Commenting only to suggest giving This Naked Mind another go. I wholeheartedly credit it with helping me quit drinking June of 2018 when I was on the brink of losing my family. Haven't had a drink since that time other than a sip of some champagne my wife ordered on her birthday last year. I'm not a proselytizing teetotaler by any means, but completely cutting alcohol out of my life completely changed things for the better for me and provided a catalyst for making other changes too. I have no id…

This morning she's freaking out and saying she'll stay because I'm forcing her too. She said " You've created that requirement. You set the boundaries and you said that's how it is for you. You will not work on things without me in the house. That doesn't leave me a choice ." "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice." -Rush, "Limelight"

I've never lost a case defending an appeal, but am only about 2 for 3 when I'm trying to get a decision overturned ... but even that I think is a pretty good rate for divorce work. True. I've only defended one, and it was against a crazy pro se litigant in a case with UCCJEA issues. I won easily. My success rate on representing the appellant is not as good as yours, but I've done many more than three. In all but (I think) three of them, I was not trial counsel and would have done things much dif…

When I'm interviewing the client, I never ask it directly that way. Instead, I ask: "What are the things you think your spouse is going to say about you to get ahead?" 99% of the time the guy can rattle off a million things his wife is going to say about him - but he never would have identified those things as weaknesses directly because in his mind they're not true, so they're not actual weaknesses. But everyone knows what their wife will complain about and what she's likely to lie about. YES. …

Fellow divorce attorney here. Most of this I agree with. One, thing, though, regarding being up front with your case's weaknesses and how the attorney gauges it... oftentimes, especially in divorce which is highly emotional, a client doesn't actually know their own case's weaknesses, simply because they don't understand how the law applies to their situation. If I ask someone, "What are the weaknesses in your case?" I would not expect them to know how to answer it properly, except for glaringly …

Fishing is one of those hobbies where you can spend about as little or as much money as you want to, and still have fun. If you don't have access to a boat, check out fishing piers. I've only been to Miami a couple of times, but I would be shocked if there aren't fishing piers around there. You can often rent equipment at those piers, too, so you can get a feel for different rigs before you decide whether to invest in your own. I'm a lawyer. Your comment doesn't make much sense. Are you saying the insurance policy denies indemnification if the claim is a certain amount? That is nonsensical too. When you say "for certain reasons", what does that even mean? Either an event is an insured event, or it isn't. The insurer wouldn't start to defend it by negotiating and then "refusing to pay his demands" as you said and then drop the case. That just isn't how it works. The ladder law thing is irrelevant. An insurer balking at …

Vanguard's first index fund appeared in the 1970's, so yes, they did exist in the 1980's. I understand it's a simplistic way of talking about Trump's increase in wealth, but investing at "optimal times" is pretty much the antithesis of an index fund, because an index fund is essentially a "set it and forget it" way of investing. My point is that he didn't create billions of dollars of wealth out of whole cloth, and the way he has run his businesses has centered on him being paid an exorbitantly …

My point is, that type of valuation is inherently problematic with the type of business you describe. For most service-based businesses like that, you have what is called "personal goodwill", which you can't really place a finite value on, because the person is essentially the business. That is different from a business that has "enterprise goodwill", where the value is not based on the manager or people running it. For example, if he ran a McDonald's franchise, customers don't give a shit who t…

I love the "I'm taking a picture of your license plate. Now you're really fucked!" It's pointless to engage in these situations. I had a similar incident going to a grocery store. The guy started some lecture/rant, and I just said, "Thanks for your input," and started walking away. He yells, "Hey I'm not done!" I sort of shrugged and said, "Well, I am." Does it matter? No. But you also don't have to go around telling anyone this if you don't want them to know. Edit: In another reply you ask "can you ever reach true alpha [whatever that is] with all this in your past?" Look into Jack Donavan, who is an oft-cited redpill author. He is gay.

