No, I am saying that people being against only gay couples for this reason doesn’t make sense. If their worry is them not having a mum and dad, then they should also be against single parents for the same reason.

This theory doesn’t hold water because then they would also be against single mums.

The sexualisation of young girls was so common when I as growing up 20 years ago that I simply wasn’t aware of the implications of an adult man grabbing me on the street to try to drag me into a hotel when I was 14. Or old men leering at me on the bus when I was 12. Or a rich dude pulling up beside me in a fancy car when I was 15 and inviting me inside. I just thought, “Ew!” But no one had told me these things were not just wrong and completely unacceptable, but also ILLEGAL. When I raise my dau…

You have absolutely hit the nail on the head. If everyone parented their boys like you do, we wouldn’t need to parent our women not to fear them.

If looking and appreciating an attractive person is such a natural behaviour, how come men don’t notice women doing it to them? There are plenty of attractive men out there, the difference is that women do a quick double-take and go on with their lives, and they don’t make the man aware that he is being watched.

I made a short lived attempt at online sex work, and even in just that one brief month, it made me so insecure. And it’s strange because on the one hand men are literally paying for the privilege of looking at you, but on the other hand you’re now examining your own bumhole in the mirror and wondering if you need plastic surgery because “it looks weird”.

I think a lot of them GENUINELY believe they’re feminists. They believe proclaiming you’re something magically makes you it and you do not need to change absolutely anything about the way you act.

Another twist on this. Theres a popular comedy youtuber in my country whose whole schtick is making videos about “relationship problems” like hiding from your gf to hang out with the boys, your gf always nagging you, etc. And another male youtuber epically owned him by making a diss video called “I actually like my girlfriend and enjoy spending time with her”. It was great.

It depends on what it is. I was dating this asshole and he would leave me on read lots of times. If it was a meme or like something that didn’t need a response because the conversation was dying down, I didn’t mind. But sometimes I would send him an actual text like “Hey omg I’ve just seen Onward and it’s so good!” and he’d leave me on read. It made me feel awful.

I met this guy when I was visiting my best friend who lives abroad. We really hit it off so I visited a few more times (I visited my friend regularly, but I made my visits more frequent to see him). I think the current coronavirus crisis provides a perfect example of this. If the government ordered a complete shutdown after one single death, people would think they’d lost their minds, even though all the experts who understand how viruses spread would have known it was the best thing to do. But we had to wait till there were hundreds of casualties before it was taken seriously. The fear of appearing crazy (even to ourselves) stops us from acting up on our instincts.

I don’t care if he’s broke or not. To me, the restaurant you pick for your first date is a preview of the kind of places you’ll be going as a couple during your potential future relationship. I once cancelled a first date because I had chosen a really nice restaurant/cocktail bar and the guy kept trying to convince me to have a beer at the pub instead. I have friends who would love that, but I ain’t one of them.

Honestly, the pick me part of myself wants to wait and see if he improves, but who am I kidding? We all know he won’t. The way we’ve left things works as closure if no one adds anything else, so I was hoping all the encouraging comments from the FDS ladies would keep me strong in seeing it as a breakup and not being tempted to text again. Didn’t think you were, I appreciate other points of view too.

Well you’re missing the whole story. Saying sweet things like the quarantine thing is something he always does, so that’s not new behaviour. It’s just a distraction tactic. When I said he made me feel bad sometimes I was referring to specific recent actions of his (which I didn’t get into in my post), and he didn’t address them, he just tried to sweeten me up with the spending time together stuff. It wasn’t my first time at this particular rodeo.

I think when I started as a teenager it was just because it was what everyone was doing. Then when I went through the thick of my teens and my sexual awakening it was to look better for men. Later, I just got used to the fact that I wore make up. It was routine. Put on clothes, shoes, make-up. I felt naked and ugly without it. A few months back I decided I wanted to sleep in as much as possible so I started leaving the house without it. At first I felt like I looked tired and I didn’t feel like …

Okay so, maybe an unpopular opinion but, I would rather die than go to so much effor to ghost an ex. She literally changed her entire life over this man. Plus the fact that she did all this because it would hurt more than a normal breakup shows she is still letting him control her. She is still bothered about how he feels and what he thinks and making major life decisions with the only intent of causing a reaction in him. Why should she move, get a new job, leave her friends and family behind, c…

Wow that is certainly an interesting take, I’m going to think about all the stuff you’ve said and reconsider my initial theory. [I’m aware this sounds sarcastic but I assure you it is not- I am genuinely open to other explanations]

25

Omg this is a big theory of mine! I was reflecting on how most women tend to be attracted to violence in some form (men bloody after a fight, scars, the violent killers in movies...), which is I believe a biological instinct from our prehistoric days when everything was out to kill us and we needed to rely on someone stronger to protect us. However, everything isn’t out to kill us anymore, and those violent men don’t have an outlet for their violence, so they unload it on the female partners the…

It’s funny to me when I get called a female incel because that’s literally the opposite of what we are. Their “celibacy” is involuntary because women wouldn’t touch them with a ten-foot pole, whereas we’re a) not celibate and b) actually turning down men voluntarily. Our issue isn’t that we don’t get any men, it’s that we get too many, and 99% of them suck.

