my friend did two years in prison and said the same thing. i'd LOVE hearing prison stories from him cuz it's just so foreign to me. he was totally cool talking about it too. he said the race thing was tough for him cuz he's not racist and he'd hang out and play cards with the black guys and latino guys, but if shit popped off then you were expected to stick to your race. my friend got beat up pretty bad by all the other white guys on his block one time - he said that the prison tries to balance …

it's one of those things that might sound cool on the internet (to some people...), but it's not for real life. i had a friend who did this kinda shit and i stopped bringing him places because he always made girls uncomfortable.

1) be thankful that you have a fun high-energy friend to roll with. that's really not a bad starting point, you just need to dial it in. 2) when he starts doing the braggy thing then call him out on it in a funny and lighthearted way and then MOVE ON. so if i was like "yo i'll make you dinner" and he did his bit with the "carbonara italy blah blah blah" i'd just be like "don't worry - he brags a lot but it's just cuz he likes you, he'll cool down a little bit once we get to know eachother" or "j…

well bottom line is that the only issue is you're meeting the wrong kind of women. think about the type of woman you want and think about the type of man she'd want. like I'm not going to coachella trying to find a nice wholesome girl to wife up and have kids with ya know?

my girlfriend graduated law school recently and i became good friends with a black guy in her class. he mentioned on a couple occasions how when he was a 3rd year, the 1st year class was much more "diverse" and he'd get so pissed off seeing these LAW STUDENTS walking around pants sagging acting obnoxious in the hallways. now they're graduating and the school's rate of passing the bar is plummeting and the degrees are devalued thanks to whoever decided that it was a good idea to lower standards t…

no way I'm smooth enough to come up with that on my own! first time I heard that was from a guy named David deangelo. he has a free ebook called "double your dating" which is great and really helped me out. it really applies to the "negging" guys talk about too because you're not trying to be mean or make her feel bad, you're just teasing and having fun. like I'm actually a super nice guy but I get called a dick/jerk/asshole ALL the time. as long as everyone's having fun then it's all good.

Sooner/Later people like to come back and talk to the fun person who didn't really get weird when things didn't work. It also gets you respect as the person who didn't bother/get oneitis when things didn't work. this is so true. i've had this happen with girls who i've asked out and they either never responded or said no and then i'd just talk to them next time i saw them like nothing happened. never gotten anything other than a warm response. maybe i'd even tease them about it at some point. be…

i do have a couple tips but first and foremost don't get too hungup on this one girl. if you're gonna punch above your weight class you have to accept that you'll get more misses than hits. just the way it is. 1) you do NOT tell her that you like her. you ask her out. specifically you ask her to tag along while you're doing something you'd do anyway. if you're talking to her and she says she needs to go to target later or whatever just be like "oh me too, let's go this afternoon" or if you're ta…

I think compliments are fine as long as 1) they're unique, specific, and sincere and 2) you're not in approval-seeking mode. most guys compliment girls just to try to score points and its transparent. showing her that you could take or leave her approval is CRUCIAL.

you ever hear the saying "a rich man doesn't have to tell you he's rich"? if someone's giving great advice i'm going to go ahead and make the assumption that he has his shit together. game recognize game. someone saying "hey just so you know i'm rich and bang out super hot 20 year olds"? that's insecurity. and i'm not really looking for advice from guys who're on the grind seeking validation. especially at 30+.

this kinda stuff makes my stomach churn. you're tripping all over yourself to tell us how you make a ton of money, and how your 20 year old girlfriend's super hot... this kinda shit's for 21 year old kids that wear t shirts that say "swag"; not for 30 year old men.

"MMA" isn't a martial art. typically it's a mix of muay thai striking and BJJ grappling. krav maga is the best for self defense in a "fight for your life" context, but many of the techniques are too brutal for normal scenarios. i'd recommend either boxing or muay thai just because i think striking practice is more enjoyable than grappling practice. BJJ involves a lot of rolling around with sweaty dudes and most of the time i'd rather just do striking stuff

In fact, she failed as a person and I hope you realize that you didn't want her number anymore after she pulled out such a poor attitude. whoa whoa whoa, do you ALWAYS feel like talking to strangers? i certainly don't. and girls are 100000000% allowed to not want to talk for any reason or for no reason. the problem isn't OP and it isn't the girl, it's the situation. for whatever reason the timing wasn't right. that's all there is to it. forget about it and move on, and DEFINITELY don't harbor an…

