There’s no context to suggest it’s not.

I remember reading a comment on reddit years ago where someone mathematically figured out that putting the seat and the lid down required equal work by whoever needed to use the toilet regardless of whether they were standing or sitting.

This is exactly how I feel about it. We should just get rid of the whole thing but unfortunately that seems highly unlikely to happen. So there's only one choice left: make women sign up too.

You're missing the point. They're not directly comparing circumcision to rape. They're comparing two things that are considered "part of growing up" in some cultures that are equally fucked up.

This isn't meant to be a detailed depiction. It's more of a generalization. In general, women tend to play things safe in their careers and end up mostly floating around in the middle. Men generally take more risks in their career which will either be successful and they will end up at the top or fail and end up at the bottom.
/r/MensRights28/01/19 03:10 AM

This is what I find funny about the whole rape culture thing. It’s the exact opposite of what feminists say it is. This kind of behavior towards men is so common and so normalized that no one bats an eye. But there’s total outrage when something like this happens to a woman. I have no idea what kind of reality blinders these people have on.

While I agree it should be ultimately up to men to make the changes the problem is that when men try to raise attention to issues no one listens or they get aggressively shut down. When women try to raise attention to issues, regardless of what it is, people listen. We need women to get the ball rolling.

They’re actually quite refreshing to read. I’ve seen plenty of misandrist comments from women and they get rightfully called out for their bullshit.

Yep. I used to use Twitter a lot then they started pandering to the SJW crowd but besides that, the format is one of the worst ways to have a conversation online. Deleted my Twitter, don't miss it.

Absolutely this. I had to pretty much stop coming here for about a year. I was dealing with depression and other shit in my life at the time and coming here just made things 100x worse. I had to distance myself from Men's Rights pretty much all together. I'm in a much better place now and can handle this stuff now. Take a break and come back when you're ready. Nothing wrong with that. If you're not in the right state of mind this stuff can really be a downer.

Sorry but this is a load of crap. Funny that there is no source to a statement from Netflix on the issue. There was a post here several days ago that did have an actual statement from Cassie that Netflix did in fact decline to carry the documentary but they did not give a reason. Everything else in this article is pure speculation and a headline grab.

Don't know if it will be out in time but this looks very promising http://circumcisionmovie.com/ Also I agree with what /u/Lethn said. You don't really need a full blown documentary. Just watching a video of one being done should be enough.

The way you get good at something is to obsess about it for years. Yep. I got into computers and particularly Linux around '06 and I spent endless hours teaching myself stuff every day. Went to college and breezed through it near the top of my class because of it.

I actually hear this quite frequently from women actually. Presumably because they don't have a penis and don't know how one really works and especially if they're in the U.S. they don't know how one is supposed to work as nature intended it.

Kids will make fun of other kids about their appearance no matter what. If it's not their penis it will be their nose, or their ears. Cutting off a part of someone else's body to avoid ridicule won't save them from said ridicule and isn't worth it at all.

If something is pro-female, does that really by definition make it anti-male? No but it makes it completely nonsensical to claim you're also supporting men's issues with a gendered name like "feminism". That would be be like a feminist saying "feminism is fighting to stop global warming too"

It's interesting how we keep seeing people who once called themselves feminists take a really deep look at feminism and then want nothing to do with feminism once they uncover all the ugliness and hate under the thinly veiled guise of "equality". Really says a lot about feminism.

Society has no problem endlessly abusing men, but now that feminists are trying to abuse little boys things may get sticky. Eh, young boys have been on the receiving end of this crap just as much as men. The problem is that it's done so subtly to all ages that no one really cares. Now that they are trying to force these "male privilege" lessons everyone sees it for what it is; bullshit and sexist because it's no longer being done subtly under everyone's nose but blatantly out in the open now. I think this should be on a women's sub since it is an issue within feminism And that is one of the big problems with feminism. You will find that if you try to address legitimate problems with feminism with the feminist community you will get shot down hardcore. Hey I remember you from when I used to lurk /r/AskMen a lot. I love your writings. I remember you posted a bunch of your stuff on imgur and I was sad when I didn't see anything new for a long time. Glad to see you're still writing. Keep up the good work.

I thought I recognized the name "dakru". He used to post in /r/AskMen a lot and made a ton of really good posts. He's written many great things arguing feminism. You can find them here. I was always hoping he would write more because he is so good at dismantling the feminist narrative. Looks like I found where I can read more of his stuff.

It was a little too feminist leaning IMO. Saying things like the wage gap exists but we really can't prove it.

