I have paid "child support" for 18 years and have to go to 23 in my state because the kid is going to college (which is great). What is not great is paying child support to the higher earner. The "visitation" arrangement was on a two week cycle, she got eight days to my six...That is only one day from 7 and 7, and would not make a material difference to either parent or the child except for the allocation of child support. The system is rigged.

Here, this poem does a good job of explaining... Crash Test Dummies: Circumcision Poem The foreskin is mucosal tissue like the lips of your mouth... touch your lips compared to the skin just around them. Your lips are much much more sensitive. Yeah, well same for the foreskin.

You left out the Family Court system and how it encourages and rewards mothers to separate and seek sole custody (not shared custody) and receive tax free child support for 18 to 24 years. Fathers become mere "visitors" in their children's lives.

And there it is. The fact is, gentlemen, there are absoulutely two sets of rules. One for women. One for men. And, for the most part that is OK with me, with one notable exception... the Family Courts. That is where the rubber meets the road, so to speak. Who ever heard of being a "visitor" to your own children, and paying child support that goes to the benefit of the mother and doesn't make it in any meaningful way to benefit the children. This sub used to be laser focused on this issue, and sh…

My son is now eight and has had no issues with his uncircumcised penis, nor with UTIs. He does not yet retract it to clean, nor even makes "pee balloons". UTI may be from another cause. My neighbor who was advised by their doctor to circumcise their 4 year old because of his UTIs now regret doing so... the UTIs were from a different cause and now they have to do painful retractions and apply ointment to prevent adhesions. Although there are some other legitimate issues for MRAs, to me the gender bias of the Courts, in particular Family Courts, is the raison d'etre. Add to that the lack of support groups for poverty, abuse, and mental illness, and it is clear that the movement is legitimate. Finally, in order not to be trapped into fatherhood, we need male birth control that is better than the sensitivity killing condom.

Pro-choice for the man, too? The abortion issue has clouded for me since the birth of my son (and subsequent custody battle). I used to be firmly "pro-choice" as defined by the current US society which claims "her body, her choice". But there are other people involved who are large stakeholders in the outcome of the decision... the father and the child. I think "her body, her choice" oversimplifies the issue (although the mother is clearly the second largest stakeholder affected by the decision,…

Over seven years in court and still fighting for my son...plenty of hard times. Well into six digits. Money or no, I have dedicated my life to being my son's dad and fighting a rigged court system. If you don't think fatherhood is worth it (for the child and the father, and even the mother), you are part of the problem. This is not hypothetical for me. I am not giving up. Whether you have an attorney or not, you need to file a Motion for Contempt with the Family Court (in Texas where the order was issued). An attorney would certainly make it easier and probably do a far better job. Within the Contempt Motion you will state that your desired relief is to be paid the monies owed (by garnishing wages) or incarceration. The Police and the CS Collection Unit are correct that they do not (yet) have the authority to do anything about the delinquency... at least not unti…

Actually, I am looking to spark a legitimate discussion. A quote I admire is the following: “You never change things by fighting the existing reality. I was severely mistreated in Court in NY while fighting for custody of my son. It is a long story that went on for five years and cost a literal fortune. We are now in the appeal process and will probably get the first decision thrown out. It is an interesting thing about divorce. If there are no children involved, it is just a business deal about money. If children are involved, you fight for you children as if they are more important than anything else in your own life, because they are. Thing…

Additionally, the Judge will be reluctant to break up the brother and sister relationship. It should be mentioned how meaningful that is to your son. Also, see if you can get some friends, relatives, MRA's or anyone to sit in the pews during your case and quietly jot down notes. Also, get the business card of the transcriber so you can get transcripts if you need them. Keep your cool. Make your case. Do not disparage the mother, it will look bad to the Judge. What about sports? How will you and your co-parent arrange for the boy to participate in weekend sports?
/r/MensRights08/03/13 12:30 PM

At this point she has already won, and handily. What she is doing now is abusing the custodial power over the child that the Court granted her... and attempting to crush any affectionate relationship between the boy and myself.
/r/MensRights26/12/12 06:01 PM

No. But in your scenario the dad is the "visit" parent and the mother would then be the "custodial" parent. She has all (most of the) the rights. And he has (almost) none. She holds the cards... and the kids.
/r/MensRights26/12/12 02:41 AM

In the above case the Police would be able to take action because the Mother is the Custodial parent. They would make the Father very very sorry... then he would get screwed in Court.