Interesting. California is one of only a handful of "community property" states, so I guess I'm not surprised. Doesn't California also essentially have a statutory formula for determining alimony?
/r/askTRP16/03/16 07:17 PM
3

People think they can use prenups to contract away the really most important parts like alimony, I don't know what jurisdiction you're basing this on, but waiving alimony (or limiting it to a set amount) is one of the most common, legally valid reasons, for entering into a prenup.
/r/askTRP16/03/16 05:09 PM
9

Right. My point is if he wants a discussion on "is marriage really that bad" with a prenup, a better place to ask is a redpill subreddit where people actually are married and can give advice or opinions about it, both for and against based on real-world experience. I'm not expressing an opinion on it one way or the other.
/r/askTRP16/03/16 05:04 PM
10

You speak like our advice not to get married is somehow bad advice. I'm not sure how anything I wrote can be interpreted as giving an opinion on whether to get married one way or the other. But let's not pretend the decision is without risk. I'm not; and, just like above, I don't know how you could possibly have interpreted anything I wrote that way. [Y]ou're still taking on considerable risk. I agree.
/r/askTRP16/03/16 04:46 PM

The things you listed are not holes or pitfalls in what I wrote. And it isn't really an "argument"; it's just a legal perspective. Regarding someone saying they 'felt' pressured, well, the burden is on them to prove that -- and it isn't easy. Further, feeling "pressured" is not the standard. Duress and coercion are very different than "pressure". Many, many people say they will never marry without a prenup; it is extremely common. That isn't coercion or duress. The classic example is the night b…

I am an attorney, and I practice primarily family law. Predictably, people will say that prenups always get thrown out, etc. That isn't true. Unlike others who will inevitably comment on this, I have actual real-world experience with prenups. I have written them, I have litigated them, and I have my own prenup with my wife. I'm not going to get into whether you 'should' get married, because anything other than "marriage is bullshit, never get married, spin plates 24/7" typically gets buried on r…

Frankly, you sound butthurt and whiny. First of all, there is a difference between being 'dominant' and being 'alpha'. Secondly, it seems the entire point of your post is to whine and complain because the other males in the group didn't want to do what you wanted to do. What do you think -- you're supposed to be able to force them to stay at the bar with you? Sometimes people just aren't into doing the same thing you are. So what? It isn't about dominance.

Quick real talk from a divorce lawyer: The 25 million is premarital property, to which you won't have a claim unless it is commingled with marital funds or otherwise transmuted into marital property. Same with the inheritance which, in most states, is presumptively nonmarital. Or did you just pay her $1.5k to be done with it?

Ask your uncle about it. I'm a lawyer. You may want to look into your jurisdiction's rules of professional conduct. I can't put my finger on it, but it seems like this could implicate these rules. A lawyer demanding payment from someone who is not her client and not a party to the case...? What exactly is she demanding payment for? Am I missing something here?

Only you know if it's an excuse. This requires brutally honest introspection that many people fear. At bottom, you need to ask yourself with respect to each hobby/pursuit/activity: Am I doing this because I enjoy it and it adds value to my life, or am I doing it as a way to avoid women? And, frankly, you shouldn't be analyzing everything in your life in the context of how it relates to your pursuits with women.

Sounds to me that he's not criticizing redpill theory itself. Rather, he's bemoaning the typical posters on r/theredpill as trying to out-alpha each other in dick-measuring contests. And, I agree with him. There are a good 8-10 regular posters there who are thoughtful and insightful with their posts. The rest is usually garbage, although the field reports are useful sometimes. R/askTRP is way worse, though.

I feel that staying in the "scene" and wearing metal influenced attire, staying away from conventional haircuts that might actually suit my face better than the shaved head and beard I've got now, will make it very hard to do this. Interesting. I rather enjoy the casual "I love you" as a married couple, although I don't shower my wife with them all day for no reason like some people. The post-sex "I love you" is like a cheat code, though. I usually couple it with a deep kiss and an ass squeeze. Used it this morning after I fucked my wife, and she nearly melted.

