Both my ex-wife and my mother told me that I was "too skinny". (I was ripped.) Being plugged in, I fell for it. It has been a long but worthwhile road to get back in shape.

It looks like you're more trying to demonstrate intellectual superiority than actually understand my comment. "Awful lot of apologists in here" is contextual, and people who have been here since ~10,000 subs get it. It's an observation on the significant change in TRP's culture since then, when this discussion would be unnecessary. The mods can and should act to preserve the sub. Does that or my observation cause you concern?

+1 concern trolling. I categorically reject feminist apologists here and, when possible, in real life. When this thread was younger the majority of posts were equivocation and other nonsense disagreeing with the OP, who is correct in his assessment.

I understand where you're coming from and how this looks from the outside. Some guys are vulnerable to getting sucked in by any number of tactics used by single moms to secure a provider.

It's an interesting example of a man's clearly stated experience being diminished because it does not conform to "the way things should be".

The fundamental premise in action. I have a close relative who is a big dollar individual political contributor. He supports one of the senators who sponsored this bill. When I tried to explain the possible negative repercussions and flawed thinking behind this legislation, it did not compute. His brain automatically favored the hypothetical (female) victim over the increased risk of false accusation against a (male) blood relative.

The U.S. military justice system is not so consistent as you suggest. It is accurate to say that adultery is illegal under the UCMJ. It is also accurate to say that adultery happens and often in the open with no consequences.

This article is of unusually high quality. It has focus and citations. Despite strong evidence suggesting gender pay equality, there is still a general perception that women earn less than men do, and this perception is just one more factor discouraging women from entering the tech space. Perpetuating victim myths is bad for everyone. Who knew?

The data is interesting, but the paper is bullshit. The authors use a lot of complex speculation to avoid saying that in marriage women might find men without resouces unattractive. Some of their discussion essentially amounts to "men like the power to send women into the kitchen more than they want her money". To understand the authors' gender-equalist bias, just read the last paragraph. Your tax dollars at work.

Known as a pre-nuptial agreement. The contract may be invalidated for any number of reasons, variable by state, so is possibly unreliable. A pre-nup is usually for protecting pre-marital assets. A grey area exists in off-shoring assets acquired during the marriage. It's an expensive and probably risky option. Research: community property laws.

This happens periodically. OP's unnecessary disclosure of their (female) sex is a very reliable indicator that they are either seeking affirmation of their preconceptions or trolling. Ponder, if you will, the ego-centrism required to enter a new community and attempt to "generate debate", having no basic prerequisite knowledge of that community. (Expectation of special treatment.)

Typical liberal doublethink. Capitalism is "cynical" but but but the proven, fiscally effective best practices in marketing are exclusionary and exploitive and "geek media" marketers should all become white knights like me. Fucking amazing how people can maintain cognitive dissonance like that.

I believe this was the inspiration for C+=: http://m.hastac.org/blogs/ari-schlesinger/2013/11/26/feminism-and-programming-languages Arielle Schlesinger: The idea came about while discussing normative and feminist subject object theory. I realized that object oriented programmed reifies normative subject object theory. This led me to wonder what a feminist programming language would look like, one that might allow you to create entanglements (Karen Barad Posthumanist Performativity).

That's not asserted here in general or in OP's post specifically. The idea is that women should not be shamed out of certain traditional roles, and the sentiment around here is that prevailing ideologies in the west are unhealthy. Personally, I don't think that Mary Barra is a guaranteed repeat of Carly Fiorina, but that's not the point.

I have been through marriage counseling. It was exhausting and ineffectual. The counselor had a JD and was a social worker. Every comment I made was reinterpreted in the way lawyers bend words for a client. The only way this kind of mediation can work is if all parties are completely open and honest. When I brought hard evidence to expose untruths, it was dismissed by the counselor as "it doesn't matter". By the end, I recognized that every problem that came to light was wrapped around to the no…