Good advice. I do not and will not. However it is done to me. There was a period when he was three when he would say to me "you're a bad person." That stung a lot, especially because I was sacrificing so much to fight to be involved in his life.

What is "NAFALT"? Ah, I googled: "Not All Feminists Are Like That". I actually agree with the NAFALT concept, but there is a certain sense of entitlement for women (and mothers in particular) that is encouraged by the biased Court system. This bias carries down through police departments and social sercives, legal services for women (but not for men), the VAWA act (not violence in a relationship act or some other non-gender focus). It goes on and on and is an industry that starts with the Prince…

First, I admit that "revenge" is too strong of a word in the title. This is not about revenge, but giving the boy, and allowing the boy to love both parents, which does not currently happen (as evidenced by the mother's actions). After five years of letting things like this slide and enumerable "canceled" visits by the mother, I am finally taking the offensive. I understand your point and fighting for fighting's sake is not meritorious, but a parent that prevents the child from having a meaningf…

That someone up-thread was me. You cannot kidnap your own child. Even though I have "visitation rights", she has legal custody of the child. Based on our history and the way her phone goes to voicemail, I think she is out of the country with my son, which she has every legal right to do (except the violation of visitation prescribed in our Order)... I simply have no idea. Unfortunately our Order does not require her to inform me of his whereabouts (this will change).

Societal norms and the sense of chivalry are what must be killed to level the system. I think Gay Marriage will do a lot to further the cause. All of a sudden the Courts will have to take the actual merits of the case into consideration and stop the knee jerk decisions to award custody to the mother. I hope that this new pragmatic approach will yield results in man/woman custody cases as well.

Haha ... this does not work. The Police tell you to take it up with the Courts for enforcement. Sometimes, they will call or threaten the other party by writing a report in order to produce the desired results, but because it is a civil matter the Police's only power is to be a witness, and perhaps an entity to call Child Protective Service if it is that bad.

This is not the action of the Courts themselves per se... this is us tactically working a clunky bureaucratic system that is biased against us. Edit: The irony will not be lost on the Judge. I use All Call Recorder Deluxe (Deluxe has no ads). It works fine recording the ambient sound of all my calls and filing them chronologically with a phone number and time stamp. The problem i have is with my handset, you can only hear the other party faintly unless you are on speaker phone. I hear that other handsets do not have this issue. I am using a MyTouch Slide 3G from T-Mobile. Review you state's laws to make sure you are allowed (i.e. is it a "one party" state?). Good luck.

THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON WE NEED MEN'S RIGHTS ~is because of the biased Child Custody and Child Support awards, and the biased Family Courts. My son is five and a half years old. His mother has custody and wants to have him circumcised. The Doctor she chose was playing along, he's a urologist and this is his bread and butter. My son was (wrongly) diagnosed with a "penile adhesion" just so that they (my ex and the urologist) could justify circumcision. I took him to another pediatrician who said that there were no adhesions and that his peepee was completely normal. I am in court to stop her. Speak to them about Custodial Parent statistics and their unfairness. Currently I believe that the mother gets custody 86% of the time, the father 6%, and joint custody is 8%. If there were "equity" it would be bore out in the statistics. Also, fathers are every bit as capable to bring up a child as a mother...especially since the invention of the baby bottle. If women should have equality in the work place, men should have equality in the family.

Same old shit... It is up to her to follow that advice until you bring a Change of Custody action to the court. 'Change of Custody' does not necessarily mean change of custodial parent, but can mean just a change in visitation allotments. I am in the same battle... obviously. Good luck my friend. Love your children and keep good notes and proof of her digressions. As my attorneys say "what is bad for the children is good for the case", it is a sick reality we live.