I really don't think so. Well, you are certainly entitled to "think" whatever you want. Right, but isn't that what you are doing, too? Obviously not. Do you have any case law to present? That would certainly help resolve the question. Well, if you are in fact a lawyer, finding such should not be all that difficult for you now would it? Not to be petulant, but you're the one claiming that the ADA would almost certainly apply in these circumstances and that me disagreeing with that premise is "ign…

Eh, the ADA wouldn't apply in these cases, but I imagine the insurance costs would be pretty astronomical and as a requirement for providing the insurance they'd make people demonstrate a certain level of proficiency using the equipment. Which itself is sad, really, since if I go to Home Depot and buy a table saw, no one is going to ask me if I know how to use it. You'd need some pretty serious liability waivers for members to sign.

I'm not sure what you're arguing with me about. I actually agree with your comment for the most part. It's been at least a year since I've watched this video, and I didn't watch it again (I'll try to if I have time later), so I'm hazy on the details of what exactly he says. But, the way you describe it is sort of half-true, and not the way I'd expect a law professor to explain it. Hearsay is one of the most complex areas of evidentiary law, and I'd say that at least 50% of my evidence class in law school was devoted solely to hearsay and its many, many exceptions. Cool. Did you watch the end of the video? The court dropped its support request and vacated the arrearages. That "article" doesn't really support your position at all. That type of paternity law isn't uncommon. A child born during a marriage (which is what happened to the first guy in the video) is presumed to be a "child of the marriage" and if the parents separate or are divorced, then the non-custodial parent (usually the father) is going to be on the hook for support by virtue of that presum…

The title of this thread is sensationalist and click-bait. From the actual memo from Goodell: If someone is charged with domestic violence or sexual assault, there will be a mandatory evaluation and, where professionally indicated, counseling or other specialized services. It's money that other people earned and decided to give to you in exchange for the services you provide. These laws generally don't give you the unambiguous right to murder a fleeing criminal No one said they did. /u/JohnGalt316 didn't say anything about a "fleeing criminal". The question is whether the castle doctrine is a 'formal law', not whether you have an "unambiguous right to murder* a fleeing criminal". *'Murder' isn't a good word to use here, since it has a specific legal meaning. If you 'murder' someone, then by definition it wasn't a justifiable homicide.

Rape can now be defined as a sexual experience a woman desires at the time but regrets months later for whatever reason at all. This is how it is beginning to be defined by the courts. I was representing the wife, and during one of our meetings she said that her husband had "mentally and verbally abused her." I told her that that wasn't a ground for divorce but could maybe be relevant for other reasons. I asked her to elaborate. She said that she had become depressed, didn't want to have sex, and her husband was complaining that she wasn't saving money like they had agree…

No, a common law marriage is a different way of being legally married. It is in comparison to statutory marriage. There can be no divorce without marriage. Source: I'm a divorce lawyer. And I've successfully both proven and defended against common law marriage claims.

Great post, dude. I see so many people getting hung up on their partner count or the frequency of lays. First of all, sex shouldn't be the measuring stick. But more importantly, you have to consider why you're getting sex. Women provide sex for a reason -- it isn't random. Is she providing it because you give her tingles and she's interested in the sex itself? Or is she providing it because she is looking for you to provide for her or keep you in line to keep you as an orbiter? I would encourage…

This is a very insightful comment. Women propose to eliminate the effect of the problem (i.e., my overeating causes me to naturally feel shame -- therefore I will no longer be ashamed), whereas men will propose to eliminate the cause of the problem (i.e., I am fat because I overeat and don't exercise -- therefore I will begin exercising and no longer overeat).