But the girls mainly get just a nick on the clitoral hood. Someone get the pitchforks. This obviously needs to be put to an end before we even begin to think about stopping MGM. /s

The scary thing is that feminists have actually video taped themselves burning her books. Funny how many feminists disown her because she's "not a real feminist" yet no one makes a peep about the absolute crazies like Valenti & co. Then they say NAFALT!!! Really says a lot about the movement when they turn a blind eye or even openly support the crazies and disown the logical people. Maybe, just maybe, we'd believe that NAFALT if you didn't do that shit.

the former substitute claimed prior abusive relationships left her vulnerable to this kind of inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old student. Holy. Fucking. Shit. It's always a man's fault. For fuck's sake I can't take this shit anymore.

if the people watching are also ignorant they won't even realize that the characters are wrong. And that's very scary. Next you're going to see "I'm circumcising my son because Mila Kunis said...." WTF
/r/MensRights26/07/16 03:24 PM

I must admit that the lack of understanding of foreskin is pretty funny. I think it's quite sad. It just perpetuates circumcision out of ignorance.

I can't believe I'm going to ask this question because it annoys me when I see this question show up in almost every single post here (especially ones where it's clearly obvious what the answer is) but how does this relate to MR? This is an outrage and infuriating for sure and I don't know how this isn't considered abusive behavior but I don't see what this has to do with MR. Could someone kindly explain?

If it is voluntary, and the man in question is over 18 and can explicitly give their consent, who are we to say that's a problem? I don't think anyone here is arguing that point. By all means if you're old enough to make informed decisions about your body and you want to chop your dick off, go for it. I don't give a shit about what you do with your body. The key being on you making a decision about your own body when you're old enough. This is where we take issue with doing it to infants who can…

I wouldn't even say it's solely because of how they attacked their target audience. Most people I've talked to say it looks plain stupid and have no idea about the whole SJW shitstorm that it turned into.

I've always seen people complaining about the controversy and rarely the movie. I've seen plenty of both. There's tons of critiques of it that don't even touch on the SJW shit fountain that ensued. It's just a plain bad movie that's trying to capitalize on the franchise name decades later with shit acting. It really has nothing to do with it being an all female cast. The fact that everyone involved turned it into an issue of misogyny is just the cherry on top of all the other reasons not to go s…

I think most people realize that it's an automated system. The bigger problem is that once a page gets unpublished it's hard as fuck to get it republished. At that point you are dealing with a person who probably has their own biases and will hide behind Facebook's policy.

This is exactly what I was thinking. It sounds like OP grew up just accepting whatever she was told, didn't bother to question any of it, and never dared to think for herself. Letting people tell you what to think and believe will seriously wreck havoc across your entire life. You'll never be successful in anything that way. Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. - Steve Jobs

One of my best friends is a single mother and she deserves at least 2 days a year. And there's nothing wrong with that. Just don't go on a crusade to steal the day from legitimate fathers. Chill. Edit: See the 2015 Angel Soft ad or the recent Old Navy T-Shirt. That's the kind of shit this is talking about.

"Local woman shocked to find consequences of decades of elimination of men's interests from society; blames men." Nailed it. I was thinking this exact same thing and you worded better than what I came up with.
/r/MensRights19/06/16 01:02 AM
1

I completely agree with you. It is justified in your case. I have no problem with what you're doing. It's the people who try to turn it into a second mother's day because "mothers are so special and fathers don't matter" that are the problem.
/r/MensRights18/06/16 08:19 PM
1

If you're a single parent and want to observe the other holiday for yourself I'm fine with that. No issue whatsoever. The problem that people have and what this image is trying to address is with the people that take it to another level and start to crusade it all over the place. Basically trying to hijack the day from all fathers. Then there are those who go even further and turn it into father bashing day because all fathers are deadbeat pieces of shit right?

/r/MensRights09/06/16 02:53 PM

I wouldn't be too sure about that. A lot more people would agree with passing unfair laws that would favor women because "you're sexist if you don't support women" and because of how feminism has made people view women as so fragile they'll shatter to pieces if you look a woman the wrong way so they need stuff that favors them in every direction, and of course because it's politically correct. This feminist bullshit has basically become the new "think of the children" argument. You could basical…

that MRAs were pushing to legalize rape so women would be "forced" ( cough cough) into watching what they wear and who they interact with. Where in the fucking hell did you get this from? I don't even know where to begin with this shit. No rational person here thinks rape is OK and certainly no is trying to legalize rape. That's just the most absurd thing I've ever heard. I've long thought MR, like some Euro third parties, should have no permanent alignment with either political left or political right. This is how I've always felt. I don't know why people turn MR into a left/right thing.

