Yes that's true. I have an anxiety disorder and I find myself becoming agitated overtime in some conversations not just with women. I think as a become more confident I will become more open and free

I rarely smoke I was using it as an example show situations where I prefer to be alone. Dumpster diving is awesome man I flipped a chair that I found this week for 85 dollars. I highly recommend trying if you have any stores near you.. especially GameStop.

I know there are thousands of good approaches but I find myself doing sloppy approaches in bars. I'm working on my mentality but any other advice on how to improve my approaching/opening?

I was in a bar flirting with a taller girl and she told me "you are just too short" and I replied "yeah and my dick is tiny too". We ended up making out since I went along with her insult. But looks and height are two different beasts.. Commenting on someone's looks is very rude so those women are probably not worth your time. But eventually if you are feeling playful you could go along with the insult and say something along the lines of "if you think I'm bad now then you are going to cringe wh…

I agree with doing something that is applicable but relaxation is necessary to avoid burnout

I'm going on a ten day meditation retreat this week which will allow me to deepen my practice. I also plan on reading 12 books or so this summer while I'm back from college. I am going to start reselling items over the internet to make some extra cash. I need a plan to help me become more confident around women and improve my public speaking .. Any suggestions?

Yeah exactly. By doing nofap I made masturbation out to be some forbidden fruit so I constantly was thinking about it. By not watching porn but jerking it when I want to I actually spend less time thinking about it since it's a possibility. Yes I agree porn can ruin self confidence.

I did nofap for 3 months at the beginning of the year. In that time I did not watch porn or have an orgasm. Honestly it kind of fucked me up psychologically.. I started to repress my sexual urges since they view jerking off as a 'relapse'. If anything I would do pornfree since porn fucks with my confidence and is kind of boring at this point.

Being intense and driven in one's private life and then being able to be fun and outgoing at parties/ social events is the ideal balance. This way you can get shit done but at the same time be able to have fun with your friends and attract women. Making a distinction between work and play is important

I just finished my second year as a civil engineer. I need to learn how to work with my hands more, with things such as carpentry and basic automobile maintenance. Thanks for the encouragement

If you see potential and have been helped in the past then you could influence the future of this subreddit. As the Buddha says "Holding onto anger is like holding onto a hot coal to throw at someone" (paraphrased). Resentment is not healthy, so I can offer my view on experiences since I used to hold onto so much anger

Neuroplasticity won't change the circumstances but it will change your attitude towards them and how you deal with challenges. Yes it will be harder for someone born in poverty to became well off or a black man to succeed in a racist community buts it's possible

You will make friends throughout your college years. It may be easier the first few weeks but don't put a lot of pressure on yourself and feel like you have to meet everyone. It will come together if you are genuine although it may take a semester. This too shall pass

Reminds me of Atlas Shrugged. Once we start rewarding those who are the most 'in need' there is no motivation to work hard. I agree with some social programs since some people do require a lift of some sort, but people should be rewarded for hard work

After seeing this post I reached up to my bookshelf to get the book and to find this quote: 'So it is clear that we accord much more respect to what our neighbors think of us than to what we think of ourselves'(12.4)

This may be a big step, but you could look into a meditation retreat. They are free and located all around the country.. I'm doing one in May! https://www.dhamma.org/en-US/index

Rejection is still discouraging to me but no where near before. It took me probably about a year and then I realized talking to girls should be fun and to be easier on myself

The only way out is through. Once you get rejected enough you will become desensitized. Those emotions are normal just don't engage with them or act on them and eventually they will fade

I recommend YouTube videos by the pickup company RSD. The founder Tyler is a ginger as well and he has some very motivational videos about how to become positive and socially comfortable.

Dude 30 years is a mans prime in terms of attractiveness! Are you sure it's not a mental block?

About a year ago I was sitting in my college cafeteria and decided that today was the day. I scanned the room and my eyes fell on a brunette. Nothing special, average looking but she had blue eyes and I love blue eyes. So I forced myself to go over and with my heart beating in my throat I said "excuse me but I think you're attractive". I blanked and then left. The adrenaline rush was crazy. I later saw her friend at a bar and she said "You were that guy that said my friend was attractive.. that'…

Here is one of my earlier posts: Meditating is great. Highly, highly recommend. Mindfulness in Plain English is a free pdf. I have been meditating for about a year and am taking a class about Buddhism this semester. One way to meditate is to simply sit down (set a timer for a short period of time when first starting, perhaps five minutes). So sit down and simply let any thought come to you without repressing, or grasping onto any of the thoughts. Observe your thought process about specific thoug…

Meditation is one of the most positive activities for your life. There are various forms.. A good one to start out with is called breath meditation. The name is self explanatory. Sit down and simply concentrate on your breathing. Your mind will wonder a lot but just keep bringing it back to your breath and be gentle with yourself. Start with five minutes or so and work up
