Just go out! When I was there last week I comitted to going out solo and it went great. You have the perfect opener too: "hey im new in town and wanted to meet people". Ask about the city, move into deeper conversation. Try rue st-laurent and rue st-catherine. They both have a lot of nightlife

Why don't you suggest grabbing a coffee right away "an insta-date"? If that goes well I bet the number will not flake at all. You also get to bounce her around a bit which is fun, and effective. I agree with bantha, I pretty much never "ask girls out on dates". It's not that date is a bad word, or "beta" or any of that stupid shit. It's just a very loaded word that implies a lot of commitment/compliance up front.

I wonder how much of this comes purely down to mindset in the end? Sometimes it feels like 100%. Mindset and repetition, because its like a video game with infinite lives. I wonder if theres a way to accelerate that process of gaining right mind in social situations? In the movie Tom Cruise has Emily Blunt to train him. Meditation has definitely helped me, as has small chunking things (focus only on approaching, not the later phases). Oddly enough I dont do poorly with women over all...its just …

This is a great post, and full of truth. Approaching is the ONLY way to get better, and you have to do it a lot. I just got back from a night out in Montreal approaching, and I feel amazing. Some cute girls even paid for my drinks. Theres something ive noticed though, from some of the experienced guys in the community. You highlight it in this article. This attitude of "youre a newbie, youre not worth my time". Why? Arent we here to help each other be better men? I feel like some of the experien…

This is what I like to hear! I feel like this big change could be very positive for my life...but only if I run with it like you did. Ill have to learn french, and be approaching every day, at least at first. Sounds like I need to pick up your book. I was pretty concerned about regrets...I will have to rebuild my social circle from 0 after all.

My looks arent bad at all, but im certainly no fashion expert. I just wear nice looking, well fitting clothes. Very MFA uniform, although thats something im looking to change. I do plan to take full advantage of the free french classes. Not learning it at all would be stupid. Thanks for the advice!

No french here unfortunately, but if I move learning it will be mandatory. There are free classes available, at least for beginning. The winter would be a harsh adjustment, but I feel im ready to deal. Unfortunately my prospective employer will want an answer before January :) Stuff to be aware of for sure though, thanks

Nice job putting yourself out there man! Thats what it takes, doing that over and over. Another thing to try for state that helps me is exercising before going out. The shower+endorphines really helps. Plus youre working on a goal and feeling good. And remember--youre definitely enough for those girls. Youre taking action here, that puts you ahead of 90% of guys already. The real question is...are they enough for YOU?

Its all about pushing yourself! The # is still good, if asking for it is outside of your comfort zone

I discussed it with my manager this morning, painting in broad strokes. Since it didnt happen at work, I am in no danger there unless I contact her, which I wont. He really admonished me to stay the fuck away from her though. For legal ramifications, im not so sure. It is worth having a consult with a lawyer, but no need to hire one unless stuff goes really south. Provide I respect her wishes and dont contact her at all, im hoping it will blow over. Next time I will work on comfort more, and not…

These comments were gold man, thanks. I failed to do precisely this. The tragedy here is I had a bit of oneitis for this girl, actually managed to pull it off, then sabotagd it in the end.

Yes, they did see us. At the time they seemed to not care, but who knows? I've spoken to one of them about this, he has no clue either, and we agreed to just not speak of it again.

Thank you for your kind words, you in particular helped me feel a lot better about this. The close friends I talked to tended to agree with you. However I have one in particular who states "someone that intoxicated is unable to give consent" and left it at that. It really got me doubting myself. I may apologize, but I am wary. I want to, but a lot of it is for my own closures sake, and I fear legal ramifications. In the future ill be more careful, and avoid pushing it so far so fast. Who knows? …

Some people already know what they are doing and do this kind of stuff naturally. Others (I was almost in this situation a few times) get married to the first girl that they like/pressures them into it, precisely because they are afraid of being alone. Why do you think we have so many divorces? See puaCurveBall's post. This subreddit is about SELF IMPROVEMENT. It's in the title at the top of your browser window. Be the best, most baller man that you can be, and attract the woman of your dreams. …

Relax and have fun. All of this "omgomgomgomg what do i do?" is going to cause you to blow yourself out. It's a second date, she's coming with you so she certainly likes you. Have fun, be cool, and get physical when the time is right. You got this man!

None of this means you can't make a small start with being a more social person right now. Why don't you start small? Talk to everyone you meet, even if it's something as tiny as a smile and "Hi, how's your day going?" This will help build your confidence up. Also, get on that losing weight thing. Hit the gym, hit the bike/treadmill, or just get outdoors and walk if that's all you can do. Eat healthy, drink LOTS of water. Seriously bro, you can do it if you just get the ball rolling!! /r/fitness…

Thanks for the tips man! If there's one common thread I see running through all of this, it's that putting your nuts on the line and pushing the interaction FORWARD is always the proper course of action. All of the fails in this FR were because of an unwillingness on my part to do so. All of the successes were when I decided to sack up...