I’m not great at multitasking so I usually like to focus on one thing at a time. However, after following advice from this sub, I have stopped seeing dates as these romantic potentially-meeting-the-love-of-my-life big life altering events, and now think of them as a job interview that I’m holding, and I think of the men as people who need to impress me, rather than the other way around. This year for the first time I started dating three men at once, and it wasn’t time consuming at all because I…

This is why we need to make sure we support ALL women, not just white women. We’re all sisters and we’re stronger together. We cannot let men belittle and humiliate some of us like that. When they insult a black girl, they insult all girls. Stand up for your fellow sisters always.

I once was successful with a look of absolute disgust. An old man (grandad old) cat called me and my sister, and I couldn’t come up with a response in time, but the look of complete revulsion I gave him while I processed what had happened I think took him aback. I literally felt as if I had stepped on a pool of vomit.

I have tried doing this and unfortunately it backfired because he took it as me showing an interest in him and it encouraged him to engage with me more.

Here’s another angle on that (that is equally fucked up): Every time I’ve had casual sex it wasn’t good because I was SOOOO focused on making sure the man had a good time that I completely forgot to worry about myself. Society has brainwashed us all into thinking our pleasure is secondary to a man’s, and we consequently neglect it for their sake. I have a female friend who doesn’t follow FDS, she’s at a stage in her life where she knows she’s gonna be moving overseas soon so she doesn’t want a r…

A man from Tinder and I had arranged to go on a date at a really nice place I had picked out. On the day of the date he suggested I meet him straight after work for a beer at a local bar since we both work around the same area. I said to him no, I had already planned a cute outfit for the place we were going to, and he had THE AUDACITY to point out he preferred girls in Vans than in heels. I would add an extra detail. If you are moving in with a boyfriend, at least NEVER EVER move into a place he already rents/owns. You will never get over the feeling it’s “his” place, even if your name is on the lease. And if things go south, guess who’ll be asked to leave? You.

I’ve been guilty of this. Stayed over at a guy’s house and he had a towel-shaped mold stain on the back of his door. I could actually smell the mold from the bed. Also, virginity is a stupid pointless concept used by men to assign value and control women. When I have children I will talk to them about “experimenting with sex” and “intercourse”, but the word virgin will be banned from my household.

“I’m sorry I shouldn’t have said anything.” This one’s the most passive aggressive and I hate it so much. He upsets you, you confront him about it, and instead of apologising for the behaviour/words that hurt you, he apologises for speaking, thinking he has tricked you into believing he’s apologised since he technically said the word “sorry,” but at the same time conveying the veiled threat that he won’t be communicating with you anymore if you get upset at what he says or does.

It’s happened to me twice to go over to stay at a grown ass man’s house (I was visiting them, so they definitely knew I was coming well in advance) and when I get there the entire place is a mess. Dirty dishes, unmade bed, clothes everywhere... Not cleaning your house before you have guests over is like not showering after the gym when you know you’re gonna have sex.

It sucks but you have to break your own heart here, on your own terms, before he breaks it for you in a much more painful way. Your boyfriend clearly doesn’t want to get married (at least to you), and at this point even if he proposed it would only be because it’s what you want - not what he wants. And you deserve a man who proposes to you because every time he looks at you he thinks WIFE! and buys a ring and carries it around for weeks in his pocket trying to find the perfect moment to give it …

Oh, shoot sorry! I should have posted there, my bad.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy27/01/20 12:16 AM

She might not have been FDS. In his message he told me she was a student like him who suggested going on a date to a restaurant where main dishes were $60 each, and he “put her in her place” by telling her he’s a broke student and if she wants someone who can afford that she’s gonna end up being treated like a prostitute by older men (and that’s when she cried). So she might have just simply been an 18 year old girl who wanted to feel more grown up going to a fancy restaurant for the first time …

Yes! Definitely have an argument. No matter how well you get on, there will come a point when you WILL have an argument, and it’s essential that your ways of dealing with it are compatible. I have abandonment issues stemming from my childhood, and the worst thing you can do to me is ignore me or shut me out. So a person who deals with an argument with silence would not be a good match for me. I work well with people who prefer to sit down and talk things over until we’ve reached a solution. Wher…

My ex was a great guy (the only good man I’ve ever dated), but sometimes when we were travelling he’d randomly get cranky. Good for you!! Mari Andrew has a comic on her instagram exactly about how when we tell men they have upset us they get extremely upset about having upset us and now we have to comfort them. It reminds me of a post I saw recently from a woman who had been raped and her boyfriend wouldn’t stop crying and being angry and upset so now on top of surviving rape she had to comfort her own boyfriend about it. Except that when HVW have to “nope, next” HUNDREDS of times, and it’s taking time out of their lives and it’s outrageous, sometimes they get burnt out and want to vent. Plus, I believe it’s not just “men shooting their shot too high”, I think it’s a symptom of the kind of mysoginistic society we live in, where men have been led to believe by the media that no matter how unattractive, unpleasant and unemployed they are, they deserve a hot wife (The Simpsons, Family Guy, Modern Family, Married wit…

I’ve always dated super easy going and laid back men because I’m a bit high strung and like to be in control of things, so it worked out well for me. Except eventually, deciding the small fun stuff like restaurants and movies would soon turn into having to organise everything because if I left it to him it would not get done on time and I would have to deal with the consequences.