Except, everyone has to explain even simple things or tasks in detail to idiots of every gender and race. I can confirm. I always have to explain simple things in detail to some of my (male) coworkers because if I don't they're guaranteed to fuck something up.
/r/MensRights25/05/16 01:31 PM

I'm pretty sure the MRM doesn't care how you dress. We don't give a shit how you dress, what you look like, what your race is, or even what your sex is (contrary to what you may have been told by others in an attempt to slander us as "woman haters") We care about men's issues. I would prefer that it is abolished. But if it's not it should be applied equally meaning women should have to register as well. However I think this is pretty revealing that women are seen as more valuable since only now they're looking at abolishing it after the law now technically would allow for forcing women to register. And heaven forbid we send women off to get killed in a war. Perfect example of male disposability.

I don't have time to write a whole in-depth review but here are the key points Don't make it a "them vs us" issue. Bashing feminism that way will likely be a big turn off for a lot of people. You can still promote men's rights without bringing feminism into it. This not only looks a lot better but it will feel a lot less hostile. Marketing 101 tip: promote your product positively without bashing your competition. Way too much text. People likely aren't going to take the time to read this. A bull…

A lot of MRAs like CHS. But what's quite odd and I think says a lot about feminism is that a lot of feminists won't accept her as a feminist. Usually they'll say things like "she's not a true feminist". Apparently you're not a true feminist if you don't believe in the patriarchy and victim mentality.

That's just another way we are different from feminism. They don't welcome men at all even though they say they do. I just read an article recently of a feminist bashing male feminists. So much for the "we welcome male allies" bullshit. A lot of the most well known MRAs are women and we truly do welcome women in the MRM.

Who wants to bet people will just see this as huge progress for women and/or how women are smarter than men and not even give a thought that maybe men are falling behind. Edit: Accidentally a letter

That's odd, most men are very protective of their ball sack.
/r/MensRights16/08/15 08:01 PM

There certainly are more women like you. Some of the most prominent voices of the MRM are women and I'm always glad to see more women stand up for men. I love hearing from women about men's issues. It's so refreshing to see.

Sadly if you want this taken care of you'd probably have to make it all about the female janitors' feelings and well being. They might be offended by a man flaunting his male privilege by using a urinal. Or some pervert man pig might try to rape one of them or some other bullshit logic like that.

They also like to try to dismiss the issue with "but women attempt it more"
/r/MensRights05/08/15 08:28 PM

not about claiming women have none or attacking people who claim they do. I don't think you'll find many people here who do this. Most MRAs will not deny that women have problems and that they should be addressed. We just want men's issues to get equal attention and dedicated places for their discussion.

Fuck everything about this story. This made my blood boil. How the fucking hell is he supposed to get a job? Almost everyone these days does online applications. That judge is a complete asshole with some personal agenda, and the senator is a fucking douche. Also, even if you asked for a driver's license or something, there's plenty of fake ones. Right because phimosis is such a common problem. And in cases of phimosis alternative treatments like steroid creams don't exist. Nope. Better just cut it off preemptively. You know we should start removing breast tissue from infant girls because getting a mastectomy due to breast cancer is painful. How about staying out of making permanent decisions on other's bodies? Last I checked my penis is attached to my body, not my parent's and not my parent's doctor. It's not their decision to make. As …

You seem to be saying that circumcised people are only happy being circumcised because it's all they've ever known, but uncircumcised people don't know what it's like to be circumcised. This is a case of arguing a certain way because you already have your mind made up, because you are obviously applying a double standard. It's common sense that if you remove thousands of nerve endings you're going feel less. There's not much point in knowing what that would be like unless there's some sorcery ab…

I don't really see anything wrong with a guy not wanting a woman in his life. A woman who says she doesn't need a man is seen as a strong, independent, empowered woman. Grrrrrl power! A man who says he doesn't need a woman is an extremist? Yes, it is. But everyone will not see it like that because of how misandry is so acceptable in society. It takes something as extreme as "jews welcome" or "blacks welcome" to make everyone see how fucked up it really is. It's a sad state we're in.

The majority of men don't feel discriminated against in their daily. Any facts to back this up? It sounds to me like you need to step back from the us vs. them ideology because you're turning this into a "who has it worse" argument.

Women do have a harder time regarding most issues in our society I don't think it's fair to say either has it worse. We all face problems. Maybe not the same ones but we all face problems.

