Wow this is crazy to see how many others had similar experiences. My ex was a Pakistani Muslim, first generation. He changed massively over the course of our 6 year relationship. When we were engaged and I didn't move forward with the marriage the exact way his family wanted, the abuse got real scary real fast. He was truly and deeply my best friend but at the end of the day I was just property to him.

Thank you so much.. you gave me the term I needed to search and read up about this option. I also appreciate your neutral take on the desire for a biological child.

You have a really good point. I have just met so, so many terrible men I am confused. People have told me that when I meet someone who is not abusive I can except to feel underwhelmed and to just be patient. He has a lot of very solid good traits and I guess it's just scary to feel like I might never find someone with their life together who treats me nicely. I guess that is desperate. Also I do enjoy the companionship and fun adventures he plans but yeah. Time to stop being a loser and go on ad…

I found a HVM. On paper he checks all the boxes I had for the partner I'm looking for. But I just don't feel like he understands me. He doesn't make me laugh. I don't feel all melty for him. He also doesn't text back in the same day which might seem petty because we are two busy adults but I want someone so excited to have some banter with me at some point in the day that it is hard to resist saying hello. Super attentive and generous with his time on the weekend but during the week it's mostly …

Hey girl! I recently posted about BJJ on here too. I second everything you said but also how much it does for my mental health. Grappling allows me to release my emotions like nothing else. It's also healing to have a physical contact with men (and women) that is not sexual. You're both fighting as hard as you can, your brain just can't go there. Of course there are alway occasional creeps, or sometimes a training partner is really attractive and you have chemistry but in the moment it's all abo…

Lol you're right, I have heard it's a lot like that with girl gamers too. You really need FDS mentality to keep it in check. It can be so easy to get swept up when you're single and outnumbered by guys. You have to detach and remember they aren't worth swooning over just because they are attractive and seemingly respectful but PickMe's will just have a field day with the amount of options.

Yes! The absolute best part. I wish more women who struggle with these problems were told about martial arts. Even young girls can get the benefits of that from it. I hated my big thighs forever and now I am so proud of them for how strong they are. A guy called me thunder thighs today in a joking way because he couldn't escape them. That would of made old me cry for months and now I just feel like I have a super power.

It's so strange how the behavior is so predictable. I imagine being a dude in a female dominated work environment or hobby. I feel like the majority would be respect, if not admiration for it.

That is so badass. I'd imagine it was just as hard taking shit from other girls at that age as it was navigating your teammates. The guys that do get it and treat you well really gives a person hope. Those should be the ones allowed to procreate lol

That's really cool and I could totally see how different guys might interpret being the lead. I'm curious, what kinds of guys take ballroom dancing (age, is there a type)? Are they outnumbered by ladies? I'd be interested in trying that if I ever get more coordinated on my feet.

That's a really good point! In the women's self defense they had us practice chokes you would never use in the sport but would be very effective in a sexual assault situation.

I love that! That means you guys have quality women who encourage other women to join and keep coming back.

Yes, you captured the exact situation. I'm sorry this happened to you, getting head butted is the worst. I'm still spazzy but I try my best not to hurt people lol but you're right guys in these situations just do weird shit. This one dude body slammed his elbow into my shin. Literally took months to heal. 🤦

100% I forgot to mention this. My girl friend joined me and she was the only one I partnered with for months. There came a time where we had to train with others to improve but we can read the room and still go together if everyone there that day is a creep or is notoriously smelly.

Oops didn't see that you said those categories exist in the workplace too. Not surprising sadly.

I feel that but with my career fulfilled, I would like a husband and children. Not saying it's for everyone but since I've accomplished my professional goals, it'd be nice to have a partner.

I dumped my fiance after he headed to a strip club after we had a fight. He tried to hide it but I found out and that was the last straw. Before that it was a porn addiction. I'm sure if I stuck around it would have evolved into paying for sex. Maybe not for everyone but definitely someone like him. I don't want that in a relationship.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
