Liberals are left wing.

Do you really think there is no room for a pro-capitalist, left-wing? I would disagree with that fundamentally.

> Let me know if there's anything missing In the parental rights section there is a fairly nuanced point missing around decision making about how to raise a coparented child. Often fathers do get (at least some) physical custody to spend time with their child(ren), but when it comes to decisions about how to raise the child, like what sort of school to put them in for example, fathers end up with no say whatsoever.

So here is a bill in your state legislation. I will say that the language is a bit less desirable that I've seen in other state legislation, but it is still an improvement and worth supporting. The language in question. If the court renders an order appointing the parents as joint managing conservators and the parents reside 20 miles or less apart, there is a rebuttable presumption that the equal parenting order under Subchapter F-1 is in the best interest of the child. If the court finds that t…

There is a pretty notable split between what feminists orgs want and what most individuals who identify as feminists want.
/r/MensRights18/06/23 06:42 PM

I think you may be misinterpreting the bills in question. If I am understanding your words correctly, you do, in fact, agree with them. The language is not "presumptive 50/50" it is "a rebuttable presumption of 50/50". That means that if any evidence is presented as to why it should not be 50/50, then the presumption can be rebutted. All it does is keep sexist judges from passing custody to the mom for no reason other than they think moms should have it. Those judges would have to be presented w…

And all it'll take is one Judge to decide to throw it out or enough Feminists to get up in arms and it'll be overturned This is true of every single law ever. That is how our system works. It's not a good reason to not try and get the laws passed anyway.

We got KY in 2018 and AR in 2021. I don't think such a defeatist outlook like yours is what got the bills passed in those states.

NY is one of only 2 states to receive the lowest F rating by NPO's ranking in 2019, so you are correct that NY is not a very good state for child custody. See the full map here. There appears to be a bill this year to establish the rebuttable presumption language for temporary custody orders (orders that apply for the time the parents are waiting for a hearing), which is an important first step in the legislative process. See the bill here.

This is also important because Reddit can and will remove moderators who redirect the sub to an off-site platform. Doesn't seem like much of a threat if you are actually trying to move to a different platform. Why not do it and get as much of the community you can to the new platform before you get banned?

The bill, known as HB0253 and SB0331, passed the state senate unanimously on March 20. Please don't waste your time on this. I've been in this space for a long time. Unless it's passed both houses it means nothing. Legislators will often, intentionally, pass a bill in the house or Senate knowing full well it won't pass the other. This is specifically so articles life this can be made and sensors can claim "will I voted for the save-the-puppies act" or whatever. Seriously, don't give it the time …

Unlike the cancel mob, I'm happy to recognize people change. In the same sense that someone making a racist comment, once, 10 years ago doesn't mean we should cancel them today -- because JP today has gone off the deep end doesn't mean we need to disregard all his previous work. Back in the day I went thru all of his college lectures for both the Maps or Meaning course and the Personality one. I would still recommend anyone else do the same, assuming they are still available on YT.

It seems you and I have a different definition of what are conservative values. I would include in them that women are the default child rearers.
/r/MensRights13/01/23 07:28 PM
1

Post-modern, in my caim, is referring to the idea that one can become a woman by simply claiming it is so. Not really anything to do with who parents. Conservative in my claim was about whether the mother or father should be more responsible for the child rearing. Abuse in the situation really throws a monkey wrench in my claim.
/r/MensRights13/01/23 06:00 PM

Oh I don't disagree. But usually they are more protectors and providers than child rearers.

/r/MensRights13/01/23 01:52 PM

I'm fairly sure I recall that gender expression has been officially considered a protected class along with sexual orientation, like a judge ruled on that. If you like I can try to dig into it and find the evidence for you. What laws are you talking about? I'm open to having my mind changed, but I don't initially believe that there are laws that "strip trans people of rights". You can show me what you are talking about and I'll look into it. edit: I'm also pretty sure that committing a crime aga…

Here is the best steelman I can generate. In [current era] there are some real benefits conferred onto trans individuals. They tend to get more protections, both socially and there are actual legal protections. Companies tend to be tripping over themselves to hire trans people. An argument can be made that mom was trying set up her child for success within the context of the current social dynamic. I don't buy this argument, just wanted to say it exists.

I'm not sure if you are being sarcastic or actually know.. the drugs they give transitioning children that are marketed as "puberty blockers" are the same drugs they sometimes give adult male sex offenders to chemically castrate them. This was revealed popularly in Matt Walsh's documentary What is a Woman?

I don't think so. They clearly state they attempted to make it not offensive. I think they just didn't do a good job of it.

My honest answer. You can't really. In my job they do an anon survey every year that at one point asks what you would change about the work place. Every time my answer is "stop racially discrimination in hiring." But I doubt anyone really cares. Sueing is quite difficult, if you get the job you can't show real harm to yourself (as you, personally, were not discriminated against), and if you don't get the job they pretty much never say "no, were not hiring whites" So you can't prove it was skin c…

Well at least you are principled. I completely disagree. If a 15yo boy "wanted" to be circumcised, it would be 100% because their parents raised them to believe it was necessary, not their own decision.
/r/MensRights20/10/22 09:15 PM
1

So if you understand your position, we should be allowed to circumcise 15yo boys?
/r/MensRights20/10/22 09:07 PM

By the same standards we should stop infants from being circumcised, or teenagers from agreeing to have sex with adults. Children aren't able to give consent.

you may be mistaking me for the previous commenter, who was wrong up front. Or are you saying there is something wrong in my comment?