There may be some medical benefit to circumcision, but that is not great enough to justify the amputation of a sensitive functional part of the male body... especially when there is such an unbalanced application of medical reasoning and ethics between male and female genital modification. I am not opposed to circumcision for medical necessity; but that, routine circumcision is not. Condoms and cleanliness prevent STIs, not circumcision. There are different degrees of FGM, some of which are not as intrusive as circumcision, some of which are more severe. All in all, though, there is an inequity of moral and ethical outrage when it comes to male versus female genital modification on children, regardless of the degree.

Sounds like the girlfriend is the problem... but you have his son and you have way more power than she. He will come around. Just stay cool. In an ideal world, the father would get to see his son more than 4 days a month, grow to love him, and be willing to give the shirt off his back to support him. What actually happens is that the [custodial parent] uses the child as the instrument to cause harm to the father, the father loves the child but resents the situation... and rarely gets to see him anyway, and the kid is the one who gets hurt. Although the Courts are the ultimate authority, they are not the best solution. Put the bittern…

One would think that if one gets their hours cut or loses one's job, one's child support payment would be adjusted to reflect one's new income reality... and in theory the system is supposed to do just that. A paper written in 1949 which asserts that penile cancer is a result of a lack of intelligence is not good science. Does it do this, really? Maybe you should read the damned paper.
/r/MensRights05/07/12 08:12 PM
1

Firstly, read this to understand how to find good scientific material, and to see why that letter is not impressive. You should apply your own advice. Regarding the article The Fate of the Foreskin to which I linked earlier: ...and The Fate of the Foreskin, written with Spence's encouragement, remains a model of perceptive and pungent writing on the frontier of fact and fashion which is familiar territory in medicine. From James Spence Medallist, 1976 Douglas Montagu Temple Gairdner, the highest…

But to say it is wrong because it provides no medicinal benefits is purely incorrect! When do I say this?
/r/MensRights05/07/12 06:35 PM

Actually it is a famous letter that was published in the BJM in 1949 and it is largely responsible for the Brits, and all Commonwealth nations, not circumcising. Also... it is pretty clear that CIRP is not the source... for any of the articles they link to. Also... find me valid refutations from unbiased sources... good luck. [Is it your position that the male foreskin is a congenital flaw that needs to be surgically corrected? If not, what is your position?]
/r/MensRights05/07/12 05:45 PM
2

Here you go.... British Journal of Medicine 1949 A clue to the problem may lie in the exceptionally low hygienic standards of patients with penile cancer, which has struck several observers. Dean (1935), reviewing 120 cases, writes: "Men with penis cancers gave the impression of being less intelligent, as a class, than other cancer patients. Not only had the majority ignored for long periods the precancerous state of physical annoyance, filth, and odoriferous discharges, but also it was not unus…

Yes, but circumcision can reduce that risk further. Read the 1940's letter in the BJU that started the anti-circumcision ball rolling in Britain. No they are not. Again, circumcision reduces the risk of STIs. I fail to see how that is a red herring. Really... according to what valid study conducted by what non-biased entity? Why then do we not see the US with the lowest STI rates (we circumcise the most)?
/r/MensRights05/07/12 11:54 AM
2

You are not serious... are you? The risk of Penile Cancer is already far less than 1%. The STI/HPV arguments are red herrings. We do not remove women's dangly bits even though they have the same (or worse) cleanliness issues. We have had hot running water in this (and other) countries for over a century. We do not remove girls breasts at birth to prevent the scourge of breast cancer. These are but excuses the pediatric urology industry is throwing out to try and save their cash cow.

From a paper I am currently writing: Anatomically, the foreskin is present in both male and female human anatomy and is called the “prepuce”. On women it forms the clitoral hood which is highly enervated on its interior (dorsal side) and performs a key sensual and sexual functions. So much so, that in order for a woman who has had sex reassignment surgery to be able to achieve orgasm as a man…“In phalloplasty, the dorsal hood of the clitoris is incorporated into the neoscrotum...” It should be n…

Fact of the matter is, the foreskin has and protects the most sensitive skin on the male body. By the time puberty is finished, most women won't be able to tell the difference because it will have retracted. The claim of cleanliness is easily accomplished with washing (not to mention the protection offered by the foreskin against abrasion). Women have all kinds of dangly bits in which bacteria can grow, and we don't clamor to cut them off. And Jesus said it was unnecessary (theoretically). And o…

Cool Black Chick is right. It is because of men like this that we have many of our problems. I am not speaking about his Judgeship. As a man, he has discredited all of us. This is why we don't get equal parenting time, and are automatically seen as abusers if the cops get called. This is cause and root of our problems. That is why this is very much an MR issue.

