OYS 13.2.18 Leading - Decision week Negotiated our house sale for the full asking price and money off the house I want. If it all goes through, will be a family home for many years. Wife's health is in a state of flux. Hormones all over the place with Over active Thyroid. Consultants advise check up in 8 weeks. Sex life is erratic, given her hormonal imbalances. No sex for weeks, then out of the blue hand job, blow job, cum on chest, then sucks me dry... I mean, ill take it, but it's a matter of…

What type of reps are you doing for 280? I am converting lbs into Kilos, so 280lbs is approx 130kg (20/20/15 each side). 3 plates a side (20/20/20) in the UK is 140kg, so you're almost there. You'd be able to do it, a lot of DL is mindset.

Be cautious with deadlifts, when juicing, you're likely to be able to add a considerable amount of weight to the bar, quickly. I learned the hard way, a few years ago.

Dont leave your kids out of the loop. Let them know that they can still rely on you, despite the shit situation. My dad waited years before telling me how it affected him. Why shit went south, etc. Protect them, but be honest about what's happened. It would've been easier to understand, even if more painful.

OYS 1.2.18 General Update: A lot has happened in the last 12 months; Had a baby Got Married Poorly Wife & Boy (My son had the usual shit they get when joining daycare, wife has over-active Thyroid) House-move fell through Car accident (Monetary Loss) Handled most of it well. Hardest was the sprog, but dealt with my own anxieties quickly so I could refocus. I went through CBT, which taught me to, in a way, to embrace the feelings of anxiety, and understand where they come from. I thought, counsel…

I don't 'promote' anything. You talk about marriage as if it is something that magically enables a 'better' upbringing of children. My personal experience and I'm sure many 'imperfect families' can vouch for the fact that thier kids did just fine. As the unmarried biological father, I have the same rights as a married father. As far as having a daughter, I would bring her up knowing she has her own mind and makes the best decisions for her situation.

Good evening from the UK, Rollo. I am soon to become a father to my son. I'm fairly young and recently found MRP and your writings. As a father yourself, can you recommend any books or trust worthy sites/blogs that have assisted you, during fatherhood? Thank you.

Just be observant when you move from cut to bulk, usually if the cut was too short you could easily put fat back on. Good thing is you're using mfp to track your calories and you're not cutting too hard.... will be interesting seeing your progress. Also, you may want to start looking at gyms outside of work if possible. Once you start lifting heavy weights, Squat DL etc, 45 mins at work might not cut it. Also it's a good to be able to just leave the house and lift at the gym any day. Key is cons…

What kind of body fat level are you? If you cut now and don't really have any muscle mass you will look like shit. You may be better bulking cleanly, ~300kcal above your maintenance for a good year or more Ideally, to pack on the muscle mass. This is assuming you will stay natural.

She wasn't anywhere near my list of reasons for bettering the home. And when she came back home, saw everything done, it was refreshing to not be judging her reaction. Previously I would judge her level of approval. When you do stuff around the home for your reasons, she could not notice the work and it wouldn't make a difference to how it makes you feel. Isn't this just you no longer seeking validation from her? Realising the DIY tasks that needed doing without her telling you them, doesn't mea…

You are progressing well. 6 months is not a long time for your body to adapt and pack on kilos of lean tissue. Keep increasing the weigh on your main lifts. For a slight change, Google 531 boring but big. I've linked it before from a site called blackironbeast, you can put your numbers in there and it gives you a printable workout plan for I think it's 5 weeks... Successes: Pushing boundaries - Presenting to Senior Management Had to present to around 10 senior figures at work this week. It was optional and I felt nervous. BP me would have just ignored the invitation, but I knew I should step out of my comfort zone. Lots of truth, great post. The pill is a bitter one to swallow, but I will always choose the pain of the truth over the comfort of a lie. Fostering OI and stopping worrying about shit I can't control has helped me find comfort in the fact that I am responsible for my present and future, becoming the man I know I can be. ...newly unplugged man will look to his wife and say, “I’m the Captain now” to which she will laugh or snicker and say, ‘yeah, ok…’ For me it wasn't an overt statement, but she d…

IMO BMI is only good as an indicator of progress, but if you are tall and have decent muscle mass you can easily be classed as overweight. Body fat calipers and tape measurements are do-able at home if you wanted to really log weight loss.