I agree. There are problems enough without distorting the facts. For example, females as young as 15 can get mastectomies for gender reassignment. Which is completely unacceptable. I don't think the 9yo number as accurate, but prepubescent children are also given puberty blockers, which while less invasive, I understand can result in that person never being able to achieve orgasm. edit: can one of you inform me why I'm being downvoted? I don't understand

I think you are right, maybe I shouldn't have posted this. There seems to be no blood from the first few "stabbings". Maybe the knife is more like a butter knife. Maybe it's more of a blunt object. However from :35 after the bottle gets used there is def some blood spilling.

It's pretty crazy out there. I don't even care so much he got arrested, tho he definitely should have been hospitalized first.. I care that anyone (in this case a woman) gets to stab someone who wasn't currently a threat and get off scot-free.

Do you mean lack of action?
/r/MensRights11/10/22 01:17 AM

I agree. But there is a difference between "Biden did X" and "Biden didn't do anything to change X". Omission vs commission.
/r/MensRights10/10/22 09:51 PM

While the policy was established before Biden took office, the Biden administration has not changed the standard. If we're being fair, we can't say Biden did this.
/r/MensRights10/10/22 09:48 PM

It would be untenable to allow trans women to opt out. The military has a long history of men trying to fake alternative lifestyles to get out of it. Look at the old TV show MASH when Klinger would cross-dress intentionally trying to get kicked out.

Haven't seen HOD, but there is a rape scene in the movie Midsommar that people often don't see as rape. Literally drugged a guy and forced him to have sex.

I mean. I'm sure there are some tech startups that I could get into that aren't woke, but they don't pay well, and often fail. If I want to be in a place with some job security it will almost def be woke.
/r/MensRights05/09/22 08:05 PM

It's easier to just get a different job You can't always just get another job. For me, in the tech industry, 99% of the companies are like this. I literally have no place better to go. Unless I want to drastically change and try to learn a new industry.

Stating the gender (not identity) of the victims causes them to be a risk in some way?
/r/MensRights17/08/22 10:56 AM

Sorry I misread your comment: 200 victims, including 84 women and children The article did not say women. It didn't break down by gender at all
/r/MensRights16/08/22 08:06 PM

I don't doubt the numbers. I think many of the victims are probably male and not stating the male/female breakdown.. I think most people assume all the victims are female.
/r/MensRights16/08/22 08:02 PM

Even the FBI press release doesn't say. I assume because it was mostly males, but the story hits harder if they let people assume it is mostly female.

The civil war was a reactionary backlash to counter the savery supporting separatists movement. Being reactionary isn't necessarily a bad thing. I don't know about this 1800s person you mention, but I think being reactionary against the modern feminist movement is a good thing.

I actually proposed something very similar to my ex wife. She was like "no thanks, I'll just take your money and do with it as I please." Not in the words, but that was the obvious intent. My idea was basically a shared bank account that we each added money in, in equal measure (ie. Both put in $200 every time it was empty) and either could spend from that account for anything child related: clothes, new tablet, school stuff, insurance, medical/dental fees etc. Except food, food would just be on…
/r/MensRights25/07/22 01:03 PM

Men simply don't give a shit I think this is a step too far in your claim. Many men care deeply. Some even as powerful politicians. It just isn't something that breaks down along gender lines.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates29/06/22 01:34 PM
24

You're looking at it the wrong way. The feminists often claim it is just a bunch of "old white men" who want to control women's bodies.. even if it's #notallmen. However this view is also not true. Justice Barrett, a woman, also concurred with the Supreme Court decision. Also there are many women who are politicians all the way down to the state level involved in actively trying to restrict abortions.

Aside from RGB I don't know any of those names, and I don't recall any time RGB did well on men's rights. I suspect there are an equal amount of low level, unknown right wing names I can throw out that do well on men's rights. The sponsor of the 50/50 Bill in my state is a Republican, but you wouldn't know their name. The fact is, there is nobody at the top of the political ladder who supports men's rights, left or right.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates26/06/22 07:51 PM

I told you guys, DeSantis, nor anyone else on the right, actually give a fuck about men. Can you identify who on the left gives a fuck?

Who on the left does any better?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates26/06/22 06:01 PM

2 things. Alimony reform. Mostly killing off lifetime almonry as well as rebalancing the amount of payment such that you don't have less-earning ex husbands paying higher-earning ex wives Custody reform. Establishing that 50/50 is the preferred response. Meaning to deviate away from 50/50, the court has to give a reason.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates26/06/22 05:41 PM
7

Interesting. You think Men's Movements are moving men to the right? This is odd to me. At the heat of the matter the men's movement is progressive. That is, we seek to progress to a better place in society. A place where men have better rights. That is as opposed to conserving the status quo. Also the organizations that seem to be making positive progress for men's rights, The National Parents Organization for example, seem to be (slightly) left leaning.