All the "Right to Choose" stuff aside, the purpose of circumcision in the Judaism is to create a covenant with God. This used to be doen at the "coming of age", the bar mitzva. In even earlier days (books 1 and 2 of the Torah) the covenant was made with animal sacrifice. This leads me to a question for the Jews: - Are women somehow inferior or unfit to make a covenant with the Lord?

I used the same studies and arguments in court to put a restraining order on my ex and prevent her from having my son circumcised. I was very fortunate to have met Marilyn Milos and many other Intactivists. We won the case in Westchester, New York or all places.

I believe it was 2006 or 2007. I want to know because I reference it frequently as an example of how inequitable the system is towards men. I think it was in Maine or Massachusetts (but not in NY... I am in NY). The child was a daughter that he thought was his for three years until genetic testing.

Everywhere: ** Forensic Psychiatrists** give the Judge a peg to hang their hat on. Be very very careful about what you say to a Forensic Psychiatrist. Do not speak ill of the other party. Speak highly of your love for the children. The Forensic Reports tend to twist around the things you say against you... so less is better. It gives them less to work with.

USA Advice: ** Do NOT call your "ex" as a witness** if you are pro se. If your lawyer does...he/she is an idiot. You cannot impeach your own witness (call them a liar), and you cannot cross examine you own witness. It gives your "ex" a free chance to take shots at you without the chance to cross examine.

We want and love our children just as much. Not even to mention the Children's Rights. Now if that is your idea of a reasonable response... I won't waste any more time on you... except to point out that it is precisely people like you who are the problem (and not the solution) to these difficult issues. Good day, Madam.

Look... when an unwanted pregnancy (by the father) goes full term, the courts use and argument that goes like this [you had sex: you have to be responsible for your actions] to collect child support. It effects his career etc. What I am saying is that the same type of argument should be used on a mother who wants to abort a fetus that a father wants to keep...[you had sex: your responsibility ends at delivery]
/r/MensRights14/01/11 11:11 PM

I hear what you're saying, but I disagree. Our own laws and moral code have issues after the third trimester... why? I do not want to argue about when viable life begins, or when a soul becomes a soul, but only that it is wrong to give a woman a monopoly on the abortion decision. If the father for some reason wants the child, she should have to be responsible for her actions and carry through with the birth. [This same type of argument is used to make fathers pay child support (responsible for t…

Fetuses ARE extra special. Surrogates are also an alternative. I ask you... What is the value of a Human Life? When does it really begin?
/r/MensRights14/01/11 10:10 PM

So you're saying that in some cases... a woman's discomfort for nine months overrules a new human life (who is wanted by his/her father in this scenario)? That is the current law... and it is insane, in my humble opinion. Personally, I would gladly endure nine months of terrible hardship to save a life... but I am an unselfish man. Yes! Exactly! It is synonymous. Regarding the PS: A fetus is not a child, but a potential child (of BOTH parents). The argument that "it is a woman's body" drastically oversimplifies. *Edit: For me, and all the MRA's I know, it is not about pay or jobs or benefits, it's all about the children. We argue that a child has the right to Both parents (and vice versa). This seems like a good time to bring up reproductive rights. -Can a man prevent the abortion of a child he wants? No. -Can a man prevent the woman from giving away the child to adoption? In limited circumstances only, depending on the state. -Can a man have an equal opportunity to be the primary caregiver to a child in a divorce/custody situation? No as the courts apply the laws today. *These, for me, are the reasons for the men's rights movements...IT'S ABOUT THE CHILDREN. Women are taking them…

There are clouds to the "Religious Reason" argument if one delves far enough back into the documents (Abraham...etc.). None of this stopped my Ex from treating the "institution" of marriage frivolously (perhaps because she is an attorney). At her request, we even went through Pre-Cana, but it was all an act, pure BS.

To me, this indicates that the simple explanation you are giving is that women marry primarily for social and financial status and divorce for the same reason.