Male suicide - No one seems to care about this Men's (mental) health - Again, no one seems to care. Everything is women's health this and that and breast cancer this and that. Prostate cancer? What the fuck is a prostate? And when it comes to mental health no one takes men seriously. Men supposedly have some kind of perfect privileged life where we get things handed to us on silver platters for no reason other than being male and everything is pink ponies and rainbows. It's not possible to come to a conclusion since we don't know all the details. So categorizing it as harmless is very dismissive. It's not good to be afraid of an entire gender. It's not fair when people assume all men are rapists and it wouldn't be fair if this kid grew up to think all women were sexual abusers.

Even if childbirth were the worst pain ever, I think focusing on the experience of pain takes away from the significance of the event itself. I mean, seriously, think about what childbirth is. A living person is coming out of another person's body. A person is bringing another person into the world - a new person who was created, developed, nurtured, and who lived inside of her body for approximately 40 weeks. That's the first thought I had when I saw my son for the first time - this person's wh…

On depression, my experiences and observations have been similar. Obviously it's anecdotal in both our cases but for me it was women who pretty much unanimously either just couldn't comprehend the situation or felt that I, or the people I've known, should just 'man up'. I can't say I received a particularly impressive degree of compassion from the men either, but their reaction tends to be much more supportive in that they'll try to mitigate the situation to some extent to make the awkwardness (…

If she unilaterally changes course content without permission from higher ups, it most likely is a breach of policy and puts her job at risk unnecessarily. It sounds like she was not responsible for the content so I don't think her job is at risk for simply not passing a complaint along. I'm not trying to be dismissive, I just have doubt that the administrators will take it seriously. Edit: NM I think I see what you're saying.

Maybe I'm just very pessimistic, but it's hard not to be skeptical when most of the time when we bring up an issue it gets shot down or ignored. Even if she does pass it along to the administrators I feel like nothing will change. They probably won't see this as sexist since to most people sexism is a one way street where only women can be victims. And if she doesn't pass this along how would it cost her her job? Does she have an obligation to pass things like this to the higher ups?

The word itself doesn't bother me but its misuse bothers me. There are certain cases where it is useful to warn people about something that might have a bad affect on them. Such as exposing someone who suffers from PTSD to something that would remind them of their trauma. I struggle with self harm and certain topics or images can set me off so it's good to have advanced warning.

I wrote something a few days ago that is relevant to your experience in computer science. Linky I'm a guy but I can confirm that there are other women who have had a positive experience in CS.

My only concern is are other subreddits like /r/TumblrInAction accepting of the issues that men face? Are we going to get downvoted to hell for posting something that points out hypocrisy or blatant misandry?

Yes! I really wanted her to make a video on this.

This is ridiculous. I still want to know how the dongle joke was "sexist" and "oppressive to women". Yes the tech field is male dominated. Why is this such a bad thing? Why is everyone pushing so hard to get more women in this field? I think everyone forgets that there are plenty of female dominated fields as well. There are going to be some fields that are dominated by one sex or the other. Why can't we just accept this? I studied computer science. There were a few ladies in just about every on…

So are there any internships or scholarships specifically for men to get them interested in the field?

But Hamad said the policy will help the RSU protect women’s issues, which “have historically and continue to today to be silenced.” How ironic.
/r/MensRights24/03/13 01:02 AM

Please frame it as an issue similar to how women in tech is framed. You read my mind. The whole women in technology thing gets so much attention while everyone forgets about female dominated fields. Nobody makes a huge deal out of the lack of male nurses for instance.
/r/MensRights23/03/13 08:43 PM

I really liked their response. Towards the end they basically said we regret nothing.
/r/MensRights22/03/13 10:40 PM

a male praised for something a female said earlier, unnoticed. Oh this is bullshit. This happens to everyone not just women. I'm sure we've all been in a situation where we made a funny comment but nobody heard it and seconds later someone else says the exact same thing you said and everyone laughs their asses off.
/r/MensRights22/03/13 03:43 AM

I found this gem in the comments. Can anyone say creep shaming and white knighting at its finest?
/r/MensRights22/03/13 03:22 AM

PlayHaven said they had conducted a "thorough investigation". I'm wondering how "thorough" it really was. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't he fired very shortly after her tweet? Wasn't he also fired before he made an apology? So wouldn't that mean he got fired for a then baseless claim by some woman?
/r/MensRights22/03/13 03:12 AM

I'm not telling her what her beliefs are. I'm saying I don't believe what she said.
/r/MensRights22/03/13 03:01 AM
2

She may have said that but I have a very hard time believing it. Her actions were straight out of the feminist playbook. We've seen numerous incidents before that have played out in exactly the same way. Besides, she also likened herself to Joan of Arc in the name of equality.
/r/MensRights22/03/13 02:47 AM
2

That would be true if there was something similar for men. But there's not.
/r/MensRights20/03/13 08:50 PM
19

