As someone who has been ugly my whole life I do understand. I am writing this comment to show you that you’re not alone. I am 29. I have asperger’s syndrome and I was severely bullied most of my childhood and adolescence, my appearance and autism were the main reason. No one was interested in me when other girls were dating and I got rejected many many times when I tried. I had a severe overbite, overjet and skeletal deformity, partially the overbite got corrected by bracers, but I still have vi…

That would be a huge turn off for me. I would be offended if he didn’t pay after inviting me out. He drove all the way there just to embarass himself like this. If give it another try, but if he was being weird about paying it might give you some information.

I did read it.

I assume it’s about maturity. I am dating a man 8 years younger and while he is absolutely amazing, good provider who is willing to work on his shortcomings, he is obviously immature in many ways. I love him dearly but sometimes I wished I could have just took the back seat but since he has little experience I often had to be the one who navigated things with him. It’s getting better but at the beginning of our relationship many practical things were completely unfamiliar to him. He was not keen…

It used to be called female dating strategy but it was banned (sadly it became too extreme). I think womenover40 is what replaced it now. I originally came to this sub thinking it was that and was very confused but then I read the full profile and was like “ah”. It’s this like submissive trad wife stuff (not implying it’s wrong everyone likes different stuff, but it affects the advice you get here). This sub has been helpful to me too because it’s more traditional that other subs that mostly hav…

I think it might be confusing from the name of the sub but it’s not like female dating strategy. It’s not “red pill for women”, it’s male red pill but adopted by women.

Let him know that you are uncomfortable with these ideas and be the example of someone he can trust. Don’t engage with it, but don’t let him think you accept it. His self-esteem is likely very low. Give him compliments and make him feel valued. I don’t agree with others who say you can’t do anything about this, you’re his partner and you 100% have influence over his beliefs. I think it would be good for him to spend time with men who don’t spend time in those spaces and encourage more balanced v…

This whole situation is a massive red flag, this is how you destroy your whole life if you’re not careful.

Something is telling me this guy is dangerous. Please be careful. This is exactly the type of situation where the guys seems sweet and understanding until you’re committed and then the switch flips.

It’s okay to pay for your friends. But I generally think a man should pay. Even if I invited him, I would still be kind of weirded out. I am looking for a generous man that can offer financial stability. My experience was that when a man wanted to split the bill he almost always ended up being a stingy man than wanted me to fulfill all the traditional woman duties while not even paying for coffe. Generous men feel insulted by you trying to pay for something.

I am sorry but this sounds like abuse. And it might get worse. It seems he is finding fault in you no matter what you do. You are right that he is being unreasonable.

I think the clearest sign of weak boundaries is when you constantly find yourself to be drained and frustrated with others or yourself. You may feel like people don’t appreciate you, like they should be nicer to you, you catch yourself saying yes to things but internally you didn’t really want to do it, you didn’t like something yet you found yourself unable to say no. You struggle to communicate your standards, ask for things and if someone is just persistent enough they can convince you to ove…

All I can say is that we should all strive to keep our self-respect high and not abandon ourselves. The more you stay, the more you’re betraying your own worth.

It’s going to be hard for me to forgive and forget since there were things he said to me that no person should ever say to their partner, but I see the remorse and if he stays consistent without trying to bargain or reduce the support I am willing to stay. I am currently processing some of the abuse in therapy, but I think I can put it behind me if I see genuine care from him. Only time can show probably but I am keeping my hidden account anyways in case he’s only putting temporary effort. He to…

I have a lot of compassion because he went through severe abuse. I cried when he told me and I would say nothing much phases me but the woman is a monster. It took him 2 years to tell. I know how it feels like to just get out of it. I agree, he is trying. I also have to work on my hyper vigilance and trust issues. Thank you for replying to my post!

Because of our history. I was asking if I should forgive what he did even when he’s doing better now. If I should go into marriage with someone who once treated me that way even if he regrets it. I am torn between forgiving and planning exit and I am not sure what to make of it. That’s why I was asking for a reality check, if our relationship could recover from the initial betrayal and exploitation.

Thank you for your input. About the mother things, I didn’t want to go into details but he did project her onto me. She was obsessive and controlling and literally locked him in her apt and wouldn’t let him do anything, it’s not that he was brought up to not help. She wanted to make him dependent on her, she’s mentally ill. I would like to correct the impression that he is keeping me. I provide high level of domestic labour and emotional support, that fully justifies his financial support and th…

I am currently financially dependent for 7 month due to mental health problems and chronic illness and I completely understand how you feel. I can’t imagine leaving because I have no family and with my disability I have very limited job options that will likely be very low wage. Disability benefits in my country are a joke. I also have two bunnies I would never give up no matter what, so accommodation options are also limited. I feel trapped and completely lost as the illness is affecting my cog…

Have you ever had a conflict or tension about how well you’re performing your household or childcare duties? Has he ever used his provision to justify avoiding your emotional needs or as a way to make you comply to something he wants (sex for example). I always wanted a provider man but I feel many men expect that you’ll always be available and often don’t see the domestic value as equal. I would have been so very happy with your lifestyle, but I can’t have children and I am disabled. I wonder i…

I guess it depends where you are, but I would personally be embarrassed if he asked to split the bill. I split bills with friends, not with a man that is interested in me. The only exception can be when I invited him for a date.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