So, it's about perceiving you are the perfect version or guy eh i wouldn't go that far. i'm FAR from perfect and frankly i'm not all that attractive, but i have a lot going for me and i feel like i bring enough to the table so that no girl is really out of my league.

this is the play. im always like "whoa whoa whoa... what do you think this is? we're just friends" and then immediately try to escalate physically. usually good for keeping it playful and fun.

they spend most days at home in raggedy clothing doing work or homework lol this is SO key. hot girls like to put on the airs and graces like they're always soooooooo suave and sexy, but it's like stop it - at some point within the next 24 hours you're going to be sitting on the couch in sweatpants with wet hair and no make up, watching trashy tv and spilling food on yourself. being (mostly) platonic friends with some really hot girls will shatter the facade pretty thoroughly.

8 is also a biggie for me. my girlfriend is just a happy person. plain and simple. she gets really excited about the little stuff in life like seeing a cute puppy, or getting snow, or hearing a song she likes, or even going grocery shopping sometimes... just usually happy, smiling, and positive. it really is nice to come home to that after dealing with assholes at work, and she's the kind of woman i want my kids to be raised by.

i do this regularly at both work and social events. picked it up from a SUPER natural who i went to college with. i was a party with a few friends and he comes over to say hi and immediately offers my friends handshakes like "hi, i don't think we've met, i'm mike". i just remember thinking it was a really classy move, so if i'm ever talking to someone who's with other people that i don't know, i'll always introduce myself like that.

whatever, i just wanted the record to show that the initially prescribed advices isn't appropriate or advisable. i do commend you for being able to consider an opposing viewpoint and change your mind though - a lot of people can't do that. the passive-aggressive stuff is just unneeded and immature though. especially with that mod badge. it's just not classy.

dude, get off the high horse. i'm not attacking you personally, but you're doubling down on saying it's a good idea to play the "no YOU'RE the gay one" game at work. that's objectively bad advice. take a minute to re-consider this in the context of reality instead of "Agree and Amplify and DGAF breh" internet subculture. if i'm a manager at OP's company and i hear any of the back-and-forth that you're advocating, everyone's getting fired.

i think you're 1000% spot-on dude. this is the ONLY way to handle people like that. on a silver linings note - i think it's kinda beneficial that OP has to deal with this d-bag at an internship. he's going to have to learn how to handle people like this, and why not acquire that skill set this summer along with the job skills?

are you kidding me with this shit? "lol that's not what your mom said bro lololol". awful. be better than this. 1) gay shaming is pretty juvenile in general and completely inappropriate at the office. if d-bag wants to do it then whatever. not OP's problem. 2) OP should just stay the fuck away from this dude. he's never gonna have that one witty reply that totally devastates d-bag to the point where he'll never bother OP again. just pure fantasy land stuff. 3) OP isn't really getting the whole "…

it's just due to ignorance (which, IMHO is rather forgivable due to the media portrayal). they think "pick up artist" and think of some guy wearing make up and a huge fuzzy hat who's going to intrude into her conversation, show her a magic trick, insult her, and expect to take her home. in reality, it's mostly just guys trying to learn how to grease the wheels of social interactions so they're more comfortable/enjoyable for everyone!

eh you're partially right. leaving you wanting more is one thing, but the main logic is that a lot of girls will be like "oh shit, rando dude. better subtly project mild disinterest so he doesn't hover and get awkward/annoying...". being like "yo i gotta run, but blah blah blah" tells you that i'm not gonna cling or get awkward, so it's ok to talk to me!

I'm not trying to be super jacked, I just want to be more toned, and lose the fucking love handles so in your case, since you're super skinny, you need to focus on building muscle. the only reason that you think you look "fat" is because you have no muscle mass. once you do then the fat won't really be noticable. do this - download the free "stronglifts" ebook and follow that program (~45min of lifting 3x per week. you can handle it i promise) google a TDEE calculator and calculate how many calo…

dude you're basically asking us to make up your mind for you about what you want out of this relationship. if you're not sure yet then that's fine, but you need to figure out where you stand and go from there. if you don't see a future with this chick then cut it off. if you do then just keep it light and fun (it's been 3 weeks...) and see where it goes.