Yes. I have always wanted to be in control but I think that stemmed from a place of insecurity. I’m learning to let go more lately and I have been pleasantly surprised. A guy took me on a date at a crazy golf cocktail bar and I was taken aback at first but I went for it and it was the best first date I’ve ever been on. It’s nice to let someone else take responsibility for ensuring that everybody’s having fun, tbh.

I’ve had an instance of the opposite for a first date: We had agreed to meet at my favourite cocktail bar for a drink on a weeknight, and a few hours before he started saying since my work is close to his house why don’t we just get a beer after I get off and then we can go to the cocktail place if I want. I said to him I didn’t dress for a date this morning when I left for work because I was counting on being able to go home and shower first. He replied that he much preferred girls in Vans than…

Yes, this is the answer I was looking for! Thank you! The thing I’m most worried about is size (too small or too big) and/or weird fetishes. Technique you can modify so it’s less important.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy21/01/20 02:15 PM
10

Well I wasn’t quite talking about technique, more like... the penis situation. It’s happened to me before that a guy I was dating was very small and it literally didn’t feel like anything when he was inside me. We did other stuff, of course, but I don’t want to live my whole life...unfulfilled
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy21/01/20 02:12 PM

THIS!! In my entire life, I have overlooked so many red, orange, yellow and neon flags you’d think I was colourblind. And every single time, those flags were a symptom of something much bigger. Why is it that we’re unable to run away when we hear the leaves rustling, we have to be halfway in the lion’s mouth for us to spring into action? Wow. This has given me SO much to think about. I am an avid feminist, but for a while now something’s not been sitting right with me. We’re “taking back ownership of our sexuality”, and yet somehow, it seems to be in ways that are appealing to the male gaze. Even as we fight for our rights, we’re told we have to be the better person and take the high road. Why though?? We’ve been oppressed for literally millenia, and we still are. I haven’t felt that, but I think that’s because I grew up around it and have learned to be so firm in my rejection that it leaves no room for negotiation. One time we were dancing at the club and this guy kept poking his head in our circle trying to introduce himself and my friend was having none of it and she put her whole open palm hand on his face and pushed it away. It was glorious.

Representing Spain! I think dating here is too casual. Spain is a very laid back country and the dating culture reflects this. It’s very common for first dates to be just meeting up for a beer, casual wear, and splitting the bill or taking turns paying for rounds is the norm. I have spent most of my adult life living and working in the UK and I don’t subscribe to Spain’s attitude towards dating at all. I like to dress up for a first date, be taken to a nice place, have the man pay. It should fee…

It’s not the fact that I don’t find him attractive, which I do, he’s handsome. It’s more that I don’t think he’s flirty with me? Which is weird considering we’re going on dates. But when we hang out it feels like it’s purely platonic. Usually on a date a guy will do stuff like gently touch your arm, or brush his hand against yours when passing you a drink, or kinda linger with his eyes on your mouth a bit longer than usual, stuff like that. But this guy doesn’t. I think that’s what I’m missing.

Oh my god I think you have hit the nail in the head. My brain is so stupid that it thinks not scary = not exciting. What my insecure and Pickmeisha side wants is a bad boy and drama and big gestures, but what I NEED is a stable, reliable and consistently kind man.

Yes!! The world is so hellbent on setting us against eachother, it’s nice that we are taking back the power that community gives us. This sub has given me the strength to not feel bad for demanding that my standards are met.

Fast food chains stop being acceptable for dates past the age of 16, chains in general stop being acceptable after uni. Do your research and find a cute bar or restaurant and call ahead to book a table, bonus points for saying it’s a special occasion and asking for a cosy spot.

One time I was buying some snacks from a corner shop at 3 am. As I was paying, a man walked in and started hitting on me, calling me prettty, telling me to smile, asking me if I wanted to go dance with him. I kept my eyes down and didn’t reply as I didn’t want to make him angry, but the shopkeeper was not having none of it!!! He told him to stop bothering me, refused to sell him anything, and made him leave. I was so grateful.

Well there’s more features, you can recover matches you accidentally swiped left on and other stuff. Not quite sure. I don’t know any women who have it but you’ll occasionally see men without their age and distance so you know they do.

My sister recently came across a really hot guy whose bio said not to message him unless you had a thigh gap, so... nobody’s safe.

Yeah, if you pay for premium. I think that’s unethical tbh.

I have yet to taste the meal worth more than shaving your legs to spend a few hours sat across a virtual stranger, repeatedly saying “oh wow” to his lame college days anecdotes. If I was after free food I’d go visit my grandma

I’m curious is this a metaphor or do you mean it quite literally?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
