TWO PART [FR]. Second half in the comments.

First off, let me start by saying that I have every reason in the world to be a confident individual. However, for the sake of keeping things on track in this post--I will not go into some boring spiel about my accomplishments, etc. That’s lame shit. Instead, I want iterate that my primary focus these days is about improving one skill I am not particular good at all: picking up women.

Last night, I went to a show here in Ottawa. A band was playing that consisted of half-female, half-male bandmembers. My friend enticed me to go, and I was particularly glad I went when I saw a massive congregation of women there.

It took me a few minutes to get over AA, I had to sit by the bar, pretend like I’m ordering a drink, but really I was looking over at a HB8 talking to her friends. I sat there with a stupid grin on my face, trying to think of something to say. I will come back to her later in my post. You’ll see that when I approached her with absolutely nothing on my mind, I failed quite miserably.

In fact, the whole fucking night was kinda a failure show for me. Like the title suggests, I approached at least 10 different women last night and got ZERO #-closes. I mean, there’s always room for improvement, so I will acknowledge the fact that I might be pretty shitty at this stuff. But come on, after being on seddit for close to a year now am I really this fucking terrible? Last night was both a slap in the face, and a wake up call for me. I learned a lot of interesting lessons I wanted to share with you guys. I will progressively try to recall all of my approaches last night.

OPEN #1: I decide to swallow the bullet and approach HB8 and her friends. I approached as soon as they were about to leave. Two of four group of friends split off. I stop HB8 and her friend and start talking to them.

My mistake here was not engaging HB8’s friend. She seemed bored as I was doing all the talking. As soon as the opening band started, she grabbed HB8’s hand and said “Hey let’s go up there and get a good view”. HB8 starred back at me as her friend sucked her away into the void of people.

I saw her again later that evening, she was alone and I approached her. She tells me that she had to get out of the crowd of people because some guy was trying to grab her ass. I laugh lightly and tell her that some people have no class. At this point she tells me she has a boyfriend. Great...is this some shittest or something? I ignore the topic but she keeps bringing it up. When we part, I tell her “if you didn’t have a significant other, I wanted to grab a number off of you.” She smiles, and says “Too bad.”

TL;DR Engage women’s friends. You’ll last longer because they might steal your target away.

OPEN #2: Talked to two women sitting on a couch, asked them what the opening band was called. She tells me quite blatantly. I ask her stupid mundane shit, “Ever heard of them?” “What’s the other opening band called?” After about a minute of talking about nothing, I made a mistake that I will never repeat.

When I brought up school, she seemed bored with me. She told me she hated school, hated her Politics classes. That’s when I said something really lame “You moved all the way from Saskatchewan not to enjoy school?” I thought I was negging, turns out this was a little too much.

TL;DR Don’t bring up school/work during the first 2 minutes of opening.

*OPEN #3: * This is my closest fucking case of success last night. Open #3 was with this HB7 standing on the bench watching the show. I notice that somebody left their ID on the counter near her, so as I brush by her, I stop—turn and tap her shoulder. When she looks up at me she smiles right away. “Hey, can I ask you something real quick?” “Sure” “Did you forget your ID behind you there?” She shakes her head, and leans into inspect it.

I tease her about starring at the ID, “You’re not thinking of stealing it for money are you? Because that’s illegal and I’d have to arrest you.” The next few conversations are a blur. When the convo was dying out I remember I brought up silly questions: “Hey what do you think of these red lights over there?” “I don’t know” “What would you prefer red or blue lights?” “Red”

I just couldn’t keep it going for the life of me. She was totally unresponsive to ANYTHING I fucking said. So I decide to eject and try my luck. “Want to grab a coffee sometime?” She stares at the floor. “I don’t know”, she says. I lean in and say, “Well if you ever decide to change your mind my name is <> and I’ll be around here all night.” I depart.

TL;DR Unresponsive women are either really shy or not interested. Need to learn how to distinguish them both.

*OPEN #4: * Talked to some girl near the stage and asked her how she can see the band playing since there was lots of tall people in front of her. She turns to me and says, “With my eyes”.

I walked right by her and moved on.

OPEN #5 & OPEN #6: This is where I tried something I will NEVER EVER fucking repeat. I used classic opener, and it is HORRIBLE. I would advise anybody involved in PUA to not use this line as it always backfires. Never open with, “Hey who do you think lies more, girls or guys?” I opened two separate women with this line, and where it ended up going was “Guys lie more. You always lie more” Now you’re being put under the microscope in their eyes. Try to classify yourself when you’ve already put them in a bad mood.

I argued that women must lie more, and I made up some story to prove a point. To open #6, I asked who would lie more in a relationship, the answer? Guys. I couldn’t raise her interest level under this scrutiny.

All this opener does is fucking backfire. I would not suggest using it. It’s the simplest opener in the book, and its application was so much of a turnoff I don’t think I’ll ever use another opener that’s been predefined ever again.

New rule: Make up your own opener in the moment. Never use a predetermined/predefined opener you read somewhere in a book.

OPEN #7: I approached a girl sitting alone with her phone. Asked her if she knew if the singer was a boy or a girl. Bad opener. “Girl” She says. I ask her how she can tell the difference (guys, she looked like a fucking transvestite OK?) she threw it back at me, “Does it matter?” I shaked my head and walked away.