If you have them, what was it like to grow up with them? dude, you need to SERIOUSLY take these guys with a grain of salt. "spin plats breh". from a bunch of fat virgin neckbeards who've never had a girlfriend. do you want your girlfriend around 100% of the time when you're with your friends? cuz i don't. and likewise, sometimes my girlfriend likes going out with her girlfriends which is totally reasonable. it's NOT a big deal in and of itself. it's other associated behaviors that could be a problem so address THOSE specifically IF they pop up. if you…

see i wouldn't try to dismiss it, i'd just play it like anything else - either use it as an opportunity to make fun of her i.e. "well maybe you should try to be less boring in bed..." OR actually talk to her about it "well some guys are just shy and/or inexperienced. you can either try to teach him by communicating better or decide it's not worth it..." depends on where you are in your interaction and whether it's more appropriate to steer it toward more serious or more light/playful.

I was a little nervous, because this was right in front of all the groomsmen and some randoms. maybe we have different definitions here? like i can think of a laundry list of playfully antagonistic things girls have done to me i.e. "you should buy me a drink" that i'd count as "shit tests", and i've never met an attractive girl who's not gonna poke at you a little bit at first just to see what kind of person you are. it's not all stuff that's over-the-top dramatic and mean-spirited which is what i tend to think you're restricting the definition to.

i hate to think i ever "brag", but if the topic of conversation turns to something positive about myself, i always frame it in a way that conveys that i'm appreciative for what i have, and i'll provide a bit of a narrative about having had to work for it. talk about your fears and concerns and hardships (not excessively of course) and how you overcame them. i've found that if you frame it like this people will be happy for you instead of jealous.

i think for a lot of women the binary distinction is whether you're strong enough. like my girlfriend isn't attracted to skinny guys that she could overpower or who can't pick her up, lift heavy shit, etc.; but she isn't necessarily more attracted to guys that're bigger/stronger than i am.

i don't think huge muscles are important, but girls like it when you're strong enough. like if you can lift something that she's struggling with, if you can physically overpower her when you wrestle around, if you can pick her up and spin her, if you're sitting on the couch and can stand up and pick her up while she's lying on you trying to stop you from leaving. i've found that girls respond really positively to stuff like that. also - you mention below that you don't wanna get bulky... don't w…

upvote for the r/fitness because that's a BIG motivator, not to mention an excellent educational source so you're not wasting your time flutzing about in the gym, not seeing results, and thereby losing your drive. while we're on it, r/malefashionadvice should get a spot on your panel of advisors as well. it's impossible to take those guys completely seriously, but they definitely have some good advice.

i'll try to find the exact clip i'm picturing when i get home from work. and it's more "life skills" than "pick up skills" because there will be PLENTY of times when people are going to try to cut you down and intimidate you and it's not the cure-all, but it's a good arrow to have in the quiver.

Then some poor transitioning AFC is gonna get disillusioned when he gets blown out this is so hard to watch =( i was at a party recently when some guy tries to use the "80s dog names" opener on some girls in line for the keg and they were just like "dude... what?". i couldn't help it, i had to jump in and help warm them up a little bit. i never know if that's good or not though because sure, it breaks the ice and gets the girls more comfortable with him, but i think it also kinda steals the spot…

the vast majority of the time i've dated girls whom i've met through friends. i honestly think that's the best and easiest way to go, but don't completely discount bars and clubs. qualification isn't just to make you LOOK selective... do you prefer a girl who's ready for a real relationship and doesn't go out and party a lot? well then ask her about that stuff! i do think most girls at clubs kinda suck though so my scene is more casual bars and small concerts and house parties and stuff. funny s…

you tell her that her nails are really pretty. you look at them for a second longer letting conversation trail off. then you look in her eyes for a couple seconds and kiss her. an awkward pause to you = sexual tension to her. that's one of the biggest fuck ups i used to make. "oh no we're not talking better hurry up and say something stupid!!!" no. just shut the hell up, let it build. preferably while maintaining eye contact, and then give her a kiss.