Take a moment to look into the supposed "don't say gay" bill and tell me what part of the text of the bill goes against your leftist tendencies. The text btw. Quoting other people won't work here. And the partisan-ship of covid is just ridiculous. There is nothing left or right about how to handle a disease. At least there wasn't until 5m ago.

I would've voted for this guy when he ran for president.. until now. Edit: to address the downvoters, that means I'm probably going to vote left. I was willing to consider DeSantis because he passed a father's rights (at least in name) bill earlier, and my stance on father's rights is more important to me than being Rep or Dem. I can't imagine anyone the Dems put up will be remotely in favor of father's rights. DeSantis appeared to be, until now.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates26/06/22 06:59 AM

I totally called this. You can check my Reddit history. When he passed the different bill to help fathers (that will actually do nothing to help fathers) while this one was still on his desk, I knew it was to try and save face because he was planning on vetoing this one. Sad day for FL. Passed 2 custody reform bills now that both got vetoed. This is not true. I assure you it is possible to find sexual relationships that are mutually beneficial and but transactional. You have to be the one who refuses to play the game. Don't pay for all the dates. Don't buy the flowers. Don't give up your hobbies. It's not easy, but I assure you it is possible to find a decent romantic relationship.

Sorry it was too long ago to remember what I was referring to. I'm pretty sure there used to be a list of feminist terrorist activities in wiki, but I can't find it now. I'm pretty sure the feminists did some sketchy things with Erin Pizzey back in the day, including at least a bomb threat. Edit: looks like the other commenter linked something.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/06/22 02:37 PM

The problem will arise from trying to find people who will identify as a representative of feminism. That process will attract all the *wrong* types of feminists. If you could somehow take a random sampling of people who identify as feminist it might work.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/06/22 12:39 PM
35

Same, I was active there years ago. Then it became clear that one of the feminists mods was just removing every comment that made feminism look bad. Want to talk about Elliot Rogers and associate him with men's rights? perfectly fine. Bring up times when feminists engaged in bombings? Unacceptable, mod delete, temp ban for you user. I just stopped playing the game after a while.

There is a reason why feminists successfully prevented shared parenting from ever becoming a thing I don't think this is an accurate understanding of the state of things. You might say "try to prevent." We have successfully passed shared parenting legislation in 3 states now. Things are moving in a positive direction, even if the speed of law is quite slow.

If my wife has cheated on me then I don't think I should give her the award in the way of maintenance but still men need to do it. You don't usually see proof of infidelity bright up in count. Only rare cases, such as if a prenup had a carve out for it. No reason needs to be stated for divorce, and trying to include one would at least triple the attorney fees. In other words, maintenance will be decided without proof of fault on either side.

I see the definition says nothing about if transwomen are male as adults. Also that definition isn't the same in all dictionaries, and even the ones that do define transwomen that way changed that definition in very very recent history. Were transwomen not women until the dictionary changed the definition sometime in the last 5 years? Look, I'm not going to engage with all of this. Your logic is really very shaky and I'd suggest you re-examine your thought process here. Humans are monogamous species (at least socially monogamous). That complicates the picture. In monogamous species, males will compete for resources. Often violently. Thereby out-competing the non-monogamous males and female. This doesn't make sense. So humans are monogamous, but there are also non-monogamous humans who are outcomputed, and that is specifically due to their lack of monogamy? So, nature maintains the sex ratio close to 1:1. To prevent in-species competition and violence. Huh? How …

If you watch just as Carruth walked out of the house it looks like he points the gun at Read. Carruth holding a gun is legal, but pointing it at Read (without threat to his life) is not. The tenets of their movement are that trans women are men in dresses, to be regarded as suspicious in the best case and dangerous in the worst case and that trans men are confused teenage girls in the best case and gender traitors in the worst case. I'll have to respectfully disagree. The tenet of their movement is that biological sex exists, that transitioning doesn't change one's biological sex, and that sex matters (more than gender) for some political positions.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates19/10/21 05:09 PM
1

The above should sound familiar to any LWMA or MRA worth their salt! What is familiar to me is the method of negatively casting an entire movement based on the actions of a few individuals. For example: Elliot Rodger. You defining all of TERFs as loathsome and advocating violence based on the actions of a few individuals is making the same mistake the New York Post does in my link.

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/10/21 01:52 PM

The one reason I'm hesitant to really make a move (and expend a lot of time and energy) filling a claim is that I can't show personal harm. I am talking about getting the evidence into prosecutors hands. That isn't really needed here. I mean most of this discriminatory stuff is publicly started. There is no evidence that needs to be snuck out of anywhere. We just need someone in a prosecutor position willing to prosecute.

