Those protein bars look great! I'm definitely going to make them for the husband!

Have you done a weave before? If you really want long silky hair you might have to shell out some cash and spend some time at the salon. Just make sure you go somewhere that really knows their sew in techniques (and that uses real hair) so it doesn't look crappy. A really good weave can look beautiful. Also, my motto is don't worry about what you can't change. Focus on making yourself the best version of yourself that you can. The language on this site and on TRP is very absolutist and I can see…

I take really good care of my skin and hair (naturally curly, which DH loves). My daily makeup is just a tiny bit of brow blend (I have pretty great brows but a little of brow pencil makes them look so much more consistent and polished), a dab of gold shimmery eye shadow, which really blends in with my skintone so it looks very natural, eyeliner (but not a big smokey eye), and mascara. I basically never wear anything ON my skin (blush, concealer, foundation) except at weddings or super fancy eve…

Thanks! That's definitely possible but my rings (wedding band and e-ring) are super detailed vintage art deco rings so it while it would be possible to recreate them it would probably be insanely expensive. I'm hoping the plating helps!

I'm also a giver by nature, but to me the epitome of giving is GIVING what the other person actually WANTS. I might like the idea of planning a romantic day for my husband, but sometimes what he really wants is to treat me to something. In that way, receiving is actually giving to him. The effect is exactly what a giver wants...it's just the path there that's different. I think taking good care of yourself is also vitally important. It not only makes you look better and feel better but it also s…

This is awesome! Thanks so much for writing in such detail. I completely agree with what you wrote about fitness. I think finding a workout you actually enjoy and look forward to is key. I also do a minimalist skincare routine. FWIW, I love Kiehl's moisturizing sunscreen for my face. I think it's better than Shiseido! I exfoliate once a week with a mixture of brown sugar and olive oil and use Ponds Cold Cream cleanser to wash my face. I highly recommend this routine for anyone here with very dry…

I loved that piece you wrote, congratulations! I have to say that when I first found this sub I thought many of the posters were actually men because of the aggressive/blunt/decidedly unfeminine tone. To be fair, I was also new to reddit and internet fora in general so I've since realized this is fairly typical, but I have to agree that cultivating a feminine spirit at all times is empowering to us and everyone around us. Thanks again and congrats!

Thanks ladies for all of your great advice! I took it to heart and told DH about the issue this evening and you were all right I was worried for no reason. I'm going to get my rings rhodium plated again (I do see the buttery color appearing on the inside of my band) and see if that helps. If that doesn't work I think I'll wear them on a necklace and just get a hypoallergenic band for my hand. Thanks again! I feel silly and like I got all worried for no reason but I really appreciate having a pla…

Absolutely! As a married lady who was very choosy when dating I think it's so important to find a good captain FIRST and then submit. I think being too submissive as a single gal who's dating could potentially draw in guys who just want to take advantage. It also seems like lots of the relationship posts on here are from women who are prematurely submitting to someone who has given them little to no commitment/evidence that they are a good captain. Being a blue pill woman who expects the world a…

His behavior is definitely not up to my standards in a captain. He can't even keep a date with you! I don't know why you want to be the person he feels comfortable bailing on, I have always strived to be the person he never wants to bail on. He sounds extremely unreliable and inconsistent. It kind of sounds like you are so focused on being submissive that you haven't stopped to consider if the man you're with is worthy of that. Not every man is a good captain and if I were still single (I'm happ…

I don't think having an extensive sexual past is a negative for a woman or a man, which I understand is not very TRP or RPW so I hope the mods don't jump on me. I get it if you're in some tiny religious/conservative town where everyone knows everyone (because you don't want to be the town slut that every guy in town has been with), but I live in a major urban area and I can honestly say when I was single I never had a guy ask how many previous partners I'd had. Not even once! Where I live being …

My husband frequently comments that he loves our home. I've put a lot of time into making it a great relaxing place and I think these are my main tips: Don't go too femme in the bedroom. My husband OFTEN comments that he's so happy our house isn't frilly to the max. I personally think ultra feminine bedrooms are a huge turnoff so ours is filled with nice wood furniture and simple neutral patterns in grey and light blue. It definitely has some feminine touches like the colorful lamps and my fabri…

If he says he likes simple outfits and a natural look believe him! Not every single guy likes exactly the same thing. My brother and his wife are very RP. She doesn't cook or clean and she doesn't even work. My brother makes around $500k a year and she's a stunning ex-model. He didn't marry her because he wanted a cook (they go out every night) he married her because he wants someone who is gorgeous, goes with what he says, is constantly available, and will take care of everything. He doesn't ha…