Making a move on a girl who shuts you down is actually not all that bad, and she'll usually respect you for it, as long as you take it in stride. i wish i'd figured this out sooner. people naturally like people who like them (it's an ego boost) so as long as you're not creepy about it then i've found girls will usually be at least a little more interested in me (even at a just friends level) even if they won't go out with me.

one of the things that i think needs an underscore here is your unresponsiveness. girls LOVE to play "i can get a reaction out of you and/or make you uncomfortable" i.e. "where's your girlfriend?", "we were in VIP", "come in the bathroom with me", "i'm gonna grab your dick while we're dancing". lose your composure a bit and you're done. keep your cool and you're in.

in my experience they'll always offer some kinda excuse like "i just met you" or "whoa slow down" or "sorry not now" or "i don't kiss men in bars" or "my friends are right there" or SOMETHING. so just say ok and shrug it off. it doesn't mean she doesn't wanna kiss you, just that she doesn't want to at that specific moment. so if you feel another good opportunity then swing away. if she in fact specifically DOESN'T wanna kiss you then you'll know after your first attempt.

you'd learn this eventually yourself, but to save you some "WTF DID I DO WRONG???" moments - it's kinda funny cuz the amount of cockiness you can get away with is inversely proportional to the amount of cockiness you SHOULD rightfully have. like i'm almost bald (i'm 27), i have about 15 lbs i'm working on losing, i have bad teeth, etc. etc. etc. so i can joke about stuff like "yeah it's hard, i mean i'm just trying to chill with my friends in the club and all these girls will always keep coming …

just wanna say that i have a lot of female friends and i always keep an eye on them when we're out and one of them gets hit on by a strange dude. i'd NEVER just jump in and try to cockblock (i'd be much more likely to try to help the guy!), but if someone was making one of them noticably uncomfortable i'd absolutely step in. which is what her friends SHOULD do. so don't fault them for it. that being said - if she's interested in you and it's her friend who steps in, SHE will defuse it and tell h…

what a girl! good job man. couple things i really like about this: you didn't run any routines or canned bullshit. you just came off as a cool interesting guy and it worked! you were JUST polite and friendly at first and only expressed interest once she earned it. THAT'S the way to play it. i think sometimes being a "nice guy" initially is a DHV when you're socially obligated to interact with 9s and 10s cuz you're like "yeah, you're hot, cool, i don't really care, i'm just going to be friendly a…

i like this stuff in theory but i think it's completely classless to ask a girl if she's putting out if you're gonna buy her a present. or to ask her to commit to making you dinner before you pay. some good variations on this though that i think are a little more widely applicable: after you pay for dinner for you can say something like "you know, being a feminist and all, i would've gladly let you split it with me, but i decided against it because then you wouldn't OWE me anything" and give her…

You can even apply it to friends. You in the bar and nobody can decide where to go next. Everyone is like... "Meeeehhh I don't knoooow". This is when you jump in and lead your people like a true alpha leader to any fucking place you like and as long as you make that decision people will follow. there is NOTHING more annoying than a group of people who cannot make a fucking decision because everyone doesn't care. DO NOT let it get to that point. jump in at the beginning with something like "let's…

one thing i'd make sure to do next time (or before you invite her to lunch), is to talk to her about something other than just the fluff. currently she knows you as "the kinda funny guy who stops in every now and then." she needs to know you as a real person before she's gonna wanna go out with you. she still might, but it's much easier if she thinks of you as "the guy who's really into sailing, and loves thai food, and hates reggae, really wants a puppy, and has a little sister who loves hello …

great story man, and good job getting out there and CHOOSING to have fun rather than mope. your game style is VERY similar to mine in that i don't run routines, i just kinda wing it with the basics in mind and it tends to pan out. ALSO, your story reminded me of how FANTASTIC a gay wingman can be. it's like turning on easy mode. girls LOVE gay guys. the more flamboyant the better.

put them in their place? because they didn't like the fact that you were hitting on their girlfriends with potty humor, and kept it up even when they told you they had boyfriends? and then stuck around when they told you to beat it? if you'd tried to "put them in their place" and they'd kicked your ass they would've been justified in my opinion, cuz i would've done the same thing.

one of my favorites is to ask girls for their 3 wishes like if they found a genie. MOST of the time they'll be like "wow, huh, i never really thought about it" and you can like "WHAT? you never thought about that when you were little and watching aladdin or anything???" and it's fun to go through and discuss pros and cons of whatever she comes up with. i've always gotten really positive responses to this.