Starting to own: Validation Not needing validation from LTR and others in general. I didn't realise how bad it was. But here are some genuine example behaviours: Clean up downstairs? - leave the hoover out so she knows I've cleaned. Buy things for her - let her know! ...Parents building their children up is a horrible thing... In what sense? I was thinking the way some parents do the whole 'taking part is what counts' thing, rather than letting thier kids know the value in self-improvement, hard work. I go through stages where I prefer Powerlifting to BB, and my focus at the minute is braking 5x5 PB's: Bench 100kg Deadlift 140kg Squat 85kg Not apologising. What's your motivation for losing weight? I need to lose some body fat to be able to see the bottom set of abs. I seem to be able to put on muscle better in a high calorie surplus, but that means I also put on fat. Which, being tall I can get away with for so long, before my face starts to look more bloated. Honestly, I'm new here but one of the biggest realisations so far has been removing her vagina from the pedestal I placed it on. If she knows you would do anything for her pussy she's got no reason to want to fuck you, especially with her diagnosis. The increase in sex has most likely been the increase in your SMV which is great but she knows that you need her.

This reminds me of another story I heard where a husband was upset by his wife's low libido due to antidepressants. Got her to convince the Dr. to add Wellbutrin to her prescriptions. Yeah, she got her libido back, alright. Just ask the pastor, choir director, youth minister and every other guy at church. I'll have a go. OP thinks his wife is a lazy fuck for not trying to sort out her 'diagnosis'. But instead points out how much effort he has put in to improve himself which makes it sound less bad than it is, convincing himself that the response would be "Shit bro you're fucked, deal with it"... when in reality, she still doesn't find him attractive enough because she can see through the Oneitis and into his beta Soul. On TRP, the niche is younger and newly married guys, who are primarily there to talk about the state of marriage. On MRP, the niche is older married guys with a highly experienced panel of older married men to advise and direct other men in the same situation. Ah nice, 531 is a beast of a program. Used it a few times when Powerlifting. Do you have a training partner? I really like to just go for it some days like heavy doubles or triples. On your bench press. Forget the DB flys. 50 reps is too many. You want to build strength so you need low reps heavier weight. Straight up normal bench press. With proper technique will give the best gains.

The obstetrician is there in case things go bad. We are both firm on hospital birth. Not sure it's a big thing in the UK for home births anyway. Thanks for the input. Appreciate it.

One of my concerns is seeing these guys who don't even try and lift because they're so "tired", yet work late without being paid and are at the mercy of there wives. I've been lifting for years, had a few injuries but besides that, gym is a big part of my life. I've got a few places I can drop baby off with family so I should be ok.

Uk specific advice: Join an NCT group. Costs more than NHS but worth it. Go on their website and punch in your postcode and due date and you'll see what class you can join. Book it yourself. Attend most or all of the classes with her. Usually they are on Saturdays but each course has at least one women only session. Make friends with all the other couples, no excuses. They will all be having their first kid within a few weeks of yours, and will become your new friends basicly. Those guys will be…

I found MRP when my wife was 3 months pregnant with our 3rd. I assume this is your first kid. A few suggestions: Get a good book on babies. I'm a fan of "The Baby Owners Manual" by Borgenicht and Borgenicht. Read it. There are two types of items you need for a baby: assets (crib, stroller) and disposable products (wipes, small size diapers). Make a list of both. Go get everything and organize it. Show her you're out in front of this and on top of it. Solid oak move. Hi CJ, yes this is our first …

Fuck off. If you don't have the frame to say something and do it, say it's so you can see if you're an organ match. I was never going to ask in the first place, I trust her. Is it common in the US? Since you haven't mentionned anything in your posts but she's pregnant, I'm guessing the problem is you having shouting matches to defend your mothers honour. Lack of frame, and freaked out. What are you getting at here? My comment about being told to get married: been through this shit for years ? Tw…

I'm not familiar with that book but my assumption is that it's similar to the Mayo one since it seems to be from PHS. Is this the book? http://www.amazon.com/Mayo-Clinic-Guide-Healthy-Pregnancy/dp/1561487171 I'm not sure what first time mothers are like over there but in the US there are various camps trying to pedal one thing or the other and all sorts of infighting. It's super confusing and overwhelming. Haven't heard of that over here to be honest. What kind of thing are they pedalling?

