Of course boys are easier, you let them do whatever while your daughters are forced to learn to care for themselves and everyone else. Which would be harder to train someone for? I rarely chose to blame women (cuz bruh, grow up) but given the moms from gen x who’s sons I’ve dated, something went really wrong. Grown men living in complete squalor is not normal.

I’ve only ever had one successful way of dealing with a situation where I must cross paths with a couple like this- I make intentional eye contact with the woman, ignoring the male, and I smile, nod, and say hello to her as we pass. 1.) it makes the dude mad cuz he needs me to ‘see’ him for insecure reasons so bonus 2.) it shows the woman I don’t register her dude so she is ‘safe’ from my sexual competition 3.) makes me non threatening and remotely sympathetic so they at least de-puff a bit or i…

White ppl are not a majority group globally, nor in certain communities in predominantly ‘white’ countries. So gotta disagree with your premise there. I can agree there can be no systemic racism against white ppl in the US, but to say that racism against white ppl can’t exist erodes the concept of racism entirely. 100% It does feel victim blame’y but all we can do is assess her situation and learn from it to protect ourselves from ppl like this guy. Cant change him or influence him, really. Just avoid. This is me too! I’m working so hard to present as a person who isn’t an easy target because it gets so tiresome having to deal with crap dudes. The bonus is they lie like crazy and I tend to give ppl the benefit of the doubt so it’s best for me just to avoid them all together. I don’t agree that it’s insightful to present with no boundaries. From my experience and study of human nature, people exploit who they can and leave harder targets alone. For example, violent criminals choose targets that have slumped shoulders and don’t make eye contact (the victim stance). Additionally, certain people who have been abused sexually are at higher risk to be revictimized due to their internalization of victim behavior (poor boundary setting and poor insight specifically). For me, people treat me with more respect when I set firm boundaries and call them out on their own horrific behavior. It’s called solid object theory and basically people test you to see if you’re solid and base their opinion of you on that. Leveling up for me is not tolerating people like this clown. I didn’t see that but it is very much worth sharing. The saddest thing for me is if she demanded (rather ‘commanded’) more respect from him, like stood up for herself instead of taking a second job, he probably would respect her more. The real tip off was his family didn’t want to help her have an enjoyable time - they literally didn’t want her there. She should have taken the hint. This is why being a pick me never works for women. I’m just so sad for her.

Ladies! One of his replies: “Thank you. This is the first comment that's helped me realize that deep down I think she's not good enough for me and I do not want to give her more. I've felt this way for a little while but wasn't sure where the feeling came from. According to you all, she probably deserves better. So I'm sure we'll be breaking up shortly.” Proof to every male lurking here that wealth is not a high value trait. Empathy and generosity are.

I feel this way about my dog. He tries so hard to respect my boundaries (let’s me sleep in if I’m tired), make me smile, cuddle me when I’m blue and just act like a positive presence in the house. He hates arguments and will be extra adorable when ppl around him are upset, like try to get you to pet him or play to calm down. It’s insufferable that only two guys I’ve ever dated had that level of emotional intelligence and conflict resolution skills.

Lmao - I love this. Sometimes I take it to a weird place and imagine a world where it’s all artificial insemination for women who want babies and the sperm of tons of dudes (that she picks and approves of) is mixed together. The most vibrant, strongest and most attractive-to-that-particular-egg sperm wins the right to reproduce. Ohh, and it’s free to women - the men pay for each opportunity to submit sperm.

Sperm from older men is more likely to produce a child with autism, schizophrenia, cleft palates, risk of low birth weight and premature birth, later still births, congenital heart defects and MORE. Even if he’s in great physical shape, an older man’s sperm will burden you with a less enjoyable birthing and parenting experience than a younger man’s on average. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2566050/#idm140449230118880title

These comments are coming from the people close to this man, aka her new BFFs when she moves to be with him. He feels compelled to tell her because he values these opinions and is asking her to defend her position. She gonna hate her new life with guy in two years time if she can’t stand his friends now. Awfully thoughtless decision for someone with a stem PhD.

That’s exactly it - they think doing anything without an immediate, direct benefit to themselves only is a chore. It’s boring and pathetic and another reason women are so important to male health. They’d be entirely alone if not for their wives.