I don't think you necessarily need to give up things to prove affection or love. I mean, if you have a sketchy friendship with another guy (or ex) or something then yeah, that has to go if you want a relationship, but I don't see why you'd necessarily have to give up anything. I think it's more about doing things for him that are sweet/sexy/helpful. I'm married and I still have hobbies, friends, and a part time job (I work from home, which is exactly what I wanted). Decent guys want you to be ha…

Never stop the seduction, put him first, never nag or control, and keep taking care of yourself and your own life. I'm a big fan of Dr. Laura and her book The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands. Yes, tending to his needs is important. Clean the house, make dinner, have lots of sex, do all those things for sure, but don't lose your identity in them. Your man fell in love with you as a person. If as a single girl you loved rock climbing, having brunch with girlfriends, and studying spanish keep d…

I grew up in a rough environment. My mom was super abusive to me, my siblings, and my dad. Shouting, manipulating, throwing stuff, you name it. She's still that way. Even as a kid I was terrified of her. My dad is basically like a battered spouse who genuinely believes it's all his fault somehow and has mentally checked out. It's really sad. Anyway, I basically had the world's worst examples for a relationship growing up, but thankfully I knew that. I knew that if I wanted a good relationship an…

I think it really depends on the woman (just like how some guys are nuts for blondes and others love brunettes). I'm really fit (dancer) so I like guys who also look fit, strong, and proportional (like soccer players and martial artists rather than huge football players or weight lifters). I like the lean but still muscular look. For me it's a lot about how a guy moves too and how he handles himself and situations. You can spend hundreds of hours at crossfit and have no idea how to handle a real…

If a guy really likes you he wants you to be his girlfriend no matter where he is in his life. I sort of doubt that he's actually exclusive with you. There's a reason he wants to be able to say, "I don't have a girlfriend". I disagree with another poster who mentioned that some guys just don't like outward expressions of commitment. In my experience guys who don't like outward signs of commitment don't like them because they want to keep their options as open as possible.

Nothing about fertility that I can recall. I graduated from high school in 2005 so maybe it's different now? My female friends (none are RPW) don't seem to believe that fertility decreases as young as it does. They all seem to plan on having kids in their late 30s as if that will be just as easy as doing it at 20.

You're only looking at the negative side of things right now because you feel shocked. First off you need to stop worrying about what other people are doing. That's a recipe for driving yourself insane no matter how you think about the world. All you should focus on is improving yourself, meeting new people, and engaging with the world around you. Also, don't think for a second that TRP or RPW means you can't have love. I am happily married and absolutely head over heels in love with my husband …

Hey! Sorry I've been off the Internet for a while because my husband and I were on vacation! The important thing is to get high quality pure honey. Squeeze a bit (about the size of a nickle) into your palm and then dampen your hands under the faucet (just a little with warm water). Spread the honey on your face and let it sit there for about 5-10 minutes. Gently wipe away with a warm towel. Honey is a humectant, so it does allow your skin to retain moisture more effectively. I notice a HUGE diff…

I follow the teachings of Buddhism (and practice daily), but my husband is entirely non-spiritual/non-religious. We were both raised in extremely religious Christian homes. We both questioned teachings of the church early and often and had generally negative experiences with Christianity. It just never made any sense to me, but I understand that for many people it is a positive environment.

I work from home too. I don't dress formally but I get dressed and go out every day. Different guys like different looks so it depends a bit on what your husband finds sexy. My man loves me in tight jeans and a tank top that shows a bit of cleavage, but he also loves flouncy little sundresses. I wear my long hair down as often as possible and I always do a little bit of natural looking makeup (fill in brows, mascara, and a little eyeliner). I never wear t-shirts or sweatpants and I only wear wor…

I use a combination of olive oil and brown sugar as an exfoliant. It's superior to every exfoliating product I've ever bought (including pricey sephora stuff). I second witch hazel. Many expensive toners list witch hazel as the first ingredient. I do a honey mask once a week! I put Argan oil on my face every day. Pure Vitamin E oil will do in a pinch too. I take green tea baths once a week. Just like what it sounds like, dump a bunch of green tea bags into your hot bath! I add a few drops of oil…