Is this nornal in the US? I work in big tech in the US and it's worse that what you describe. For example, they have a reward system for recruiting people in, like if there's a position to be filled and you bring someone in to fill it you get a small bonus. However they are now giving double rewards if the person you bring in is female or a minority (except Asians, they don't count). This isn't just some personal whim of someone in HR, it is the openly started policy. They are literally paying p…

It's not quite that simple. I can tell you in my state, and I think it's typical in most of the US, if you a married to a woman when she gives birth you are automatically considered to be the legal father. No signing required.

Some men seem to just be born with an instinct of how to attract women. Many other men aren’t. This part I disagree with. I think men can move in and out being able comfortable attracting women throughout their lives. All humans move in and out of various roles in the lifetimes. Those roles come with different abilities. I don't think ability to attract women is a function of one's birth.

And because of that, it pays pretty well. I see it as no different than say, working an oil rig, or those people who go ocean fishing in harsh weather. They don't deserve extra respect for doing it. They deserve extra money, and they get that.

She can force him to engage in sexual acts to the point of ejaculation which would possibly lead to conception. Not legally. Now you might say that such laws preventing women from doing this are not actually enforced, and you might be correct. But the fact stands that it is not legal. We are defining father differently. You seem to be defining father something like "the one who financially supports the child" while I am defining it as "the one who's genetic information was used to create the child" by my understanding he was "forced to be a father" by the act of rape, not the act of enforcing child support (which I 100% agree was wrong)

I think the lady was even convicted of statutory rape ...sooooo it wasn't legal? That's my whole point here. The OP says a woman can legally force a man to be a father. A woman can force a man to be a father, but it is still illegal to do so.

Some of Biden's previous packages have been discriminatory against men- small business loans, farmers loans- but this one appears to be gender neutral and non-exclusive. I don't think 2. is quite accurate, or at least is presented strangely. I don't think there is a case anywhere in which a man has a very high income and that is not a factor in determining child support. The point I think you are trying to make is that if a man has a very low or no income the court will impute his income and base child support of that. In other words, the father's income is used, it's just sometimes a made up number assigned to be his income. Also can you dig into 3. a bit more?…

Does Reddit stand by its decision to remove feminist and lesbian subreddits like R/GenderCritical, which contained some 65,000 members, at the request of someone who, at the very least... I don't see that the article positively linked the removal of those subs to her. Though at the same time wonder if the superstraight sub was removed for the same reason. I don't have a horror story, but a standard one. Divorced in the service and the ex moved back home (which was half a world away). I got very little visitation for the rest of my enlistment. I didn't fight that. What was I going to do, bring my kid to Afghanistan with me? Finished up my enlistment and moved back home to be near my kid. Told the ex I wanted 50/50 and that we'd need to lower the CS considering I would be actually around to support my kid now. She refused, offered around 25/75 and …

Disgusting at every single level. Disgusting that a parent would be so concerned about waving-while-male. Disgusting that the event would be shared on social media. And Disgusting that after realizing they were harassing an innocent man, the police would make a post congratulating themselves for doing so.

These same people will abandon him... This is exactly the type of thinking I'm trying to address. You believe you can tell everything about this person by this one interaction, as well as everything about how they will be in the future. The only point I was trying to make is that we need to give people room to grow. Casting people as heretics as OPs friend did, and you seem to be on the verge of suggesting OP do to his friend right back, is not the best way forward.
/r/MensRights19/03/21 01:25 PM

Yes. Yes you should care. Why? Because OP isn't like the friend who ghosted him over a political position. Because the friend considers one having the "wrong" political position means they are less than human and not worthy of compassion does not mean OP should feel the same way. You should care OP, and it hurts. I've been through it too. But be ready to accept your friend back as a friend, should she, in the future, be willing to converse with you again.

Removing the bias against men in family court. This one I don't see an answer for. The bias exists not in the court systemically, but in the people who make it up. Judges and lawyers are biased, not laws and gavels. You can't really legislate that away. So long as a judge has any latitude in a case, they can employ bias in their judgments. And removing all latitude from judges would be impossible.

Targeting minority business does not mean ignore others. Targeting minorities does, in fact, mean ignoring some white owned businesses, by definition. If they are not passing over white owned businesses in favor of minority owned businesses then they are not targeting.
/r/MensRights22/01/21 01:44 PM
3

Even if minority-owned businesses suffered most, some non-minority-owned businesses suffered as much as them, or more (even if it's fewer in proportion), and some minority owned businesses did not suffer was much as most white owned businesses. I don't want to see cases where hard hit white owned businesses are passed over for aid in favor of a minority owned businesses that may not have suffered at all. Targeting the skin color and sex will cause this to happen.
/r/MensRights22/01/21 01:19 PM

But its difficult to do an in depth analysis of every business before helping You don't have to. Just have the business show its financials when applying for aid. Immigrant areas has less 'reserves' in terms of savings and immigrants were more likely to be laid off. This cripples business in the immigrant areas. Which is why they have been disproportionately affected and could use more aid. Except in cases where the immigrant is employed by a white man? Those don't matter because the skin color …

While child abuse is slightly more often coming from men (if were counting by those charged with it) it is much more likely to be from a step-father (or unrelated man in the household, eg. mom's boyfriend) than from a bio-father. in short: even if we accept that more men are abusive, it still doesn't mean mom should get custody. Interesting you bring up Rome. If I recall correctly, in order to be a Roman citizen one's mother must have been a roman citizen, without regard to one's father. By some definition of the word, this would make Rome technically a matriarchy. Definition 2: a form of social organization in which descent and relationship are reckoned through the female line.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/01/21 01:36 PM

if the social system doesn't exclude women from political leadership (even if they may be underrepresented), and the laws produced by the political leadership benefit women over men, by what measure is that social system a patriarchy? What does the word even mean?