Well, depends on what you mean by "arbitration" (sorry, don't mean to get all lawyerly on you, but it matters). You can have either binding or non-binding arbitration, which means exactly what it sounds like. Sure, I practice almost exclusively family law. /u/riverraider69 's proposal is too clever by half, and would never work. From an analytical standpoint, signing a contract ostensibly having the mother "indemnify" you is no different than just trying to sign something to have her waive the right to child support. It's a feeble attempt at an end-run around the law that won't work. And, as /u/bankruptedcasino points out here, it's prohibited by statute. And, from a purely legal/practical standpoint…

Divorce attorney here. What you're saying is true, and most jurisdictions have condonation (or a similar term) as an affirmative defense to use against a claim of adultery. However, you can "close" the window of condonation, so to speak. For example, say the BP guy knows his wife is fucking these other guys in this "poly" relationship, and he condones it. Then, he gets fed up with it and says, "You know what, this isn't working for me, and I don't agree for it to go on any longer." In that situa…

This man should leave his wife and let her deal with this child accordingly. He won't have to pay child support (unless he signed the birth certificate). It doesn't work that way. A child born during a marriage is presumptively considered under the law to be the biological child of the husband. If the parties separate or are divorced, the noncustodial parent will have to pay child support. That is not to say, however, that a man cannot overcome that presumption and not have to pay child support.…

Tax free, free from most rules and regulations, and you are allowed to discriminate against anybody for any reason. Not quite. IRS rules for organizing clubs under Section 501(c)(7) do not permit discrimination based on religion*, color, or race. Furthermore, in order to preserve tax-exempt status, you cannot exceed certain business income limits from "nontraditional" sources. Self-control breeds confidence. When you know (not just pretend) that you are the one in control of your own life, the choices you make, and are able to show that control by your daily actions, confidence will flow freely. Eh, it would be hard to find the time to do a comprehensive write-up, let alone the simple fact that, in the United States at least, every jurisdiction is going to have its own body of case law, statutes, quirks, defenses, etc. While there are some general universal principles, I can speak in detail only to the jurisdiction in which I practice. The best advice really is to consult with an attorney in the jurisdiction in which you plan to be married. I think that if prenups were truly "worthless"…

No, they're not lies. Sure, there are exceptions to everything. Just like in a civil litigation context, other complicated contracts are put forth to the scrutiny of the courts all the time. Some hold up, and some don't. You should never try to cover child custody or support issues in a prenup. From the attorney's point of view, it's a malpractice trap. And, every jurisdiction is going to look into the child's best interests on everything relating to a child, regardless of what a prenup says. Co…

I don't think this means what you think it means. You need to consider it in context with the rest of the statutes in that chapter. The one you cited refers to nonstatutory solemnization. The preceding sections of Chapter 595 outline the process for statutory solemnization; that is, the usual or "normal" marriage process. The one you cited simply provides an alternative method to do so. So, you can still be married without paying the costs in Section 595.11 (which seem bizarre anyway), provided …

your only option is to never live in the same dwelling or share finances in any way, else you become common law [married]. That's not accurate. Common law marriage in the U.S. isn't anywhere near as simple as that. Secondly, I believe that approximately only 25% of the states will allow you to create a common law marriage (though it can later be given full faith and credit in other states that don't recognize the creation of common law marriage).

Not quite. The operative word is voluntarily under- or unemployed. The classic example is a doctor making $500k a year who, in an effort to avoid a high child support/alimony payment, quits his medical practice and gets a job working at McDonald's. A court cannot literally force you to work a different job, but for purposes of calculating alimony or child support, they will impute income to you at a level you can reasonably earn. That is completely different than being laid off or not being able…

That's certainly possible, I guess. But, I'd tell you what I'd do if I were the woman's lawyer and wanted to make a push for alimony. I'd dig into old financial records and show the type of lifestyle that they had lived in the past. What matters in both alimony and child support is what the spouse is capable of earning, not what they actually are. If you are voluntarily underemployed or voluntarily unemployed, a court will impute income to you at the level that you are reasonably capable of earn…

