MRP and Pregnancy - suggestions/ reading material

I found MRP when my wife was 3 months pregnant with our 3rd. I assume this is your first kid. A few suggestions:

Get a good book on babies.
Her emotions are going to be haywire. She's going to shit test you like a hurricane and be unreasonable. Some people say absolutely no dread (or progress?) during pregnancy, but I'm not sure I'd go that far. I think you should defend shit tests and be her oak, but don't get aggressive. I wouldn't do anything that could be thought of as "offensive" dread. Get your life together, lift (especially if you have in the past), develop frame, do all DIY and pass it off as manning up in correspondence with future increased responsibilities. But for gods sake don't start hitting on waitresses or staying out all the time. Women leave men because of lack of beta and I think this tendency probably triples in pregnancy, cause that's when it matters.
One of the legit reasons for women to lose all interest in sex is hormone changes, like what happens in pregnancy. Another legit reason is being nauseous 24/7, like a lot of women have for the first 3 months. That being said some women are super horny at times during pregnany. My wife was.
Don't assume asking for a glass of water is a compliance test when she's 8 months pregnant and having trouble moving around. On one hand she's carrying your kid, so help her. On the other hand she's carrying her kid too, so you don't need to pledge her your life in gratitude.
Don't be paranoid about paternity, but keep your eyes open.

I think /u/TheFamilyAlpha had a good post on Oak Moves During Pregnancy. That has some good stuff.

Yes, here's the key point that you need to take into consideration: you're going to be a father.

That means that you are responsible for doing your best to shape circumstances for another human being so that he/she is best poised for success and not failure that diminishes the world.

Here's my advice for you. Learn to take the long view. Every situation, including the pregnancy and the actual birth, is just a temporary one. You'll soon be on to something more challenging.

Better make sure you are ready. Good thing for you that you've got nine months to get there.

Pook is academic for now. Stick with WISNIFG. If you're not suffering I'd not read much more than the three prequisites until things calm down (infant and mother both sleep through the night).

Along with your Red Pill readings I would add the bluest of all blue pill books: "What to Expect When your expecting."

In pregnancy, my advice has always been consistent- NO ACTIVE DREAD! NO NEW DREAD EXCEPT LIFTING WEIGHTS/GETTING IN SHAPE. Other disagree, especially with a sexually withdrawing wife, but I am sticking to my well worn advice.

Pregnancy is NOT the time for Dread!

What can you do with a sexually withdrawing wife who happens to be pregnant? This is an easy 1 word answer:

LEAD.

Provide direction and surety. Be /r/thefamilyalpha and control her emotions and worries with calm certitude. Be THE CAPTAIN of this relationship. She will assume you are "taking over" because you are "stepping up" for the baby and this will provide plenty of comfort as well as making her more likely to follow your lead. If you can't lead her during pregnancy, there is little hope you will ever be the leader after the baby shoots out.

There is a popular notion around here that says no Dread during pregnancy. I disagree.

If your frame has been that she's in charge she can easily double down on that when there's a bun in the oven. I believe that Dread is essential to stave off entitlement during this phase. That being said, you need to keep it super-subtle, asshole. I'm calling you asshole preemptively here so you understand you're playing with fire and that it is easy to overdo.

Ideally you already have some level of Dread in place. But you don't because you're too new. I therefore advise you start at ground zero. Hit the 60 Days of Dread archives on the MRP sidebar. Your attitude should be that you're super stoked about the baby, to the point that you want to be the best man you can be - for him. Foster your OI and it will be apparent that she needs to bring more value than being an incubator.

You'll also want to learn all about baby shit. Bottles, strollers, toys, diapers, formula, car seats - make sure you research it all and that you have a strong and well-reasoned opinion about what gear to use and how you want your kid raised/cared for. Make it apparent that you could do it without her if you had to.

Again, subtle, asshole.

Get a paternity test after the baby is born.

Are you sure that she's pregnant? Women can and do use apparent pregnancy for material gain.

If you're not married yet, don't. Don't get married unless you're sure that's what you want. Don't accept a shotgun wedding no matter what anyone says and everyone will try shaming you into marriage because "it's the right thing to do".

Worst case scenario is that you mary and the baby comes out completely the wrong colour. Then you're up for divorce rape or being a cuck for another man's kid.