Don't know much about India, but yes that sounds extremely sexist. Reframing the question through an American lens, I'd say it is not inherently sexist, as there is the possibility that alimony goes the other way (from exwife to exhusband). I would say the law is enforced in a sexist way though.

Honestly I think the exact opposite of the 2nd point. If anything, our cops are too reluctant to shoot most of the time. The media picks up on the 3 times out of 7 million where that isn't the case and drives the opposite narrative.

apologies for all the downvotes you are receiving. It is my greatest hope that the MRM be willing to hear claims counter to the narrative with respect, but that seems quite a difficult goal to achieve. The claim in the article that the judge "never heard" the case caught me off guard too, but it could be a few things. Perhaps the child died before the case concluded. If this is the situation the judge is still at fault (at least partly) for not establishing a safe temporary custody order until t…

Amazon has a very strict policy on "offensive materials" I'm not sure I agree with your premise. Also I have a small library full of gender politics books on Audible (owned by Amazon) that would often be banned by the type of people your hinting at, including: Douglas Murray, James Lindsay, Christina Hoff Sommers, and Debra Soh. I'm so tired of people trying to make male disposability a partisan problem when it isn't. Both right and left hate men. Maybe for different reasons, and in different ways, but situation is not one which needs to be addressed by "fixing" only one side of the aisle.

Note that even these studies which demonstrate a bias in the family court system fail to show the full picture. Mothers are given custody as a legal default in most places, and it is up to the father to find the money to hire a lawyer to fight this in court. We could sus out some of the picture not shown here by controlling for which parent was the plaintiff and which was the defendant. That is: compare the number of male parents who are the plaintiff asking for custody and awarded custody the f…

only 1/6 fathers win custody of their children It's unfortunate we can't get better data on this. The 1/6 number alone doesn't prove anything. We need data on how many fathers requested custody and was denied, preferably to compared to mothers. The judiciary won't let that information out though (at least in the US)

We must just run in different circles. There is definitely a sizable group (though definitely not the majority) that pushes sex work as empowering for women. Say I'm in the kitchen and grab a glass. I go to the tap and turn it on to start filling it. The glass eventually gets full, but I hold it there nonetheless. You walk by and say "hey what are you doing with that glass? Why is it still under the running tap?" And I say "well this is a historically empty glass so I still need to fill it." We don't have the compassion from the vast majority of society to make a protest/march a benefitial political move. It's just not time yet. I know this is extreme, but imagine a black rights protest prior to the emancipation proclamation. Such a thing would only result in the culling of black people. We have to continue societal norms for quite a bit, and get some non-sexist legislation passed first. The protest generally works to enforce laws, not to change them.

This particular case (if it's real) doesn't actually show much improvement. Clearly the mother made no attempt to have custody. The reason mothers are the vast majority if the receivers of child support is because they are the vast majority of the parents who have custody. In that case I'll go a bit further and say in a rare example like this you don't even have to say the State part of "City, State" because it's implied in the name of the city which state it belongs to. However there are also situations where you do need to still say the state, for example there is a Kansas City, Missouri (as well as a Kansas City, Kansas) so if you are talking about the Missouri one you would still have to add the state to be clear.

Well, and my main point would be that a simple disparity is numbers is not evidence of a barrier of any kind. Perhaps different groups of people simply prefer to choose different paths in life. That being said, a large disparity, such as in STEM, is a good reason to examine the phenomenon. And if and barrier is then found, it should be removed. But without any causal link there is simply nothing to do about it.

This is a BS rationalization. You sound exactly as bad as the people who defend #killallmen in the basis that men are the oppressor class. Not all cops are bastards, not even most of them. Not all police systems are bastardized, not even a notable % of them. Get outta here with your violence-defending rhetoric. Edit: and no, black lives shouldn't take priority over all other lives. That's literally a racist position.

Just FYI. OP is a throwaway for a long standing member of the men's rights community. I don't want to out them, but I'm not sure really why they used a throw away instead of their standard account.. maybe something to do with an ongoing lawsuit? I can vouch for the event (stabbing) happening, as I was able to see a video of the fresh wounds as well as a police incident card. They are probably in a decent about of mental distress right now, and looking for ways to contextualize what happened.

[removed] From the perspective of trying to achieve progress for men's rights, I think the best thing to do in the situation is refuse to debate. Something like "I'm not going to debate on which is worse, the fact is they are both wrong." When we start getting into the detail of debating how MGM is just as bad, we've already lost in a lot of people's minds.

Many fathers probably will never even check if they can use a service with that name.