That's not how alimony works. The hypothetical $50k in the bank is part of the marital property settlement, not alimony. Alimony's intent is to allow the supported spouse to maintain the same lifestyle he/she had during the marriage. It's usually based on the earning capacity of the two spouses. As with child support, you can't intentionally take a lower-paying job to lower your child support payments, just like a parent receiving child support can't intentionally take a lower-paying job (or not…

I guess you could characterize it like that. It was weird because my guy didn't even mention it until the other attorney, after we had already finished the written agreement, brought it up in a phone call. I discussed it with my guy and he said, "Oh yeah, I forgot about that." (It was hidden away in the house, which he kept). So really the tape didn't affect the litigation while it was ongoing. Fine. Destroy the tape (assuming it's the only copy she has) and have client sign an affidavit attesting to the fact. Problem solved. I'm on my phone right now and unable to reply thoroughly, but your point is well taken. And for the record, I don't discount the online "manosphere" (I agree it's a terrible name) out of hand. I personally like a healthy mixture of anecdotal and "scientific" evidence before drawing my own conclusions. I've been on reedit for years (this isn't my main account) and have lurked here at TRP for a very long time before creating this account. I think you'd agree there are a TON of utter shitposts here…

Interesting stuff. It's good to see actual scientific literature on the subject, rather than online manosphere "theory," much of which is questionable at best. Unrelated, but I got curious about other Dark Triad-related studies, so I did a quick search on SSRN. Here's an interesting tidbit from a 2011 study (from the abstract; I haven't read all of it yet): This study examined correlations between moral value judgments . . . and participant scores on the Short-D3 “Dark Triad” Personality Invento…

Besides sex, is she adding value to your life? This is a great question and should always be asked when evaluating a woman.

Case in point: Halle Barry. Lawd have mercy.

This guy is a whiny loser. This whole thing is "She won't have sex with me?! But I bought her a drink at the bar!" writ large.

These may be the two of the stupidest and most useless bots I've seen on reddit. I definitely didn't expect them in this subreddit.

Ugh. That guy is doing all the PUA-approved shit I remember from 5 years ago when I used to lurk on the mASF forum. You've got the quick 'kino escalation' (doing the Brooklyn handshake, whatever the hell that is), asking her to keep a secret, etc. The most annoying of which is the constant looking away/distracted and using incredibly feigned "disinterested" body posture. The only thing arguably worse than that is the fact that he used some variation of the phrase "some shit" about 500 times.

Damn, those are some great looking boots. I do a good bit of outdoor farm-type work on family property every weekend, but I'd be worried about getting them all scuffed up and covered in horse shit. That's the type of high quality leather footwear I'd want to wear while I'm out and about.

I'm... not sure how those work. I wear suit and tie pretty much everyday, and I use regular removable collar stays in all my dress shirts. How exactly do the magnetic ones work? in before obligatory "magnets...how do they work?" jokes

Bitcoin has not had any security breaches, wallets and services have. That may be true, but isn't the security of bitcoin entirely dependent upon the security of its wallets/services?

Double-edge here also. Plus Prorazo shaving soap (not pre-made cream) that is just made to get that brush in there, work out a lather and get to it. You're doing it right. I have the same setup. When I first got into wet shaving during college, I tried probably 10 different types of soaps/creams, and Proraso is by far the best. That eucalyptus and menthol combination is awesome on your face in the morning. Spent the money on a high-quality badger hair brush (a lot of people don't realize that th…

Yep. I made plans the other week with a lady to come over to my place for dinner. The day of the night we were supposed to hang out she texts "Still want me to come over tonight?" I looked at my phone... then sighed and typed back. "No" What the fuck did you expect to happen? That she would text you back begging you to let her come over?

Their entire personality usually revolves around calling themselves feminsts This is very, very accurate and in my opinion the main reason that radfems and the like are so threatened by opposing ideals. It's also very true for many other unrelated areas of life. The bizarre need to "belong" to a specific group with a named identity is something I'll never understand.
