Lipstick is not unattractive or outdated, and neither is smelling good.

Sometimes, I'll take just a spritz or two of some cologne that I bought at Ruehl. (EDIT: I just found out Ruehl closed a couple years ago. Shows how far behind the times I am.) Sometimes, just scrubbing with soap and applying a little deodorant is sufficient.

Also, I'm not sure whether this belongs here or in AskSeddit, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

My ex got me a bottle of Armani Mania cologne. The next day in class and random chick behind me leaned over into my neck and told me that I smelled amazing. The day after, at a bar, a female friend told me that I smell like an orgasm while moaning into my ear.

I never go out without wearing it.

It's all about being subtle though - I definitely don't overdue it. That's a mistake.

Remember how your mind just incorporated that smell into the concept of what this lovely creature was and part of what made her irresistible? Why wouldn't you want to have that same effect on a girl?

As a matter of personal taste, Axe is to cologne as Budweiser is to beer: the shitty mass advertised product for people who buy they first thing they're told to buy. Get yourself down to Sephora or Macy's or whatever, try out a few scents, and then save like half the cost by just buying it online.

Here's a useful technique.

Hold the bottle slightly above your head in front of you. Give it a squirt or two and watch the particles of scent drift down till they range from head to waist. Then walk forward through this thin cloud of scent. This gives you a very even and subtle distribution of scent.

I think with cologne less is better because your body creates pheromones which will attract genetically compatible women. If your cologne is too strong then it will drown it out. It's better to have a such a subtle amount of cologne that the woman will have to get closer to get a decent whiff of it, thus having a far better chances of picking up on your pheromones.

I use cologne pretty much every day, 1-2 sprays in the morning on my shirt/neck area. I'm constantly told by women "you smell good".

If you don't overdo it, I think it's a no-brainer to wear it. I've never gotten any remote sense that it turns women off except when a guy walks in who just bathed himself in it. I try not to put it on within 1-2 hours of meeting women for that reason.

I like Kenneth Cole Reaction, it's not too strong. Also, I don't ever spray directly on me anymore... give it a spritz or 3 in the air and walk through the mist. That seems to give me the best amount. Maybe a little on the wrist so you can ask a girl if it smells good (without being creepy)

Nothin wrong with Old Spice body wash, but I'd say Axe is more of a teenage thing. Lipstick will never fall out of favor- I don't know how you'd get that impression.

Most guys (as far as I know) use cologne, so I'd say it's "normal"- it only becomes try-hard when you use too much.

I just buy whatever smells good when I try it out. I still get compliments on it, so I doubt it negatively affects me or anyone else who uses it cautiously.

That being said, you hardly ever need to use it, but a natural, "clean"-smelling cologne can be super attractive, the same way body wash is.

I have not gotten into cologne yet, but recently I've been rubbing a bit of this leftover Crew brand pomade stuff (I used to put it in my hair but have switched to something that works better) on my body. I got some good comments on how I smell recently. I really like the way it smells.

In terms of foreign fragrances, I only smell of my shampoo(axe something or other) and my deoderant (old spice). Aside from these, I'm eau naturelle. It's worked out for me quite well, and I've been told by all the women I pursue that I smell "nice and comforting," which I guess is a plus.

i use lacoste pour homme which i love. i spent a good 15 min smelling like all the colognes in the store a couple years ago and when i got to this one i was like YUP, this is it.

i'll hold it like a foot and a half away and spray each wrist and then rub them behind my ears and on my neck. puts it on really light so it's a nice little surprise.

I think the impact of scent and the sense of smell is way underrated. This sounds really stupid, and you may or may not believe me, but what I'm about to write is the truth. Sometime awhile back I did a pretty serious cycle of....well let's just say performance enhancing substances. I don't wear cologne when i go out. I had multiple girls tell me that my smell, the smell of my body made them horny or turned them on. I had not changed any hygiene products, so my only guess was they were smelling the ridiculous excess of testosterone that was coming out in my sweat. For that reason and that reason alone, I rarely wear cologne when I go out. If girls are naturally attracted to the smell of testosterone, which my little experiment proved to me, then I sure as shit don't want to cover up my smell. Obviously I'm not always excreting a shit load of testosterone, but what I am emitting i don't want to cover up. Also worth noting, I asked them all what specific smell they were talking about and all they could say was that I just smelled manly. I didn't have BO or anything and I couldn't detect any odor personally. Anyhow, I realize this is off track, but I guess my point is, scent and the sense of smell plays a big part in attraction so don't go out smelling like shit and try not to totally mask your natural smell beyond using deodorant.

Yes. I have a bottle of Davidoff Echo (gift for some translation work), and I have a bottle of Lacoste Style In Play. I use one of the two whenever I go out. Usually the Davidoff, I like to save the Lacoste for special situations.

Cologne is a fool's errand. Instead put a hint of something feminine on you. It'll cause women to wonder who the women was you were just in close proximity to. Hello preselection! I've been doing this for years in varying degrees and it works like a charm. Just got to find what works for your body chemistry and get the amount just right. Cologne was designed for people that don't shower. Do you shower? If so, don't use cologne.