In most places in the US a, being married to a women means that one is considered the legal father of any kids she produces, regardless of the biological reality. There are some other laws that consider what role a man played regardless of marriage, for example if you dated a women who had a kid for 6 years and took on the role of raising the kid you may be considered on-the-hook for child support even if that kid was never biologically or legally yours.

What I was going to eventually get to was that I think the picture painted by OP about how MRAs construct feminism is not unlike my perception of how feminism constructs the patriarchy. In both cases, what's being constructed is an adversary for the group to rally against. And in both cases, while an elemet of truth exists in the construction it is often an exaggeration of reality.

In general it's left over sexism from the tender years doctrine. The law is slow to change and lags behind society, and judges are even slower, sometimes still trying to maintain the sexism even after the laws change.

This is a bit too simplistic to be the correct answer... For example in my state which parent pays and which receives is generally based on which address the child uses for legal purposes, and can be assigned by a judge. I mostly disagree. I think it would be exploitative in cases where intentionally duping men, for example insinuating that will give them sex for money and then not providing the sex. I think you have a poor understanding of what a vasectomy is like. It's probably less of a problem than the IUD, and more effective. There is no proper way to assign a penalty. CS should not exist at all if parenting time is split 50/50. Although I'd prefer see an order to split any major fixed costs. For example usually only 1 parent pays health insurance, the other should be responsible for half that cost. If the parenting time is not 50/50, than CS should be ordered based on the disparity in parenting time, and the expected cost to raise a child (not related to the income of the parents). Edit: I'm just realizing the penal…

Haven't gotten too deep in this, but it seems scary to me so far. There is a solid push across the nation to enact shared parenting legislation. You could be talking about two different things here. If you mean informally the kids stay with mom (because the dad leaves the house) than that is part of the societal bias I mentioned earlier. If you mean that an official temporary custody order than we are back to the start of this conversation, we'd have to establish dad asked for custody in the temporary order and that he was denied to figure out what is specifically judge bias.

It seems like you don't understand how the courts work. If mom asks for custody and dad either a) agrees with the custody agreement mom is asking for or b) doesn't show up/doesn't ask for anything what is the court supposed to do? It's not bias to give the parents what the ask for. If mom and dad both say mom should have full custody, what is the court supposed to do? Except moms are stricter You're making a lot of claims that are pure conjecture and not backed by ether statistics or reason, like this one (so much for the logical reasoning you asked for). My mom definitely wasn't stricter. The fact is moms are, on average, better at some aspects of parenting and dads, on average, are better at other aspects of parenting. Removing either from the child is detrimental. Claiming that kids should be with mothers because of the one aspect of parenting mothers are …

What you have provided is 1) not an argument for what's best for kids. If mom provided ice cream and chicken nuggets for dinner every night and dad offers healthy food, the kid will choose mom. Doesn't meant that should be the custody order. And 2) is pure conjecture by you. It definitely wasn't true in my case, my kid wanted more time with me, and while the court recognized that it chose not to provide it.

Being nurturing and exhibiting warmth is only one half of what it takes to raise children. Children also need: rules and boundaries set by discipline, encouragement to take risks, proper socialization, etc. None of these are achieved by being nurturing and exhibiting warmth. Mommy birds are very good at keeping baby birds safe and warm in the nest. But those same baby birds are not going to survive if not encouraged to step out of the nest and fly.

What is Men's rights activism? Primarily recognizing that men actually have problems that need addressed (that's the hard part for those who haven't considered men's rights). Spreading awareness and trying to effect change follows naturally after. What are Men's Rights ideologies? I'm not sure how to respond to that... I suppose breaking down the above answer: the ideology is that men have issues that need addressed, the activism is trying to address them. How are MRA’s different from feminists?…

I'd probably question why they feel the necessity to lump all sexual violence (which may include simple groping or even just verbal things) together. “Women are more emotional” is actually misandrist, not misogynist, because it perpetuates the idea that men’s emotional needs aren’t as important as women’s. I won't quote the rest of your bullet points because the same can be said about each. Why not just recognize that the statement causes problems for both men and women. Trying to claim it is only either misogynistic or misandristic is a false binary, it can be both.

Yes. That's a good angle I wasn't really considering, but in my mind it does nothing to bolster the unpaid labor argument, given no-fault divorce and the fact that women can easily decide to leave their husbands, almost always with alimony, and start working. Their remaining as wives is a choice not a prison.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/01/20 03:17 PM

I typically hear the unpaid labor argument in connection with the stay-at-home-mom who responsible for cooking, cleaning, laundry, and raising the kid(s) which doesn't come with a paycheck. But the people who make that claim tend to never consider that those same women usually get free room and board, free food, all the costs of childcare, and some extra spending money from the husband... It is labor, but it definitely isn't unpaid.

I'm a university student in computer science and recently got a position in software development. On the one hand there is a very clear and strong push for women in tech/stem in the university, and in my job the CEO recently addressed all the plebs mentioning (among other things) how great they have been at hiring more women. On the other hand, I'm a cis het white male and just got a position... so I guess I got lucky?