upvote for gym AND eating healthy. not only will it make you look better but you'll FEEL much better too which will start the ball rolling in the right direction. i always recommend some kinda martial art because it's a lot more fun than just running and lifting. like see if there are any boxing gyms in your hood. start out by getting the AA handled by talking to random people more and more. decide that tomorrow you're going to attempt to make brief, casual chit chat with 3 people and post a fie…

you're gonna have to get it going in that direction immediately from the get go so it's not weird when you start abruptly. keep in mind that if she's willing to go on a date with you, she's interested so keep escalating and she'll let you know if there's a problem. when you first meet up, give her a hug and a little peck on the cheek, noticably check her out and and tell her something like "well you certainly look lovely this afternoon" which is totally appropriate. she's on a date with you, you…

i think this is a good experience in general because you learned that getting hit isn't the end of the world. of the 1% of guys who will actually fight you, it's probably only 1% of those times where you'll get anything other than minor cosmetic injuries. also, i'm a boxer and a lot of guys from the gym routinely walk around with black eyes etc. not a big deal. if anything i think it makes you look tough!

well you're just starting out so whatever, you're gonna make mistakes, but there are a couple biggies - 1) the false time constraint is KEY. you just walk over to girls and sit down they automatically think "fuck this guy's gonna be creepy and clingy" and they're worried that you're just gonna follow them around. not good. that's why you have to act like you're about to leave at any second (not fully facing them, talking over your shoulder, etc.) and make sure they know that you have somewhere e…

so i don't really "pickup" since i have a steady girlfriend of over a year, but psychology is just so fascinating to me that i can't not play with it. plus i'm just a naturally social and chatty guy so meeting people is just fun for me. one thing that reading about pickup did for me though was reinforce a lot of the stuff i'd kinda learned along the way i.e. how to be more interesting, how to make people feel comfortable with you, how to project an air of confidence, how to handle AMOGs, etc. st…

ok well i interpreted your use of "professional" to mean like "hotel room" or some other sort of lowest-common-denominator appeal so i guess i misinterpreted you, but my point is just that a guy's room should fit him and reflect his personality. like there's absolutely nothing wrong with your room, but i have much different decorating preferences so i wouldn't really be happy with mine looking like yours. and if i thought i had to change my whole style to be "attractive" then i'd be pretty frust…

i love saying stuff like "yeah, you would be a sarah..." or "sarah? really? i would've thought you were like a kayleigh or something..." usually gets a response like "hahahaha what's THAT supposed to mean?????" and you can tease her like "well you know what they say about girls named sarah...". the kayleigh thing works great as a neg with intelligent girls cuz they assume you're implying they come across as ditzy so a lot of the time they'll start qualifying themselves.

check out my advice in the original thread. i still think you should've done pretty much exactly that. sending a vibe like "hey now that we've met i think it's fine to talk to you when convenient but i'm not gonna really go out of my way because i don't really have any reason to." at least you conveyed that you aren't intimidated by her and that you're a friendly guy. i mean that's a big plus. i think the only real concern here is that she might be worried you're gonna be clingy. just make sure …

ok so i'm reeaaalllyyy conscious of the fact that i'm gonna sound like a dick but look at this from an objective standpoint so you don't make the same mistake twice. here's how it played out: -you approached and girl was polite/friendly/receptive -the very next time she sees you you're awkward and make her feel uncomfortable if she was friendly with you again despite your awkwardness she knows you'd probably push the envelope further and she would've gotten a "so, um, like, can i, like, take you…

if it's loud and you have to lean in to say something (yeah yeah "don't lean in" whatever. it's part of the give and take) you can put your hand on her hip or lower back. or if you like JUST met her, then do upper arm. it's totally not awkward. i mean i usually touch my guy friends' shoulders when i lean in to say something. or if it isn't loud then lean in to whisper something like "don't look now but check out that dress the girl behind us is wearing. wtf??" and wear a little hint of cologne s…

"you know what i think is really weird? how blah blah blah blah" or "oh you'll probably like this - yesterday i was reading an article about blah blah blah and it said that blah blah blah... i dunno if i agree with that...". then the person you're talking to can take it and run with it however they want. also, i mean, you're on reddit. there's a lot of cool shit on here every day that you can talk to people about.
