Are you me? Had similar story with volleyball. 6' whatever and only white guy in school, and not athletic (well maybe you were) but creamed everyone in volleyball ball. Then all the black kids went to the principal and got me in trouble cuz I was intolerant or whatever. Then got jumped by said assholes. I turned into an actual racist from then until first year in highschool.

What I and some fo my family does is keep a post it, or a small rock or tiny trinket in our pocket where we put our hands frequently. It reminds us of different things, like our family or friends. It can also remind us to stay positive. A post it note in your walet or by your phone that says stay positive will remind you to re-shape up because you see it frequently.

It's weird, I have heard the opposite (almost) advice on this subreddit before. I think the main thing is to maintain contact for a while but with breaks. to each their own I guess. Also a trick, If looking in the eyes is difficult, look at the nose between the eye (the bridge?). totally pulls it off.