Make it apparent that you could do it without her if you had to. Again, subtle, asshole. I need to work on this for sure. I'm going to research and then order a solid book as /u/MRPCowboy suggests. The idea being I can prepare more maybe make a list?... and then I'm prepared and don't look fucking clueless when she starts saying we need to buy 'X'.

Get a paternity test after the baby is born. Not sure how to approach this. Surely it's a sign of distrust . Are you sure that she's pregnant? Women can and do use apparent pregnancy for material gain. Yep. Three tests confirmed. 6 weeks. If you're not married yet, don't. Don't get married unless you're sure that's what you want. Don't accept a shotgun wedding no matter what anyone says and everyone will try shaming you into marriage because "it's the right thing to do". Been.though this shit fo…

Pook is academic for now. Stick with WISNIFG. If you're not suffering I'd not read much more than the three prequisites until things calm down (infant and mother both sleep through the night). Thanks will take this on board.

I think you misunderstand... I'm here because I stumbled upon MRP via a front page comment. Once I read some posts and books, my own internal thought was " shit have I been a beta bitch " this whole time.... I read some more and realise that I don't put myself first and I put everyone else before me. I'm scared of rejection and I don't say what I really want... I would like more sex, Sure, who wouldn't...but I didn't find MRP because of a failing LTR or complete lack of sex. Then I find out she'…

Just mean do things that make you better rather than do things that don't do anything for you. I know now where I fucked up here, I should have, as has been suggested, been more subtle and learn to actually do something else that benefits me. Like gym/ walk etc...so I stop putting her pussy on a pedestal. Maybe I misunderstood your post? It was just a reply to SPT'S comment.

Do you even read? Haven't read everything yet... Thanks for the laugh also. I'm picturing a guy with his tea, laughing maniacaly while jerking off quietly on the other room, while the girl sits in the bedroom, with a dry throat, crying softly. No problem, tea is an emotive subject.

Lead her to a point where she adds value to your life again. I wouldn't say she doesn't add value, I am trying to become a better man for myself and her. MRP has pointed me in the right direction and things have gotten better from an already good place. I get what you mean though, it is happening slowly, which is fine right now. Thanks /u/scurvemuch

This is key. The thing that most of us in here have fucked up is the withdrawal of attention. This part can not be immediately after a "No" unless she is being very very shitty about it. Otherwise proceed as usual. Understood, thanks.

Thanks for that. The tea thing was a genuine reason, thinking she was staying in bed. But then when she replied with what she said I realised it did in fact look like I was being but butthurt and then lost frame. Will work on it and read up as you suggest.

STOP TAKING PICS. Ok, stop with the pictures of yourself, trust me just fucking stop. Now. Get you arse in the fucking gym. Download some Martyr Defiled, Slayer and other noisey shit. learn how to squat and deadlift. Focus on nothing more than lifting and eating better. Take 1 picture a week, same lighting, same boxers, same mirror...but that is IT. No more. 5x5 Stonglifts. Google and apply this shit. Join your Powerlifting club at Uni. Just fucking lift some heavy shit and eat some healthy shit…

The toolbox analogy really hits home with me. I've been lurking on MRP for about 2 months now, reading the top posts, NMMNG , MMSL, MAP and about 2/3 of the way through The Rationale Male. I too have a solid LTR, but stumbled across MRP by chance in a front page comment. It was indeed a 'lightbulb' moment and one I intend to keep switched on as the rewards of focusing on ME have translated into gains at work, socially and in our sex life. Thanks for all of your efforts BPP and the rest of the re…

Keeping a tidy home is plus beta but likely neutral on the alpha. Doing her favors she could do herself is plus beta but minus alpha. Ive read NMMNG and MMSLP (nearly). Is this concept you talk about covered in another of the sidebar books? It is an interesting way of viewing ones actions.