/r/MensRights04/01/20 05:25 PM

Honestly? I think the best thing you can do is call out your fellow women on their misandry when they show it in women's spaces that men aren't often privy to. Next time you hear a single mom talking about how horrible it is giving her kid up a few times a month to dad, ask her she thinks dad feels only having the kid that often. Next time you hear women talking about how all the CEOs are men, remind her an the trash gathers are too.

We need to keep family court judges in check I feel there is a layer of abstraction above that. It's not as tho we're just bring collectively lazy and have allowed judges to get a bit crazy. The method of control simply isn't there. What we need to do is develop a way to keep the judges in check.

I'm not sure abolish is the correct word.. or else we should clearly define what is meant by marriage. I'd prefer to say we should remove the state sponsorship of marriage. Take away the tax breaks, take away the record keeping, take away the state enforced asset division upon divorce, and everything else. We'd need to keep but drastically reform the state intrusion into childcare/custody. All that being done, "marriage" can still look the same at the surface level. It's just two people publicly…

While I hope this doesn't stop your endeavor, I'd like to issue a generalized word of caution. It may be the case that the facts of the matter are on your side, but judges are not beholden to the facts. Judges issue opinions after hearing the facts, but those opinions do not have to be in line with the facts. Just because you are right and you can prove it does not make you bulletproof.

Maybe I'm missing something but the past false accusations don't seem sexual history if they were false While this whole thing is dumb and I shutter to defend any part of it, I could see revealing a woman had consensual sex than claimed it was forced as technically part of her sexual history... not that it should justify suppressing that information.
/r/MensRights26/12/19 05:10 PM
4

It's not even a good analogy. The proper question is, if a man had 12 previous rape convictions, would it be admissible? I mean technically the rapes should be just as much a part of his "sexual history" as the woman's false accusations are...
/r/MensRights26/12/19 05:06 PM

Is there not some equivalent of an attorney-martyr who would bring up the false accusations in open court, even at the expense of disbarment? I understand this would only force a mis-trial, but with enough attorneys doing this, perhaps the injustice would never come.

Many of the illicit tasks surrounding Epstein were likely carried out by women. For example retaining young girls for future "services." Yes. Admittedly church Bell ringing is the same type of thing. But there is a big difference between a 5-10m religious song playing 5 times a day and 30s of bells ringing once a week. However I never hear church bells anymore where I live. Last time I heard them I was in Europe.

Even if being circumcized is in no technical way worse that being uncut, there is still the fact that the surgery itself has risks. Sometimes they accidently cut too much off. In that case: TFRM: the fathers' rights movement is a rather large Facebook group. They had a sub group for each state. I'd also add NPO: national parents organization. What would activism for us even look like? IMHO, the best method is sending letters, making phone calls, and testifying in person with state legislatures. Maybe, getting signatures on petitions for state law change (not change.org). Eventually, making changes at the federal level. My question is: was Monopoly a “male” game, that had to be adapted for a female audience? I actually see a silver lining here. Monopoly original took on the mantel of coolamon capitalism. In time to came to be known as a fun way to show how capitalism is flawed. Now it's taking on the mantel of feminism. I hope in time it will serve as a reminder of how flawed feminism is.

I asked this question a year or two ago. More specifically a non-hate-based MR podcast (not a fan of Elam). Never found a suitable result. I thought I'd try and make one to fill the space, even got to the point of writing a pilot script and testing out recording myself. Not so. Allowing the no-fault divorce while maintaining men's requirement to financially support women in divorce was a paradigm change that made marriage an economic risk for men. To be clear I'm not advocating for removing the no-fault divorce. I'm advocating removing alimony and making child support fair.

Because men's rights is just crossed the threshold into "able to be grifted" territory. I feel the same about Erasing Family. And the AFESP organization. Since Cassie Jaye (who I don't consider a grifter) established that there was a business model in MR we're going to see a lot more people who don't really care so much about the issues but see an opportunity to profit from them. It's like, Bernie is cool, but I'm not a full scale socialist. I like the idea of UBI, but Yang's position in abortion is pretty out there. At the same time I can't support any right wingers either. I'd just love to see a moderate candidate every now and then.

/r/MensRights10/08/19 04:38 AM

The real number I've been trying to get to is how many times does the court rule (specifically court ruling, as opposed to settlements) in favor of near equal parenting time vs how often fathers request that. That would defeat the common "dad's aren't asking for time" and the "courts give dads time when the ask" argument. But I can't get that information.
/r/MensRights10/08/19 04:05 AM

Honestly, I see some nuance. I think the bio parents should be responsible for the financial burden of raising their child. Imo, the problem is not that step parents aren't counted. It is that income is considered at all. It would be pretty simple to standardize how much it cost to raise a child and issue child support orders that are all for the same amount if in the same area (with the same cost of living), and differing only by how often the child is with each parent.
/r/MensRights09/08/19 02:56 PM
2

What does this mean? Child support is generally calculated by what the biological mom and biological dad make. If mom remarries, and the new stepdad is rich it doesn't take that into account, bio-dad still has to pay a lot even though mom is in a stable financial situation.