So basically what we have here is a guy made a reference to a part of the male anatomy, and thus it is the subjugation of women and creating an actively oppressive environment I swear feminists think that a penis is the ultimate form of oppression. Don't even make an innuendo about a penis. You're oppressing women.
/r/MensRights19/03/13 09:51 PM
15

And this will just be used as more ammunition for feminists to say why CS is hostile towards women and full of a bunch of misogynist pigs and why we need more women in CS. No doubt this will end up on this list soon enough. Some of these are just ridiculous.
/r/MensRights19/03/13 06:00 PM

The way to work around this is just to tell them it's not the issue at hand and acknowledge that while it is a problem, it's not the one you're discussing at the moment. This is kind of what I was thinking. I figured though that someone might try to argue its relevance. I felt the same way about asking this. I know how much they hate it when their discussions get derailed.
/r/MensRights13/03/13 10:40 PM
2

What the fuck? I'm not married or in a relationship, but this is ridiculous. I'm sick of being seen as a criminal just because I'm a man. And what about all those men who are victims of DV but never get asked that question?

I know that there is a lot of silencing tactics used online but with what happened at U of T and things like this, it is becoming more and more apparent that they want to silence anyone that doesn't agree with them.

The idea of an IMD has existed for a long time. It was only somewhat recently that it officially became a day. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Men's_Day#Early_background

To all the downvoted posts at the bottom. Yes there is actually an International Men's Day. Nov 19. It's only fair we also recognize International Women's Day. We both have a day so yay for equality! The only thing that needs to be fixed in this situation is that IMD needs an equal amount of attention.

"Good" MRA's care about acceptance of feminine men, being able to cry in public and sharing their feelings I thought this is what we were going for? Trying to destroy double standards and bullshit things like men not being allowed to show emotion.

Some of the comments on that article make me want to facepalm. A lot of them are trying to turn it around and claim that this is actually a girl problem. I'm not even going to waste my time quoting the bullshit.

Thank you for your support. I think I'm very similar to your boyfriend in regards to acting feminine. Kittens and cats just make me melt. Anyways, I'm glad there are women that actually like this in a man. I've often thought that my strong feminine side would be a big turn off.

I've seen this site before and was annoyed that it only talked about sexism from one side. With a pretty gender neutral name you would think they would accept the fact that sexism is a two way street.

thatsthejoke U of T wants to ban and shut down AVoiceForMen claiming that it incited violence against the U of T protesters (which isn't true) and disclosed personal information about them. Hahaha let me get this straight. He says: and that women "are deemed lower than men in today's society". But then goes on to say: "but then women would be underrepresented". So this guy thinks that men are smarter than women. Fighting sexism with sexism. /facepalm

It happens numerous times per day. It can even happen in your sleep. And I would be willing to say that most of the time there is nothing sexual behind it, just a random erection. Sometimes it's annoying when you get a random really hard one and you're like down boy, down! Though sometimes actually thinking about it makes it worse and stay around longer. You kind of have to ignore them to some degree and just let them run their course.
/r/MensRights07/02/13 09:33 PM

Welcome! (please don't say that men don't have their own gender issues) I don't think anyone here would say that. Men certainly do have gender issues. The problem is though, that when we try to talk or do something about these issues we get scoffed and laughed at, "what about the menz", called women hating misogynists, and told that women's problems are much worse therefore our problems are irrelevant.
/r/MensRights07/02/13 06:24 AM

Hmm so men pay more for car insurance because men cause more accidents. This is considered OK. Then women should have to pay more for health insurance because they use it more. (I really don't think there should be any discrimination bullshit going on here) But now women will pay less for health insurance and receive more services? What is this I don't even
/r/MensRights06/02/13 06:31 PM

The ignorance and naiveity are disgusting. Erections are not voluntary. They can happen at any time and in response to stimulation. Let me repeat that. Stimulation can cause an erection even if the man does not want to have sex. Saying that it wasn't rape because a man had an erection is like saying it wasn't rape because a woman got wet.

This is one of the worst justifications I have ever seen.
/r/MensRights06/02/13 02:29 PM

What do you suggest as an appropriate action? If we do nothing this behavior will continue to be seen as acceptable. Just as with all double standards, no one will stop to think twice about this. So I don't think "don't play it" is going to open anyone's eyes. Are some things exaggerated that are "offensive"? Sure, but I think in this case it crosses a line that is unacceptable.

I'm glad that you're interested in men's issues. It makes me discouraged to see so many psychologists that specialize in women's issues, but never have I seen one that specializes in men's issues. Sorry I don't have any advice or recommendations but I wish you luck.