I looked for these in a husband when I was single (and found them in mine): Intelligent Compatible sense of humor (I actually think this is really important for a longterm relationship) Hard Working Masculine (I like traditional masculine traits. I do agree with you to an extent if you're talking about women who are dominant in a MASCULINE way. I believe most of TRP but like many reactionary theories/ideas I think it's a bit over simplified and a little extreme. I definitely think there is a spectrum of submissiveness and dominance on both gender sides. I mean, look at how LGBTQ couples function. I would say there are lots of types of dominance and I think there is such a thing as female dominance that's not a woman being "masculine". I …

My husband very rarely travels but I get freaked out in the apartment. Not so much about a break in even though we're in the middle of a huge city, but I just freak myself out and start thinking of scary movies and nightmare type things (so so so stupid. i know. i know.) I'm 28. Hah. I literally just leave all the lights on and keep the tv on just for background noise. It's comforting to just hear voices on a show even if I'm not really watching.

Sometimes my husband just needs to vent and other times he comes home in a crabby mood from work but doesn't want to talk. I think in the past I actually caused him to vent for longer because I'd approach it like a girlfriend was talking to me (offering advice, asking questions, explaining how I understood, etc.). Obviously that's a stupid thing to do but at the time I thought I was being supportive. I generally use these phrases now, "I'm sorry, that sucks", "ugh, that must be annoying", that k…

I think that while men are very visual they are not highly detail oriented. I'm about 5'2" but about 5 pounds heavier than you are (I'm also 28 years old so I'm a good deal older than you are-I was thinner when I was a teenager probably around 102 pounds-former ballet dancer). Whew! I'd say it's a good thing you guys aren't married yet since you're having huge fights over such little stuff. To be honest, reading this I kept picturing a young high school aged couple (maybe 15-16 years old?) just because of the level of drama, but then I double checked the first couple of paragraphs and saw you're nearly 30. You outlined a lot of personal history stuff and it seems like this is a relationship issue second and a personal issue first. I'd personally recommend therapy to d…

My husband proposed about a month after our "marriage talk", which he brought up. We had a wedding and I just wanted to mention that you don't HAVE to do anything. Our wedding had 24 guests and was in a family member's backyard. We got married in the morning and had a lunch reception at a restaurant. It was very inexpensive and quick and it meant a lot to both of our families.

I think she's pretty funny, not always but a lot of the time. I don't think slapstick/stand-up comedy is really meant to teach moral life and relationship lessons, it's not that serious it's just meant to be funny. You could easily pick apart male comedian's bits (jim gaffigan glorifies junk food and obesity is a major problem, etc.). I think if you take comedy really seriously you probably just don't like or understand the genre. I like Melissa McCarthy too. I think she's pretty hilarious. Now …

Well done! I am an absolute monster in the morning...and by morning I mean any time before 10:30. For years when I worked outside the home I would rise at 5:00 am, but now that I work part-time from home I sleep in until 10:30-11:30 and do most of my work at night. It took us years to get to the point where I could work part-time from home so my husband LOVES that I can sleep in and stay home. I actually only found this sub recently but I agree with most of the RPW ideals. I grew up in a household with lots of conflict, controlling behavior, addiction, and verbal abuse. I basically grew up very angry and due to some personal experiences as a self-described "hard core feminist", which given my background I think was pretty understandable. After failed relationships (with great guys) and years spent feel so filled with anger I just figured there had to be a better way. I just started lo…

It's true, many problems are a more complicated than my pantry example, but IMO your guy's talking/listening skills probably fall into the category of "innate/virtually unchangeable part of his personality". I probably differ a bit from many of the other RPW in that I believe genuine compatibility is very important. I agree to an extent that if you have a typical "good guy" you can make it work using RPW concepts, but I also think that if you're young and fairly attractive finding a guy who you'…

I tend to ask myself these 3 questions: Is this an innate/virtually unchangeable part of his personality? If the answer is yes I let it go. No one is perfect and trying to change someone is a recipe for disaster. Is this a big deal that could jeopardize our relationship/life together? Is the issue something that could lead to infidelity, bankruptcy, drug addiction, lying, legal issues, etc. If it's not in that category I let it go. Is this something that hugely bothers me but would be very easy …

My husband and I were long distance for a couple of years. I highly recommend sexting and sending sexy photos randomly! I also had lots of fun collecting things for him in between our visits. If I saw a dvd on sale of one of his favorite movies, an awesome collectible (he's a collector of many things), or a cool foreign candy (he's got a sweet tooth) I'd buy them and either send them via mail or present him with them when he came to visit me.