What bothered me most about the comment section was all the people says "yea it's horrible to shuffle the kid back and forth so often." A lot of the things you mentioned above are feminist concerns. From the way rape is defined, to victims being afraid to report. This is true and it was primarily feminist lobbyists who got the FBI definition changed to: The penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim. See, if women only had the UBI, it may lead to inflation on such products as hair extensions and makeup, it may lead to an increase in 'the pink tax' where pink colored products cost a bit more than others, because women are willing to pay extra for pink. You're still not being logically consistent. In your previous comment you said men would spend it all on egirls. It would not be able to be captured by fat cats OR by Egirls. Because women seem to benefit it would have a chance of actually happening (politically). For this logic to work you have to make the assumption that only men are spending frivolously, which is not true. I think just as many women would find some useless thing to spend their 1000/mo on, for a stereotypical example more shoes they don't need. I would support a UBI for all, for a different reason. I'd be slightly concerned that a bill like this might actually increase in average length of alimony. When the law is stated with a cap, it becomes a goal to attempt to reach. When it's stated without a cap, it may be more likely to consider how long is actually appropriate. I'd have to see the actual numbers to see how it plays out in practice. There shouldn't be alimony at all, of course. But if that's not an option, I'd prefer see which version of the law equates to less alimony first.

Ok, I'll change your mind. You are not describing most feminists, but a very small minority of them. Most feminists truly think they are fighting for good and equality, but are unaware of how the big picture actually looks.

I disagree with the title. Men may be treated more harshly, but Austraila would not give up a sizable portion of their army simply because they can't pass the PT test.

I'll harp on my pet project again since I see an opening here. Legislation that gives family courts a presumption of equally shared parenting would reduce the aforementioned poverty gap.

I'm more interested in the logistics of the date. I think I was using the internet back in '98 but from what I recall, they didn't have articles from newspapers posted on there. The newspaper would have saw that as a threat to its business model. So that means, at some point someone retro-actively archived old print media. I wonder if any articles were left out. I wonder if any were 'revised.'

But I'll admit that the way it is presented in this sub, it's hard to get this exact message accross from individual cases. That the point is not really the individual cases, or "isolated cases", but the sheer number of them. There is a problem. There's, what, 325 million people on the USA. Even if we post 100 cases of women being violent on this sub, it still isn't a significant number. We need to get actual statistical evidence.

The only difference is what you and others like and don't like. You don't like "spam" (but who defines what spam is?). They don't like outage. There's no reason a conversation about the shape of a subreddit has to be private and only with the mods. I think the mods agree, as they have stickied this past showing they want public conversation about this.

While this general concept remains a major problem in journalism (and society at large), I don't think it's wrong in this specific case. They said she pled guilty to the crime of "sexual conduct with a minor." That's just factually reporting information. She didn't plea to rape.

How is child custody after divorce handled there? Here the courts typically assign the custody of the child exclusively or majorly to one parent, which is usually the mother, unless the mother is demonstrably a bad parent (and sometimes even then). When it's not the mother, sole or majorly custody is assigned to the father. What were working towards is getting courts to favor equal custody as often as it applies. Does Finland favor shared equal custody?

The phenomenon is larger and more abstract than that. Feminists (as opposed to women) have a way to working in lock-step with each other and dominating mid-to-upper administration of things, often without bothering to take over the leadership/face of an organization. I believe this is what happened at Twitter. Jack Dorsey probably isn't that bad of a guy. But his upper-level administrative staff are likely filled with feminist-types, which is what lead the company to what it is today. Jack liter…

Interesting article. It presents a good case for mandatory paternity testing. However I have it when the numbers are inconsistent like this: It is currently estimated that around 4 per cent of the population are unaware the man they call their father is not their true biological relative. Which is it? 4% or 10%. 4 doesn't even round to 10. Is it that the other 6% are case where the man in a biological relative but not the father?

I'm generally in favor of having trans men here. I'm like to think trans men would have an uncommon perspective of gendered issues that might be quite valuable. However I've heard some from the trans community try to argue points that are genuinely anti-science ("biological sex does not exist"). I suppose all communities might have some anti-science, but I'm exposed to it more from the trans committee, and perhaps on the lookout for it.

I was being facetious. Really though there must be a line where promoting the relationship with the mother is no longer moral. If mother was a pedophile, I don't think anyone would advocate promoting that relationship. If mother was a heavy drug user, the same. Perhaps being a "whore" doesn't cross that line, but it's important to realize that promoting the relationship with mother is not always the correct answer.

If a sexual partner is not concerned about your enjoyment, you should cease being their sexual partner. I'm sorry your experience with sex has been negative. Why didn't she just get out of there as soon as she felt uncomfortable? many people explicitly or implicitly asked. It's a rich question, and there are plenty of possible answers. But people should keep these issues out of MRM! Do not bring outside agendas into MRM. I've said something similar so many times in this sub. All that matters is DNA. Nit-picking, but that isn't true. All that matters is some man has to pay, even if the DNA doesn't match. For example a man married to a women who has a baby from an affair is legally responsible for that child, even after divorce.