Seriously - most men I know put as much effort into their male friendships as they do their romantic relationships (literally zero percent effort) and complain constantly about being lonely. They honestly believe they need to do nothing for themselves and people should still be fawning love and adoration on them. It’d be funny if it didn’t leave these men so broken and alone :/

I’m noticing a trend in this thread of great interest to me. Shorter women have fewer problems with shorter men and are even defending them. Taller women (including myself) describe vitriol from short men that keeps us away from them as a group. Wonder why that is?!
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy31/05/21 04:03 PM
10

Exactly - a short man of quality reading this would say to himself ‘i don’t do this to women and therefore they aren’t talking about me’. Women are allowed to have preference and also protect themselves from a type of man who spews constant hate.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy31/05/21 04:02 PM
29

This has been my experience too. The short men who confided in me when trying to get pity sex universally admitted they’re just mad they can’t be ‘players’. It really did turn me off of all short guys cuz how on earth is that something you tell someone you wanna date?! I get ‘not all short men’ but when it occurs with such frequency it really can’t be ignored.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy31/05/21 03:59 PM
26

As a tall woman, most of the hate I get is from shorter men. I’m all for not ‘generalizing’, but please also don’t just dismiss other women’s experiences either. When someone is telling you their truth, it’s not generalizing. It’s their truth.

This hurts - I really lost so much during my teens. If I counted the hours spent hating myself and what made me ‘girly’, it would equal years. All you young FDS’rs please take time to unlearn what hurts you and learn to love yourself. You’ll never regret giving your years to yourself and not lvms and the patriarchy.

Workplace harassment has lost me not just jobs but full careers. Even at my job now, one coworker asks me out every day. Every frigging day. I turn him down politely but I rue the day he gets the hint and starts to sabotage me. The worst part? The women GET JEALOUS - like, they want men to harass them out of work to feel pretty, I guess. I quite enjoy rejecting gross ass deadbeat dads. They left their wives thinking the grass is greener elsewhere and I just kick them off my lawn. If you abandon your own children, why on earth would any woman think you wouldn’t do the same to them? What gets me is how men rally around each other no matter what. They close ranks immediately if one of even their most distanced friends needs an excuse, alibi or if a woman ‘wronged them’. If women took that same approach, we’d be untouchable.

True! That is definitely what I’m experiencing too. Many of my friends work in mental health, helping people day I day out making mad money doing it yet allow fuckbois to literally ruin their own self worth over tinder. Well said, I think this is a really important point and a much less threatening angle. It’s along the lines of that technique of revisiting trauma and an observer, not a participant. Takes a lot of the emotional conflict away so the gal can see how things are, and how they could be.

Yeah, I was a lot more blunt in my 20s but even when I sugarcoat it down to almost having no meaning the results are similar. I think you nailed it that self worth for women can often revolve around their ability to snag/keep a man, and so perhaps it’s fair to say that pointing out the flaws in a mans behavior can easily be twisted as an attack on the woman herself. Honestly, any time I’ve ever told a female friend I think her bf isn’t treating her well, IE that she shouldn’t go home from each date in literal tears, I’m the problem. Most women I know fiercely reject any less than positive comment about their man, no matter what is going on. I was conditioned at a young age to date only ugly guys otherwise I was shallow. Really internalized it. Other women would try to ‘steal’ these guys from me (they were ugly and with a hot chick so they must have $ or a big 🦆, right? lmao) and they never had the chance before so took it. Women actively build their families. Proven by the most ROI successful nonprofit aid programs in the world. Resources given to women tend to go directly back into their family unit. Healing journeys come from within 🙏 It always surprised me how the men I dated in the past always said they wanted to heal, but even a little work (like skimming a self help book I read in the past) was fought tooth and nail. That little smirk!!! I know exactly what you mean. My only approach to that behavior right now is to give no reaction physically and say ‘that was a nasty/unkind/useless thing to say’ in a monotone. I’m very curious about the ‘unwillingness to seek medical care when needed’ mentioned early in this post. My last relationship had this marker, and I hadn’t encountered it before. It was infuriating. I still can’t understand why an adult wouldn’t go get an X-ray if they are confident they broke their hand? His reason was affordability, but he bought $1500 in camping gear over the same period of time. If anyone has more insight on this facet of the post, I’d love to hear it.

You just repeated my point back to me. I brought that point up in this thread, as I wonder what options leaders in the military have to encourage men to stop raping. Whether they rape men or women is irrelevant in my opinion, because they are clearly demonstrating violent behavior, which is the bigger issue.