It sounds like you're so stuck in your own head (maybe you're washing dishes but you're also making a mental grocery list, thinking about work, mentally organizing future tasks, etc.) that you forget to react to the present. I wonder if just focusing on the present more might immediately alleviate some of your stress and distant nature. I don't think that faking enthusiasm or lightheartedness is sustainable so I'd try to actually foster that nature internally. Look for humor and enjoyment in the…

I'm a very good home cook (I do contests and stuff for fun). I recommend cooking daily, refining what you do naturally, and gradually expanding you horizons. For example, I'm sure you have several recipes that you can adequately make, but wouldn't it be nice to do your prep faster? That's understandable. Childhood stuff can run really deep. I was raised in a deeply religious home too and when I was younger I still struggled with these types of things too. I wouldn't think about it like you're criticizing him but more like you're exploring sex together. IMO saying, "I don't like X, and you don't do Y enough" is really different than saying, "hey, you know what I would love? If you blah blah blah. is there anything special you want?" that kind of thing.

I think you need to work on communication skills in your relationship. If you're not even sure how to talk to him about what you like in bed I don't think you should even consider getting engaged any time soon. I personally wouldn't be bothered by his sexual past but I guess you need to figure out if it's really a deal breaker for you. I was not taught any type of feminine (makeup, hair, etc.) upkeep at home so I had to learn by trial and error. I'm 28 and happily married. You're young and you do still have lots of time to find a wonderful guy. I think at your age you should focus on making yourself the best person you can be and exploring your passions. If you have glaring flaws (anger, manipulation, unresolved childhood stuff) now is a great time to work past those issues. My husband and I were long distance for a couple of years while dating but we saw each other nearly every weekend. I think encouraging her to be the best version of herself is all you can do. With women like this, who are still single in their 30s, it's not usually just one thing that's the problem it's a lot of things. I think the importance of age is sometimes overstated a bit here, probably due to the average age of the posters. I'd guess your average guy can't even visually tell the difference between most 25 year olds and most 30 year olds. If she's the type of person who will hook up with someone for 5…

Yes, I agree with both of you. I actually grew up with a mother like this and it definitely affected my behavior for years until I worked through it. Since no one talks about emotional abuse in the home (just physical) I didn't even realize it was abnormal until counseling years and years later.

I think it just takes time. My husband never used to give me info on what he wanted for dinner because he felt bad like he was giving me orders or something. I explained to him that it's actually kind of exhausting for me to always have to figure out what we both eat and when, and that it would be helpful for him to just tell me. Now he just asks if he wants me to make him a snack or if he wants something special. He's still polite and soft spoken because that's just his way (strong silent type)…

My husband loves simple roasted chicken. I rub the bird with butter and bake it at 350 for a couple of hours. I baste it every 30 minutes after the first hour. I also toss in loads of veggies and they get all buttery and delicious. Other favorites include carrot fries, enchiladas, meatloaf (you can sneak lots of veggies in), tacos, and sweet potato pasta.

I only just found RPW this week but I essentially came to a similar conclusion about relationships about 8 years ago after being dumped by a great guy who couldn't deal with my crap anymore. I started really slowly in order of my most harmful behaviors, for me: anger manipulation lying mental instability lack of satisfaction in self so projecting on others (jealousy, etc.) Since I was single when I really started working on myself I didn't have a big talk about it with anyone. Maybe other RPW di…

I just found this sub and joined so hello everyone! You don't seem to have a new members thread so I just thought I'd say hi here! I'm a happily married 28 year old lady, and I agree with so much of what you have all posted here. To be honest it's a breath of fresh air! Anyway...here are my goals for the week: Get better at time management. I work part-time from home and sometimes the day gets away from me. I always have dinner ready and waiting but sometimes I'll peek in the bedroom and realize…

Have you been in a longterm relationship before? I have been with my husband for almost 7 years (I am 28 he is 31) and I think it's natural to have peaks and valleys in terms of sexual frequency. Women are conditioned to see a decline in sex as a huge red flag that means he isn't interested or is going to cheat or something. I really don't think this is the case unless it's extreme (months/years without sex). I notice when my husband is stressed he is less interested in sex. I'd give him space o…

I agree that meal planning is very important, but it's hard to learn about meal planning before you have a few dishes down. I'd start with a couple of basics: Whole Roasted Chicken & Baked Sweet Potatoes Spaghetti & Meatballs in Marinara Sauce Meat or Veggie Enchiladas Vegetable Fried Rice I think these 4 would give you a nice rotation to start with and you'd learn quite a few skills in the process. I highly recommend budgetbytes as a great recipe site for people who are new to cooking.
